"WHAT'S DER KAISER?"
What...? Souza showed mild surprise. He had just finished up with his phone call, only to have the beastly creature that had almost been seduced by the power of the Vandenreich looking at him, barking a question. At first, Souza's instinctive thought was this thing had been sent to spy on him or to attack him, but the Quincy's hold on the creature couldn't possibly be that strong so soon. It had been clear she was still trying to win it over. She was also nowhere in sight, and anyway he could sense generally how far away she was. She wasn't trying to distract him. No, this creature had just come to Souza of its own volition. Judging it, he noted its mind to be quite primitive.
...Could this be the secret, then? Not commands, but kindness. This would win out. Souza decided to answer. "Hmm, well, think of that up there," Souza said, pointing upward at the sun as he answered this beast clansman before him. "Der Kaiser is an evil version of that." He didn't know how best to describe it. Did the creature understand the concept of a god? Probably not. But, even in its simplest form, it should understand that the sun was what gave it life and warmth. And provided it understood the word "evil," then it was a simple matter for it to deduce that Der Kaiser was very bad. Plus, that would help it to steer clear of the Quincy from earlier.
Good thing, too. Hopefully, this creature was not in danger of being completely enslaved by Amalia. Meanwhile, Rebecca was just then getting out of the bathroom, teary eyed. Souza did feel bad for what he had said and what he had done. For the lies. For leading her on. He recalled speaking of it to his cousin, Asura, who had asked him about girls. Her voice reverberated in his mind. "Why do you lie to all of these girls when you end things with them? Why not tell them the truth, that you just aren't interested?" And Souza had thought long and hard about it. In a way, he might even be aware of why. He had answered at the time, "I don't know. I just do. It feels as though I'm doomed to sabotage everything."
The rest of the time with Rebecca, of course, was dismal. Souza called one of his most trusted chauffeurs to drive her home. She said it was a good thing he was rich, and that he could afford to send her alone, without him. She didn't want to look at him for another second. It also turned out her friends were right. He was just a typical asshole who led girls on. Souza objected to none of these things, and soon the girl was gone. She hadn't commented on the "dog," though that depended on whether or not Zahra had chosen to follow Souza this whole time as he walked Rebecca to the exit. With her leaving, Souza was now alone, or at the very least, with Zahra.
He decided then that if he was here, he might as well start investigating more. On the way, however, Souza found the coin he'd flicked at the Quincy earlier, just laying there on the ground. He figured someone would have taken it by now, but, given they hadn't, he had a great idea. Souza bent down, picking up the coin, and started walking in the direction of the Quincy's reiatsu. He wasn't sure quite where to begin his search, so he figured he'd keep an eye on the Vandenreich's Captain Supervisor while he was here. Judging by her reaction to lack of reiatsu, she was very reliant on it, as was expected of Quincy. Souza was less so, and felt confident in being around her for that reason.
Also.. He did want to annoy her a bit. It had probably been about an hour by the time Souza tracked her to the place where she was eating. She was probably close to finishing her food. Whether or not Zahra had followed Souza the whole time remained to be seen. Souza noted Amalia immediately, and approached her table, deciding at once to be cheeky. With his hand held up in a greeting and a large smile on his face, Souza proclaimed, "Heyyy, Quincy! Fancy running into you here!" He sat down at her table with no reservations, not bothering at all to ask. Immediately she might notice that even in the way her so casually sat down, the grace with which the action was performed was the pinnacle of such performance.
His body melted into it like a swan caressing the water in which it was born. Even when he attempted to appear lazy, Souza gave every subtle part of his body language and facial expression a very deliberate, well practiced dignity. As he fell into the chair, servers were at once upon him. "It's good timing, though, actually!" Souza said. He dropped the coin from earlier in front of Amalia. [color=mediumPurple"You forgot this somewhere! I'm glad I was able to return it to you!"[/color] As if that wasn't enough, however, Souza's attention next turned to the servers. "Chateau Margaux," he said. "W...we don't have that here..." the waiter stammered. Souza was not even remotely perturbed.
"Oh?" he mused. "In that case, Chateau Montrose." The server nodded hurriedly and disappeared. Indeed, to add to all of the impunity, the servers had agreed to serve Souza alcohol even though they had refused Amalia the same! Perhaps it was a result of how much he looked like he belonged? Or maybe they didn't think that she looked to be of age. Regardless, she now had this scarlet-eyed companion sitting across from her. Souza should have known better, actually. Margaux ran for 12,000 US dollars, while Montrose only ran for $175. A place like this wouldn't have something up to his preference, but he was willing to bet that Montrose was the best that they had on shelf right now.
"Oh, by the way," Souza said with a smile to Amalia, despite seeing that she clearly recognized him by reputation and knew exactly who he was. "I'm Souza Kuchiki."
