Hideo stood over Brock, smiling down at him. Brock had fought hard. He had been able to keep up with Brock despite the weights he wore. He would surely be stronger physically now. Hideo was proud of Brock for being able to go through the training without ever complaining of being tired. "Let me tell you something Manabu Brock..." Hideo began to the downed figure of Brock. "That was one of the best fights I had! You're good!" Hideo shouted with glee. He bent down and offered Manabu his hand to help him up. He lifted Manabu's arm over his shoulder and stood with him. Then, he walked with Manabu over to a tree and leaned him against it. "You can rest now. We'll continue training when you get up. Today's only the first day! Tomorrow is fighting with blades!" Hideo said with joy. Oh boy. Only the first day and Hideo had gotten Brock this tired? Imagine how tomorrow would be. Speaking of which, just how long would this simulation thing run? Could it run for a whole month if Brock willed it? He would probably have questions like these.

"Arigato-gozaimasu, Hiroki-san. This has been a very productive day I believe. I think I'll go and have a bath. I'll need plenty of rest for tomorrow, won't I? Come to think of it, what kind of schedule are we looking at? Am I meant to return here every day for some time? Am I meant to continue training here forever?
Wait a second, who ordered me here anyway? Why was I ordered here? Is this training for some sort of mission? What is the scope of our training? I know I already asked about the schedule, but are we going to train spiritual disciplines as well? Are we going to do everything together or will the Barracks generate someone else? After all, you seem to be a physical training program."
When they'd finally finished conversing Manabu left the barracks with a spring in his step. Wait, no. Not a spring... a limp? A drag? A shuffle? He was exhausted. The first order of business would be to shower. After that, he'd go to Rukongai for some physically therapeutic stuff. That's the ticket, an evening at a spa! There was that one place he'd gone to before: The Blossom Pool. Actually, he'd been there enough to have a usual. He managed to wind up there at least once every other month. Hey, they do good work. Manabu finally decided to spend a little extra for a private room. He was more comfortable alone. Although...
"This was a wonderful idea, Bu-kun!"
Yep, the only thing better than relaxing: relaxing with Yuki. He told her all about the training that day, and she listened with true fascination. That was one of the many, many things Manabu loved about her. She was sincere. She also really enjoyed her combat. She was actually getting excited listening to Manabu talk about the training program. After the spa, they went out for dinner, took a stroll, yadda yadda yadda, and they eventually wound up back at her place where they said good night after making plans to see a show later that week. A prominent actor had just died and was in no mood to have death ruin his career, so it promised to be something good.
Manabu jumped out of bed the next morning and ran back to the barracks. Today was going to be awesome.
"Ohayo-gozaimasu, Barracks-sensei. Is Hiroki-san available to train?"
"Whoa whoa whoa! That's alot of questions Manabu Brock!" Hideo said, that smile of glee once again present on his face. "I totally forgot! I should have answered those when you first came. I got so excited to train..." he said. He began pacing as he was speaking. He then suddenly stopped and once more looked upon Brock with his face full of glee. "Tell you what, I'll answer everything tomorrow. Just remind me!" Hideo said and watched as Manabu walked off. The barrack's simulation seemed to cut off then, leaving Hideo to disappear into thin air with a smile on his face.
The next day, when Brock next came back, the Barracks once again greeted him. "Welcome back Manabu Brock." it started. "Your training simulation will now begin." came the monotone voice once again. Then, as soon as it said that, the room flashed just as it had the day before and Brock was transported to the same beautiful grassland field with a forest surrounding it's outskirts. Standing before Brock was, none other than Hideo Hiroki. He had his arms folded across his chest, and there was a gleeful smile on his face once again. Strapped to his left side was a brown sheathe. "Manabu Brock! Welcome back!" he said. He then put his arms down to his side. "Now, let's get to another day of training!" Hideo said. It seems he had forgotten his promise to Brock. Brock should probably remind him about it before they begin training and they both forget.

"Ohayo-gozaimasu, Hiroki-san! Before we get started, please check your memory banks. I had some questions."
Manabu was still pretty curious. Whose idea was this anyway? Even without knowing, Manabu was still psyched for this. Weapons training was a favorite past time of his. Hideo would surely be adept in weaponcraft. This would be great!
"Oho! I remember now! I almost forgot Manabu Brock! I have to answer your questions today!" Hideo said, his face lighting up with joy as he remembered his promise to Brock. "So, we'll start at the beginning. This system was created by Squad Twelve to train Shinigami who would like to experience real life situations without actually going out into the real world to do so. Anything you can imagine this system will create. You can train here for however long you like. The longer you train here, the more data Squad Twelve can gain from this system to figure out if they would like to create more systems like this to place in other Squad barracks. So, train here as long as you like!" Hideo began. "A notification about this new system was sent to all seated and non-seated members. It seems you were the only one to reply. It was going to be tested out by lower ranking members first and then built to encompass Vice-Captains and finally Captains in order to build up to the level of skill and reiatsu that Captains have. This system is meant to learn and grow from the training experiences that it gives the Shinigami who will use it. " Hideo said. He then continued, but not before taking a breath. "This training system was built to encompass all types of fighting styles and powers, though it can still grow and learn from unknown fighting styles and powers. It holds training programs in kido training and development, zanjutsu training, hand-to-hand training, and agility training. For each training program, there is a different trainer. Hollows will even be created for real life battle situations. I am the trainer for agility and zanjutsu training. There are other trainers, but not many for now until Squad Twelve gains more data on your use of the system to create more. If you choose a different type of training, such as more advanced zanjutsu training, you will get a different trainer as I am not the master swordsman trainer." Hideo finished. He stared at Brock intently when he finished, trying to see if he had any more questions. There was a long silence which suggested that Brock could ask any questions that he wanted to.

"Arigato-gozaimasu, Hiroki-sensei! I think that covers it. May we begin?" Manabu had already strectched and warmed up before coming. He didn't want to waste his sensei's time. He was awfully excited, now even more so. This was all cutting edge stuff, and he was helping it evolve! Not to mention, it was educational technology (of a sort) that learns! Stupendous!

A large smile quickly spread itself upon Hideo's face at Brock's utterance of the question "May we begin?" Hideo placed his hand to his blade and held it there, sliding it out slowly. "That's what I've been waiting to hear all day!" Hideo shouted with glee. Immediately upon uttering those words, Hideo rushed forward towards Manabu. To Manabu, it would seem as though Hideo had blurred. Due to Hideo's tripled speed during movement, he usually disappeared to other people, but because of Brock's good senses, he could see Hideo's blurred form as it moved. Hideo wasn't holding back, in speed or in skill. "Don't be afraid to give it your all Manabu Brock." came Hideo's voice from in front of Manabu. He was right there, inches from his face in those few seconds. Then in the next, using the momentum he had built up from rushing forward at that speed, he pushed himself into the air by jumping off of his feet. He twirled while in the air, his movement still tripled due to him using the momentum from his rush to aid his leap above Manabu. While in the air, he also drew his blade, dragging it out of the dull brown sheathe. It shined in the light as it was drawn, and the reflection of the sun upon the blade might even blind Brock if he looked up at Hideo, blinding him, for this was Hideo's plan. This was so that as he came down to the diagonal right behind Brock, he would have a hard time countering the powerful slash he released upon Brock's back, aided with the momentum he had used from earlier to speed up the falling slice.

As soon as Hideo made his move, Manabu's hand was on his own blade, and he began to draw. Had Hideo simply gone through with a straightforward attack, Manabu would be dead now (assuming the Barracks doesn't have safeties that prevent dying). However, that would surely have defeated the point of the training. Dead people don't train very well.
Now that Hideo was in the air, Manabu took to the ground. He rolled forward and finished drawing his blade as he turned back toward Hideo, who would have reached the ground by now. Manabu was about to run forward to meet him, but he decided against it. If he did that, Hideo would just have to move to the side in order to get an opening. He'd be much better off making Hideo come to him. That way he could be sure of his initial trajectory, and Hideo would have to slow down in order to get around him. Manabu stood ready.
"I'm afraid of plenty of things, Hideo Hiroki, but effort isn't one of them."
Post by Jin Yamada on May 11, 2011 22:25:35 GMT -5
Hideo's blade cut through the air, making that trademark swishing sound as it moved towards the ground. He smiled upon seeing Brock no longer on the other end of his blade. "Good. Good Manabu Brock! THAT'S WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR!" he shouted with glee. Hideo really liked to fight and run. Something Brock would notice was that he had a smile on his face when he was running and even now as they fought with swords. Hideo was one of those people who were hungry for battle. These were the type of people who couldn't sit still. Even now, Hideo was already moving towards Brock, kicking off of his feet and using the momentum he had dropped to the ground with to increase his speed.
As he moved through the air towards Brock, he stabbed downwards. Then, he suddenly went into a roll to Brock's right. He did it all pretty fast too! When he came out of his roll, he spun on his left knee, slashing backwards towards the back of Brock's knees. If he was hit by this one, he would have his legs chopped off! He would do well to dodge this one somehow. Hideo wasn't messing around! He was giving it his all. He was going to use all of the strategies and skills that the Twelfth Division had programmed him with before this training was over.

Manabu tried to catch Hideo in his roll, but getting his sword from up and in front to down and to the right proved to take too long. Manabu turned to his right with the slash, which luckily connected with Hideo's. It became apparent that this was going to be fairly dangerous, and Manabu really couldn't afford to take it easy. Ergo, he decided to draw his wakizashi. He left the slashing to to right arm as he turned and drew the wakizashi with his left. Now the he'd managed to stop his legs from leaving his body, he followed up with a slash into Hideo with the wakizashi.
The blade was headed for his head. Manabu wasn't originally planning to use lethal force. He had thought they'd be using kendo blades or scabbards, but then Hideo went and tried to cut off Manabu's legs. Fine, if that's how he wanted to play, then Manabu would just have to try to split his cranium. This seemed like a nice turning point in the fight anyway. Hideo lost a lot of speed making this attack, and that's what Manabu had been going for by waiting. This, however, was the time to press the attack. Hideo would probably have to go backwards to avoid being hit, and Manabu would be right on top of him.

Hideo's slash had missed! Brock had blocked him. Hideo's smile widened at seeing his strike blocked. Brock was good, just as he thought. He looked like the Cheshire cat with that wide grin on his face in that moment. All of his perfect white teeth were completely visible and shining bright. His eyes were even shining with joy. Then, Manabu was slashing towards his head. Hideo was in trouble! Or was he? He leapt back from that kneeling position, lifting his own blade while he jumped to parry away Brock's slice down onto his head. When he did finally land about four feet from Brock, he kicked off of the ground as soon as his foot touched it. This sent him to his right where he landed and stood facing Brock.
"That was a nice counterattack Manabu Brock!" he shouted with glee. He lifted his katana and placed it in front of his body, waiting on Brock's next move. If this had been a real situation rather than a simulation, Brock's opponent would have attacked again after dodging. However, this was only a simulation and so Hideo wasn't going to go as far as to attack in such a way as to inflict a fatal injury. He was one of the master swordsman programs after all! He knew Brock would be able to counter the slash to his knees. "You're probably wondering why my attacks may seem as though I'm aiming to kill. Well, technically, my program has me do that in order to prepare you for real life situations. Don't worry though, my program prevents me from striking in a situation where I could easily take advantage while you are at a disadvantage and struck a fatal blow." Hideo explained. It was almost as if he had read Brock's mind. Hideo's program could sense the intent behind Brock's attack and so it had him explain the situation.

"Fair enough."
Manabu began to swing his blades and move around a bit.
"I'd like to warm up while we talk."
He moved forward now casually and threw light attacks at Hideo and received in kind.
"If we used something other than steel, wouldn't the practice be more effective? You could attack me without having to hold back... as much. After all, my opponents won't hold back if they really want me dead.
All the while he continued to exchange blows one hand at a time. he thought it might be too aggressive to attack with both blades at the same time. He didn't want Hideo to start pushing back in the middle of conversation.

OOC: When we begin training Kido, if you want to train that here as well or end the thread and make another with this same system, we'll aim for more paragraphs so you can get more TP that way.
IC: Hideo's face scrunched up as Brock spoke. He exchanged blows with Brock, continuing to think as the two exchanged blows. Brock was right in what he was saying. Why hadn't Hideo thought about it?! The blades of the two clashed and Hideo pushed off, jumping back. A bright smile lit up on his face when he landed. It was the expression of someone who had just though of a brilliant idea. An idea that was so brilliant that it's application would make a huge impact on the world. One of those ideas that you'd see scientists sitting at a table trying to come up with for ages. That was the kind of idea it seemed Hideo had come up with just now by the look on his face. He sheathed his blade and then clapped his hands. Suddenly, from out of the sky fell two wooden katana. One fell down towards Brock while another fell towards Hideo, who promptly caught his. "You're right Manabu Brock! Good idea! It would be so much better to fight with these wooden katanas! I was so into fighting with you that I just forgot." Hideo said.
He swung his wooden katana in the air a few times, testing it. He was warming himself up as well. Then, when he felt as though his warm-up had been enough, he rushed forward. "No holding back now!" he bellowed as he charged in. He leaped into the air and came down on Manabu with a powerful downward swing, driving all of the momentum from his increased running speed into the slice. Blocking this one wouldn't be good for Brock. It looked like Hideo was putting all of his strength into it.

Manabu quickly sheathed his katana and barely caught the wooden one falling through the air. Now that the katana was back in its proper home, Manabu twirled his wakizashi with a flourish and placed it back in its own sheath. It's a good thing Hideo was taking his time warming up. If he'd attacked as suddenly as he had been, Manabu would have been forced to defend with a steel wakizashi, and that would have ruined everything. Hideo would have been left with significantly less katana than Manabu. What if Manabu ended dealing what would be a lethal blow to this program? Would the barracks delete him? How terrible that would be!
Luckily, Manabu had all the time he needed before the Hideo rush. Manabu rushed forward himself when he saw Hideo's jump. He darted a bit to the side and left Hideo with a passing slash. Being in mid-air left one a bit less maneuverability. He needed Manabu to be in front of him in order to hit him. Once again, if this had been a contest of steel, Hideo would be dead now. One really oughtn't run and leap at an opponent at least who's on guard.
Oh. Brock had side stepped. Good move. Hideo wasn't surprised really that Brock had moved. Brock had proved himself to already be a great opponent. He saw it coming. But now, he was going to surprise Brock with something of his own. He kicked out his left leg as he was coming down so that he could land on that. Then, when he did, he spun on that one leg, carving his blade upwards at the same time and using the force behind it to increase it's speed as it sailed towards Brock who was on his side. He had faked Brock out! Brock probably wasn't expecting something like this. Hideo had been ready in case Brock was going to counter with a slash of his own as he was falling.
Hideo was one of the master swordsman trainers, so he had a few good moves of his own. He stepped down with his right foot as that blade moved towards Brock and pulled his blade in so that he could spin again. This second spin used the force from his slash to continue spinning him to his right. When he was coming back around, he stepped forward with his left leg from that spin so that he was now on Manabu's right and in close for a slash, however, he wasn't going to just do a simple slash. Hideo sent a flurry of stabs towards Manabu's right side instead, his aim to overwhelm the man and press him back. That had probably been a little too flashy, but Hideo wanted to show that Brock should expect the unexpected even in expected situations from any opponent. It would better prepare him to react to their unexpected attacks.
