This mission was beginning to frustrate me. I had thought we had the obese human when I removed his cross, but of course he had something to aid him hidden elsewhere on him. His second wind caught the two of us off guard, giving him ample time to escape us both. And now we had to somehow follow him. Hopefully he would not be able to run for long, but I know well enough not to let my assumptions cloud my judgement. Wycliff was getting serious, blasting a hole through the floor for us to follow the target, and tossing something to Ranth.
I unhooked my sheath from my belt, as I followed Ranth through the hole, not drawing the blade. I could not risk killing him with the sword, earning quite the hefty amount of anger from the bloodthirsty spirit within. With our ability to move through walls, we were unrestricted in our short search. The man was found quickly, thanks to my fellow Reaper. He was hiding behind a couch. Ranth was trying to talk him into surrender. It might have worked if this were a normal situation, but his stutter doomed the possibility of negotiation.
This man was a Quincy, no matter how cowardly. I doubted he would give up so easily. Rushing past the nervous reaper, I Shunpoed before the couch, using the added momentum to slam my foot into it, launching the large piece of furniture into his lower half. I refused to make the same mistake twice, and swung my sheathed blade into his right shoulder, hoping the prevent him from using any more of his magic, while also pinning him to the wall. This was all under the belief that he had been unable to set up a trap in the time it took us to find him. I had made another assumption if he had, and hopefully I would not pay the price for it.
