[Shizuka Sanamizu ✮]

The Fullbringer raised an eyebrow at her Bount date and giggled a bit at his comment about the night not being over. She hoped it wasn't. She wanted to be able to spend more time with him and get to know him. Initial attraction was fine, but she knew better than to escalate anything without properly learning about the person. The important part was that he knew he was meaningful to her and special in some way. She hoped he felt that when she looked at him rather lovingly. It wasn't meant to necessarily come off as that pure of an emotion, and she didn't think she'd be ready to use that word for a while, but her facial expression showed that she definitely cared deeply for him. They had been through a lot.

The crowd, though, was making Shizuka uncomfortable. She didn't particularly enjoy them, so a bit of anxiety began welling up inside of her. She didn't know what to do about it since there was no chance of escaping and felt herself start to shrink away. That is, until Luke brought her away from them and up in their own little secluded area. That was so much better and Shizuka was super thankful! Luke probably didn't realize she wasn't a fan of crowds, and she was decent at hiding it, but this was definitely a big help. Not only that, but now they had an even better view of the exploding sky decorations.

Now it seemed like Luke was even more excited about the fireworks than Shizuka ever was. He rushed to the edge of the building's retaining wall and watched while Shizuka silently closed the gap between them, joining him in the moment. After some time, and many fireworks later, Shizuka felt a light touch against her hand's skin. She glanced over at Luke, noticing that he didn't turn his head towards her at all, and then looked down at their hands. His was touching hers. The Fullbringer smiled and fixed their hands so that they were more comfortably clasped together, then returned her gaze up to the night's sky.

She didn't notice that Luke had returned the glance towards her until he got her attention. Her heart was also beating impossibly fast, so knowing that it was possible that he could hear it only made it worse. She was super nervous. She definitely couldn't hide that for too long, so after taking a few deep breaths, she decided calming herself was the best option. Being near someone so new in a setting like this was bound to cause some discomfort, but it wasn't the bad kind. Shizuka just didn't know how Luke was going to react or what he was going to say. So with a quick side-eye glance in his direction, she finally met his line of sight once more. Then she quickly realized what he was trying to do.

Her eyes closed half way as a bit of a smirk made its way upon her face, but she was genuinely happy about his offer. The smirk turned into a smile as Shizuka slowly leaned over towards Luke, pausing for just a brief moment to look at him. She kept her one hand in his and allowed her free hand to move up to the side of his cheek, feeling the heat that emanated from it. So he was nervous, too. But just like that, Shizuka closed her eyes and made the space between them disappear as she touched her lips to his, returning his offer for a kiss. Her free hand reflexively slid down to his chest, but not to try anything. Just to feel him. And as the fireworks around them continued to go off, she was incredibly glad that he invited her out that night.

It wouldn’t be too far fetched to say that Luke’s lips exploded with fireworks when he suddenly felt his date’s pair press up against his. While it wasn’t physical fireworks, no, the rush of endorphins from his lips was an addictive feeling made all the more better by who it was on the other end. Luke’s heart threatened to explode out of his chest with how fast it was beating, and judging from how hot his face felt he probably looked like a tomato. But, despite all that, Luke did his best to keep himself calm and not let his inexperience and nervousness ruin the moment. Thank whatever god was out there that Luke had steel nerves and a strong will, because otherwise he might have turned to goo.

The explosions of fireworks and sound of music drowned out to him for those passionate few moments. His free hand rested itself on her waist, gently holding her close to him before Luke slowly pulled away. It was only their first kiss, and while very fleeting at that, it felt much longer for the Bount than it actually was. Opening his eyes back up he looked at Shizuka’s face with a different view than he did before. She looked much brighter to him now. Like she was a bundle of light that outshined the bright explosions of the fireworks. Maybe it was the rush of emotions he was feeling right now clouding his judgement, or his weak heart making him fall even harder for her, but just as she did before they arrived up on the roof he looked at her rather lovingly.

”You both can use your clothes to make it more comfortable.” Luke suddenly heard Jäger say, the equivalent of someone dragging their nails across a fucking chalkboard. ”What are you talking about?” Luke suddenly realized that he had at least two chucklefucks watching him this entire time. ”I’m talking about Luke cervix punching the living hell out of her. Right here. Right now. I mean he’s pitching a tent right now so that’s where this is obviously going.” Oh no.

Luke did his best to keep his Dolls from ruining this moment. Looking at Shizuka he couldn’t keep himself from chuckling, grinning nervously and like a dork for a moment as he looked down at his feet. ”Sorry I...saw a chance and went for it. I didn’t know how you’d take it.” He apologized, though he knew that he was apologizing for no reason. He squeezed Shizuka’s hand for a moment. ”I’m happy that it paid off though.” he said with a smile, returning his gaze to Shizuka. He couldn’t keep himself from blushing, or keep himself from grinning happily. He didn’t really know what this meant for them, but he knew that it at least meant that Shizuka had the same feelings for him that he did her.

His nervousness was endearing. Something about him just seemed sweet and kind, but Shizuka wasn't sure why. Obviously his entire demeanor gave off those kinds of positive vibes, but there was something else to him. It was deeper inside his heart and the Fullbringer couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she was happy. He made her genuinely smile for the first time in a long while, and for that she was extremely thankful. He didn't judge her or make her feel unwanted, and he believed in her strengths. That was amazing. Actually, he was amazing. And she felt like she was so lucky for ever meeting him.

"You don't have to apologize to me. If I didn't want to do that, I probably would have pushed you away. But I didn't! So I consider that a win."

Unfortunately for the two of them, it seemed that things were starting to slow down. Who knew how much time had passed, but it was enough to where the fireworks and other festivities were coming to a close for the night. That was a shame because she really enjoyed the time out, but this didn't have to be the last date she ever went on with Luke. She had a feeling they were going to see a lot of each other one way or another, and that was completely fine with her. She hoped he felt the same, but she'd probably bother him anyway even if he didn't. She had no shame against that.

"Well, I hate that the show's over, but this was really cool! I had a lot of fun just goofing off for once. I mean, I goof off a lot, but this was more casual. I liked the time together."

Luke shared Shizuka’s disappointment that everything was coming to an end. After the applause from the crowd following the finale of the fireworks display everyone began to leave. The crowd was beginning to disperse as families, couples, and visitors all began to make their way either to cars or their routes home. Some lingered about, looking through the stalls that were only getting ready to close and hoped for some last minute customers. Though none of them mattered to the two standing on the rooftop. Even the people living in their apartments watching the show from their balconies didn’t notice the couple above them.

Luke could only smile a little more when Shizuka knocked back his apology, explaining that if she hadn’t wanted to kiss then she would have pushed him away. That was true. He really didn’t have anything to apologize for. Just like her, he considered it a win. It definitely meant that there was something between them. How far that thing went, well, had yet to be seen. But, from this point of view, the future looked good for them.

”Jokes aside I like her.”

”Yeah, it’s nice to get a break from time to time.” Luke replied, understanding what she meant more than most people probably would. Both of their jobs were things that could put a lot of stress on them. They were even dangerous at time. Being able to forget about that for a few hours and to just only focus entirely on the person you were with was a real gift for the both of them. Tomorrow both would be back to their lines of work. Shizuka would be back to Xcution, and Luke would be back to Uzaki Enterprise. There was something really, just, ironic about them. A savior with a killer. An assassin with a protector. It was an odd couple, one that could bring unwanted trouble to the both of them, but it seemed that neither of them seemed to care about what the other did as a profession. They looked past it.

”Come on. I’ll walk you home if you want, or to your bus stop or train.” Luke offered, trying to be polite. Though he knew Shizuka was more than capable of dealing with anyone stupid enough to jump her, wouldn’t have been right of him to just leave her like that. He’d at least walk her to where she needed to go and separate from there, promising to call her and see when they could do this again.
