Thread Title: Reliving Nightmares (Osen Active) Participants: Garret and Aevus World: Human World Death Setting: Non Death Enabled Rating: R Location: A murky wetlands at dusk covered by an abundance of trees. Dark clouds loom over the horizon hinting at the possibility of a storm.
Special Conditions: Osen Active: 4 and under hollow/Arrancar can invade freely at anytime. Over class 4 needs permission from either of the two participants.
Circumstances: Garret is seeking solitude in the waning hours of day while Aevus is merely hunting hollows to tone his skills yet subconsciously being pulled towards the Wander by the impulses of his inner hollow.
Cursing under his breath as his foot yet again sank beneath the mud, Garret began to wonder why he had chosen this path instead of taking the extra time to navigate elsewhere. His travels had him going nowhere fast, simply walking in whatever direction he faced, never really knowing where he was going, and now he found himself somewhere he didn't want to be. In the middle of a quagmire with his foot sunk into mud again. Looking back at the trail he had came from, he criticized his lack of attention to his surroundings. Had he simply looked to either his right or left while walking on what seemed to have been the only trail of solid land, he would have seen that he was surrounded by swamp
Grumbling and grabbing ahold of an aquatic tree, he pulled his foot free with a satisfying pop from the mud. When it came back down, though, it stopped as if pressed against some invisible ground hanging in the air. With a look of uncertainty, Garret pushed himself up and onto the airground, standing still for a second as he tested to make sure it was stable. In all honesty, he was not very proficient with anything regarding the spiritual energy called reiatsu. Even something as simple as airground, a child's trick for most Shinigami, was something of difficulty for the brute. But considering the fact that Garret was going to be walking into a swamp of unknown depth in just a couple of feet, that most certainly had unseen dangers beneath the surface, it was better safe than sorry.
After all, the swordsman had two concerns on his mind. Firstly was the change in pressure in the air, coupled with the booms he was hearing behind him. Turning around had confirmed what he was feeling, that a storm was heading in his direction, and considering the sounds and blackness of the clouds it was going to be a big one. Not only that, but Garret could see the curtain of grey beneath the clouds, showing that there was in fact a heavy downpour of rain. That wasn't the primary issue though, but it was going to make the bigger one even more troublesome. The other issue was that it was nearing night. Garret was desperately trying to find stable ground in preparations for his nightly battles.
As he walked though he paused, narrowing his eye as he turned around in the direction of the storm. There it was again. That feeling of being...watched. It wasn't that he could sense anything, it was just that he was more in tune to his animalistic sensations than most where. He felt...uncomfortable. Whether it was an animal or not, Garret made a mental note to keep his guard up. Night was coming soon, but that didn't mean that something couldn't happen now.
So he walked, trying to remain concentrated on his airground so that he wouldn't fall in. He had no idea how deep the water beneath him was, ranging from either knee deep to something like a lake. As he walked he reached up, grasping the hilt of that weapon across his back. His black cape wrapped around him, obscuring his form beneath its fabric. The mans eye danced back and forth slowly, watching the waters surface as he walked. A sound to his right caught his attention, prompting him to turn his head to catch, for a moment, the sight of a scaled tail slipping beneath the surface of the water. Narrowing his eye, Garret tightened his grip on the bandaged grip of his weapon, moving much slower now
Almost a minute later, the water beside him exploded as a mass erupted from beneath the surface. A white mouth opened up for him, followed by a loud hiss as the animal aimed to bit into Garret. The swordsman ducked quickly, pulling his sword free as he spun his body and swung. The great mass he called a sword cleaved through the side of the the reptile, sending its upper and lower halves back down into the depths below. That little tactic, though, caused Garret to lose his focus on the reishi at his feet, causing him to fall sideways into the murky depths. Struggling to both maintain a grip on his sword, and return to the surface, Garret kicked and swung his arm. Curse his inability to swim very well!
Breathing the surface he took a breath, climbing out and back onto airground. With a breath he pulled himself up, grumbling under his breath as he pulled a few soggy leaves from his hair. Well, he didn't need to worry about the rain now did he? He was already wet after all! Looking back at the storm, Garret grit his teeth and began to dash. The sound of thunder was right on his tail, the ear piecing cracks were getting closure as Garrets vision began to darken. It wasn't that he was ill, it was that the night was getting closer. Clearing the lack, Garret launched himself from the airground and came skidding to a halt through some mud. "Damn it.." He mumbled, still unhappy that he was caught in the mud. But, this batch seemed more "solid" than the last, enough so that Garret wasn't sinking into it. But he was sure that would change once it began raining.
He kept moving deeper in, trying to clear the quagmire as both the night and storm rapidly approached. Rain was already hitting him. At first it was light, but soon it was like a waterfall. He pulled the hood of his cloak up, protecting his head somewhat as he navigated through swamp and tree. The crack of thunder and flash of lightning above him confirmed what he already knew, the storm was on top of him. But that wasn't all. He heard the howls first, before seeing the yellow eyes rushing at him. Shit! he adjusted his grip, pointing the flat of his blade between him and the Hollow. Sure enough the dumb creature tried to slam its hand into the weapon, though it lacked the physical strength to actually do much of anything. With a snarl, Garret pushed back, ducking beneath its arm and approaching its chubby body. Using his weight as the driving force, Garret slashed what he could of his blade into the Hollows body, pushing with his mass and strength to force the weapon with no initial momentum through the Hollows flesh. With a roar he tore his blade free, releasing a torrent of monster blood into the world. With a spin he smashed the blades pummel into the Hollows mask before moving on.
He could hear the splashes, the snapping of wood, the howls around him. This wasn't good, at all. Garrets three primary senses were being muted by the rain. His vision was obscured by the night, his hearing dampened by the rain and thunder, and his sense of smell stopped by the swamps stank. He wasn't blind, but it was hard. Garret saw another one, but not its form at first. He saw the yellow eyes running beside him a ways off, before rapidly approaching, dodging between the trees as it did so. A flash of lightning illuminated its form, something akin to a fusion of a hound and rat with some sort of proboscis emerging from its head. It dodged between trees before leaping at him, the mask opened up to reveal its two mouths. Garret tightened his grip and locked himself down, swinging his sword over his head and right down onto the jumping hound. The sword came down, crashing into the monster and smashing it down into the swamp causing an explosion of blood, muck, and water.
Pulling his sword free, Garret spun around and scanned what was around him. Looking for more glowing pairs of yellow eyes, Garret almost felt realized that he didn't see any...but he sure heard them. "Kehehehe!!" came laughter from above, prompting him to look up in time to see something above him. He only noticed the pair of curved wings that suddenly flapped downwards, releasing a flurry of glowing objects at the swordsman.
Garret reacted quickly, dashing away from where he stood and getting glimpse of the lights erupted once they hit the ground, as he tumbled. Rolling back to his feet, Garret saw the Hollow curving its wings back again in preparation. Raising his sword in preparation, Garret was caught unaware of the blindside that had just happened. The collision knocked the air out of him, as well as some blood, flinging him through a tree and sending him rolling across the quagmire. Slowly getting to his knees, and coughing, he looked for what had hit him...but saw nothing. "You bastard! How was that fair?? He's mine!!" the flying Hollow shouted at something that wasn't there. "Get over it. He's fair game." Came another voice, but from where?? It was still unsettling hearing Hollows talk, especially to each other, but Garret was trying to figure out where the second one was.
"I swear you bastard, once I eat this Shinigami I'm coming after you next!!" the flying Hollow shouted, throwing its wings back again. Garret now noticed the glowing scales in the wings, getting ready for the ranged attack again. As the Hollow swung its wings again, Garret noticed a sound to his left. Turning himself and his sword, he was thrown back once again by an unseen force...though this time the damage was absorbed by the sword. Wincing as he landed, Garret got to see the scales explode against the outline of...something. It became seeable after being hit. Garrets eye widened, before narrowing menacingly.
"You stupid fuck! Watch where you're aiming those things!" The invisible Hollow shouted, kicking up some water in anger. "Ohhh what's wrong? Did I hurt you??" the flying Hollow shouted back. "I have half a mind to come up there an-" And suddenly it stopped talking. Moments earlier Garret was back on his feet with his sword pointed forward like a lance. So long as it kept talking, Garret knew where it was. And then he vanished, only to reappear a moment later inside the split in two Hollow. It let out a screech of pain before it expired, collapsing down around the swordsman as he pulled himself free. Shunpo was a wonderful thing.
The Hollow above him let out a gasp of surprise, before Garret dug his fingers into the stag beetle shaped Hollow that had been tackling him. "If you're so damn hungry...then eat this!!" Garret roared as he literally hurled the massive corpse at the flying monster. Time seemed to slow down as the Hollow tried to fly backwards, away from the mass, and as Garret leapt up after the corpse. With sword overheard, and hidden behind the body, Garret swung downwards. From the Hollows perspective, the corpse would explode with yellow light, ripping what was left into two halves that was eaten by the light. That same light flew forward, colliding and consuming the flying Hollow. Garret now standing on airground, couldn't help but love the Sakugen technique.
Descending back down the quagmire below, Garret looked around. Gritting his teeth he watched as more of those yellow eyes approached. Soon enough he was surrounded, Hollows of various shapes and sizes, only visible during the flashes of lightning. He heard the laughter, the roars, he knew they were both hungry and hesitant. They could feel he was strong. "Come on...don't stop now you cowards! The night is young, we still have so long to play with each other!! Come on!!" Garret shouted, swinging his sword through the air, throwing a spray of blood through the air. The growling intensified, as the Hollows got ready...but then they stopped. Screams from behind him caught all their attention, causing Garret to turn.
Three of them had fallen, an unknown individual stood before the corpses facing towards Garret. A new enemy? Garret turned, pointing his blade at obscured person. They looked...like a person. But in this darkness it was hard to tell. A flash of lightning though gave Garret his answer. He saw the robes, the glimmering thin sword, and knew what was before him. "Shinigami." What now? What was he here for? He looked like a kid, but Garret knew that looks were deceiving for these false gods. One could look like an adolescent and be in their hundreds. The Rogue kept his blade up, aware of the Shinigami and the Hollows that grew more impatient as they waited, fear and curiosity keeping them at bay for now.

Light held the edges of the horizon as night slowly began to take reign. Dusk sheltered that faltering sunset. A storm loomed over the sky chasing the light away from the very jaws of day. “Aevus?” Tired blues would awaken to the gentle voice of his Zanpakuto spirit. Sleep still hadn’t come to the man in days and he was beginning to feel the negative effects from it. He was starting to see that yellow eyed vixen even in his wakeful hours. She was haunting every corner of his mind and staying awake wasn’t helping his cause. He simply couldn’t escape her.
“You were dazing off again.“ Aevus’s cold gaze fell to a darkening sky that loomed just over the horizon. Tapping the handle of his Zanpakuto he would let loose a sigh. Not only night but a storm was beginning to take hold over the land. It was beautiful yet a truly worrisome sight. “I was just lost in thought.” lumina's voice meandered through the mans mind. “You should get some rest, you don't need to be going on another hunt tonight...” Aevus would grip the handle of his Zanpakuto at that. “It’s all that’s keeping me awake.” All that’s keeping her at bay.
All was still, there was no stars, no moon nor light. The sound of thunder echoed, crackling through the drowning land. All but glowing eyes, dancing subtly like fireflies cornered a stranger clad in black. The wanderer would be able to see the yellow visages of monsters staring back at him yet a pair of cold sapphires slightly dulled by the drowning darkness also hid in the mix. The smell of the swamps foul air masked the smell of freshly drawn blood as cold blues sheltered the fading form of a stranger.
The source of that pull was emanating from that rugged stranger and the pale faced reaper detested its very existence. His face held little if no expression yet it had been mostly veiled by his hood. It was an expression simply and seemingly devoid of emotion, as if he was wearing a mask. A hint of darkness flooded his right eye hinting at the possibility of hollowfication and yet Aevus didn’t seem to concerned. No it was the opposite it was as if he was letting the corruption slowly take hold of him.
Aevus would faintly grin at the mention of be regarded as a Shinigami allowing that emotionless visage fade with the light from the storm. A whip of his blade would remove the disgusting mess that was clinging to his Zanpakuto. The three hollows that he had just slain were but childs play and they held little sport for the man. It was time to test deeper waters. Not a soul chain in sight, nor did the stranger resemble an akki of any kind. This meant only one thing, he was in the presence of a rogue.
Pouring reiatsu into the sheath of his artifical Zanapakuto he would ready himself, his feet gently placed above the murky waters utilizing air ground. That smirk would disappear and next so would he. His Zanpakuto held into the depths of the water, he would run atop its make heading straight towards the rogue. light eroded the area, in a luminous lightning bolt. Crackling thunder could be heard trailing off in the distance of his rippling footsteps. As darkness began to fall over the land another bolt of lightning would strike and he to would strike. Attempting to cut upwards across the rogues very chest as the thunderclap echoed and light would fade but again.
The swordsman narrowed his eye as he was met with silence from the new arrival. The Hollows, however, continued to voice their own concerns and displeasure, moaning with howls and threats as their patience began to run thin. He noticed the grin though, one that caused Garret to tighten his grip on his weapon. What was going on? Why was the Shinigami not answering him? Garret didn't like this, the memories of old coming forth and reminding him of what this could be. He recognized this feeling, the pressure in the air from his living days, as he began to figure out what was about to happen. And sure enough the Shinigami confirmed his suspicions. He came charging.
Garret noticed the sword held low, bringing his right leg back and pulled his arms in. Raising his sword a tad, Garret blocked the Shinigamis swing with the sheer size of his weapon. "Tch" Garret was about to respond with an attack of his own, but the sudden increase in volume of Hollow noises caught his attention. Movement in the peripheral of his left eye caused him to jump backwards, disconnecting his sword from the Shinigamis, as numerous Hollows tried to dogpile right onto where he had been standing. "Hey, they're fighting. Why are they fighting. The scent. It doesn't matter. The scent. I don't want to die. Get out of my way. The scent. Who to eat first. Stop touching me. The scent." the endless prattle of the Hollows was beginning to get on Garrets nerves.
Coming to a stop on some newly applied airground, Garret quickly swung his sword to his right as he heard the sounds of approach. Sure enough, his gargantuan blade sunk through the flesh of a hungry demon, ripping into it and letting free a spray of blood. "What the hell is your problem, Shinigami!?" Garret shouted at Aevus, who no doubt was having his own problems with the Hollows. The sounds of the rain and thunder were making it hard to hear anything, and thankfully these Hollows didn't seem to be as bright as the invisible beetle from before. At least, Garret thought so.
Glancing back and forth, all Garret could not see very far into the darkness, the Hollows seeming to instinctively play off of his shortened vision and remaining just out of his light. Their yellow eyes continued to glow, pacing around in the darkness or simply remaining still as they waited for their own turn. "You're making a mistake here, Shinigami, attacking me like this." Garret spoke, pointing his sword at the Shinigami in order to try and get his point across.
But it didn't make sense. Why was a Shinigami attacking him? Garret remembered what Azumi had said a long time ago, that there were some in the Seireitei that suggested that Garret be executed due to his curses effects, but the theory that if he were to die his curse would escape had stayed that notion. Had that been proven false? Was the Shinigami here to try and kill Garret to end his curses effects? The idea sounded solid, and something that Garret could have even been in support of he wasn't aware of how his curse worked.
Even if he were to die, the curse would still persist. There was no escape for him. So if the Shinigami really was here to try and kill him, Garret would be fighting back. Unfortunately, though, the Shinigami was not the only thing that Garret would be fighting it seemed. He heard a roar, catching his attention as a ape shaped Hollow began to rush towards him. Garret stood ready, but then watched as the massive creature wrapped one of its massive hands around the trunk of a tree. With a mighty lurch it freed the roots from the mud, holding it high over head like a club.
Gritting his teeth, Garret watched the Hollow carefully as he tried to anticipate how it was going to swing that new weapon around. He still needed to pay attention to the Shinigami though, so Garret was having to divert his attention to do that as well. The ape screeched at Garret, rushing at him once again as it swung the tree downward in a simple swing. Side stepping and jumping up off of airground, Garret aimed to crash his weapon down on the Hollows arm to sever it. However, that did not seem to be happening right now. As the sword came down, Garret noticed something in the Hollows dark fur.
As his sword came down, something came out. A white protrusion, covered in what seemed to be blood and grime, clashed with Garrets blade causing the sword to falter and be pushed aside. Tilting his head to avoid being impaled through the head, Garret bounced away with airground and back to the marsh below. Hissing through his teeth, Garret watched as the protrusion sank back in below the fur as the Hollow began screeching again. This wasn't going to be fun. One of those Hollows that messed with his attempts at close combat again. He needed to figure out a way to deal with it, and keep his eye on the Shinigami.
{Osen Explanation} Since it is currently night time in this thread, and if it isnt obvious already, Garrets Osen is currently activated. This means that any Hollow or Arrancar that is equal to or below Garrets current Class (4) is allowed to invade this thread without mine or Bo's permission. This is how Garrets Osen works. Hollows treat this thread like a Rampage Thread and are awarded as such, though Shinigami cannot invade this thread in response.

Aevus’s cold sapphire’s met the single dull grey iris of the rogue as his Zanpakuto connected to his behemoth of a sword, if it could even be called a sword. He felt the weight from the weapon and his arm and Zanpakuto reverberated faintly sending a sharp chill up his spine. This Rogue was strong, he had to be strong to wield such a monster of a weapon. An ominous yet lighthearted giggle would sound within inner recesses of his being as he’d dash backwards catching himself on air ground, the darkness from before stirring in his right eye once again.
He would note the hollows who sloppily attempted to attack the rogue, all forming a dog pile on top of one another. A dark mass dashed past him and with a twirl of his blade he’d cut cleanly through the yellow eyed beast while his attention kept to the Rogue. At least he would attempt at doing so. The beast shifted its body like that of a snake causing Aevus to swiftly slash once more to get its attention. A hiss fell forth from the snake hollow as it lunged towards the pale faced reaper.
Bringing up the blunt end of his blade Aevus had found himself sent back, his air ground keeping him level as he did so. Within a flash he’d change the direction of his weapon slicing the slithery beast in two with one fluid strike. A flash of lightning would reveal those tired eyes of his, his right now slowly returning to its natural hue of blue as if the light was chasing the darkness away. The constant echoing of the monsters dampened the land, thunder only drowning out the constant prattle for a time.
"What the hell is your problem, Shinigami!?"
His attention would return to the Rogue as he would hear the man speak. There it was again, that title, a single swipe of his blade would remove the mess that slithery hollow had left him. A droplet of rain fell from the tip of his blade sending another ripple to the murk below. Unspeaking a single blink would bring the pale faced reaper where a white paw would send but a ripple through the cyanic waters. A bioluminescent forest surrounded Aevus as he came face to face with the lupine visage of his Zanpakuto spirit.
Her silver lined eyes sheltered his tired gaze and a disappointed expression painted her facade. “You have beckoned her call, haven't you Aevus?” She would tie him in place with her eyes alone, her warm voice now sternly placed. Aevus didn’t have an answer as he held his Zanpakuto to his side. He would sigh as his cold blues left the silver lined lupine gaze. “Don't be stubborn, your eyes are beginning to not be your own and it's because you have not slept in days." She would sigh gently as she continued.
"You know you cannot fight like this in your condition.” Aevus’s left hand would curl tightly around the handle of his Zanpakuto as he fixated his attention to the wolf. “Lumina I know what i’m doing, I don’t need your guidance.” A snarl fell from the maw of the wolf, her white canines flashing as she let into her emotions. “Do you? Cause it just seems like your mindlessly throwing us at this Rogue!”
The wolf would retreat from her anger, shaking her head a low whine replacing that snarl. Her moonlit eyes would droop along with her ears and tail. “I know you want to purify them but you cannot save them all by yourself, not how you are tonight.” Her voice fell to but a silencing echo. "“Lumina..” But she would not hear him out, turning away from the Shingami all together. The waters rippled from her drooping tail as she began to make her way away from him. “Your stubbornness confounds this one, but to try and change your mind would be a fools errand. Tread carefully Aevus and please take heed of what Lumina has said. You cannot do this alone.”
Her ears would flicker in Aevus’s direction as he spoke. “I’m not alone, I have you.” Lumina's silver eyes would widen from surprise as the Shingami spoke and slowly return to normal as she turned to meet him. Her voice would soften as her moonlit gaze fell to the Shinigami, her ears perking gently as a sigh lightly left her with a reply. "So you do.” She spoke as if hearing his voice as one would confide to a child. As if he was merely trying to make her hear what she wanted and not what he actually felt.
"You're making a mistake here, Shinigami, attacking me like this."
Aevus’s sapphire eyes would open to the Rogue as if he was just blinking. Time moved slowly in the world of his Zanpakuto so it had just been a second or two in the real world. The darkness sheltered the forms of hollows and one had found itself attacking the Rogue. An ape like creature from the looks and it seemed like the bulk of a man was having at least some trouble. It was abnormal but all Hollows in some way or another were unique, some more than others.
As another beast swooped past him, the Shinigami would find his mark slicing the creature in two. This one had not been paying him any mind and was to preoccupied with that scent. That scent, what exactly was calling these hollows to him? Was he doing it on purpose or was there something more sinister going on? Aevus knew not and at the moment cared not. A glint of light eroded the area, keeping his blade out before him in a reverse grip, Aevus would not give an inch.
His fingers tapped his Zanpakuto and for a second he could feel the inner confliction of his blade testing him. That tension swooned over him and drove him into a wild state of mind. Why had he just attacked this rogue? Was it because of the weapon he wielded? Was it because he was killing hollows, severing their spirits from ever being purified? What was it? The rain pounded against his hood as he eyed the rogue, his cold blues colliding against his one dark grey iris.
He was at an impasse as his focus shifted to both the hollows and the Rogue. Pouring more reiatsu into the sheath of his artifical Zanpakuto he would Shunpo to the rogue, his blade aiming directly for his right thigh in an attempt to rid him of movement. If he missed or even if he hit, he would shunpo to the darkening trees surrounding the two. Blending in to the coming darkness, sitting himself atop a branch.

((Entering Fight as an NPC))
A grin spread across those pale lips as a garganta tore it's way across the air, peeling back broken black lips to reveal the master behind it's appearance, a slow breath of air escaping lips as vibrant green eyes pierced the dark veil of the Garganta. It was not so very often that he showed up out of the blue like this. NORMALLY he liked watching his prey. But...hehe....well. Something about this place just called out to him. And somehow it just BURNED him up, whatever reiatsu it was that he was feeling.
He licked his lips as his eyes feasted upon what looked like quite the party already. Hollows lay strewn across the ground in broken heaps. Licking his lips as he watched the two taking on eachother whilst also dealing with all of the hollows. It was so friggin tragic, he might actually shed a tear. Another chuckle escaped the arrancar as he casually strolled down to the ground, a brow raised as he slowly felt some sort of rage building up inside him. Something that made him oddly angry at that big-sworded dude. How very interesting indeed.
"Isn't this romantic. Two shinigami in the middle of all these.....hollow." That final word fell to a flat tone, eyes locking onto the hollows still swarming in as a sudden rush of horrible aura gushed from the arrancar, stopping them momentarily in their tracks as both Aevus and Garret would feel that aura as well. A blackness to the man's soul that somehow reached out into their bodies and hissed with some horrible intent.
"Looks like you sure know how to throw a party...for a couple of losers. Well.....maybe one of ya's more a loser than the other." he noted as he suddenly smiled in aevus's direction, slipping hands into his pockets as he canted his head to the side and suddenly winked at the shinigmi in a manner VERY much unbefitting the situation. "Waddaya say Foxy? After we kill this bum why don't you and me go get a drink?" He crooned playfully, pausing in his descent as he glanced over his shoulder, spotting an incoming hollow and idly waving his hand.
In the span of an instant he fired a bala, blasting the hollow through the skull before his attentions shifted back to the carnage at hand. One arm raising dramatically whilst the other reached behind his back, a loud yawn escaping him as he leaned back, his shirt popping up just a little, as if to show off his abs to one of them. "Man it's been a while. But you know what they say. Practice makes perfect. You guys mind helpin me practice?" He asked with a sudden fierce grin, a ferocity that was not present up until now. His love of theatrics had kept him from throwing himself at Garret in rage thus far, but well. That onsen wouldn't wait forever.
The soft noise of his blade sliding free of it's scabbard sounded out and the arrancar soon let those clear green eyes dart back and forth between Garret and Aevus, peepers that could charm a mother bird from her nest. Those eyes were pointed at them now. And for the time being he restrained himself, waiting for them to clear the current wave of hollows. After all, he didn't want any small fry getting in his way.
It was his own fault, really. Garret had taken his attention off of the Shinigami, focusing solely on the Hollows surrounding him. During his fighting he had failed to hear the cowards approach, his lack of attention paying leading him to suffer quite the wound. Garret let out a roar, nearly falling onto one knee as the pain exploded in his leg. Snarling through his teeth, Garret placed one of his large hands atop the wound, stinging as a result of the physical contact. Swearing beneath his breath, he was however thankful that it hadn't been cut too deep. Aevus lacked the physical strength to actually make a truly crippling blow. While it was true that Spiritual Pressure could sharpen ones blade, it was only during release that this happened.
So Aevus, who was barely stronger than a normal human, failed to actually deliver Garret a crippling blow. But he was successful in slowing him down, and flipping the switch. Snarling like an animal between his teeth, veins began to appear across Garrets forehead and neck. He became red faced as he was slowly being consumed by his anger, the constant laughter and howls of the coming Hollows did not help anything either. And then he snapped. "Enough!" he shouted, suddenly on his feet and that weapon swinging through the air.
The muscles in his arms burned and bulged beneath his skin, swinging that weapon with such force that something was released. Garrets swing released a wave of force around him, blowing away not only water and foliage, but the Hollows stupid enough to get close. Their bodies crushed and mangled, they expired and fell to the floor. His snarled breaths became drowned out by the sounds of rushing water, coming to retake the space they had just lost by Garrets great shockwave, and the sound of the falling rain. The sudden voice drew his attention though, as Garret looked right at the approaching Arrancar.
Disgusting creatures. Arrancar were little more than Hollows that had taken on a human appearance. Their monstrosity lay beneath the surface. A falsehood created to get close to other victims. They were just like all the other Hollows that Garret had killed. The flamboyant Arrancar stopped the approach of the remaining Hollows. Listening to his prattle, Garret began to lose his patience. But even though he was getting feed up with this nonsense, he needed to approach the situation appropriately. It would be dangerous for him to simply rush the Arrancar, while having to worry about the Shinigami. So, why not try to play the Shinigamis game?
"Shinigami!" Garret suddenly shouted, his voice drowning out the rain. It would no doubt get his attention, plus the Arrancars. "You understand what happens if I kill this Arrancar, right? It's gone. No purifying it, no moving on to the Rukongai, nothing. If you care at all about your precious balance, then go ahead and kill it. Then we can settle whatever the hell it is you're so upset about!" Garret shouted, his eye never leaving the Arrancar.
It was simple. Turn the situation against the Arrancar. If the Shinigami gave any damns about his duty, he'd know that he simply couldn't let Garret kill the Arrancar. All of those souls devoured by the Arrancar that made up its being would be lost, damned into oblivion. Aevus alone might now even be able to handle the Arrancar, but at the same time could he handle Garret alone? So, the choice was on him. Help Garret eliminate the Arrancar, or assist a monster that would turn on him as well. Garret was hoping the young man was smart enough to make a rational decision, because he knew his own choice. The greatsword in his arm, Garret poisitioned himself with his injured leg in mind, kept to the back to protect it, while putting his weight into his good leg. Swinging would be more difficult, but doable.

Zegram couldn't help but notice all the commotion going on in the area and decided to take a look into things. Zegram was not too fond of wearing his nice suit and boots in this murky, damp environment. He will most likely need to appropriate a new suit once this way over, he sighed with a shake of his head. Zegram wore a nice two piece suit over a white dress shirt. His black pants were getting wet due to the water that came up t his ankles. At least his boots were able to keep the water from getting to his feet. He wore an old 40s fedora on his head making sure that he kept that from being knocked off by holding it with his other hand.
The fedora had special meaning to him, so he always took care of it by keeping it on his green haired head. He had a fairly slim build making that a bit easier to sneak around with he thought. Zegram half wondered if all this was even worth it. That was when he felt a force hit him from out of no where. It came from directly in front of him. He was far enough away so that the shock wave would have dissipated enough to not harm him, but it was able to knock him back a couple of steps. That meant that at least he was heading in the right direction. He smiled wondering what he was going to walk into. He will just have to see for himself.
He kept himself in the shadows as he looked over the fighting. It seemed that there was a lot of hollows, and another Arancar fighting what appears to be two Shinigami. On top of that, it seemed that the two shinigami were not on the best of terms with each other. With all the confusion, Zegram thought that he could just stay where he was and pick them off from outside of the battle. He got into a better position behind the large man with the similarly large sword. He outstretched his hand and fired a cero right at the guys back. Once the cero was out, he would immeditly move to another position around the outside fo the fight keeping his presence suppressed as he did so.

The darkness and the rain would shelter the Shinigami’s creeping grin as he held his blade firmly reverse gripped, a drip of blood faltering from that Zanpakuto into the murk below. He noted that he had landed a blow a dull one but a blow nonetheless and that meant he could possibly defeat this rogue with speed alone. As a wave of power drove forth against the backdrop of the woods Aevus’s very eyes would light up, the rain, its fall stagnated for a short time before drowning the world in its powerful downpour once more.
Aevus’s grip would tighten on his blade at that. This rogue was ferocious indeed and would pose as an incredible threat and in his tired state he had clearly underestimated his strength. The Shinigami was beginning to think he may have bitten off more than he could chew and yet this wasn’t the end of it. ‘One hit from this Rogue and i‘m dead...’ Another sigh fell from the pale faced reaper as he held himself to the tree, his feet firmly placed against the branch, his attention neatly perking to his enemy below.
The flash of lightning brought forth the shadowy silhouette of another and he would step backwards in response, his back planted to bark behind him. An ominous being cornered him with a look that sheltered what Aevus could only guess was ill intent. His fingers curled tightly around his Zanpakuto as he realized what exactly he was looking at. It was a Arrancar, the pinnacle evolution of a hollow an apex predator. The hollow hole resided where his heart should be and he felt himself questioning how this thing could even function.
The anatomy of an arrancar was the least of his worries though and he felt a tension as the Arrancar began to tease him. As the Rogue shouted his attention would return to the matter at hand. He shook his head, his tired blues attempting to gather what was going on. The rogue was right, this Arrancar was his to purify and that frightened him. He had never faced an Arrancar before and this one seemed confident and rather arrogant. That technique that soundly blew straight through a hollow moved quickly and he could only guess that this Arrancar had more where that came from.
Aevus caught his breath his breathing was uneasy under the pounding rain of that raging storm around him as he yet again entered the inner world of his Zanpakuto. “Aevus, don't be reckless.” Silvery lupine eyes of his Zanpakuto seemingly sheltered themselves over the man as he still held his blade before him. "You haven't fought an enemy like this before, you would not be a coward if you fled." She was concerned and worry easily stained her mind as she stood at his side.
The whisps of darkness yet again flooded his visage as he heard that ominous voice of that vixen. In the shadows past the clearing within the shade of that biolumiscent forest two golden eyes shone brightly like fireflies burning fiercely in the night. "My such a predicament we have fallen into, such prey cornered thusly by the scent of a beast in mans clothing. Your pet is mistaken, Cowardice would be to flee, leaving these poor beasts to decay at the hands of one with such an enticing aroma. Forever lost, in such a frivolous hunt. To have his prey carve their way towards him, such a pity, where is the thrill?
Lumina would cast herself to Aevus’s side defensively, her silver lupine hued visage neatly narrowed to those golden hued irises of the vixen. “Stay your silver tongue hollow, nobody asked you what you thought of this.” She would giggle at that allowing her form to slowly slither forth into the clearing. “You seem confused, it is not you who commands me neither is it your master~”
A snarl would would sound shortly causing the darkly lit vixen to stop. Yet she merely paused to lick her paw, lapping the cyanic waters off her pads, she would continue. “I am not free yet I am not bound by such constrictive folly such as you mutt.” Aevus would step before the wolf his tired blues staring down the creature before him quieting the snarling of the wolf spirit. “Is there any sense to your rambling? Get to the point.” The vixen would seem to smile at that or what seemed to pass as a smile.
“All creatures of the flesh assess the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents. Even Hollows and most Arrancar prey instinctively on this yet this beast of a man carries with him a lure that can not be scorned. Creatures such as these usually do not pick fights they cannot win. You are not ignorant to this little hunter yet you still keep me at bay. Don’t be mistaken, my words seemingly falter on deaf ears, but they carry a truth, you’ll need me. just give in, let me in and we can save them all~."
Aevus's tired sapphire eyes would look passively to that darkly lit vixen, those glowing golden eyes menacingly staring back at him. Shaking his head he would respond coldly. "Lumina and I will purify them, we don’t need you." The vixen would respond in but a whisper “You will” She slowly crept back into the darkness surrounding them. “We’ll just have to see, wont we?”
At that Lumina would look to the pale faced reaper astonished that she could not read him for once. "Are you ready Lumina?" The wolf would eye the Shinigami with a skeptical expression plastering her lupine face. "This is foolishness." Aevus would speak softly. “Indeed it is but I can’t possibly leave these souls to perish, I have to at least try.” Shaking her head Lumina would correct the shinigami a sigh leaving her. “We have to try”
Opening his eyes back to the world, Aevus would take a breath readying himself. His eyes darting to the rogue and than the Arrancar. "Whisper Softly, Umbra" Aevus would speak through the storm as he activated Shikai. His Zanpakuto would change ever slightly growing to thirty inches of length. The black square guard would shift to a wolfish head appearing as it was howling up the handle of his Zanpakuto itself. Runic markings of darkened black covered the length of the silver blade.
A long silver chain faltered forth from the pommel of his weapon fluttering freely behind him in the chaos that whirled around him as he took a step forward. Aevus’s tired cold blue eyes would emanate a cyanic glow while his black hairs would evoke a dark sapphire undertone hinting at that bioluminescent inner world. “It’s not to late for you to turn tail and run.” Aevus would hold his blade reverse gripped his glowing visage now narrowed on the beast before him.

Eyes narrowed slightly as the Vizard seemed more interested in his own iner turmoils. And as the male continued to step forward, attention only briefly focused on the others before a smirk spread across his lips as he noticed Zegram, his ability to spot stealthed enemies coming in handy as he gave a light roll of his shoulders. The moment, as it were, that things began to hear up, the arrancar immediately closed in on Aevus, a roll of his eyes as he squared off against them, he himself far more interested in them seeing as his Arrancar bretheren was focusing on Garret.
"Geeeeere Foxyfoxyfoxy~ Maaaan, that's some pretty rad hair you have. You know how cute you'd be as a girl?" The male chuckled, seeking to unnerve Aevus as he closed in, slowly circling them as those eyes watched closely, intent on looking for any openings that presented themselves, a light licking of his lips in response to what he could sense from them. Just by the way Aevus moved he could tell that the vizard was faster than him, but for now that wasn't terribly concerning, far more interested in.....other aspects he was.
"Hooonestly, aren't you fighting that punk? I mean some oooon. We're on the same team. I wanna put that thing down as much as you do. So waddaya say? Together with ole......sneaky over there." He smiled, looking in the direction the cero had come from. "We could take down that monster in no time~ After that? Well let's just say that I like the smell of your reiatsu. You certainly don't smell as gross as most shinigami." He noted as he leaned in, that smile only growing more and more charming as he watched Aevus. Something was almost....hauntingly alluring.
"Waddaya saaay? We punk ole.....cyclops over there. We can even let that weirdo kill him, no need to get our hands dirty amiright? And you and me can just go have a talk~ No funny business I promise." He noted with a smile, crossing his lack of a heart wityh his thumb before he gave another roguish wink. "Unless you ask for it of course. You or whatever lovely creature lives in that sword of yours." And it was at THAT time that his eyes moved specifically to Aevus's zanpaku'to. And winked at her. She too would suddenly feel a STRONG lure to the arrancar. However it would be his inner hollow who noticed something if anything, the scent of hollow reiatsu in the way he was looking at Aevus and his zan, would tip her off something fierce. But then again......would his inner hollow inform him that the arrancar was using his reiatsu to charm? Or would she simply let them get lured?
Garret especially might begin to think something was up. Even though the male was actively insulting him and talking about killing him, there was just a tiny bit of lure they would feel. Nothing that would shove them toward ever listening to the arrancar just yet, but definitely enough that he might begin to suspect something was a little off about them, though until the arrancar actually focused this power on garret, there would be no sure way to tell.
Garret turned to the approaching Shinigami, a frown painted on his face as he watched him approach. He had to restrain himself from simply punching the kid in the face for attacking him, but right now he saw no better opportunity to deal with the Arrancar. So, for now, Garret was willing to look past the attack and injury on his leg, but for now. As Aevus walked up and released his Zanpakuto, Garret eyed the blade before smirking. "Taking this seriously? Good." Garret commented, facing towards the irritated flirt and scowling, ready to fight once again. It was now two on one, a disadvantaged situation for the Arrancar.
But before Garret could make a move, he heard a sound behind him. A sound that he recognized, one that he'd heard from Hollows many times already. It was heading right for them! Garret suddenly lashed out, striking Aevus with an open hand and shouting "Move!" before using a Shunpo to move to the side as well. His strike against Aevus wasn't really supposed to hurt him, hitting him with an open hand to push him through the air, the physically weaker Shinigami being sent flying in the direction of the push just as that red Cero ate through the space they had just been at.
Sliding to a stop, Garret whipped around, scanning the darkness for any sign of the assailant. "Another one...huh?" He mumbled, looking over at the Shinigami for a second before scoffing. "I'll deal with that one. You deal with the man whore." Garret ordered, beginning to walk towards the site where Zegram had fired his Cero. Even if Aevus protested it would fall on deaf ears, Garret having made up his mind. Besides, if this new arrival was a stealth reliant asshole then Garret had just the trick of picking him up.
Walking a decent distance from Aevus and the Arrancar, he sighed at this mess he had gotten himself into. He wondered for a brief moment if the Shinigami would be able to deal with that one alone, given that weird pull his words had. Garret had noticed it, the weird allure to the Arrancars words, but once able to pick up on it was able to ignore it. Took a lot more than a sweet mouth to warp Garrets mind. Cracking his neck, he smirked. "No point in suppressing your reiatsu, coward, I can't sense it anyways." Garret stated into the darkness around him, directed at wherever Zegram was.
It was true, Garret couldn't sense energy. It was a trick he really did want to pick up some day, but for now he could settle with the other method. Bouncing his sword on his shoulder the swordsman waited for a response, turning his senses up to their max before using his Vita Sollertia: Echo. The parasite within him had its hunger tapped into, released into the outside world into a pulse around him. It travelled a far distance, five miles in every direction around him, and each time a source of Life was detected it came back to him, telling him how Life they possessed.
The Echo shot out, pinging both Aevus and the Arrancar, alerting Garret to how much reiatsu they both possessed. But more importantly, it pinged the little sneak himself. See, Echo wasn't like Energy Sensory. It wasn't detecting the reiatsu itself, but the individuals very Life Force. You couldn't suppress your own Life. So when that ping came back, Garret turned in the direction of Zegrams hiding spot. "I've got you." he said, a smirk painting itself on his face before vanishing. Garret traveled the distance, landing right where Zegram was hiding with a savage grin on his face. "The night's still so young, Arrancar! So why are you hiding?" He asked before swinging his sword at the man, aiming to swing it upwards and into the mans body. So the fight between Garret and Zegram had begun, but how would it go for Aevus and his own playmate?
"Move!" Zegram was sort of surprised that the large man was able to dodge the attack, while knocking his buddy out of the way. Well from what he was able to gather from his observations, they were not exactly friends. The cero missed, though at the moment, it seemed that he still didn't know where Zegram was hiding. "No point in suppressing your reiatsu, coward, I can't sense it anyways." Zegram chuckled to himself. The big man thought that he would be able to goad the Arrancar into a head on confrontation with taunts? It was laughable. He knew that he was outclassed when it came to strength. A lobotomized chimp could see that.
"I've got you." Zegram stopped looking at them man wondering what he meant. He watched the man turn right in the direction where he was. He disappeared. Zegram looked around trying to figure out where he would appear at. The man was right in front of him looking like a savage than a man. Zegram nearly swore out loud. He wasn't sure what happens, or how the man found him, but that was a question for after he evaded the attack. "The night's still so young, Arrancar! So why are you hiding?" Zegram smiled watching the swing of the sword. He was able to dodge the attack without using sonido. He turned his body to the side avoiding the slash.
"It is called strategy my large friend." He said as if he was talking to a long time friend. He opened his free hand and shot a green bala from his left hand aiming right for the center of the man's chest. We will see if he is able to dodge a fast moving projectile at close range, he thought with a fanged grin. Zegram would run into the foliage going back into stealth mode. He would constantly move trying to avoid getting into a direct conflict with his strength. He wondered if his Hierro would be enough to keep him safe from the man's strength. He did want to get hit to find out, but he figured that wielding a weapon of that size would require more strength than most dream of getting.

Aevus would mostly drown out the Arrancars rambling. Yet as he spoke he felt something off. His narrowed gaze would falter for a second and he found himself questioning himself. Lumina shivered from it, ears lowered, her silver eyes would pass over the pale faced reaper with worry. There was a strange gravity to the Arrancars words and though she didn’t voice her concern, Aevus felt it flood over him. In his tired state, in his condition could he even fight him? Or would he be lured in by the silver tongue of another beast?
The hollow eyed vixen felt that lure as well. Her triangular ears, neatly perked as she heard the vexing voice slither within earshot. A smile would slowly pass her visage yet she would remain silent. The Shinigami was so preoccupied and focused with the Arrancar before him he had found himself drowning out his surrounding. That would come with surprise, his eyes would widen as Garret shoved him out of the way of an oncoming cero.
Rather quickly catching himself with air ground, his sandaled feet would skid over the swamps murky waters. As he came to a stop, he would rise to his feet, his blade in hand and his eyes quickly spotting the Rogue who had saved him and snapped him out of his daze. He would soon follow that ray of light from the cero as it crashed forth into the backdrop of the forest causing his winter blues to also light up from the sheer brilliance of the attack and shock would corner him.
‘If it wasn‘t for that rogue i‘d be dead...’ By mere instinct he had marked the Rogue, yet maybe he wouldn’t have to make use of it. Hearing the shouting of the Rogue he wouldn’t utter a word. The Rogue was right, there was no reason to protest against him. He was an ally, at least for the time being and he had already marked him. If it came down to it, he could and would use that to his advantage. Taking his blade before him Aevus would ready himself, still perplexed by the pull of that Arrancar. He didn’t know what was going on but well he wasn’t going to sit idly by and let it happen again.
“Do not underestimate this Arrancar.” Aevus had heard the spirit as his sapphire eyes traced the the stranger before him. This Arrancar wasn’t going to leave, no he was past that. Purifying the beast was his only bet but he wondered to himself if he could even pull that off. He was distracted, his tired gaze sheltered the heartless Arrancar as he cast shunpo in his direction activating Shunpo Karin as he appeared in front of the Arrancar attempting to kill him with a reverse-gripped beheading.

A hundred feet above where the battle raged on, a garganta opened up above their heads. Inside the portal was a very large hollow, taking the form of a chimera and standing fifteen feet tall, and forty feet long. Its body and front paws were that of a lion, with short, ashen white fur covering it. The creature's back paws were that of a goats, with long, grey fur covering it, with two midnight black hooves. The beast's tait was reptilian, with black and white scales, making it appear gray when in motion. At the tip of said tail, was the head of a snake. Its eyes were a bright pink, and its mask was covered in sharp, backwards-facing spines.
On the monster's back, were two large, dragon-like wings, both pitch black, and covered in scales. At the front of the hollow's torso, were two very different heads. One was the head of a lion, who wore a mask, that shared the same color as wet blood. Around the head was a large white mane, with hair so fine, you'd think it came from a shampoo commercial. Its eyes, were an unusual red, a darker shade than its mask. To the left of said head, was the head of a goat. Its mask was a dark grey, and seemingly covered in bristle-like pines. At the top of the mask were four large horns, each facing forwards. The eyes of this head were the classic yellow that most hollows held.
"Such an aroma. I shall feast on you all!"
The beast of myth roared in delight, as it flew into the fray. As the monster fell, the wind around it began to spin. The longer it fell, the faster it seemed to move. As it hit the earth, there was no crack, as it landed. Instead, it fell into the ground, leaving behind a fifteen foot hole in the swampy dirt. Beneath Gattet, the only warning he would receive was a crumpling under his feet, before the chimera reemerged, coated in a living cyclone. The monster took to the air, flying about, preparing another strike.
The monster let out a tremendous roar, and suddenly the air around his body ignited, covering it in fire, not affecting the beast in the slightest. It swooped down towards the rouge again, leafing a trail of fire to fall to the earth below. It fell with full speed, not caring if it collided with ground, as the flames would burn it away before it would kill the beast. The trail of fire would begin to ignite the foliage in the area, threatening to roast them all. "GIVE US YOUR SOUL! WE SHALL CONSUME THEM ALL!" All three heads roared, as it attempted it tackle the once shinigami.
