The soft sounds of dripping water could be heard echoing out from the darkness, each drop being the only sound that dared to break the silence. An foul odor hanged in the air pungent and stale, when breathing in each breath would be met by that odor which would remind someone of human waste, blood, and sweat mixed in. In this foul and horrid place there were many cells and countless people tied and chained up none of them moving as they had been broken by time and abuse. This was the pit of the maggot's nest, the last floor that held the worst of the worst. Those that death would be too good for them so instead they were trapped here till their minds gave and their bodies fell to ruin.
Beast would awaken in his cell in the pit. His limbs would be chained with heavy steel chains that kept his body from sinking to the floor. He would see that inside of his cell there was nothing under him but cold hard stone and a pile of what was in the bowels of the former inhabitant of the cell. Beast would be stripped of everything, his clothing gone say for a loin cloth that was tattered and ragged, his swords were also taken from him leaving him without any means of attack.
Yet while they took everything from him, they left him with something new, on his neck a unique kido based tattoo that hindered his power. All those who lived in the maggot's nest this deep in had them. They limited a person's power so that they couldn't break out and cause chaos and madness in the maggots nest. That was their job, however given beast's nature it wasn't working properly as such he had more strength than he should have, but was it enough to overpower someone if need be? Beast would have a chance to find out.
A man approached Beast's cell from out of the darkness, the man was a tall shingami without a blade and instead had a key to Beast's cell. The man opened up Beast's cell and smiled at the tied up Vizard. “So you're the beast huh? Well you don't look like much to me. After all you're all tied up and bounded by chains that need only a bit of strength to break, but oh wait you can't muster enough strength to even stand up. Oh what a foolish thing you are.” The man would get closer to beast before poking Beast in the face with his long nail trying to draw blood from Beast. If he was to act, maybe this was the moment, before the man would walk way into the utter darkness of the entire floor.
Beast awoke from another night in the dark, or was it another day in the dark? Time had no meaning at the bottom of the Maggot's Nest. It was too dark to see, too dark to do anything but sleep in the grime of the previous inhabitants. It was disgusting and humiliating and if it weren't for this seal on his neck he would have broken the chains long ago. As it were, though, the chains were holding him down and he had no motivation to try and get up. It would just be a waste of energy. After some time had passed - too much time, to be exact - a jailer came into the room after having unlocked the door.
Carrying a lantern of some sort to light up the room just enough for the jailer to see Beast and for Beast to see him, this swordless Shinigami tried to taunt the Wraith. He poked at Beast's face, the one part of him that wasn't chained to the floor. With more strength than he should have due to the seal, Beast opened his mouth and slammed it shut on the Shinigami's extended finger. With an athletic amount of strength behind it, the finger should be completely severed by the pure rage the Wraith was feeling. Humiliate him and get away with it? Never.
Now he had motivation to move. Pushing with all his might, Beast tried to wrap his arms around the shinigami in a death embrace. Sure, the man probably recoiled from his finger being bitten off, but there was a chance that he would continue to lash out at the Wraith and beat him for the offense. If he had stayed close, Beast would try and crush him with the weight of the chains and his athletic bear hug grip. Even if he had been beaten and hit with something as drastic as a Cattle prod, Beast was nearly impervious to pain, had a stubborn streak that would let him push through any pain he did feel, and he could recover from things at supernatural speeds.
This shinigami would pay for daring to taunt the Hollow Wraith.
The shingami coiled back in pain as he felt his finger being bitten off by the monster that they had caged up here. He screamed in pain as he felt the teeth sink into his flesh severing off the digit . However that would be short lived as he soon found himself surrounded by the arms of the man crushing him with a force that he shouldn't have. His screams for help could be heard echoing out into the vast darkness. The darkness in return answered in simple silence indifferent at the suffering that was happening here. It's job wasn't to help, but to simply allow what was happening. It wouldn't take long with beast's strength to kill the man.
Yet in the struggle that the man did put up against beast the lantern he carried fell to the floor and shattered, only a small flame would remain that soon would fade into nothingness leaving beast alone in the dark. Now Beast's cage was open, with a bit of force he could leave his cells tearing out the chains from the walls if he so chose to do so. However what laid ahead of him was utter darkness and no way of knowing what was ahead of him nor how large this place was. The choice was his, does he step forth into an unknown darkness or hide in his cell like a caged animal? Someone would eventually come to see what had happened to the shingami that was sent down here so he had to act.
The man who had taunted Beast was no more. Crushed to death by a strong grip and heavy chains, the man went limp as his lantern crashed to the ground. Beast searched the body, looking for anything of note that wasn't the now useless key as the gate was already opened. Maybe there was another set of keys that would lead him farther away and out of this dark floor of the Maggot's nest. Maybe there was a key to the chains. Maybe there was something sharp that Beast could use to shank someone if necessary. It was doubtful that there was much on the corpse, given he had neglected to take his Zanpakutou down into the prison, but it wouldn't hurt to check.
Motivated by the open door and the slain Shinigami, Beast placed a palm on the corpse and started to draw in energy using Hollow Wraith's Nectar. His reserves of stamina and energy would be swollen by consuming the life force of this nobody without a name. He hoped to place a strain on the seal that bound him as using Hollow Wraith's Nectar usually increased his power in all ways. He usually grew faster, stronger, more alert, and spiritually stronger. Consuming a victim may place a strain on the seal that would weaken it further than it already was. It had been defective, and maybe pushing at its binds would weaken it further. It was a slim hope, but hope none the less.
Regardless of whether his abilities were heightened, Beast tugged at the wall and tried to pull the chains off. He hoped he had enough strength to free himself from the wall as he struggled to stand up under the weight of the heavy links. As he pulled, his strength of will started to come back to him as he grew motivated to escape. There were people in his life that he still needed to hunt down and consume. Wycliff was the most recent addition to this list that also included his mortal enemy the Zookeeper. If he was successful in pulling the chains off of the wall, he would drag them across the ground, possibly quite loudly, as he shuffled out of the cage and deeper into the darkness...
What he would do when he found light remained to be seen. Any light was a good light at this point in time. It either meant a way to escape this floor, or it meant a patrol that he could consume to try and push at his seal even further. And so the Wraith wandered aimlessly, hoping to adjust to the darkness and be able to see something. Anything.
Loud thuds could be heard as the chains fell to the ground and as they were dragged across the harden stone floors. Beast had broken free and was now walking in the absolute darkness. The small flicker of light he had when the lamp broke would have shown that the hallway was lined with cages alike his, each holding people inside yet in this darkness there was no way of seeing their faces. The lack of sound and light made it seem as if there was nothing but darkness in a vast and massive area.
No matter how hard Beast tried he wouldn't be able to find any sort of light to help illuminate his path. Each step further making his cage become darker and more faded from his sight. A few hands would try and reach out and grab at beast, however they would all fall short and miss touching him. There would be a slight moment when one almost came close enough, but even then the chains would force the poor man from touching beast.
Eventually Beast would make his way to a wall, depending on beast it would be up to him if he would hit face first into the wall or not. This wall was solid, seemingly made up of stone straight from the earth. There would be no way to brute force one's way past it. To the right Beast could only see darkness, yet to the left there was a soft light, blue in hue that seemed to dance and move. It was the first light that beast had seen, but was it trustworthy? After all in this sea of darkness who knows what a light could be?
As the chains rattled along the floor, Beast continued to prod onward. He wasn't getting any more used to the darkness, because there just wasn't any light to be seen as far as he could tell. His eyes weren't adjusting, even though they were usually well trained. It was possible this seal was limiting his senses as well. Anyways, as he plodded along, he finally saw a light up to his left after running into a solid wall. To the right, more darkness. To the left, potential danger but also potential for salvation. Beast wasn't particularly cunning, or wise, he was more a creature of rage. So, even though it was potentially a huge trap that would kill him or leave him chained forever at the bottom of this pit, Beast headed towards the light. Wary, but heading towards it still.
The hanging light that Beast saw as his way out would continue to dance as Beast moved towards it. For every step that Beast took the light seemed to mimic it in distance, sometimes as it moved away it would bounce up and down slightly other times sway side to side. This motion made it seem as like something was moving the light, almost as if it was a lure and beast was it's prey. This pattern would continue for as long as beast would follow the light, it never getting closer or further away, always simply there in the distance as a glimmer of hope that could never be reached by Beast.
The path that the light would take Beast down would wind and twist and turn, several times the light would turn down a dark path and vanish from sight, only to reemerge the moment beast turned a stone corner. No matter how far or how long beast walked it seemed as if no progress was being made, as if it was leading the hollow wraith down a winding path with no end. Eventually however Beast would find himself being lead back somewhere familiar, while not being able to see it at first he would feel the soft body of the man he crushed in his cell underneath his feet. The light had lead him back to his cell and in that moment it vanished once again not to reamerge.
This light was getting him nowhere. Quite literally, in fact, as he stepped in a pool of blood and broken lantern glass and swore as he nursed his foot that had been cut into by the mistake he had made. The blue dancing light had led him straight back the way he came and brought him to his cell. Trying to make a run for it, trying not to be caged in again by someone hiding nearby, Beast lurched forwards and made an attempt to escape the cell again before the door slammed shut on him. If it did, well, then, he was probably screwed. But for now, he'd rush towards the cell door and attempt to get out. If he made it out, he'd move until he hit that wall again. He'd have to be smarter if he was going to escape. This time, he'd move towards the right instead of the left where the light had previously been. Maybe then he'd find something different.
As beast started to walk away from the light it started to glow brighter and brighter, trying to act like a lure. With each step the light tried to grab beast's attention to force him to face the bright light. It was as if the light was a living being, one that had a single mission, keeping the beast here inside of the bottom of the maggots nest not allowing him to escape. However being unsuccessful in keeping beast from reaching the wall something started to change. The light that had been a bright white shade now turned into a deep red as if it was enraged.
Suddenly the light vanished and then reappeared in front of beast, keeping him from going further up the left path. The light would show what was hiding in the darkness. The sounds of gurgling could be heard as the creature who spawned the light stepped into view. The top half of the head of this creature was clearly the ripped off head of an angler fish beast clan. This head was sowed onto the body of a chameleon like beast clan, the lower jaw of the beast clan clearly showed that it was part of a chameleon as a large tongue hanged from the mouth dragging against the floor. It's eyes were large and white, appearing as if they were blind, yet they followed the motion of beast.
As the half breed beast clan lumbered forward it launched it's tongue out at beast without warning. The tongue if it landed would wrap around beast's arm. It's saliva would drip off of if and ooze to the ground. Slowly it would started to pull back towards it's mouth trying to drag beast with it. This would be matched with the half breed beast clan slowly opening it's mouth showing off the mangled assortment of teeth in it's mouth, all sharp and needle like. The light on top of it's head would glow and dim with the heartbeat of the beast now that it was in sight.
The light lead Beast back to the wall, then blocked him from going the way he wanted to go. Soon that light grew angry, somehow, then revealed itself to be some sort of Angler Fish Chameleon weirdo. It lashed out with its slimy tongue at Beast and pulled him in towards itself. With the limiter he had been sealed with, Beast couldn't resist its pull and was grabbed by the wet, moist, whip of a tongue. As he was pulled in towards the razor sharp needle teeth, Beast pulled and fought with all that he had, though it wasn't enough to escape the grip. As he got closer and closer, he relied on Grodd's body's muscle memory. While he wasn't well versed in Hakuda on his own, Grodd had mastered it and this body knew how to fight without a weapon without much of an issue.
At the very last moment, Beast threw a wicked punch with all his physical and spiritual might. The Hakuda Technique Denden would get him out of this tight spot. If he hit the half breed in the chest with this full force punch, the Chameleon Angler would be launched upwards and away for a distance of 30 meters. Beast's goal was to launch it into the Ceiling and do enough damage to break the barrier between him and the next floor. Even do enough damage to get some light down in this terrible cell block would be fine. Beast would probably be dragged along with the half breed as he was still attached by one limb to the tongue, so if he wasn't released by the force of the reiatsu-infused punch, he would follow through with a swift kick to the teeth of this creature.
This basic Hakuda technique requires an open palm to the enemy's chest. This technique causes reiatsu and raw force to jet from the user's attacking arm when it hits. This blasts the enemy back exactly thirty meters. Momentum suddenly stops after 30 meters, forcing the enemy to an awkward, jetting stop. This results in their being off balance.
How to use technique:
Stated above.
Drawback:
None. Enemy can resist technique if physical strength is double or more the user's.
The animalistic beast clan saw the strike coming, it saw it and met it with it’s chest. The force of the impact forced the beast clan to fly upwards into the ceiling of the prison. A cracking sound could be heard as stone started to fall, would this be the way for beast to escape from this floor? Sadly for him and the bestclan jailer that wasn’t going to be the case. Electricity started to flow from the semi broken ceiling into the mixbreed electrifying him and by extension Beast as the tongue of the beastclan was still tightly wrapped around the arm of the hollow wraith even though he had been thoroughly punished.
The jolts of electricity would continue to flow electrifying both for a moment till the jailer fell from the ceiling and down to the ground. Small traces of light could be seen sparking off of the electricity illuminating only bits of the room. Attempting to simply break through the ceiling it seemed would be met with a nasty result. The jailer was dying letting out it’s last death rattles as the light in it’s antenna started to fade away. A combination of the strike and the electricity had killed it. Beast would have only felt a fraction of what the Jailer experienced, however that in and of it’s self was extremely painful and hopefully would be enough to deter him from attempting to brute force his way through the ceiling.
One would have assumed that the hallways of the prison would grow grew silent as there was no longer any sound coming from the half breed. Yet there was a small and constant chiming coming from the body of the jailer. It sounded exactly like a bell ringing softly, if Beast looked at the body of the half breed he would see a faint glowing key with a bell attached to it. This was held attached to the upper part of what seemed to be a modified shingami uniform. Other than the uniform and the key there was nothing else of note on the jailer, beast’s arm however would have a clearly fish like smell linger around where the tongue had wrapped around him.
The hallways were still as dark as ever, now the only thing was beast no longer had a light, he could continue following random paths in the darkness hoping to find a way out or return back to his cage. The choice was up to him. Little did he know that in the darkness there was a camera watching his every move and someone was smiling watching the hollow wraith escape. This person was recording and monitoring everything, a small heart monitor blip could be heard as the man coughed. “He’s stronger than I thought, his body is perfect.” A soft cackle echoed from the man filling the room.
The pain from being electrocuted through the jailer's tongue was nothing. Beast had been through worse pain before. Much worse. Beast pushed through the pain that he barely felt with his extreme stubborness, letting the dead jailer rest a moment before pushing off the tongue, shaking himself off, and moving to take the key and uniform. The light from the electricity arcing across the ceiling was fading fast. Soon there would be nothing left in the hallways but blackness. The modified Shinigami uniform would hopefully fit Beast, but regardless he'd put it on. It was given to him for some reason by killing the chameleon angler jailer, so he'd take it. The key too, though he tried to rip off the bell and toss it aside. Didn't need someone hearing him coming by that incessant annoying chiming.
As it was now dark, Beast tried feeling his way for the Beast clansman's angler like appendage. He'd find the bulb part and shove his hand into it forcefully to try and get any sort of bioluminescence on his hand. If it didn't just naturally light up from exposure to the air, he'd try to do his best and circulate reiatsu through his hand as if he was charging a Kidou. Maybe that would allow him to form a flashlight of sorts and see where the door was that the key went to. If not... then he'd just wait and see what came next for him down on this bottom level of the Nest.
While rubbing the blub of the hybrid beast clan on his hand didn’t seem to have any effect, attempting to power it with reiatsu did. When first trying to charge it up Beast would see that it would glow bright and almost act as a flash bomb in the darkness. This wasn’t the same small light that had been guiding him around. It seemed that the fleshy bulb seemed to extremely sensitive to reiatsu and the more that was put into it the brighter it would become. It would take a bit of effort to actually get the bulb to work in a proper way to not blind him, but it would eventually result in a proper light that would illuminate the area around him.
Beast would see that this lower floor seemed to simply be a large circle winding around and around, every twenty or so feet there would be a long hallway that held more jail cells. This endless circle seemed to just loop back around. After about twenty minutes of walking he would find himself back at the corpse of the beastclan he had killed. It seemed that everything he had done was resulting in him looping back around. There was no clear exit, however there was a loud ringing sound more so than before.
What he would notice is that the bell he had ripped off of the key and had tossed aside was now several feet away from the body of the beast clan. It was glowing and letting out a louder ringing sound than before. This faint glow would pulse with the ringing, if beast walked towards it, he would see that the light from the bell was showing something on the walls that wasn’t there before. There were arrows, carved into the wall that only showed when bathed in the light of the bell. If he followed them with the bell he would find the exit. In a wall he would see that there was a fake stone that would allow for him to push it and force the wall to move upwards showing a staircase. There was light coming from the upper floor, for now beast had beaten the first floor.
On the next floor beast would find himself in a very different set up, the entire floor seemed to be wide open, there was grass, trees, flowers even a fake sun and sky. His nose would be filled with the smell of something sweet and succulent as the trees held fruit and a flowing river was going through the whole area. While he would expect a wall there seemed to be a total lack of one as the entrance to the lower floor seemed to just be free standing. Nothing behind it nor to the sides, this was a wide open forest in the middle of the prison. Beast felt part of his power return to him as he got to this floor, not all of it, but a small part.
Hand covered in angler bulb guts, Beast was blinded for a moment as the hand became less of a flash light and more of a flash bomb. Even his weak Reiatsu strength was capable of supercharging the glow guts to shine quite brightly. He backed off on the power, slowly fiddling with the strength he was outputting until it was a much more comfortable glow that made it easy to see but was not blinding. He walked past many rows of cells, the way ever winding in a circle. It took him twenty minutes to get back to the corpse of the jailer and the bell he had cast aside. It was glowing and ringing louder than it had been. Begrudgingly he went over to pick it up and noticed the light it cast showed arrows along the wall. Finally, a way out. He followed the arrows to the hidden door panel and made his way into the light of... an outdoor meadow?
It looked for all intents and purposes that he was now outside in the sun, which didn't make any sense. The hole into the deepest floor wasn't even protected by anything, it was just a hole in the ground. There were no walls, seemingly nothing to say that Beast was still in a prison. He knew he was, but he also felt the seal on his neck weaken slightly as he walked onto this floor. He felt stronger than he had previously been, and it felt great. He tried to peer into his memories from when he was trapped inside Grodd, but couldn't remember knowing how many floors were in the Maggot's nest. So he just followed his instincts and headed towards the flowing river. He'd follow that in a single direction so he wouldn't end up going in circles...
