Name: Lore of the Wild: Eden-Bound
Participants: Three participants; Shinigami and Beast-Clansman only. Class 5-3 recommended.
Location: The Beast Realm: Eden
Difficulty Level: Medium-Hard
Setting: DE
Plotline: This is the sequel to Lore of the Wild, Part 1: Tooth and Claw
Recently, the Beast-Clansmen have been in an uproar, with unprecedented numbers of them gathering in the World of the Living. Centered in an area known simply as Sanctuary, a remote region that exists solely as a safe haven for the Beast-Clansmen, a meeting was held. This meeting was held to create an alliance of the many Beast-Clansman packs, either under a single ruling pack or as a unified group.
But there is also another purpose to this meeting. The Scylding Clan has come forward with both a claim and a demand: they have discovered entrance to the Beast Realm, the land from which all Beast-Clansmen originate. This land is known to all Beast-Clansmen only through hazy memory, as their originally human souls progress to that realm for only a short period before returning to the known worlds in their animal-like forms. To many, this is a land of origin, and more importantly, it is a land away from humans, Shinigami, and Hollows alike; this is their home, and it is a safe haven separated not by distance, but by being an entirely separate world divided by the others.
The demand was simple: to gain access to the Beast-Realm, those interested only had to swear fealty to the Scylding Clan, making the pack of leonine Beast-Clansmen the impromptu leaders of the many groups that wished to return to their home realm. Though promises of independence and self-autonomy were given, many resisted this demand, choosing instead to claim their own destinies, rather than letting another pack choose for them. Negotiations began in full swing, though many came to the point of combat among the lesser members of various packs. The alphas, on the other hand, convened to discuss and converse.
In this time, several people involved themselves in the negotiations in some form, including Kimiko Shihoin and Aevus Renard of the Shinigami. However, the unexpected occurred as Eadgils, the leader of the Scylding Clan, was unexpectedly struck down with a deadly venom, his condition unstable and his future unknown. His son, Skofnung, took over the meeting, and calling upon Kimiko’s judgment as the Shinigami representative, brought the alliance to the agreement that the Beast-Realm would be shared with all, with future governing to be determined once their homeland was reclaimed. In return, the Shinigami were granted free access to study the Beast-Realm so long as their studies remained non-invasive and were monitored by the Beast-Clansmen. The safety of their home is priority over the curiosity of the Shinigami, after all.
And now we come to the present. Two weeks have passed since the Eden, the name given to the Beast-Realm by Skofnung, has become free to access for both the Shinigami and the Beast-Clansmen. A single portal to this realm exists in Seireitei, near the Senkaimon Gates, while a second is available in the World of the Living through Sanctuary, but is only available for the Beast-Clansmen to use. Two weeks has given those who have come to this land time to settle, with packs claiming small territories to be slowly expanded at a later point. Skofnung and his pack have kept an eye on each group, settling any territory disputes and ensuring general quiet in the meantime. =
But now, a scout has come with word of a city discovered past the expanse of a broad plain, a few hours travel away from the portal to Eden. Not knowing who occupies the city and what their inclination towards the Beast-Clansmen will be, Skofnung has called upon the Shinigami to travel with him to extend greetings to their new neighbor, hoping to begin with overtures of peace rather than giving a declaration of war. In exchange, Seireitei has sent a few of their members to escort Skofnung, ensuring his safety as well as gathering intelligence on those who already live in Eden. A few of the Beast-Clansmen, both those who have settled in Eden and those who still live in Soul Society, have also joined the visit.
Those who join will have two major missions: to learn more about the inhabitants of the great city, and to protect Skofnung in the event that negotiations break down. The latter applies to the Beast-Clansmen who are accompanying in particular; they are only being allowed as bodyguards, rather than being freely loosed to explore the city. Skofnung is keeping a tight rein on the party in order to ensure that the wrong message does not come across to the city’s ruler, and will dismiss those who try and act out of turn if necessary.
