Tatsuya Shodōkage walked towards Squad 9's personal training ground. He was on his way to a spar between two shinigami, himself, and Nola Vilde, the 5th seat of Squad 10. He had recieved a formal request from her several days ago, asking for a spar with a Captain. Apparently, she wished to test the power of her release, but was afraid of inadvertently injuring someone, she wished to spar against a Captain, someone she was sure could withstand her power. Tatsuya was happy to oblige for several reasons. Aiding his fellow shinigami, particularly those ranked lower than himself, promoted his image withing the Seireitei. Additionally, this would give him the chance to gather information on the girl, and her release.
Tatsuya always desired more data after all. If she proved to be a good fit, he might even give her an invitiation into his own squad, as a 3rd seat. Squad 9 was sorely low on personnel at the moment, and he was on the prowl for more seated officers. he had no problem with poaching other squads of their talented shinigami. Of course, this was all relying on her being a good fit for the Squad, if not, he wouldn't extend the invitation. As he finished these thoughts, Tatsuya arrived at the training grounds. He had, as he always did, ensured that he would arrive precisely on time, looking around, he searched for the young seated officer.
When he saw her, he would approach and greet her, "Hello Miss Vilde, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Captain Tatsuya Shodōkage, at your service." He would give her a polite, short bow. He gave off a light, vibe or professionally mixed with congeniality. He hoped to make her comfortable. "Now I understand you'd like a spar to test the power of your Shikai? Why don't you tell me a bit about it, and your concerns with it before we begin?" This way he could give proper advice on it's usage afterwards, if she required it. Many times people had exceptional releases that just needed a slight change in mindset to really bring out their full potential.

She knew that this was going to be complicated. If anything it was probably even a little worse that a captain would be subjec ted to this. A second captain. Another that would possibly be marred by the intricacies of her power that she could not control. She couldn't. It wasn't possible. She remembered the reason. So many memories was a maddening thing. It was probably why her zanpaku'to was as....eccentric as it was. As she had been. As she is.
The sight of him was a mild comfort. He seemed to be a shady man. Just at a glance he seemed like the kind of man that could take it. He would be able to withstand what happened. The greeting was even a comfort. Casual. Light. He did not even seem to respond much to her odd looks. That vibrant red skin and that pale white hair of hers. Even among the shinigami it was a ridiculously unusual look. And nobody ever commented on it. Even though inside she knew that they thought about it.
" It is a pleasure to meet you Captain." She noted in a soft tone, bowing just a bit more deeply than the captain had, assrting her respect for the man before she stood upright. And the mention of her reasoning now becoming...clear. she sweated, looking off to the side. "Not quite. I know my Zanpaku'to's capabilities. I just have a very unusual Zanpaku'to spirit. I need to try and gain a more controlled aspect of it. I can't be in control. Thats simply not how it works. I can't handle all of it. But I need to try and...discern just what my level of control is." She noted softly.
It took just a moment for her to look at him up and down. She wondered what parts about him shed find out about. What parts of his personality. What parts of his life. But most of all how he would be able to adapt. How strong was his will? How was his ability to focus on what he was doing? It wouldn't be quite enough. It never was. But still, it prickled in her mind. " There is nothing I can really say to prepare you for this. I would also ask that the nature of my powers not be broadcasted. " She murmured softly, taking just a moment to look around herself. To try and ground herself.
" Is there anything you wanted to discuss or get out of the way before We begin?" She asked lightly. There was something on her mind... but she decided not to mention it until she had heard what he had to say first. If anything she wanted to see what sort of concerns he might have first. That was important. To see what his priorities were. To see where he stood and what he found to be important for these sorts of things.

Tatsuya was intrigued to say the least. TO hear Nola say it, her release was exceptionally powerful. However, he wasn't a captain for nothing, he was confident in his ability to handle anything she could muster. Although, for the sake of safety, he wanted to lay some ground rules. "Seeing as this is a spar, lets stray from serious injuries. I'll limit my power a bit, so you have the chance to experiment and attempt to garner some control over your release. I don't want you to hold back, so I don't want you to worry about injuring me, I can tke care of myself. Come at me with everything you have, if for some reason I need to, I may release as well."
Tatsuya was actually looking forward to this, it had been a while since he had stretched his muscles. Ever since he had become a captain, so much of his time had been spent on the squad, reorganizing it, and working on his information network. This would be a good chance to gather some information on a possible recruit, as well as blow off some of the stress he had built up. Throughout his meeting with her, he had put forth his trustowrthy, light hearted persona. Polite, and professional, he was the picture of a responsible captain. It was important to make good first impressions.
Standing back to give her some room for releasing, Tatsuya pulled out a cigarette and put it to his lips, lighting it, and take a long drag from the smoke stick. Sighing, he closed his eyes for a moment, and then loked at Nola. "I'm ready whenevr you are." At the moment, Tatsuya was prepared to test her limits. not only in combat prowess, but also her intelligence and decision making skills, which were infinitely more important to a man like him. it would be interesting to see how she approached combating a superior oppnent. Would she attempt to overwhelm him? Or focus on outmanuevering him, trying to work around his raw power advantage?
As it was, Tatsuya focused on calmy analyzing her stance, from the placement of her feet, to the movement of her eyes. Attempting to learn about her as a person, how she thought, what she might do in a fight. people underestimated the need to know your enemy. not just their powers, but their thought processes and how they would react to different situations. These were just as important. With the information gained from this, Tatsuya would have a better understand, and ability to predict what she would do and how she would do it. He projected the utmkost confidence, but not arrogance. he would be prepared for anything.

Nola took a slow, steady breath as she calmed herself. The jitters and nervousness evaporating as she took slow and deliberate breaths. Her force of will flattening the fears adn uncertainties. She did pause. He wanted to avoid serious injuries, and yet he wanted her to try her hardest against him. Which meant that she was to try to injure him as much as possible. He was very confident at the very least. He was a captain, he had every right to be, honestly.
She didn't have much of a combat stance. As it were. She simply had a stern, upright stand. Completely centered and with excellent posture, but with no weight shift in anticipation of making an attack. The way she held herself made it very unclear as to what it was she was going to do, and for just a moment she considered showing him her abilities outside of just her release. But... that was not what she was here for. That was not why this was happening.
She was here to focus on her release. She hated using it, especially when she still was not at all certain about it. even so she drew the blade, which in and of itself was already so very unique. It was long and looked exactly like a needle. She held it by it's eye, and it was several feet long, and deadly sharp looking. " Whisper in my ear." She whispered herself, and the air around them cooled as a very subtle breeze flowed through the area. And Despite how much power she held within her, there was nothing. No explosion of reiatsu or spiritual force. For the Captain he would simply become firmly aware of Nola's spiritual pressure. It wasn't quite crushing down, but it was like a static. More like a buzz than a roar.
And the dome formed. Of course the Captain lacking spiritual senses would not notice in the slightest. Sure he was able to feel the spiritual pressure of someone released, just like anyone could. But he couldn't feel the surge of reiatsu that came with a release, the one that covered everything within a Mile of Nola, A bitter zone that was not something that any could resist. Something forced from her fight with sozen. Something that altered the reality within a set space. "Captain...."
Nola's BiTter hEart
"Captain, you really shouldn't be smoking." Nola murmured. There was no real jarring transition. It wasn't as if he had suddenly been moved somewhere else, it would simply feel like the Captain had dosed off for just a second, and like any dream, there was no confusion, his brain simply snapped into what was happening, just like Nola didn't even notice the difference. She was no more privy than he was as to why they were sitting together on the side of a cliff. The scenery itself was...beautiful. Breath-taking. A sheer cliff right below their dangling feet that swept into a beautiful canopy of green and little white specs. Countless flowers growing into the treetops that glowed so very faintly. It was so late that the lights of the flowers below looked like stars, mirroring the ones up above.
It was a little chilly, the smallest of distractions from the scene before them. A scene the Captain wouldn't know at all. But one that Nola remembered. It was always easier to start with Nola's memories. Even if the Captain was taller than Ricky was. It was just as warm as she leaned against his shoulder. And the captain would feel just as pleased to feel her body supported by his. "Nonsense. It keeps me warm." The captain's own voice would be heard, words that came to his lips fluidly, that slight smirk on his face as he glanced at Nola, so very subtle that even she didn't notice it when she glanced back up at him.
Nola snorted lightly at that, reaching up and pinching the end of the cigarette, the Captain could have easily avoided her reach, but it was so calm and peaceful, he really didn't feel like doing so. Even as Nola hissed softly from the lit cigarette burning her fingers, she still gave the man a shaky smile as she scooted just a bit closerand let her arm slide around his waist from behind. A slightly offended tone to her voice as she spoke. " That's MY job."
The BitTer ENd
" That's MY job Captain." Nola echoed as she reappeared infront of them, in that brief moment. The Moment that the mind took to revert completely to reality. For the area around them to turn back. The small of all those trees would still linger in the air. As Nola used Shunpo to close in on the Captain, a slight...frown on her face as she raised her zanpakuto and sought to lightly tap the needle against his blade, not to attack him, but to wake him up, that little jolt of impact hopefully enough to make sure he didn't linger in the shift between memory and reality. Even though her ability made them one and the same.
"I don't suppose that I could ask you to take the first strike. I always hate having to attack first. Defense just seems like a better position." She murmured, shifting slightly, Tatsuya would possibly even be a bit dissappointed to see her in her uniform. What she had just been wearing had been a lot prettier. A proper little sleeveless vest and a pencil skirt, and he would remember that i was because she had come back from her work in the rukongai. He still had the memories about her that had been going through his head while they were both in it. He suddenly KNEW things about her. At least thats how he would feel.
Indeed, some aspects of Nola's life had been transmitted during the scene. Though not all of them were actually true. Only some of them. And it would be interesting. Nola's ability, like the ability of any lunatic, were incredibly hard to understand. But it seemed like not only did the memory involve a certain situation and scene, but also entailed the thoughts that were involved in the scene. During that little episode, it was as if Nola had had control over everything, even the way he was thinking during it's events. It controlled what he remembered, like when he had looked at her outfit and remembered where it was from. But did that mean that she had remembered things about him as well?
It was his job to think about these sorts of things. Just how much about him did she know about? Given just how...familiar it had felt. The way she had called him 'Captain' had not been normal. It was like the way a good friend or one's family would playfully annunciate the title that they clearly didn't truly see as your identity. Saying it differently to let their friend or loved one know that they were teasing them. In actuality, Nola had learned nothing. Her Zanpaku'to was fickle like that. Sometimes he gave her so much, and other times so little. In this instance, Alte Furcht was intentionally trying to make the Captain paranoid.
