Title: The End of a Generation World: King's Palace Participants: Aevus, Himitsu, Douma Plot Summary: Aevus and Himitsu were sent to capture or kill Douma. They succeeded in finding him and the three were about to battle. Just then, what appeared to be a small meteorite crashed into the space between them and landed with an abrupt thud. When the smoke cleared they saw that within the small crater was no meteorite. It was a man in a white shihakusho and a black haori. His hair is black and short and he is covered in blood. Looking up at them and recognizing Shinigami, he speaks. "There's no time. My name is Shinsei Tan'O from the Zero Division. You three, we need to go to the King's Palace now or everyone in all of the worlds will die." Do they trust him? On Waitlist: Amalia

Himitsu stood atop an old, rundown building in South Rukongai District 73. The writing above the building’s entrance had mostly faded, but apparently it was at one point a school. Or a hospital. Maybe a medical school. It didn’t matter anymore. South District 73 was one of those distant, forgotten areas in the Rukongai were education wasn’t important and healthcare wasn’t accessible. It was a hub for crime and a hell for the unfortunate souls with nowhere else to go. But Himitsu couldn’t pay attention to that right now. That was a problem for him to tackle tomorrow. For now, this was their opportunity to final close in on him.
The perimeter has been established, spoke a squeaky voice telepathically. It came from the tiny little ladybug hiding in his hair. This ladybug, a product of his technique Genesis Art: Volucris, informed him of the situation around
Are all the Soul Reapers at the ready?
Yes.
And Aevus?
Yes, he’s prepared.
Excellent. They know the signal. It’s time to move in.
Four hours earlier
Snore…
Himitsu, wake up. Someone’s running toward your office.
Snore...
Dammit, we don’t have time for this right now.
The irritated Volucris yanked on the hairs at the back of Himitsu’s head, painfully forcing him back into consciousness. “Hey, what was that f-“ Himitsu was suddenly interrupted by triplet of urgent knocks. The person behind the door didn’t even wait for permission before barging in. It was a young shinigami, a member of Squad 9. Himitsu recognized her from his past service as Squad 9’s third seat. But based on her rapid breathing and tired expression, this was not the time to catch up.
The girl tossed a manila envelope atop a mountain of loose-leaf papers and binders that already occupied Himitsu’s cluttered desk. “This one can’t wait,” she informed him while struggling to recover her breath. Himitsu quickly grabbed opened the folder and examined its contents. These profiles… I sent in reports on their activity weeks ago, he thought to himself in frustration. Without a captain, Squad 9’s data processing has been ridiculously slow. At this point, Himitsu was considering hunting his former Captain Raion down and forcing him out of retirement.
As Himitsu kept reading, he grew more and more concerned. Ties to the L.I.F.E epidemic in the Rukongai? A network of distributers this large. And their supplier… Himitsu turned to the final page to see the profile of the masked criminal, Douma. The rogue’s eyes in the picture stared right back at Himitsu. He had faced off against Douma in the past, narrowly escaping with his life. It was his failure against Douma that caused his former zanpakuto to abandon him. But he was stronger now. Himitsu wouldn’t let Douma slip from his fingers again.
After a brief skim, Himitsu looked up at the squad 9 girl. “When do you anticipate their next liason to be?” he asked in a pressing voice. Her reply was far quieter and more nervous. “Tonight.” Himitsu’s eyes widened in surprise, followed shortly by a frustrated furrow in his brow. But he did his best to keep his annoyance inside. It wasn’t this messanger’s fault that Squad 9 was sluggish. “What Captains are available to assist me?”
“Sorry Himitsu-taicho, all Captains are already dispatched elsewhere.”
“And Lieutenants?”
“Only the Omnitsukido Lieutenant Aevus.”
Himitsu sighed. If only Kaen were here. But Aevus would have to do. “Okay, he’ll have to do. Have him report to this office immediately. And call upon at least thirty seated officers across all divisions to do the same. Tonight is the night we bring Douma to justice."
All 30 seated officers were prepared to intercept and apprehend any escaping criminals. The one requirement Himitsu had is that they do not kill unless their life depends on it. Aevus, on the other hand, had a separate task. Himitsu was well-aware of his past achievements, especially in defeating powerful Vandenreich Sternritter. In this situation, Himitsu instructed Aevus to engage to assist Douma if the criminal didn’t bring any powerful allies. But if Douma was seen with his two strongest subordinates, Alice Holland or Crow, Aevus would instead engage them and isolate Douma from them, ensuring that the rogue didn’t receive any aid.
By this point, Douma had certainly noticed their presence, but he was closed off from escape and protecting one of his financial assets. He needed time before he could run, and Himitsu wouldn’t give him any. The plan was simple. Himitsu’d launch an attack before Douma could run. Time was of the essence. Once Himitsu engaged, Aevus would follow up. The rest of the Shinigami would maintain their perimeter.
And the signal for their engagement was Himitsu’s spell. He pointed his open right palm at the warehouse about 100 meters away, the location of Douma’s drug manufacturing site. Six large triangles of sapphire electricity formed a half-dome around the warehouse. Himitsu put a lot of focus into the spell to get the result he wanted. He combined Bakudo #61: Rikujokoro with Hadu #4: Byakurai using Kido Fusion. The spacing of the Rikujokoro and the increase in their size to roughly the length of an NBA player, was a feat Himitsu accomplished with his mastery of Kido, high reiatsu strength, and mastery of the techniques at hand.
With the help of Volucris’s high energy sensory, Himitsu oriented the triangles so that they wouldn’t impale any of the souls working the factory. There were about 15 of them by Volucris’s count, 16 with Douma included. Thankfully the Shinigami that accompanied him outnumbered Douma’s forces, allowing them to better contain the situation. Himitsu sent his fused kido flying into the factory at rapid speeds. The lightning tore through the walls and ceiling, slicing the metallic parts of the drug manufacturing infrastructure to disable the production of terrible products such as L.I.F.E.
As soon as Himitsu launched his attack, the doors of the factory burst open and Douma’s forces poured out, weapons at the ready. Himitsu’s own troops engaged immediately, doing all they could to apprehend each foe. The Shinigami were better trained, and it seemed that they’d emerge victorious in the end. But the Angel of Silence would not be so easy to subdue. Himitsu waited patiently from his distant rooftop for Douma to emerge and meet him.
Reiatsu Remaining: 6825/7000 (-150 for Rikujokoro, -25 for Byakurai)
Life Force Remaining: 6700/7000 (-300 for Volucris)
Usable By (Technique is available to which races?): [Kasumi’Oji Shinigami]
Technique Element: [Life Force]
Technique Description and Effects (Explain appearance, powers, and effect): [Insert Below]
Volucris is interesting because, unlike most of its cousin techniques, it lacks combat purpose. This technique was invented for the purpose of support to allies. It spawns a lady big which, depending on the desire of the user, can be anywhere between the normal tiny size of a lady bug to the size of a full-grown golden retriever. It’s the opposite of intimidating. In fact, this ladybug has a personality. It is one of the most intelligent creatures the Genesis Arts are capable of creating, for it has a mind modeled after that of the shinigami it is created from. In that sense, it has a personality parallel and compatible with that of the user that created it. Although it can still die, that personality and individuality lives forever through the user. The first Volucris that the user summons is the same Volucris that they will continue to summon in the future unless a large personality change occurs.
The Volucris is not at all designed for combat. It is meant to be a search and rescue tool. It has 300 strength, 100 speed, 300 instinct, 400 senses, and 400 instinct. It holds no spiritual capability. However, what makes it special is its ability to communicate telepathically to those it touches. Not only can it transmit its thoughts to a person that it makes physical contact with, but it can also act as a medium of telepathic communication between the user and someone else that it is in contact with. No matter where it is, it always holds a telepathic link to its user. This communication occurs at the normal speed of dialogue. Only words or pictures can be communicated, not emotions or memories.
How to use technique (How is it activated?): [Insert Below]
Channel reiatsu to summon the Volucris anywhere within 10 feet.
Technique Drawbacks (Limitations, repercussions for use, etc) (Insert Below)
The volucris costs 400 life force to summon. Furthermore, it is very vulnerable and cannot defend itself in combat. Therefore, if one attempts to use it in a fight, it becomes a liability that they must defend. It is also difficult to use for sensory assistance because, while it can communicate telepathically, the speed that it does so is too slow to be useful in fast-paced fights.

Douma detected the shinigami miles away. It seems one of our distributers is less reliable than I anticipated… he thought bitterly. He’d have to conduct a thorough investigation and punish the failure another day. There was no room for mistakes with Douma. Soul Society was already far more eager to get their hands on him than most other criminals, mostly due to his bloody history with the Gotei 13. He could never be too cautious.
But at the moment, his main priority was high level of product that had been produced and stored at this location. There was approximately a half a ton’s worth of the most potent drug in the spiritual world, L.I.F.E. Half a ton was worth tes of millions of ryo. Just a few drops was enough to get someone addicted beyond recovery, and that insane addictive characteristic made L.I.F.E. an easy source of income. But it was extremely costly to produce, and for that reason, Douma was extremely displeased that Seireitei had discovered his site.
There was no way Douma would allow himself to lose such valuable assets. He could abandon the factory and invest to rebuild a second one, but if Seireitei got their hands on his L.I.F.E., he’d have wasted all the millions of ryo he invested into its production. The rogue rolled his storage scroll across the floor of the factory, calling out to his workers as he did. “Halt production. Load all prepared L.I.F.E. into the scroll. Then prepare yourselves for battle. The Gotei 13 are upon us.”
Douma watched as Himitsu spell tore through the pieces of his factory. He could feel the anger in his heart swelling in response. I’ll have my revenge, he thought with bitter determination. As his set of criminals – a mixed collection of Mod souls, Bount, Rogues, some Nakabakki, and even an Arrancar – rushed out to meet Himitsu’s forces, Douma patiently made his way up a staircase that ran alongside the wall of the building. As he reached the top, he made his way onto the roof.
He stood facing Himitsu, standing on level ground. In his right hand, he held a sword of black steel, his artificial zanpakuto, comfortably at his side. He could feel the storage scroll cotanining all of his L.I.F.E. supply inside of his dark coat, pressing against abdomen. He’d hold on to it tightly. But something felt strange about Himitsu’s reiatsu this time. It was full of light and hope, possessing a light aura that far exceeds anything Douma had ever experienced. But he was not shaken by that feeling. No, it only increased his thirst for Himitsu’s blood.
The Gotei’s Captain of Justice will fall by my blade. His light will be extinguished.
But before any battle could begin, Douma sensed an enormous swelling in the spiritual energy nearby him. He felt a powerful individual approaching, one on the level of beings like Kashmir and Kuroi. Whoever this being was, Douma did not expect him to be friendly. He gripped his blade tightly in anticipation, his attention split between Himitsu and this new arrival.
In its non-released state, Kagami’s artificial Zanpakuto takes a slightly unorthodox appearance compared to the traditional Japanese katana. No, his blade is far superior. It may lack a Zanpakuto spirit like the true Zanpakuto all Shinigami are equipped with have. However, the black market in the Rukongai has its share of excellent smith’s that forged the deadly black beauty. Black is the best word to describe the weapon. Black color, black aura, a black weapon. It was the embodiment of Kagami’s dark side.
Now, let us begin by examining the hilt. It is approximately six inches long and three inches wide. The hilt is fairly plain and has a symmetrical pattern on each of the flat sides composed of small grooves and dips into the blade. It is made of a dull black metal with little luster. In fact, it reflects very little light. In fact, the particular shade of black on the hilt would belong more to a black wall than it would the pure darkness of true black.
However, the blade of the sword embodies that darkness. It draws nearly light into itself, letting none meet the eyes of the viewer. However, one part of the three and a half foot long sword does in fact reflect light from it, and that part is the most dangerous. Along the razor sharp edge of the sword, the black metal transitions into silver with an unplaceable gradient border between the two shades. This silver metal is polished and shines like a mirror, so one would be able to see the horror in his or her eyes through it before the blade removes the light of life from those eyes.
The slight curve of the single-edged blade leads into a honed, focused tip capable of drawing blood as it bypasses the pain receptors of the opponent. That is how sharp the weapon is. It’s keen edge makes cuts that the opponent won’t feel until blood rushes out of the openings and pushes past the pain receptors. The weapon may be seen as a kind blade, for the opponent won’t even feel their death as it slices through his or her body.
Now, the released form of the weapon is completely different. The transition doesn’t occur in a flash of light, but rather, the opposite. All Kagami has to do is speak the words “Observe in darkness, Kagebokkusu.” The blade draws in all light. It acts like a black whole, sucking up all visibility. For a second, the place of the sword is replaced with an empty, dark slot. It was like a black whole. Nothing would be there but the silhouette of a transforming blade.
When the darkness faded, there wasn’t much light to replace it. In fact, there was little light at all. The only really visible part was the handle. It is partly composed of a metallic black very similar to that of the blade in the sword’s non-release state. The majority of the light, however, is revealed from the silver metallic pieces of the hilt that compose part of the grip. The hilt has a light curve that allows it to fit easily into Kagami’s hand. There is no guard separating it from the blade.
Now, this sword for this weapon is something special. It is nothing like any other Zanpakuto, artificial or legitimate. The blade is long, slim, and straight. It is razor sharp, sharper than in the unreleased form. A cut from this sword is always clean. However, that is not the magnificent part of the blade. The material it is composed of seems to embody a black hole. It absorbs absolutely all light, not letting any out. The only portion of the three and a half foot long blade that can be seen is its outline, and it’s black shade is so void of everything that it is clearly identifiable, like any other blade. However, it is not quiet like any other. It harnesses the darkness of Kagami soul in its appearance.
The last part of this weapon’s appearance has to do with its power. It summons a black box, and the characteristics of this box and the effects it has are to be described in the next section. This box is a small cube with a side length of about one foot. The box is made of the same material as the blade of the released sword, so only the completely empty silhouette makes it clearly visible.
Kagebokkusu has a power I call "shadow box." What does this do? It creates a black cube of reiatsu next to its user, Kagami in this case, which floats five feet away from him at all times, and moves next to him. What does it do? It records him. For up to five moves, 100 reiatsu per move recorded. It's costly. Very very costly. But it's surely worth it, because every single movement that Kagami makes has the capacity to be recorded. He doesn't need to fill up all five to make this work, of course, but five is still a good number to have. So what happens when it records? He can make it "play." How? Contact with the box. The box itself can be fired at half his step speed, or he can just touch it. A target hit by the box INSTANTLY ceases all actions, and is forced to repeat the actions recorded by the box, all of them, in sequence... at Kagami's step speed. Brilliant, right? Pretty brilliant if you ask me. And that's the box's only power. It cannot be resisted by any skills. It can be broken only by superior offensive stat (2x requirement) AND class equality or superiority. (BOTH needed to break it.) Also, if the time needed to record exceeds your duration, worry not. Records carry over to refreshed releases.
The box's ability may only be used once during release. After he shoots it out, whether it strikes the opponent or not, the release ends. In addition, if the box is struck, it is broken and the release ends. When the release ends, the saved moves are deleted.
Item Name: Blood Cross
Item Type: Wristband
Item Description:
The item is called the "Blood Cross." In appearance, it's a deep red wristband with a cross dangling from it. You'd say it looks identical to a red version of a Quincy's Cross. It's deep red because in appearance, it looks like it's made of fine, smoothed ruby. Actually, the item itself is made of an unidentified spiritual stone. What does it do? When its user becomes extremely angry, the cross resonates with a deep red reiatsu, and produces an extremely intimidating, hideous aura as long as the cross is being worn. This can be used to intimidate enemies of same or inferior class several times more effectively than typical spiritual pressure. What Kagami doesn't know is this hideous aura is very similar to Adalo De-Mona's, because what he also doesn't know is that the cross works not just on his anger, but by drawing from the inner darkness left behind in Kagami's soul by Adalo, and uses that reiatsu instead of Kagami's to produce the aura. The stronger the inner darkness left by Adalo De-Mona becomes, the stronger the cross's aura will become. It can only be resisted by someone who has either or both a 3 in Lack of Fear.
Price: Kagami acquires this from Arc 3 Preview: Not Knowledge, Merely Data
Like armageddon did the sky erupt in flame and mortar as magma and light and fire crackled and the heat and stone besieged the earth, descending from the heavens in meteor form as it came plunging, plunging, plunging, and then, suddenly... BOOM! Douma, Himitsu, and Aevus would have all felt the approach of that powerful reiatsu, and they would also hear the loud sound as it descended with a crash, shattering the sound barrier as it broke its descent against the earth and exploded against the ground in a flash of fire and light that was blinding to everyone involved.
It was sudden and fast and unexpected. It seemed to be the reiatsu of a Shinigami and it was of a caliber that would remind Douma of his adversaries such as Kashmir and Himitsu and Aevus of their faction's most powerful, even akin to the Captain Commander. But this was no mere enemy.
The large crater left in the earth sizzled with red hot glow and fire. At the center of it was a man, a Shinigami. Unlike the typical Shinigami who wore their black uniforms this man was dressed in the same shihakusho, but in white. As Captains did he wore a Haori over it, but that Haori was black. His clothes were regardless in tatters and he was covered in bruises and in blood, possibly his own or possibly the blood of someone else. The Shinigami looked stunned, dazed for seconds after landing.
Then as Douma, Aevus, and Himitsu's vision returned and any dared to get near and figure out what was doing on, his eyes snapped open and focused at attention instantaneously. The Shinigami looked around without moving, assessing the situation. His eyes settled on Himitsu and Aevus and he recognized them immediately as Shinigami, even saw one was a Captain and the other a Vice Captain. His eyes saw Douma, noting the Rogue.
He seemed to make an important decision to himself in a split second as he spoke to them, struggling to hoist himself up so that while still in the crater he at least sat upright. "Stop fighting each other." he commanded with the full force of his reiatsu and soul behind the command. "There's no time. My name is Shinsei Tan'O. I'm from the Zero Division." The ramifications of what he was saying were already momentous.
The Zero Division, here? The King's Royal Guard was legendary, and so mythical that on average only Captains were even allowed to know that it existed. Some Vice Captains had an inkling, and some had seen their Captains "promoted" out of the Seireitei. That had recently been the case with one Sozen Kuchiki. Shinsei stood to his full height. He was tall, lean, athletic. His face was chiseled. He was by all accounts that good looking hero the girls swooned over. But not today.
"You three." Shinsei commanded of those in front of him. "We need to go to the King's Palace right now. If we don't, then everyone in all three worlds is going to die."

Aevus sheltered himself away from prying eyes atop one of the many roofs, that surrounded that factory. Everything about this situation was tricky. Aevus would sigh, the fingers of his left hand stirring to the cold hilt of his Zanpakuto. To be assigned to another mission pertaining that masked man. That damn Angel of Silence. He wouldn’t lie; part of him wanted to take advantage of the situation, and just end that monster here and now. But another part of him hesitated. His hand shook on the hilt of his blade. He could remember that night clearly. He remembered seeing that room of death and blood. The bodies strewn across the floor like they were nothing but hunks of meat. The disgusting smell that lingered from that bloodshed.
He remembered how Douma had used the corpse of someone dear to him. He dared to use Aura to try and get what he wanted. The Hollow... He had known of that golden eyed creature that dwelled just behind his blue eyes. He also remembered Douma’s cowardice. How he hid the moment he underestimated his strength. Aevus knew he could have killed him. He should have been able to kill that damn masked fiend and oh did he want to at the time. But like now, part of him hesitated. He had been sloppy in his approach. He had wasted time, energy and his very reiatsu. Letting his emotions get the best of him rather foolishly. But that was it... He was a fool, a damn fool. He was tip toeing at the edge, and he didn’t know if he should jump or just cling on for dear life. He had absolutely no idea what he was going to do. But he knew one thing, he wasn’t going to betray Soul Society.
Silver eyes fell over the man as he stood perched atop that roof. The wolven spirit could sense that he was nervous but she was unsure why. Maybe he was worried that this fight would turn out just like the last? She thought to herself. In truth, Lumina was in the dark. Aevus never told her about the deal he made with Douma. He knew it was not a wise decision. Making a Faustian bargain never ended well. Douma may not have been the Devil but he might as well have been. ‘I’ll let him go, just this once.’ Douma had let him go after all. He had even saved his Zanpakuto Spirit. But this would be the end of it.
“Steady your resolve Aevus. Remember, we may not have to fight him again.” Lumina’s voice fell into him, echoing into the Shinigami’s ears like silver bells. She was right. Aevus would sigh. All he had to do was go along with the plan. He wasn’t here for Douma, not entirely anyway. He was here to be a distraction, potential backup if needed, and that was all. Himitsu had told him the plan just hours before. How had he already forgotten? "Heh I guess I am just a fool." Aevus whispered to himself.
It didn’t take long for Himitsu to release the signal. And it was a damn kido of all things. Lumina’s and Aevus’s eyes lit up as that branching and crackling light slammed into the wall of the factory. Heh it was a good thing this Captain was on his side. He may not have had a knack for Kido himself but he respected the power it held. He was ready to move on that signal and so was Lumina. But just as his eyes narrowed upon Douma’s white mask, he felt a reiatsu flare.
He stood frozen like a deer in headlights. His hand tightened on the hilt of his Zanpakuto. It was sudden and violent, almost like the sky was falling down upon them. The two didn’t understand what was happening. This shouldn’t have been happening at all. This wasn’t part of the plan. Something fell from the heavens and in a blinding light causing both the Shinigami and his Spirit to wince. Yet they couldn’t look away. They were drawn to that surging Reiatsu, like moths to a flame. When the light died, the two found themselves staring down upon a strange Shinigami.
Aevus listened as the man introduced himself. ‘Shinsei Tan'O...’ He had heard that name before, he swore he had. But where? It suddenly dawned upon him as a familiar face came to mind. Nathan: The young failure he had met so long ago. He remembered the boy was looking for his father. So a member of the zero division is Nathan's father? Fate was a silly thing sometimes. Aevus would stand up straight as he looked down upon the Shinigami. He was clearly shocked and in awe. His mouth nearly agape, he would attempt to steady his nerves. He didn’t know what was happening but it was clearly important. This Shinigami was a royal guard to the soul king. And judging from his tone lives were clearly in danger. That’s all he really needed to hear. “I’ll go with you.” He replied immediately. It could have been a number of things that made him answer the way he did, but for once today he didn’t hesitate.
"Stop fighting each other. There's no time. My name is Shinsei Tan'O. I'm from the Zero Division."Shinsei Tan’O… Douma recalled that name. It was one he had not heard in quite some time – a name that belonged to two notable individuals. First was that former Sexta Espada, Asuka Tan’O. The second was the name that belonged to this individual who appeared before them – Shinsei Tan’O, legendary Zero Division Soul Reaper. Douma had heard tales of Shinsei’s greatness early in his former career as a Shinigami. The Zero Division seemed more like a myth at the time, but Douma knew better now. Rumor had it that Shinsei and Asuka were romantically involved, but that detail was a little more difficult to verify. But rogue was less interested in that kind of gossip.
"We need to go to the King's Palace right now. If we don't, then everyone in all three worlds is going to die." Douma couldn’t help but feel that Shinsei was being overly dramatic. Would he really die if he didn’t rush to Shinsei’s aid? Most likely not. Douma was fairly good at staying alive, a skill he found invaluable in his line of work. But something told him that an appearance from a member of the Zero Division was not something to brush off. While Douma himself may not be directly threatened, he had a feeling that Shinsei’s request had something to do with the Soul King. Now that sounded like something Douma would be interested in.
But before the rogue could accept, a familiar voice answered Shinsei’s call. “I’ll go with you.” Douma knew that voice. He turned around and, surely, Aevus stood atop a rooftop several houses away. So Aevus was a part of this assault as well… Douma thoughtfully pondered the situation. While Aevus did ‘owe him one,’ he didn’t not trust the Vizard to betray a Captain of the Gotei 13. Aevus complicated things, but if Douma could manage to trigger the hollow take-over once again, it might give prove beneficial. He’d have to play his cards just right, but Aevus’s presence could just be the advantage he needed to gain a clear upper hand against Himitsu.
“I will join you as well,” he stated, sheathing his blade. “But you will need to explain the situation. How are the three worlds being threatened?”

"There's no time. My name is Shinsei Tan'O. I'm from the Zero Division." Himitsu’s expression shifted from one of caution to one of admiration. A member of the Zero Division was entrusted with the unparalleled responsibility of protecting the Soul King. Himitsu’d heard of a handful of their members, but this was his first time meeting one in person. Shinsei had immediately earned his respect. And now that a Zero Division member was present, Douma had no chance at victory anymore. His reign of terror was over.
But it appeared that Himitsu wrongfully assumed that Shinsei arrived to help bring the Angel of Silence down. No, his presence seemed to have a much greater purpose than the defeat of a simple black market lord like Douma. Something big was going on, too big for Shinsei to handle alone. "We need to go to the King's Palace right now. If we don't, then everyone in all three worlds is going to die." The star-struck smile faded from Himitsu’s lips immediately, replaced by a look of stern determination. Looks like we’re going to put this Douma thing on hold, he instructed the ladybug in his hair.
Douma and Aevus both agreed rather quickly. Maybe Douma accepted Shinsei’s request out of self-preservation, or maybe he secretly found appeal in a greater calling. Himitsu’d have to investigate the rogue’s motives more in the near future, especially if he could find a silver of good in Douma’s heart. Just a silver might be enough to redeem the rogue.
“Soul reapers, disengage!” Himitsu commanded the Shinigami below him. For the most part, the fighting between Douma’s thugs and his subordinates had been halted by Shinsei’s arrival, but he had to make it clear that they were no longer going to battle with the rogue. “All of you, return to Soul Society. Report this incident to the Captain Commander immediately. Aevus and I will accompany Shinsei Tan’O.” You join them too, Volucris. The little ladybug fluttered away from Himitsu’s head, hesistantly looking back before it ran to catch up with the rest of the retreating Shinigami.
Are you sure?
Yeah, bud. I might not make it back from this one, so I need you to update the Captain Commander or whoever else in Squad 1 is available. Tell them in real-time what I experience and learn about this threat. And if I die trying to stop it, I hope they get some useful information out of me. Hopefully, that death won’t be in vain.
