A Heated Conversation in the Cold Winter Town

The battle was starting to becoming fierce as both Izanami and Kazuna both used their respective releases. Kazuna was trying to infect the fullbringer with his relentless assault. His abilities were meant to cause horrific decay throughout the victims body. Izanami was no different, but as he executed his swings, Kazuna felt it immediately. The swing that did not even hit him knocked him back with a blast of air.

The Espada was immediately intrigued. That kind of ability was indeed fascinating as he was knocked back a similiar distance to Hurtling Assault. As he was now a dozen feet away, Kazuna even with his own Energy Sensory was able to determine that there was a massive spike in the Fullbringers strength. Kazuna was preparing himself for a physical attack, but what he would find is that the next move was not visible at all.

Kazuna felt a mass headache come on. It hurt sure as hell as the Espada began to grip his head. He didn't scream, but he began to wince as he was visibly troubled by this. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, but he was able to acclimate to the pain atleast a bit with his pain tolerance. It was slightly above average, but it atleast helped him not fall to his knees. He did note her eyes, his analytical skill coming into play despite it being hampered due to combat. 

With difficult, the Espada jumped onto one of the buildings presumedly as the headache continued. The next move was an odd one. Kazuna made a fist and unleashed a bala. This bala, however, would not hit Izanami. In fact if she stood still she wouldn't get hit by the direct technique itself. Instead it was aimed between them. The concussive force of the bala kicked up a cloud of dust and debris. This was in an attempt to cut off the vision aspect if it played a role. Of course if it didn't Kazuna would find out soon. In the meanwhile, Kazuna focused his reiatsu into the palm of his hand as a few seconds later, a beam of burning reiatsu radiated outward from his palm. This one was directed at Izanami's last known position. Kazuna would wait to see if it hit as the dust cloud immediately dispersed due to the type of attack that the Cero was.

This had been the first time that Nami had accessed her true strength with her eye ability alongside her Fullbring at once. Watching the Arrancar react in a fair amount of pain was enough to Nami that she could see her use of Soul Dominance wasn't wasted. It wasn't as effective as she had been planning though. In truth Nami had been trying to destroy the head of this Arrancar yet it seemed his Heirro was strong enough to keep his head from being smacked by the air itself.

The moment that the Arrancar closed his eyes in pain Nami would take off rushing her foe with every intention of cutting through his skeleton body with her Fullbring in order to eliminate him and thus keep Karakura Safe. Unfortunately Nami didn't possesses the physical speed required to reach the Arrancar in time. The Arrancar was quick to escape to a nearby building roof.

Nami had lost sight of the Arrancar and thus her Soul Dominance was no longer in effect against him meaning the air that had been around his head would no longer be pressuring him. Turning to look up at the Arrancar Nami was preparing to attack him once again when she felt his reiatsu spike. She had been expecting him to attack her with a ability of his release yet she saw him fire off a bala towards him.

Reacting swiftly Nami hopped backwards not realizing until just before the bala hit the ground that this Arrancar either was horrific at aiming or he hadn't been aiming at her in the first place. Now with a dust cloud around her Nami felt the reiatsu of the Arrancar keep up with the feeling that he was channeling something. Nami lifted her left hand and waved gently utilizing Soul Command to open up the dust cloud around her.

She would see the Arrancar just in time for him to fire his cero right towards her. She could execute Bringer Light yet if she did then she put much of Karakura in danger with the Arrancar firing off a large beam of reiatsu. So instead Nami slashed forward with her Fullbring the blade cutting into the cero. Her Fullbring was strong enough to endure the force of the cero yet the ground around her was being destroyed by the split beam. Nami had to stop this quickly.

Looking up at the Arrancar name gazed at the roof that he took upon and would utilizing Soul Dominance once again. In the moment that followed the Arrancar would feel a heavy impact as the hard cement that the roof was formed from had taken the shape of a long arm extending from itself outwards and grabbed him by his neck while pushing him backwards off balance. The moment the cero was no longer pressing down on her Fullbring she would execute Bringer Light to reach the rooftop and attempt to finish this Arrancar as he was being choked out by the roof itself.

Kazuna eyed the dust with interest. It seemed to have dispersed before the Cero ripped through it. This and the prior instance led Kazuna to believe that Izanami or perhaps Fullbringers, in general, had the ability to affect the environment. Kazuna kept this idea in the back of his head. What was even more impressive was that Izanami had actually completely and utterly split the Cero in half with her blade.

Looking down from the roof, Kazuna smiled, the adrenaline rushing through his veins. He slowly began to feel his Spiritual Pressure restoring itself as well as his instincts. He looked down upon Izanami. "I have not felt this thrill in a while. The utmost desire to kill. Come. Entertain me more." Kazuna's wishes were apparently granted as a hand erupted from the roof that seemed to be composed of its origin.

It was an odd thing, to be choked out by a roof. Granted, Kazuna was at least able to move his hands. With a quick blow, Kazuna crossed his kama's under the wrist of this hand. Since his cutting power matched his RS, Kazuna had a great ability to cut through this. It didn't work the first time and it was difficult. With one final cut, Kazuna freed himself of the hand's grasp, albeit his vision still a bit blurry. 

That's when it came. Izanami appearing right beside him. In reaction to this, Kazuna tried to do something that admittedly was a little reckless. Assuming Izanami was about to use her blade, Kazuna reached out towards the hilt and pulled while kicking off of the roof. Using this momentum, Kazuna carried himself past Izanami. If this was successful, Kazuna would surge his blades with purple reiatsu as he would unleash another barrage of strikes upon Izanami, four to be exact all charged with Volatile Decay. If Izanami got hit by this, she would definitely feel these lumps on her body proportional to however many times she was hit.

The cero cut apart impacting the ground around her Nami continued to press her claymore against the beam of reiatsu until after a moment passed the cero was finished. The black top that she was standing on remained in passable condition yet around her it was dug up as the cero caused a massive indent in the road several meters down. If the cero had hit her directly she would have sustained sever damage. She took the moment and noticed that the edge of her claymore was singed it had been damaged by the cero. This gave Nami enough information to know that this Arrancar was stronger than her and she would need to kill him immediately.

She could see the Arrancar on the roof of the building the mouth of his skull face arced upwards into a smile. This was the moment. The Arrancar was giving over his sense of reason and fact to emotion. Nami had taken to seeing this in her foes and using that moment against them. She wasted no time as he began to speak to her once again. Commanding the roof itself to reach out at the Arrancar the arm that grew rushed him and managed to grab him by his neck. It didn't amount to much as the Arrancar was quick to slash at the roof with his zanpakuto breaking through the arm after the second hit.

Nami had used that time to close the distance between them. On the roof now near the Arrancar Nami was ready to finish him off by cutting through his body with her massive Fullbring. As she began to move though the Arrancar rushed her his kama cloaked in purple reiatsu just as they had been a moment ago when they cut through the roof. Nami was a swift learning and obviously whatever this Arrancar was doing with his zanpakuto was most likely one of his true abilities. She couldn't afford to get hit by his zanpakuto without knowing for sure what they could do to her. Stepping backwards Nami would actually give ground going on the defensive. When she stepped back Nami executed Movement in order to accelerate her retreat.

The distance that the Arrancar managed to travel by pulling in his zanpakuto and stepping forward would no longer be enough to carry him passed Nami as she positioned her Fullbringer in front of her with both hands now on the hilt to manage it more efficiently as a defense. Each strike that the Arrancar would attempt against her now Nami would be able to knock away only for her to shift her feet and swing towards the Arrancar horizontally in an attempt to decapitate the Arrancar.

Whether or not Nami was successful in striking the Arrancar or not she had come to realize something in the last exchange. The Arrancar was getting stronger the longer they fought. Perhaps he possessed a strange ability that was suited to drawn out conflict. She couldn't be sure if such a thing was the case of not. All this realization caused for Nami was more pressure to eliminate her foe faster. She couldn't give ground she had to use every ounce of her strength to kill him.

She hadn't put much time into learning or developing new Soul Command techniques and because of that Nami actually felt an emotion in the heat of battle. She was frustrated at herself. She lived to guard Karakura yet now despite finding this Arrancar right after he emerged into the town she may not be able to succeed simply because her options were limited. She couldn't utilize Soul Ignition or its sibling technique in the town itself due to the large collateral damage that either technique could cause. At the moment close combat was her only option and she would need to eliminate this Arrancar in the next few moves otherwise there was a good chance her victory was going to slip away from her. So she would stand ready after slashing towards the Arrancar waiting to see his next move and then would m respond accordingly.

This woman was quite the nuisance to Kazuna. His released set of mind drove him to want to murder her. To kill her and not look back. The sensible side tried to fight back and atleast kept himself semi-restrained. If this weren't the case, the Espada would easily roam and not care about the surrounding area. Kazuna did however, like the surrounding buildings. The town had a nice atmosphere in the heat of battle.

Nevertheless, the Noveno Espada saw Izanami use her movement to get out of the way. He was starting to run out of options. He wasn't able to hit her to apply his lumps and as such Kazuna tried a different approach. Same method, but he wanted to try something out since obviously her Claymore seemed more imposing than his kamas. Kazuna made sure to try and atleast block this strike meant to decapitate him.

The idea was simple really. Kazuna moved his Kamas in a cross formation in front of him as the blades clashed with the Claymore. Naturally, Izanami overpowered him with her superior strength. Kazuna, however, was able to avoid being decapitated. It did send him to the side a bit, requiring him to catch his footing as he was knocked to the side of the roof. He had to catch his breath as all this being knocked around was starting to get old.

Now then came the plan. Kazuna quickly focused his reiatsu. Within an instant, a circle formed around him. This circle began to expand at a rate of 400 speed at to a maximum distance of 100 ft which pretty safe to say, encompassed the roof and neighboring roofs if they were connected to the one they were on. If Izanami was caught in this technique,  she wouldn't feel any pain.

No, if Izanami remained within the zone she would feel her weapon become heavier. Well that wasn't quite it. The weapon would not become heavier, she would just become weaker. This ability cut a victims strength by a quarter of their physical strength as the muscles began to become smaller, suffering atrophy. Better yet, if she felt the weakening of her muscle, she would feel more.

A lump would from on her body, slowly draining her reiatsu if she was caught in it. This was not the final play. Kazuna quickly moved forward towards Izanami as his kamas glowed purple once more. This time he feigned strikes that could be easily parried by Izanami. In fact, the strikes were meant to hit her claymore. Two strikes to be exact. After those two strikes, whether they hit, miss, or were parried, Kazuna quickly moved his hand to unleash a bala at close range upon the Fullbringer. The Noveno Espada was certainly out for blood.

{Decaying Breakdown}Technique Name: Decaying Breakdown

Technique Description and Effects: Kazuna corrupts the ground around him. Anyone besides Kazuna in range of the corrupted ground suffers a 25% penalty to strength due to temporary muscular atrophy. If strength was at 100 then it will be at 75. For the duration of the debuff. If the victim is suffering from Volatile Decay, the reiatsu drain rate of Volatile decay is doubled ontop of the penalty. Kazuna is always the center of origin of Decaying Breakdown. As such, the ability always moves with him. The ability will end if he is separated from the ground i.e being forced to jump. This technique initially costs 200 reiatsu to start up, but it may be maintained for a cost of 100 reiatsu per post. The penalty remains for 2 posts once applied. The debuff will be refreshed upon entering the radius of the ability again. If a being not consisting of Reishi is affected by this ability, Volatile Decay will be able to afflict those beings for the duration of the debuff. Every post of contact with Decaying Breakdown applies 1 lump of Volatile Decay. Decaying Breakdown travels outward from Kazuna at a speed of 400 to a max range of 100 ft.

Technique Drawbacks: This technique suffers a few drawbacks. First and foremost, any opponent who is more agile than him will be able to avoid the corrupted ground unless caught by surprise. Maintaining the ability can be taxing on his reiatsu reserves. The most fatal flaw is that this ability has no vertical presence. If an opponent is not in direct contact with the corrupted ground, it will not affect them. Unless Kazuna gains an immediate benefit from this, he is practically wasting resources.

This battle was going on far longer than Nami had been expecting as she had planned on killing this Arrancar right from the beginning. She should have just released her full strength from the moment that she saw him. Instead though she had warned him and given him a chance to simply leave Karakura perhaps that had been her first mistake. Nami wasn't sure all she knew was that she had to kill this Arrancar. His might was enough to wipe the town off the map.

The slash that Nami made in an attempt to cleve the head of this Arrancar from his body was blocked by both of his zanpakuto. Nami was well aware that while his reiatsu had grown far above her own in terms of might, she still possessed superior strength. This fact was only reassured when the Arrancar was sent backwards across the roof by her slash. Perhaps she could finish him off with a physical strike if she could get through his Heirro. She would have to utilize every advantage possible in order to bring him down.

Nami felt it the moment that the Arrancar started to prepare his technique. His reiatsu spiked and it felt more powerful than anything else that the Arrancar had channeled since the battle had begun. Nami had to decide though would she attempt to evade this technique whatever it was or would she eliminate him now. This battle had already gone on far to long. She would need to kill him now!

The wave of reiatsu that was sent outwards from the Arrancar would effect everything within one hundred feet just like the Arrancar had planned with Nami also being effected. Nami though was no longer in front of the Arrancar. She would be completely out of sight. In the moment that followed the wave of reiatsu that the Arrancar unleashed though the Arrancar might feel a sudden impact around his waist.

The roof that the Arrancar was standing upon looked to have extended arms and hands upwards out of itself that punched and grabbed a hold of the Arrancar around his waist in order to restrain him from movement. The fit was tight it would be like trying to pulling one's self out of a stuck position as a child. This Arrancar didn't possible the physical strength to lift himself out of this hold which meant he would need to destroy it.

Nami would strike before giving him such a chance. The Fullbringer had executed Bringer Light once again the moment that the Arranvcar had sent out his wave. Instead of retreating though she had accelerated her movement in order to get above the Arrancar. She could feel her strength seeping from her body as her muscles twitched yet she could still hold her Fullbring. She would descend upon the Arrancar from behind him with her Fullbring positioned to strike downwards upon his head.

There was certainly no grimace when the effects of field of decay took effect. It was delightful to Kazuna. The pure though of Izanami just wasting away, her very essence decaying until nothing was left. Such was the carnage-ridden mind of Kazuna. Untamed to the point where all he sought was the destruction of others. What better way to express his power than through the decay he brought. 

Regardless of his ability, this next one he would not expect. A hand quickly raised from the roof itself and was choking him. Quite the unnerving ability she possesed. To command the very environment to her will. Maybe there would be someone who could experiment on her. Explore that magnificent ability. Kazuna simply shook his head with the little movement he had. He actually did not like that idea.

This cur had the audacity to challenge him? An Espada? Laughable how she tried her hardest to survive, but all that would arise from this is misery. Whether from Kazuna or from her was irrelevant, but it mwould be the only thing to come out of this. With great speed, the Fullbringer carried herself to the Espada, prepared to swing the blade down. It seemed that she did not care about the decaying field as Izanami was liable for a second lump.

Kazuna smirked and closed his eyes. Before doing so, however, he raised his hand below the wrist of the hand, but allowed the blade to come down without any kind of resistance. Why would he do this? Simple. Izanami would find her claymore to hit Kazuna, but be stopped as it hit him. There was a noise, but it seemed metallic in nature. Almost as if a coat of iron surrounded the Espada.

Kazuna smirked and laughed. "It seems to be that there is a great disparity in our ability after all. Your spirital capabillity is no match for mine as you could not make it past my Hierro..Now do as both a favor. Burn." With that the audible sound of a Cero charged for, but a second as it discharged, threatening to engulf the fullbringer in the purple ray right in front of Kazuna. How delightful.

The searing reiatsu would not touch any buildings. It would only be aimed upward at Izanami, but the real target was the wrist as it quickly dissolved under the burning sensation of his Cero. Hopefully, that fullbringer was burned in the ensuing attack or this could be perilous for Kazuna. It seemed, however, that he had the far better ability to sustain long term combat. Lets see how she manages from the Cero as his decaying aura still persisted, threatening to further infect Izanami if she remained.

Rushing the Arrancar now that he was once again restrained by the earth based material of the roof that had been commanded to grab a hold on him Nami was prepared to strike him down. She had allowed this to go in for to long as the Arrancar had already caused damage to Karakura even if it was minimal it was unacceptable. When she reached the Arrancar though and slashed downwards with her Fullbring instead of the large blade slicing through the bone arm sparks were sent flying across the space between them.

Nami could feel it immediately as she got within reaching difference of the Arrancar. Whatever this Arrancar could do was effecting her even worse now. She could feel the physical strength of her body seeping out of her almost like it was pouring from an opening and she happened to be a glass of water. This just made the point even more clear that if she was to stop this Arrancar and keep him from causing damage to Karakura she couldn’t hold back. For once her Fullbring couldn’t kill her target which left her with only her Soul Command techniques one of which was keeping this Arrancar from moving at the moment.

Nami could feel the ill effects of this Arrancar’s ability whatever it happened to be. She could feel her flesh moving as the growth grew from her back while another one had just started to form on her left forearm. The sensation was a throb and she wasn’t so sure what exactly each lump was going to do or what it would let this Arrancar do to her. Although his Heirro prevented her Fullbring from cutting him the Arrancar made the same mistake as hundreds of villains. . . He talked when he should have acted. While the Arrancar spoke claiming that Nami was weaker than him Nami was channeling her reiatsu into her stomach.

While at the same time the Substitute mortal enemy of the Arrancar focused her inner strength pulling on her reiatsu like a rubber band stretching it beyond the normal limitations in order to finish off this adversary.Almost if on cue when the Arrancar said burn Nami opened her mouth and would unleash a massive torrent of flames directly at him. The flames exhaled from her would rush over the body of the Arrancar onto the roof top scorching and melting the building itself as the skeleton form of the Arrancar was lost in the blaze. His natural reiatsu may have been stronger than her own yet now they were worlds apart and her flames would incinerate his cruel existence purging it from Karakura.

Kazuna was sure of his own abilities. His command over the concept of decay was certainly formidable. This Izanami was formidable, however. She surely had a few tricks up her sleeve, one of which was about to be shown off at this moment. As he was about to unleash the Cero, it seemed that Izanami would do most of the work for him as she doused her, him and the building they were standing on in flame.

In that moment, Kazuna felt the blissful burning agony that befell him. The flames ate away at the building, but Kazuna was in an interesting spot. The Cero in that moment had destroyed the hand, but the flames were searing and would tear at his body, his very skeleton. With determination, the sound of a much weaker Sonido would be heard, only carrying Kazuna at about a speed of 350. 

The movement threw him backward, a good few feet away from Izanami at least allowing him not remain in the flame, but the damage to the roof was done. It had seared the overall structure, but not compromising it. The tenants would be in for a surprise as in the morning, they would see a demolished roof. That was not what was important right now. Kazuna's breathing was tattered.

His robe had severe singed marks that quite clearly indicated being struck by fire. Kazuna was still standing. Barely. His legs were quivering, but his ability to withstand pain at least kept him conscious, aware and standing. The lumps that were still on Izanami were aleast still draining her. The Noveno Espada felt himself waver and knelt. In that moment, he heard dripping. Most of his wounds were cauterized from the flame, but his arm was dripping with blood. Kazuna looked up at Izanami as their battle would draw to a close very soon.

Blowing the air from her lungs that’s all she had to keep doing, she just had to keep flaring as hard as she could to incinerate this Arrancar. He had been ready to fire off a cero and this was perhaps the only way to stop him from potentially destroying not just herself, but multiple buildings at once as well. She was successful in attacking first hearing the sound of the cero in a sort of misfire along with the bones of the Arrancar engulfed in the almost white flames. She was already starting to feel it though her reiatsu was almost completely gone, her lungs, throat and mouth almost felt as if the flames were cooking them. She couldn’t keep this up as she damaged herself as well only to suddenly hear the sound of Sonido. Ceasing immediately Nami could tell she had delivered burns to herself by making the flames stronger than naturally possible. The roof of the building was almost like melted candy. She felt disappointment in herself for one of the first times knowing that she had damaged part of Karakura when her purpose was to protect it all.

Turning she could see the Arrancar still standing although he was particularly burned or well smoking from the attack that had clearly engulfed him. There was just one major issue that Nami already perceived about herself. She didn’t have any reiatsu left and her physical stamina was virtually gone as well. Standing was a struggle as well as talking now. She couldn’t win now. This Arrancar was still standing and from the looks of things could continue. She’d never been driven into this situation before, but she’d have to retreat, recover and return. Wasting no time Nami moved as best she could to the edge of the roof. Knowing the street below the Fullbring started down the Arrancar as they reverted back to the bright silver. Although she couldn’t speak the message was clear. “Next time we meet you won’t be so lucky.” Dropping from the roof Nami held her Fullbringer as best she could cutting right through a man hole cover into the sewer below. Potentially breaking bone, but definitely bruising Nami would begin to retreat to her apartment as best she could.
