Leviathan Foot System
These are the techniques part of the Leviathan Foot System. In order to take Tier 4 techniques in this Bu Gei, Leviathan Stance must first be Learned. After that, taking techniques of a higher Tier requires a greater number of techniques from the previous Tier to be Learned (i.e. learning a Tier 2 technique requires at a minimum, two Tier 3 and three Tier 4 techniques).
Technique Name: Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Class: 7
Technique Type: Physical Bu Gei, Base Tier
Usable By: Any type that boosts a Physical stat or does not boost a Spiritual stat.
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 25 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: The practitioner adopts a moving form that embodies the changing of the tides, focusing their strength into stances of either reckless abandon or versatility. The user always starts in Neap Tide. Up to once each post, the practitioner may switch from Neap Tide to Spring Tide.
Neap Tide is a neutral stance that offers increased versatility to its user: by paying 200 reiatsu up to once per 3 posts, the wielder may shift up to 15% of their Leviathan Foot Scales’ Item Power into their post-type Strength, or vice versa, for 3 posts.
Spring Tide counts as itself and either High Tide or Low Tide as the user wishes for the purposes of triggering effects that require a Tidal stance, but any time it is used for one, the user reverts to Neap Tide.
How to use technique: Practice with Leviathan Foot Scale armor and learn to take advantage of its defenses to wield heavy weapons with increased stance-based freedom.
Technique Drawbacks: Requires a specialized item and a heavy weapon. Whenever the user is in Spring Tide, they suffer damage from attacks with an extra 15% of their Offensive Strength, and their Leviathan Foot Kanabo suffers a –15% penalty to Item Power.

Technique Name: Downward Strike
Class: 7
Technique Type: Physical Bu Gei, Tier 4
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 25 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: When striking downward from High Tide, those that remain underneath the user’s strike will be struck with unrelenting force, rending through any defensive options or barriers. At the end of this technique, the user can switch to Low Tide if they know Tidal Form: High and Low.
How to use technique: Draw your weapon high, and crash downward in a single strike.
Technique Drawbacks: Each time this technique is used, its user suffers a –1x speed multiplier penalty to their next Stepping technique.

Technique Name: Phases of the Moon
Class: 7
Technique Type: Physical Bu Gei or Step Bu Gei, Tier 4
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 25 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: The user may fluidly change from their current Tidal stance (or lack of a stance) to another Tidal stance they know the Form technique for.
During Maelstrom Mode, this technique functions differently. Each time an opponent attacks the user during this mode, they can use the technique to reposition themselves outside of the line of their opponent’s attack, fluidly moving clockwise around them by 90 degrees, at 6x their normal Speed. In this way, if an opponent presses the attack against the user, they must also deal with the user constantly moving in circles around them.
How to use technique: Shift the movements of the body in mimicry of the moon’s natural phases.
Technique Drawbacks: Reiatsu cost.

Technique Name: Tidal Bore
Class: 6
Technique Type: Passive Bu Gei, Tier 4
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 50 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: In Low, High, or Spring Tide and while this technique is Learned, the user effectively covers any allies within their Leviathan Foot Kanabo’s reach; if an attack would strike one of those allies, the wielder may take on half the Offensive Strength of the attack and shift any negative effects associated with it to themselves.
While this technique is Proficient, its reach covers a fifty-foot radius around the user. While the technique is Mastered, its user can instead take on all the Offensive Strength of the triggering attack.
In High Tide and while this technique is at least Proficient, the user can immediately strike downward with their Leviathan Foot Kanabo to add half the Offensive Strength of the triggering attack to their kanabo’s Item Power for that strike.
In Low Tide and while this technique is at least Proficient, the user can immediately strike upward with their Leviathan Foot Kanabo to stamp any negative spiritual effects associated with an attack they just absorbed with this technique onto the target they strike, copying and applying those effects to that target but at the Class of this technique.
How to use technique: Lace reiatsu through the body and cast it out into the user’s surroundings as a defensive net.
Technique Drawbacks: The user may cover another character no more than once per post, plus one time for each rank the user has in the Leviathan Foot System skill.

Technique Name: Upward Counter
Class: 6
Technique Type: Physical Bu Gei, Tier 4
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 50 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: With a weapon poised from Low Tide, the user strikes upward in an arcing cleave against someone trying to strike them. This strike will occur before an incoming attack without fail, if the user is cognizant of the attack and has the reaction time in order to see it coming, bypassing any Stepping techniques the target may use in defense against this attack. At the end of this technique, the user can switch to High Tide if they know Tidal Form: High and Low.
How to use technique: Take note of someone else’s incoming strike, and retaliate before they have the opportunity to do so.
Technique Drawbacks: When this technique is declared, an attacker can choose to stop their attack to stop the Upward Counter from happening.

Technique Name: Hardened Scales
Class: 5
Technique Type: Passive Bu Gei, Tier 3
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 100 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: Cycling the energy used for combat into their equipment, the user channels reparative reiatsu through their stance to achieve various effects, as follows:
In Neap Tide, the user recovers 100 Durability to both their Leviathan Foot Scales and their Leviathan Foot Kanabo.
In Spring Tide, the user recovers 500 Durability to either their Leviathan Foot Scales or their Leviathan Foot Kanabo, but drains 200 Durability from the other one.
In High Tide, the user recovers 300 Durability to their Leviathan Foot Kanabo.
In Low Tide, the user recovers 300 Durability to their Leviathan Foot Scales.
How to use technique: Channel a portion of spiritual exertion into the user’s inventory, cycling the energy used for combat to bolster endurance.
Technique Drawbacks: This technique can be used no more than once per post, plus one time for each rank the user has ranks in the Leviathan Foot System skill.

Technique Name: Rip Current
Class: 5
Technique Type: Step Bu Gei, Tier 3
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 100 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: This stepping technique moves the user at 10x their normal speed and makes a single attack with a weapon in hand. If the user changed Tidal stances with Phases of the Moon immediately before using this technique, it bypasses counter-strike and redirection techniques.
How to use technique: A single strike can end a battle before it begins when its timing is used appropriately. This act is more important than the herbs of a thousand healers. Embrace and internalize this philosophy, and then channel that conviction into an explosion of motion.
Technique Drawbacks: Using this technique counts as the use of a Stepping Technique. This technique can be used only once per combat, and only during the post in which a character begins combat after one or more rest posts. To regain its use, a character requires at least one rest post.

Technique Name: Tidal Form: High and Low
Class: 4
Technique Type: Physical Bu Gei, Tier 3
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 150 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: The practitioner adopts a moving form that embodies the changing of the tides, focusing their strength into stances of either powerful attacks, powerful defenses, or a neutral stance that favors versatility. The user always starts in Neap Tide. Up to once each post, the practitioner may switch from Neap Tide to High Tide or Low Tide. If the user is in High Tide or Low Tide, they may instead switch to Neap Tide.
Neap Tide is a neutral stance that offers increased versatility to its user: by paying 200 reiatsu up to once per 3 posts, the wielder may shift up to 15% of their Leviathan Foot Scales’ Item Power into their post-type Strength, or vice versa, for 3 posts.
High Tide is an offense-oriented stance that favors strong attacks. Each time an airborne target is hit with an attack originating from a High Tide stance from above, they are knocked 50 feet toward the ground. If already grounded or upon collision with the ground, a target suffers a –15% penalty to Speed for 1 post.
Low Tide is a defense-oriented stance that favors stalwart, rigid structures and directs force in a constructive direction. Each time a target is hit with an attack originating from a Low Tide stance from below, they are knocked 25 feet up into the air, or 25 feet further up into the air.
Whenever the user completes an attack from High Tide, they may pay 150 reiatsu to immediately switch to Low Tide, and vice versa.
How to use technique: See above.
Technique Drawbacks: While in High Tide, the user suffers damage from attacks with an extra 10% of their Offensive Strength. While in Low Tide, their Leviathan Foot Kanabo suffers a –10% penalty to Item Power.

Technique Name: Black Ocean Brace
Class: 2
Technique Type: Physical Bu Gei, Tier 2
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 600 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: The user braces themselves for an incoming attack, deflecting it toward either their Leviathan Foot Kanabo or Leviathan Foot Scales armor. If the user braces with their kanabo, they can choose to enter either High Tide or Low Tide as a part of using this technique (if they know the Tidal Form: High and Low technique).
If a follow-up attack to Black Ocean Brace made from High Tide strikes an opponent, that opponent cannot benefit from non-release defenses for 1 post. If a follow-up attack to Black Ocean Brace made from Low Tide strikes an opponent, that opponent cannot benefit from non-release stepping techniques for 1 post.
If the user instead braces against an attack with their Leviathan Foot Scales, durability damage against it from that attack is halved.
How to use technique: The user girds themselves against an attack, channeling their physical strength into their defensive capabilities.
Technique Drawbacks: Reiatsu cost.

Technique Name: Variable Sweep
Class: 2
Technique Type: Physical Bu Gei, Tier 2
Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 600 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: The user swings their weapon across a sweeping area as long as their weapon, capable of reaching 90 degrees around them for each rank in the Leviathan Foot System skill they have. This technique can leave them in either High Tide or Low Tide (if they know the Tidal Form: High and Low technique), resulting in potential combinations with other Leviathan Foot techniques.
Once this technique is Proficient, it can be used to combine with a follow-up attack, increasing the Class of the user’s next physical attack to Class 2 (if it is not already 2 or greater).
How to use technique: Sweep a large area with your weapon, ending either poised high or low with it.
Technique Drawbacks: Only useful in close range.

Usable By: Anyone who has learned Tidal Form: Neap and Spring
Technique Element: None
Technique Cost: 800 reiatsu
Technique Description and Effects: Combining the principles of the two stances of Tidal Form: High and Low and charging their body with overflowing reiatsu, the user adopts Maelstrom Mode for 3 posts. During this time, they gain the benefits of both High Tide and Low Tide, but none of their drawbacks.
How to use technique: Attack and defense. Heaven and Earth. The soul is the dragon veins between the Heaven and the Earth of the self. Embrace and internalize this philosophy, and train with heavy weapons as a means of both attacking and defending.
Technique Drawbacks: At the end of Maelstrom Mode, the user suffers the drawbacks of both High Tide and Low Tide, but none of their benefits, for 3 posts.
