Ooc: Training for Sp
After I had returned to the Soul Society, I had been given a proverbial pat on the back, and a job well done. My suggestions on how to fix the many glaring flaws in our... In their system. I refused to become one of them. Not until something changed. Regardless of what I said, or the logic behind my words, the refused to take me seriously, writing them off as the new guy complaining. Told me that the system was fine, that it had been working for thousands of years and the world had yet to end. They dismissed me entirely.
Fine then. That would only further my resolve. I would not be stopped so easily. I immediately requested to be sent back out, garnering odd looks from those who assigned the missions. They tried to reason with me, saying that there was no need to go back out again so soon. I disagreed, and eventually they allowed it. I was given a larger budget then last time, and also had the earnings from the last one, meaning I had a decent amount to indulge my hobbies with... Now I just needed to find a hobby to use it on.
I returned to my barracks for the night, having no choice under orders. Something about not overworking myself. Their concerns were unwanted, but none the less appreciated. Be it real or fake, it felt nice to be thought of. As I tried to sleep, waiting inpatiently for the morning to come, several members of my squad approached me. I took to wearing my mask as soon as it was clear they were coming to speak with me. About what, I did not know, but I was sure it would be something related to my trip to the living world.
And sure enough, I was right. "Hey, uh, Conner, right?" The lead man asked, flanked by another man to his right, and a woman on his left. The lead was average in... Almost every way. Standard height of five ten for a Japanese male. His face was unimpressive, but far from being considered ugly. His hair was black, and about two inches long, hanging unstyled. He was wearing little in the way of clothing, only pants, and the odd white robes we were all forced to wear. I knew not his name, but he knew mine. That set me on edge, no matter how unwarranted it was.
The man seemed to only wish to chat, as did those in his company. I would see what they wanted. "Y-yes. How may I h-help you?" I asked in a dull tone, cursing myself for my stutter. The woman to his side grinned a little too viciously, and struck. "I have a list of ways you could help, big guy~." She said to me in a flirting tone. As socially inept as I was, I was fairly perceptive. It also helped that she made it as obvious as physically possible. She smirked a little as I recoiled a bit at her words. She was buttering be up for something, I just knew it.
The woman was attractive, and that was only putting it lightly. She was on the taller side, standing at what I guessed was six foot five, a full head above the other two men, but still shorter then myself. She had taken... A proverbial chainsaw to her uniform with how modified it was. The robes most of the resorts wore had been changed into a dress, and a strapless one at that. It hugged her shapely figure a little too well, and was bordering on indecent. No, worse, it was as if the dress had set up a camp on the line, daring it.
It put far too much cleavage on display, and took all my willpower not to stare at them instead of her smirking face. The devious woman knew exactly what she was doing. She had long red hair and I was unable to tell how long it was without risking my focus. She was shamelessly showing herself off, leaning forward. I was glad I was wearing my mask, because my had to be red at this point. She moved her hand, and pulled something out of her cleavage, and I could feel my neck heat up. I was not prepared for this. Not prepared for this at all.
"Us girls in the Women's Association were wondering if you could get us a few things. You know, since you're going to the living world anyway~." Her voice was almost like an instrument in how sweet it sounded. She held the list in front of me. I nervously took it in my near shaking hand. She finally stood up straight, giving me a moment of repreive. I glanced up at her smirking face, before actually looking at what she practically forced into my hand. It was, in fact, a list of things she wanted from me. Go figure.
Most of the things were probably hard to get... No, were almost impossible to find in the Soul Society. Makeup, shampoo and Conditioner, various adult things that I really did not need to see, the usual things I would prefer not to think about before sleep. Each item had a small picture beside it, or various instructions on how and where to get it, or how it store it and when to buy it for food items. It was a decent list, but you could tell it was made at the last minute. I had to wonder if this why I had to stay behind a day.
I had to look at the woman. My head ways tilted to the side, since she would be unable to see how far both of my eyebrows were raised. The man on the other opposite side, whom I had not noticed due to two... Things, made himself known. His hair was a light orange, with what I could only describe as lightning bolts streaking through. His hair was pointed up by the way. He looked nervous, and held a list before me as well. "We of the Men's Association would also like to request several items as well." He said in an assertive voice, that was definitely too loud for this time of night.
He was a very fit man, buff, broad shoulders, standing tall at what seemed to be six feet. Yet he was nervous. Was I the reason? I highly doubted it. The more likely reason was probably the representative of this Women Association thing. It seemed he considered her his competition. The feeling did not seem to be returned. His list, much like hers, was full of items hard to obtain here, but not nearly as long. "This is a small list of things we would like you to pick up. We will pay you in advance for the items only. If you complete the list, you will revive a bonus from us." He told me.
The woman nodded her head. "Same with us. Can't trust you with too much yet. And don't go spending our money on other stuff. We have ways of dealing with thrives." Her glare was as cold as death, and was mirrored by my her male opposite. They turned to leave, as if my answer was just a forgone conclusion. "We will send someone to you for the initial payment, based on the average prices of the items in the morning. Good night." His stiff military tone informed me, as they both left not a moment later, not giving me a chance to turn them down.
My head was praticly spinning at all the new information. Gendered associations? Shopping lists? Why was I their shopping cart? If they wanted to buy something, they could do it themselves! I was about to tell them off for just that, when the lamead man put his hand on my shoulder, preventing me from getting up. He was deceptively strong. "I know what you're thinking, but don't. It won't help you in the long run." Great. It seemed that these two had influence. "His name is Ellard, and she was Kira. They have other guys even if you turn them down. Good way to get some cash on the side too."
This was wrong. He was supposed to be guiding the dead to the afterlife, not... Not whatever this was! "My job is to pass along souls, not to pickup whatever nonsense someone asks me to." I said in a grave tone. He looked at me oddly. "So, you would you be against taking one more list? From your squad?" He said in an annoying chipper tone. The pleading smile made it so I really could not say no. I let out a withering sigh, before saying fine, placing the two lists nearby, before he added his own. My last though before I drifted off to sleep, was simply, this is going to be a long month.
