OOC: I'm not bored. Good training isn't necessarily exciting anyway.
IC: Manabu ran on with Hideo in close pursuit. They finally came to the tree with no sign of slowing. Manabu didn't break his pace, but kept running as smooth as he could. He presently changed his trajectory 90 degrees and proceeded upward. As he ran up the tree, Manabu made to snare his pursuer's outstretched arm. He thrust his hands past his head and grabbed the arm as he jumped off the tree. He landed behind Hideo with the arm still in hand and brought the speedy devil down on his back.

OOC: Okay. Well, the good stuff is coming soon anyway.
IC: Hideo reached his hand out, straining it as he grew closer and closer to Brock. Almost there! Hideo was taken aback, however, when Manabu ran up the tree and grabbed Hideo's arm. The next thing Hideo knew, he was being flipped and was sent slamming into the ground. "Oof." he managed to utter as he slammed against the ground. He opened his eyes, which had closed as he had hit the ground and looked up. He sat up, groaning as he did so and looked around, only to see Manabu running as fast as he could away from Hideo. "You got me Manabu Brock! GOOD! NOW I'M COMING AFTER YOU!" Hideo yelled, joy evident in his voice. He was having fun. He had been outsmarted and was now it. Now, it was only a matter of time to see how long he would remain it. He took off running after Manabu, gaining more and more speed with each step he took. He didn't even seem to be winded.

It wasn't long before Hideo caught up to Manabu. It seemed he meant business. That was fine. Manabu knew he'd never be able to keep away from Hideo for very long. He was just too fast, and Manabu was just too slow. At any moment Hideo would tag Manabu or something, and he'd be it again. Manabu certainly wouldn't be able to use the same technique to catch him, especially because it required Hideo to chase him. In fact, this whole thing had been going on for quite a while. Manabu was probably going to keel over soon.
Hideo was coming in. He was gaining more and more pace. Uh-oh. He was gaining on Brock! Within seconds, he was almost five feet from Brock. Within another few seconds, he was even closer. About three feet now. With each passing few seconds, he grew closer and closer, until, after about ten seconds, he was close enough to finally touch Brock, easily tapping him on the shoulder. "YOU'RE IT!" Hideo bellowed upon touching Manabu. He quickly slid to a stop after touching him and just stood there. "YOU'RE GETTING IT MANABU BROCK!" he yelled, a jolly grin on his face. "You did pretty well there! Now, we can move onto increasing your speed. I'll let you rest first though. Fifteen second rest!" Hideo bellowed at Brock. Well, at least he was letting him rest a little. One could only wonder though how Hideo would go about increasing Brock's speed though. Well, in fifteen minutes, Brock would find out.

Manabu slowed down and cooled off for about a minute before he actually stopped and sat. He sort of collapsed onto the grass and sprawled out. He was still panting a bit, and the air down near the grass was noticeably more humid. This facility is amazing. A fully simulated environment even down to the air moisture...[/i] Manabu took control of his breathing now. He changed to slow, deep breaths both in and out. He began to stretch.
Legs, arms, back, and anything else he could find got a light stretching. He didn't want to strain anything, but he needed to make sure his body didn't relax too much. After all, there would be more training soon. Manabu finally sprang back up and was ready to go again.

OOC: I'll post in his stats in the next post. Still coming up with them.
IC: Hideo just stood there with his arms folded as Manabu rested, watching him. He had a smile on his face all the while too. He was probably thinking up some super extreme training that he would have Manabu go through after he was rested. Now that Manabu was ready and stretching, Hideo was ready to reveal the next part of his training. "Okay! For the next part of your training, you'll be....FIGHTING ME!" Hideo shouted with glee. He then clapped his hands, and suddenly, from out of thin air fell some weights. They hit the ground with a loud thud, giving sign to their incredible weight. On the ground before Brock were ankle weights, wrist bands that were weighted, and a belt that had weights hanging from either side of them. The weights sounded really heavy when they hit the ground, but in actuality they weren't all that heavy. It was just all of them falling collectively at once that gave that impression Each was only about five pounds. "You'll be wearing these though! To strengthen your body and make you stronger!" he said with glee.

Manabu picked up each weight one at a time and put them on. He was smiling too now. "Hideo Hiroki. If you were a real person, I hope we would be good friends." Now that they were all attached, Manabu began to move around to accustom himself to the weight. He threw some punches and kicks, jogged in place a little, and finally set himself in Wing Chun stance for some chain punches.
Wow, that is noticeably more strenuous...[/i]
Manabu finally tried his beloved Drunken Fist, but the less said about that the better. Now that he had gotten used to the weights a little, he was ready.
"OK, Hiroki-san, I'm ready. How shall we proceed?"

Hideo smiled at the comment that Brock had made. "Manabu Brock, when this training is over, we will be good friends. The best of friends with a burning passion to become the best that we can be!" Hideo said with glee. "All you have to do is request me, Hideo Hiroki, when you train here again." Hideo said, pointing at himself and adding emphasis on his name. He then straightened himself out and looked Brock up and down. The smile on his face widened as he continued to stare at him. Oh, he was loving this. He jumped up and down, loosening himself before sliding into a stance of his own. He spread his legs apart, the right behind and the left forward while placing his left hand with the palm pointing straight out towards Brock and the right brought closer to his waist with the palm also out. "Prepare yourself Manabu Brock! HERE I COME!" he shouted as he rushed towards Manabu. He moved with incredible speed. He was fast, but of course, Manabu had realized this during their game of tag. Hideo came in with a palm strike towards Manabu's chest. It was fast! Hideo cocked his other hand back, pulling that into a fist that he prepared for when Brock countered his palm strike, which Brock would have trouble doing due to the weights he had on and the speed with which Hideo used. Hideo was trying to get Brock accustomed to speed like this so that he could keep up with it better. With the weights on his body, Brock himself would get faster so that he could have his body keep up with his quick mind.

OOC: My stats are above in the previous post.
IC: Manabu was left without time to prepare a form and basically wound up in Tai Chi mode. He would largely be stuck this way until he would be able to move his extremities normally again. The palm strike came into Manabu's chest as he turned himself to the left and brought his right hand to strike back. Unfortunately, the additional weight on his waist and legs created a significant difference between Manabu's upper and lower halves. The result was an off-balance, falling Manabu. At least Hideo's incoming punch would miss, but Manabu would be left in a bad position.
Manabu kicked hard upward at Hideo's head. With the additional weight, Manabu's kick would have more punch, so to speak. Hideo dodged the foot easily with a simple lean back. That was fine. Manabu, of course, never intended to make contact. He just wanted to salvage his fall. He came up out of his backward handspring, but all this additional weight was really throwing off his balance. He was still recovering when Hideo's next attacks arrived. This time Manabu's attempt to deflect the initial strike went much less successfully. He received several blows to his torso before finally hitting the ground. Hideo still pressed the attack, and Manabu was now reduced to trying to absorb the blows while on the ground.
At this rate Manabu would have no hope of doing anything productive. He began to try to move into Hideo's attacks as he blocked until he was finally in a kneeling/standing position. He finally managed to get himself back to Wing Chun. Now that he was centered for the first time in the fight, it was time to start returning blows. As he finally got into the rhythm of the fight he began to strike after every handful of blocks. Eventually he was able to return volley every few blocks and after much effort the ratio got all the way down to 2:3.
Manabu was still on the bottom side of this fight, and he probably wouldn't be able to keep this up forever. Not to mention, Manabu had a sneaking (more of a blatant) suspicion that Hideo was holding back. What if he suddenly decided to let go?

OOC: Sorry for the short post.
IC: "HAHAHA. YOU'RE GOOD MANABU BROCK!" Hideo shouted with joy as the two continued exchanging blows. Manabu was able to block his quick strikes while still wearing the weights. That was good, and Hideo liked that. Suddenly, he thrust his palms forward with quick precision right into Brock's chest. His goal, to knock the wind from Brock and leave him temporarily stunned. Using that opening, Hideo leaped backwards, getting a good distance away from Brock. About 10 feet. Then, he suddenly sprinted forward towards Manabu. He was fast! In seconds, he was in front of Manabu again, however, this time he was coming out of a spin. He was also aiming a roundhouse kick towards Brock's face with a huge grin on his face. This guy knew how to use his speed to his advantage. He used it to put more momentum and force into his attacks. The momentum built up from moving at fast speeds was put into all of his attacks. Imagine what his sword play would be like. Well, at the moment, Brock wouldn't have time to imagine that since he would have to focus on dodging Hideo's kick.

Fast he may have been, but faster than the mind of Manabu Brock he was not. He saw it coming like Jim Carey. Manabu fell to the side and planted himself on his hands while swinging his body around.
Ah, yes. To sweep, perchance to 'dweam'.[/i]
Manabu's legs came hammering through the leg Hideo had left on the ground. He dropped like a ton of Jim Carey. As he came down, Manabu rolled himself to the left and brought his legs up and around over his opponent. Then he brought them down in a sort of double-handed(-footed)-axe kick. If this attack connected, Manabu might actually have a victory. Otherwise, this would probably be a solid loss.
Manabu had been going all out for perhaps half an hour. He just wasn't accustomed to this much exertion. The academy training had certainly increased his endurance, but this was a new level. Obviously, without the academy, he'd have passed out from exhaustion fifteen minutes ago. Now, however, even after the strain of all out running and high speed, weighted combat, he was still going. On the other hand, he wouldn't be going much longer. This attack was a huge investment, and Manabu stood to lose more than Jim Carey after The Cable Guy if it fell through.

Hideo grinned as Manabu ducked his roundhouse kick, but he wasn't done there. He could sense something coming after Manabu went to duck his attack, but it would seem as though Hideo was out of luck since he was in the middle of an attack. However, with the increased momentum from his running start coupled with the fact that he had missed, Hideo was almost finished with his kick as Manabu was coming in for the leg sweep. Given the added weight from the weights Manabu wore, that would also slow him down, giving Hideo enough time to flip off of the leg he had just kicked with as soon as it touched the ground. This put him in the air as the leg sweep occurred, allowing him to flip away to his right. Then, when he landed, he moved behind Manabu as he executed his double-footed-axe kick. Then, Hideo lifted his own leg, dropping it down onto Manabu's chest while Manabu was in the midst of his own attack. "Ya almost got me there Manabu Brock! Good one!" he said as he executed his leg drop.

As soon as it became apparent that Hideo wasn't going down with the sweep, Manabu gave up on the idea of the ax kick. In fact, he gave up the idea of stopping altogether. He just continued to swing himself around using the momentum he'd already built. That would spoil Hideo's plans for putting a foot in Manabu's chest. Hideo still had plenty of time to get out of the way. He had backed away to a safe distance as Manabu continued to rotate.
The strange thing was that he wasn't stopping. He was in full swing now, so to speak. Hand over hand, spinning torso and waist: Manabu was now essentially break dancing. Getting an approach for an attack would now be considerably more difficult for Hideo. Manabu was now up to speed and swinging in all directions.
"You might be a bit surprised, Hiroki-san. I did learn a few things about partying before I joined the Gotei 13. Koshime and I had plenty of nights at plenty of bars, and we earned our fair share of drinks from admiring fans. I haven't done this routine in a while, but be warned, it's nothing to scoff at."
Koshime was Manabu's best friend back in Rukongai. He was actually the first person he met in Soul Society. He was... less studious than Manabu, but then again, who isn't less studious than Manabu? Anyway, he was to partying what Manabu is to learning. Their mutual friends speculate that "The Odd Couple," though written years before Manabu's death, was actually based on this pairing. In any event, though they hadn't seen each other much over the last 5 years, Koshime was now in the forefront of Manabu's mind as he twirled before Hideo Hiroki.
"Whoa Manabu Brock!" came the voice of Hideo in surprise. He stopped and watched the spectacle before him. Brock was doing a spinning hand stand. It was pretty impress too. Hideo had no way of getting through that to attack Manabu Brock again. He had too much momentum going for him already. If Hideo tried to charge in, he'd get knocked back with a serious wound from one of Manabu's flailing legs. Hideo just watched Brock for a few seconds, marveling at his twirling form. He smiled, obviously impressed with the Shinigami. "Good. GOOD BROCK!" he shouted with joy. Hideo was still smiling, but by now, Brock probably wouldn't realize it. He had already come up with a way to stop Brock's twirl. Hideo dropped down with incredible speed and spun, bringing his right leg around to slam into the arms Brock used to hold up his twirling form. A spinning leg drop. He was using it to bring Brock tumbling down. With no support, his twirling defense would no longer stand up to Hideo. It would no longer protect Brock. If his spinning leg drop did connect, Hideo would then leap forward off of that leg, using the momentum, and tackle Brock's falling body, slamming it into the ground before flipping off to land a few feet away.

Manabu transitioned his helicopter into a full-body chop as Hideo made his move. There is quite a bit more to break dancing than spinning. Manabu redirected his legs up instead of continuing around and took them all the way over with his left knee up and his right leg extended in this latest incarnation of the time-honored axe-kick. It was far too slow for Hideo though.
He just rolled out of the way and let Brock's attack collide with ground only to top it off with his own leg drop. Brock cried out in pain and kicked Hideo's leg off with his left, but Hideo was ready to retaliate. Brock retracted his leg in time and swung his right back at Hideo, who avoided it just by lying down. As Brock used his momentum to spin himself back up, Hideo had already hopped back up and was moving in with a kick. Manabu put his arms between himself the foot, which was followed by another foot. That one preceded a heel coming in from the side. Manabu took the opportunity to return with his own kick, but with the original difference in speed and the fatigue, it was a recipe for disaster.
Hideo was actually able to duck under his kick and come sailing back up with an arc kick in tow. The mighty foot connected with the less impressive head, and Manabu was lifted from the ground for a bit. He spun too as he flew, but it was soon over. Hideo stood triumphant and Manabu lay in a heap on the ground.
...
Hmm... that last kick seems to have put Manabu out of commission for a little longer than expected. Well, 'whatever doesn't kill you' I suppose. Hopefully the Barracks is monitoring Manabu's vitals and able to act if necessary.
