Physical Description: [Axis has a very different aura from most other Arrancar. Unlike others, he does not often show off his incredible reiatsu strength. Quite to the contrary, Axis is known to have a reiatsu strength which is significantly below par compared to other Arrancar. This is because of his typical demeanor, which is lazy, uncaring, and often suppressive of his own abilities. In terms of raw ability, his potential is not at it's maximum either, and therefore his ability to crush others with pressure is not capped out either. Therefore, what makes him terrifying is not what is conventional. By most means, many would typically underestimate Axis with these perceived weaknesses, and would never be able to guess that he ranks so high within the Escudo. He is considered the strongest Zarpa however, and for good reason.
Axis's aura seems different and makes him appear weaker because he is subonsciously suppressing his own powers. He never trains, and he suppresses himself. Despite this, what Axis lacks in perceivable reiatsu strength and class he makes up for with his daunting presence. Anyone that looks upon Axis can tell immediately that he is different from anyone else. It is difficult to say how, but upon seeing him ready to battle, anyone can tell that something is absolutely different. He is not the same as other Arrancar. There is something unique to the way he presents himself, some unique quality which reveals him even without evidently strong reiatsu strength or class as the most powerful Zarpa. By default, he is already conspicuous because of this ominous feeling that he gives off.
Many have described it as "intensity." In his eyes, in his demeanor, and even in his bodily movements, there is a kind of residual "intensity" that is otherwise indescribable. Just by looking at his eyes, one is convinced of his incredible power. It is intimidating. Those who first see Axis Recio will immediately feel his intensity, and off the bat may even surrender. He is someone whose eyes alone will make people sweat. Just one look into his intense gaze is enough to unsettle anyone. They should definitely be unnerved by his appearance. Something about him has simply set him apart from anyone else.
His eyes are the first part of this. His eyes have a perpetually intense gaze on them when he is in battle. While sometimes, and in fact most times, he appears lazy, and therefore his eyes come off as lazy as well, when he is in battle, the intensity changes. He appears so absolutely focused that even the most powerful of warriors have felt their courage diminish before him. These eyes of his are ice blue in color, and seem in battle to always be glowing bright like a light. It is said by some that his eyes can be seen even in the intensity of total blackness, where no light exists at all.
In addition to his eyes however, it is only natural that to truly be so intimidating, Axis has other facets to his appearance as well which show it. Firstly, he is incredibly tall. Standing at over two meters tall, Axis is usually far taller than his adversaries. He towers above them, casting an enormous shadow over them which looms and makes him seem much bigger than they are. Being tall has always been a part of who he is, and many have been intimidated by the fact that he can simply look down on them. His enormous height once almost made him a target for bullying when he was a human child. Almost. Unlike many however, he knew early on how to use his height.
He is lanky. While muscular, he is lanky, with long legs and long arms. This is how he presumably maintains his height. He has a well defined body, chest, six pack, arms, legs. He is not a body builder, but is rather a lean, lanky, very well toned individual. This tone and height make him appear extremely athletic, which is accurate given that he was primarily an athlete in his human life. What makes him stand out even among athletes however is that when he goes into battle, his muscles harden and appear to get larger, as if his entire body is perpetually flexing. This may not physically and actually be the case, but in appearance, that is certainly what it looks like.
Axis is also intimidating because of his hands. He has enormous hands. They are considerably larger than most people's hands, and this makes them something to be feared. Being large already to begin with, having large hands make him more intimidating, as with a single hand he has the power to crush someone's face in with everything that he's got. There are very few that have heads which he cannot begin to squeeze with his hands like a ball. It is quite the scary feat, if one stops and thinks about it. Axis has never been one who was overestimated. He lives up to all expectations and then defies them all the more.
With all that in mind, Axis is a dark skinned individual. He is very tanned, with a quite browned skin tone, and he has very dark blue hair. It is not black. It is dark blue. His appearance is unsettling not just because he is big, but because he is dark and his hair looks unusual. It is cut short but done in layers, so that it appears messier and frizzier than normal. Axis is subjective in terms of how good looking he is. He looks very young, appearing to be entering into his prime, around physical age 22, and some have found him to be average in attractiveness, while others cannot begin to understand how attractive they find him. It is subjective based on individual taste. Typically however, any attractive which he has is wittled away by his personality.
One of the most important facets of Axis is his outfit. Unlike most Escudo, who at least try to wear something that resembles what one would wear if belonging to Las Noches, signifying the inevitable and eventual takeover of said palace, Axis sees no point in wearing something like that. At the Escudo base, and oftentimes in other places, his outfit consists primarily of a white dress shirt tucked into black khaki pants. He has a black tie as well. His outfit is very neat, though the khaki pants and lack of blazer make it appear quite casual. His shoes are typically average flats, or walking shoes, though one noticeable change is that when he enters battle, they actually magically transfigure into athletic shoes. Typically, he actually does not wear one set outfit. He just happened to wake up in these clothes one day, and so now he wears them regularly.
His distinctive characteristics, meaning Hollow Hole, Mask Fragment, and Numbers, are all located in particularly interesting places. Well, the mask fragment isn't. That's normal. It's just an earring along his entire left earlobe. His hole is where one would expect it. Most have it along their heart, stomach, or throat. Axis's hollow hole is where his heart should be. His heart is actually on the other side of his chest, the incorrect side. On the side where his heart normally would be, there is a hole. That is his Hollow's Hole. His numbers are right next to each other on his right upper bicep of his arm. It reads "2/10" along his arm. He will defeat the Segunda, and he will defeat the Decima.
In terms of appearance, where one appears is also important. Out of all of the Escudo, though Axis is often considered the most powerful in the organization, he is rarely seen with the others, and is usually seen alone. Rather, he is typically seen sleeping somewhere lazily instead of interacting with the others. Given however that his full potential has yet to be reached, and this is very evident, it daunts others to think of what kind of a monster he could become if he started training.]
Face Claim: Aomine Daiki

Dislikes: [Create a List below.]
1. Fighting ~ What point is there in combat...? All of them are so weak that I can't even enjoy it anymore...I hate fighting...it's such a pain in the ass, and there are no redeeming qualities about it...If it were up to me, I would never fight again... Maybe then I'd get weaker and something interesting might happen.
2. The weak ~ They're the reason that everything is so boring. Why the hell do they suck so damn bad? If only they were stronger...if only they were most worthy...why are they all so godamn pathetic? I hate people who are weak...because of them, I can't enjoy anything...
3. Everyone ~ I hate the weak. They're the reason that everything is so boring. What sucks even more is that everyone is one of those people. Everyone is weak. There's not one damn person on my level who can make me enjoy things...I hate it. I hate them all.
4. Training ~ Training...? You must be fucking kidding. I'll kill you if you make fun of me. Training? Really? Why would I do something like that? If I train, I'll only get stronger... There isn't any need for me to become more powerful...
5. Being strong ~ Why the hell am I so strong? I didn't ask to be so powerful. When I became an Arrancar, I thought I was going to get a lot more opponents. Why the hell did everyone become so weak after that? Why don't I have any equals at all? This is...stupid.
6. Winning ~ Every time I win, I realize how powerful I am. There's no one stronger than me. Hell, there isn't even anyone equal to me. I'm too fucking strong for anyone to fight against. It pisses me off. I don't have a rival at all, and that pisses me off more than anything... I don't have a rival...there's only me.
7. The Espada ~ I joined the Escudo because I thought maybe fighting the guys who are supposedly the strongest in Hueco Mundo would be challenging, but they all suck, too...they're so damn weak. Why the hell are they so damn weak? It's really annoying.
8. The Escudo ~ I joined the Escudo because I thought that even if the Espada weren't as strong as me, maybe the guys designed to kill up to two Espada each would be strong enough to fight me. And look at what I found. The hell? Even these guys are all weaker than me.
9. All Factions ~ I've fought guys from Xcution, the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, and Las Noches and even my own damn faction. I've seen people from everywhere, all around all three worlds. And yet I still don't have a rival. Everyone is still just so damn weak... It's disgusting. I don't have a rival...there's only me.
10. Nature ~ Not even that can conquer me. No hurricanes, floods, fires, or storms can challenge me. I'm a monster that defies even nature. I hate it. Why is my whole world a cardboard box? Why is it all so damn weak? I hate it...I hate it...I hate it...There's nothing for me in any world.
11. Being awake ~ When I'm awake, I'm just bored or annoyed. I don't think that I really like being awake. All I do is despair. I don't feel anything good when I'm awake, because there is nothing out there for me. If only I had different interests...but nothing makes me passionate except fighting. But there's no one to challenge me...no one at all...not even when I'm asleep...
12. Life ~ Life has nothing for me. Even asleep, I can't be challenged by anything or anyone. Fuck, the only reason I don't just kill myself is because that's a pussy thing to do. I'm too damn prideful to kill myself. Ultimately, that's probably the only real way out, though.
13. Soul Reapers ~ How are they so damned imperfect? They can't use their own Kido spells to their fullest extent, and their ability to use Hakuda is laughable. Even their Zanpakuto aren't even things that they can fully control. These guys are the weakest of the weak. They're a weak even beyond the normal that I'm used to.
14. Arrancar ~ If these guys are supposed to be perfection, then why can I kill them so easily too? Hollows are weak. Soul Reapers are weak. You'd expect a combination of them to get better, but they don't. Even Arrancar are weaker than I am, and I'm one of them too. What the hell makes everyone so pathetic?
15. Akki ~ Akki are supposed to be big shit, aren't they? They're weak. Coming from Hell, you'd expect them to be incredibly powerful, or at least worth fighting against. They're just difficult to predict. What good is that? There's nothing challenging about a guy who can use a sword in a special way.
16. Things that smell bad ~ Come on...it isn't that difficult to get some good hygiene going...if you're going to get anything to smell that bad, or yourself, just die or destroy it. There's no excuse for things smelling like a godamn sewer. When I'm trying to sleep, things that smell bad are annoying.
17. Socks ~ Just because I wear them, doesn't mean that I like them. They make feet sweaty, and they're slippery too. I wear them because maybe it will help me lose an advantage in battle if my shoes are destroyed and all I can do is slide on my socks. That's unlikely, though.
18. Dirty socks ~ Clean your socks. They already make your feet sweaty enough that you should know beyond reasonable doubt that they can smell really fucking bad. If they smell, stop wearing them, and fucking wash them before you wear them again. Or I'll kill you.

1. Models ~ Supermodels probably have a good life. All they have to do is pose, and then they get to nap all that they want. They don't even have to worry about something like challenge or anything like that...what a good life. I wish that I was a supermodel.
2. Big boobs ~ I like women with big boobs. They're attractive. I especially like hot supermodels with big boobs. Besides being something that I want to fuck, their boobs can probably be used as cushions for me to sleep...Yeah, just the thought is making me tired...ZZZZZ....
3. Pop culture ~ I'm not the first one to think it, but I'll be the first Arrancar to admit that I think it's interesting. I might want to do something related to it if I ever decide to use Saigo No Houmen to become a human, even though that'd be pretty stupid and shitty of me.
4. Sleeping ~ I don't have to think about how boring the world is when I'm asleep. Hell, at least sleep can conquer me. I can't overpower that forever. Maybe sleep is the ultimate rival to me...I don't know. I'm getting tired just thinking about stuff like that. I'm going to sleep. Thinking sucks.
5. Not having to think ~ Not having to think is great because it means that I'm probably asleep. The whole world and everything in it and around me is just so troublesome anyway...I think I'll just...ZZZZZ.....
6. Death ~ I don't think that I'm ever going to die, but I like the idea of it...Of nothingness. I know that I'm going to Hell when I die. That's how it works if you're an Arrancar. It's a harsh reality, which is probably part of why I don't just enforce it for myself. It's just not my thing.
7. Hakuda ~ I'm honestly surprised that Soul Reapers aren't better at it. Hakuda has a lot of potential that they just don't hold it up to. Well, I guess that that's just because they're abominably weak...It happens like that when you suck.
8. Sports ~ Incorporating what you learn for physical fitness from sports into combat was pretty cool when I first discovered it. Now, it's just another reason why everyone else around me sucks, but I guess that's why I just spend my time sleeping...
9. Striking an enemy for the first time ~ The expression on their face the first time I hit them always gets to me. It's like they didn't expect me to crush them the way that I do...I told you, I have no rival. There's only me.
10. Family Guy ~ What a great TV show. It's funny. It's also funny. And it's funny. Did I mention that it's funny? It's about one of the only things out there that takes my mind off of my boredom. It's a great show. It lets me spend time in the human world.
11. Human World ~ There are a lot of great places to sleep here. It's a wonder people don't sleep in the human world more often. It's so full of vibrance, life, and comfortable areas to catch some Zs.
12. Anywhere that isn't Hueco Mundo ~ When your home is just a fucking desert, you get very bored. Not only do you get very bored, but you get very sleepy. I'm sleepy all the godamn time. I'm sick of it, and I'm sick of my stupid desert home.
13. Batman ~ There aren't any heroes better than Batman. Besides, think about it. He's the weakest of the Justice League in terms of powers. He is always challenged, and finds a way to come out on top. His life must be a lot more fun than mine...I wish I was Batman.
14. Pokemon ~ At least, if I'm going to do something, I can play my pokemon games. I own a Nintendo DS even though I'm an Arrancar, and I have some pokemon games that I can play. Say what you like, do what you will, I am a pokemon master. Proof? I have all the pokemon up to the Sinnoh Region's, and all are level 100.
15. Not having missions ~ Why should I have Escudo missions? All I'm supposed to do is kill those two Espada, right? Why are there other things that I'm supposed to do? Hell no I'm not doing them. I'm going to sleep. Fuck you.
16. Sozen Kuchiki ~ This guy is really rich. I like him because of that. Mostly because I know if I beat him up, I can probably get him to buy me things. I've never actually met him, but I think that's how it probably works. It sounds like that's how it is to me.
17. Pizza ~ Pizza is the greatest. Too bad it's not healthy. Well, I don't care if it's healthy or not because I'm an Arrancar. I just eat whatever tastes good. I would kill for a pizza flavored Hollow, though. That would be heaven in a bite.
18. Motorcycles ~ I think motorcycles are sexy. Especially Suzuki. Suzuki and motorcycles are awesome. I don't own one and I've never ridden one, but I like seeing magazine ads for them and I like admiring them up close. One day I'll have one.
Flaws: [Create a list below.]
1. Absent-minded ~ Ehhhh? I'm not stupid...I mean, shit, I've gotten caught in animal traps before because they stuck a motorcycle under a crate with a stick, but come on...I'm not that stupid. What, are you talking about the noodle thing? That was one damn time...
2. Lazy ~ I'm not that lazy... Eh, alright, I am. Shit's troublesome. I like to sleep. 18 hours a day. Fuck, even explaining myself to you is really just a big pain in the ass. I think I'm going to...give up...on explaining to you...ZZZZ...
3. Sleepy ~ So what if I'm always tired and like to sleep? Who the hell else doesn't enjoy sleep? It ain't like no one else does it, but me...Fuck. You guys are just a bunch of losers. The hell do you mean, "Axis, get up and do your job, Axis get up and kill your Espada"? You fuckers, I can do that whenever the fuck I want.
4. Unmotivated ~ What? The hell do you mean I don't have motivation? My Espada numbers are 2 and 0...are you fucking kidding me? Eh? It's moot if I'm too damn lazy to kill them? Well fine, I'll go kill them. ...Eh, nah. Too troublesome. I think I'll just go back to sleep. ZZZZZZZ...
5. Conspiracy Theorist ~ I'm not making this up. Everything is a conspiracy one way or another. It all ties in to The Conspiracy Ultimatum. That's all real. The Box is real, the banana peel price is real, and even the nobility incest is real...It's all real... It's all a conspiracy. It's all...hashtag.
Habits: [Create a list below.]
1. Saying "Ehhhhhhh"
2. Yawning randomly
3. Sleeping
4. More sleeping
5. Blacking out in the middle of combat
6. Scratching the top of head
7. Reading each month's new Playboy on the third day after it comes out
8. Dribbling things that are bouncy
9. "Tick tock" noises with tongue when bored
10. Drawing hand across blade and cutting across palm
Fears: [Create a list below.]
I fear nothing...What is there in this world for me to fear? Death? No one can kill me. Torture? Who's strong enough to restrain me long enough for that? I don't have loved ones, and I don't have comrades or allies. I'm all alone in this world, with no one to stand as my equal or my superior, and nothing that can conquer me. I won't be killed, I won't be hurt, and I don't have anything I care about that you can take away from me...There's nothing to my life except my objectives, but even those are trivial because I can do them at any time. No, I have no reason to fear anything. I have no fears. I have no rival. There is only me.
Goals: [Create a list below.]
I don't really have any goals. I don't have anything to really strive for in this world, anyway. I'm too good at the things I liked, and I don't have the capacity to like anything else. I don't have bonds, nor do I have real enemies or allies. Just colleagues and the other side. I don't have equals. Only inferiors. So, there's no one for me to rise above or against, to conquer. There's nothing I like doing that I can't do, so I ain't got any real motives. I guess I've got to kill the Segunda Espada, Kuroi Naito, and the Decima Espada, Cain...But those are just obligations. I took them because they seemed like the strongest in a group of losers..
I used to hope for a rival that could challenge me. I planned on becoming my best to fight against and defeat my rival, but...that was worthless. In the end, no one was on my level. They all just sucked too damn badly. So, I'm all alone, with no ambitions or motivation. I have nothing to live for, but I don't believe in suicide. Besides, I'm an Arrancar. If I die, I just have to keep existing in Hell anyway. So what's the point? I just have to float through this world, and fucking sleep...that's all I can do. There are no goals for me in this stupid, decadent place...
Alignment: [Passive Neutral]
Aspect of Death: [Despair]
Overall Personality: [Axis is shown from the start as a very egotistical, arrogant individual that is not well liked by even his own comrades. When he was a human, it is apparent that growing up, he was much more likable and cheerful, even described by some as an "optimistic fool." However, when his athletic abilities began to peak, and he started to become extremely strong, he began to change. Because of his inability to locate a suitable rival to his power, Axis has started to reject the world around him because of his despair. It is from this that his initial personality was first born.
Axis's personality is one of arrogance. He often has very little regard for those around him, and is rude and punkish in that he will blatantly disregard the wishes of others, such as when he is seen telling both Mozo of Escudo to piss off, or otherwise to try and make him obey with their unsuitable and inferior power. He is also seen in more than one case as stealing food from other Hollows or Arrancar, and oftentimes has killed them and then devoured them and the meal. Even as an Arrancar, he has been known to do this, simply because of being both bored and hungry.
Axis is usually extremely rude, referring to others he has just met not only without honorifics, but by their first names. He says this during his first encounter with Kuroi, and even refers to all of his fellow Zarpa and even the Mozo Leaders of Escudo by their first names. Axis has been reprimanded more than once by the more stern people that he encounters for doing this, however he has never stopped, and it is evident that he probably never really will stop. He is rude to the bone, as well as punkish and arrogant, clearly not acknowledging anyone as even remotely close to being his equal.
Axis has gone so far as to say "I have no rivals. There is only me." He has also said "Equals? No such thing for me." He does not believe that he has either an equal or a superior, and acts as such. He has always been arrogant and has gotten on the nerves of many people. He is often known to yawn in the middle of conversation, disregard people speaking, and cut them off as well, or stop listening. He regularly invades the personal space of others, and has no problem stating things bluntly and as simply and rudely as possible. While some appreciate his honesty, the way in which he presents it is usually not as appreciated by those that receive it.
Axis has always been disliked by his teammates, no matter where he was. In human life, when he began to peak, he started to skip practice for all of his sports, and later quit all of them because "they were too stupid anyway," earning frowns from all of his former team members. This is seen once again when Axis is a member of The Five Prodigies in Shino Academy. As the strongest of the prodigies, Axis cannot be brought down or reprimanded for his arrogance, and even to the other four is seen treating them as if they are his inferiors, barely even teammates, clearly earning scorn and irritation from all of them. The only one he seems to have respected at all is Souza, who was the obvious leader.
Even as a Zarpa, Axis consistently gets on the nerves of the other Zarpa, several of which have threatened to cause harm to him or even end his life. Axis however has never been seen to take the threats seriously, and if he does, usually just smirks and tells them to "come and try with that inferior power." He has a habit of referring to those that he finds weaker than himself as "losers," or if they're a group, they're "just a bunch of losers." Axis typically does not have much if any of a fanbase, and has never been well liked at all by those around him because of his extremely difficult outward personality.
Not only is he extremely arrogant, but in combat he is extremely aggressive too. He despises the weak, and clearly has no inclination to be merciful. Axis often completely and utterly crushes his adversaries, even going so far as to humiliate them before he kills them. Axis does not have a problem with killing his opponents. Sometimes he may opt not to do so because of his extreme laziness, but otherwise he is usually fine with butchering them and leaving them in pieces. There is often nothing left of Axis's opponents because of the sheer level of power behind his attacks.
Axis is a blank slate with no real goals, aspirations, or motives. Even his general preferences are shallow. He very much likes motorcycles and leather jackets, and has expressed that he is a fan of attractive models, however beyond that there is not much to his internal struggle. He has never had close friends or anything of the sort, as people have always felt intimidated by his incredible accomplishments, and have never really approached him. This fostering loneliness, as well as isolation in a realm where no one could equal him and he crushed everyone quickly, left him in a state of despair and annoyance. He is constantly bored, yet has no hope of any sort as well. He has no optimism at all in evne the smallest of ways.
This has led to Axis becoming both very lazy and very unmotivated. He spends 18 hours of his day sleeping, and the remaining six are spent doing other things just because he can't physically sleep for longer than that 18 hours. He is known to wander a great deal, and oftentimes does so in his sleep, leading him to wake up in unexpected places, like magic. Axis just walks around, does things on a whim, and lives. Being an Arrancar is nothing special to him. He just does as he does. He is often seen falling asleep at random, or taking a nap during the middle of a fight, because of his boredom. Axis's ultimate limit of personality, therefore, is not any sort of moral restraint, but how much effort he is willing to put in, which is often the bare minimum. If his opponent is considered beaten, but is not yet dead, he often will leave them alive because he is too lazy to walk over and get the job done.
Axis may be disdainful, but he is not evil. He is simply searching for a way to entertain himself. He is destructive, and has done horrible things, but on occasion will do something nice for someone and will treat someone well. He seems to have a soft spot for former comrades, such as the Five Prodigies, and even for his own Zarpa comrades, as well as for attractive girls. This soft spot is limited in that he will stick up for them briefly, but it's existence derails the idea that he is completely evil. Rather, Axis is simply very bored, and does not understand tact or social impact, or really even consequence. He is neutral, and is simply lacking in total understanding.
Still, Axis is known to have a very short temper, and will get angry for being underestimated, despite his great strength, or for being looked at with "eyes that I don't like." Oftentimes he has illogical reasons for getting angry, but will still do so. When angry, Axis takes advantage of his size to intimidate. In combat, when angry, Axis often stops playing around as much, and will actually take the effort to kill the opponent and then have done with it so that "I can go home, masturbate a bit with your blood as lube, and go to sleep soundly knowing that I killed you and made everyone that ever loved you miserable and sad."]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fighting Style: ["You're boring me."
That first quote highlights the first half of Axis's fighting style. This is what one would call his "docile" side. Axis is the strongest Escudo member, even more powerful than both of the Mozo, the leaders. He is the most powerful of the Zarpa, and has more than once been claimed as the most powerful currently living Arrancar. While when he was a lower level he trained intensely to become as strong as possible, he has since then become quite lazy, and is contented to spend all of his time now sleeping. As a result, he is considered rusty.
It is a well known fact that Axis is inherently powerful. Even though he no longer trains, he still has some room left to improve. Not only that, but he is strong despite this. He is inherently more powerful than anyone else that he has ever met, evidenced by the fact that at present, Axis remains undefeated in combat. He is brash and arrogant as a result of being undefeated, but more on that later. Right now it is important to know that not only is he undefeated and very powerful, but he is also someone who fights a great deal, if only because he is made to by his leaders. He does not have the ambition to be a leader. Still, if one were to ever apply the word "monster" to anyone, it would be Axis Recio.
Now, as said before, there are two parts to his fighting style. The first is the "docile state." This is what he is like against most opponents who are lower level than he is. The weaker ones. This in itself is divided up into three sub-parts, which he uses against all of his weaker foes when he does not feel like trying, or otherwise is not warmed up at all. Axis is someone who is lazy and slow to get in the game, and so he does need to warm up i f he wants to be at his best. The three sub-parts are swords, Kido, and defense.
The first part of his style is swords. Unlike most Arrancar, or even most combatants utilizing a Zanpakuto, Axis is not trained in using a sword. He is so inherently powerful and skilled that it does not matter if he uses one correctly or not. What Axis has learned how to do is "improvise play" with a sword. From watching others, he knows how to mimic basic defense stances and attack strokes, but that is all that his swordplay is. It's basics. He is not a sword expert at all. However, because he is nothing but basics, he often improvises, making his attacks difficult to read.
His improvisation swordplay style is not sophisticated. It is simply a series of loosely connected, poorly aligned movements. He is well timed in all of his attacks, but for the most part his swordplay is barbaric and does not have any real finesse to it, nor any true skill. It may be sufficient in combat against a weak opponent who cannot even try to get through the other powers that Axis uses, but it is nothing against the likes of Kuroi Naito or even lesser sword masters. Axis does not specialize in using his blade. He is not trained in it, and has not bothered to learn it. He is so strong that he has gotten by even without it.
The only really, truly unique thing to Axis's sword play is his ability to mix it in with his techniques. Axis is a master at blending his movements together seamlessly, and creating high level combination attacks. Therefore, when he fights, his swordplay seems far more skilled to the untrained eye than it really is, especially in conjunction with his impressive skills from other facets of attack. Especially impressive is his masterful footwork, which comes not from swordplay, but from another part of his fighting style to come later. Axis has also been known on more than one occasion to be one who swings around his sword on a chain.
Before that, though, next we'll move onto Kido. Also unlike most Arrancar, Axis is among the few, the chosen. As an Escudo, and even moreso as a Zarpa, Axis is capable of using Kido, a Soul Reaper's gift. His mastery of it's use is astonishing even to the most well trained and skilled of Soul Reapers. Unlike the other Zarpa, who simply use Kido as the Soul Reapers do, Axis has mastered it and made it his own. Most are surprised by how skilled he is at manipulating it, and this has given him a variable edge against his opponents. Oftentimes, Axis is seen actually shaping or playing with Kido, as opposed to most who just fire them as intended.
In particular, Axis is known to have modeled himself after two Soul Reapers. The first, Hiro Kaname. The second, Taien Hadohou. Axis's Kido focus primarily on electric/lightning effects and complex combinations. His study of Soul Reaper records when he was a younger Hollow led him to discover many possibilities in the art of Kido. Subsequently, when he became actually able to learn them, he seized the opportunity and mastered their power. He is even more skilled with his Kido than most Soul Reapers are. Axis himself cannot believe that they have access to such a power and do not take full advantage of it.
Axis is particularly lethal when using elemental Kido, which are the most common type. They are often underestimated, but not when used by Axis. Then again, maybe people will always be more on their guard anyways against an Arrancar that can use Kido, since that should be a power reserved only to Soul Reapers. It's worth remembering, however, that it is indeed only a Soul Reaper's gift. It is almost as if it is a borrowed power. Axis is a master of using it, however it is not even close to his own most powerful gifts. This is why it is in his "docile state."
The last part of Axis's "docile state" is his defensive capability. Using Kido and his Arrancar gifts, Axis has extremely high level defensive capabilities which allow him to take on even the strongest enemies and be rash and stupid. Not only does he have several layers of different Hierro techniques, but he can employ them in long range or in close range and still be extremely effective against his opponent. These defenses allow him to be lazy and take hits if he wants to.
Not only can he take hits because of his multiple layers of Hierro, but Axis has been known to become extremely lazy in any fight where he is in his "docile state." Sometimes, he will just give up out of boredom and go to sleep in the middle of the fight. Opponents might attack him while he is asleep, but it is all useless so long as his mighty defenses are erected. However, it's more than his Hierro. Axis has several other powers which help him with his defensive.
He has his own Zarpa Hierro, which helps, but also has a half technique which he calls "lazy dodging." This is where Axis uses his amazing sense of timing and his skill to dodge an attack in such a way that he avoids physical contact with it, but so narrowly that it appears to phase through him. He shifts his body very slowly, deliberately, and slightly. In fact, some could even swear that they actually do hit Axis, but that it goes through him and there is no effect. In reality, Axis is just dodging the attacks that are coming at him.
"Enough. Honest combat just isn't for me..."
That quote is the one that should make you shit yourself. That's the one to be afraid of. Remember how Axis has two parts to his fighting style? The first one is his "docile state." The second one is his "free form." In other words, it's when Axis stops restraining himself and actually tries a little. It's when he fights. He doesn't stop holding back, but he does give far more to the fight. It isn't even that he tries harder. Rather, it's that he loosens up and stops restraining himself. One could argue he has to try harder in his "docile state" to hold back as much as he does. The scary part is that during free form, Axis, who is rusty, continues to reclaim his former prowess, and thus gets more powerful as the fight progresses.
In his "free form" Axis employs a host of other techniques. However, what is most memorable is that this is his true fighting style. The other one is "practiced" or "borrowed." It's fake. It's a mask. This is his real style. What is most important to know is that he employs "dirty fighting." He plays dirty and never plays fair. This is unsophisticated, barbaric, unpredictable battle. In other words, street as opposed to societal. Axis's style is about being unpredictable, because he more or less improvises as he goes along. His "free form" is divided itself into five parts. Arrancar techniques, Hakuda, footwork, release state, and levity.
Start with the first part, Arrancar techniques. Remember that Axis is not a traditional user of these techniques. No, Axis has a lot more to his style than that. While most Arrancar are content to using their linear techniques, either Cero or Bala, or otherwise custom variations of them, Axis is not content without some kind of original interpretation not of the technique, but of the use itself. In particular, Axis's projectiles are extremely unique. His Cero and Bala come with variety to their properties. Most notably, Axis has shown himself capable of bouncing his Cero and Bala repeatedly and detonating them at will after they have already been launched, as well as making them stick to things. These are but a few of his powers with them.
Beyond that, Axis is also very well versed in the use of Hierro. Adalo De-Mona has Hierro Ultima and Kuroi Naito has Grande Podrido. Much the same way, and almost as a foil to opponents such as this, Axis is known by his comrades to employ several Hierro types simultaneously. Not only is he capable of using these Hierro styles, but he is also able to mix them with his other techniques. Axis is one of the few Arrancar with an offensive Hierro, and also has other sub-variations, such as the poison Hierro, repair Hierro, and even electric Hierro. These variations have made getting into close quarters combat with him a nightmare.
What's more, Axis is able to use all of the Escudo's exclusive techniques. Like with all of his other Arrancar techniques, Axis can manipulate them extraordinarily well. Not only can he direct with extreme precision their targets, but he can even layer them with other techniques as well. It has been said that he is even capable of drawing them into his Hierro, or releasing some of his Hierro into them. No one has fought Axis for long enough to be able to tell for certain if this is true. Few Arrancar are like him. It has been said that he is a monster that comes around only once in a thousand generations.
This could easily be said to be true. After that, he has Hakuda. Axis is the only Zarpa who realized the utility of this Soul Reaper combat style, and to this day admonishes the Soul Reapers for not capitalizing even more on it. What makes Axis especially dangerous is that he has synthesized his own Hakuda moves which are based on what the Soul Reapers use, but are unique to him and him alone, and have taken some of his Arrancar advantages and applied them to the Hakuda. This has made him even more dangerous. He is especially menacing at close range, and this is why.
Axis uses his Hakuda in a different way from anyone else. Like how he uses trickery on his Arrancar techniques, even going so far as to bounce them or make them sticky or pre-detonate them, Axis is able to use his Hakuda in strange ways as well. Most notably, his Hakuda style is dominated by balance and reflect moves. Axis employs Hakuda moves that always keep the opponent at his own pace, working offbalance and off rhythm. He reflects physical strange or deflects it away, and he is often able to keep an upper hand in speed because of dominating the opponent's options and inner space. On occasion, Axis will even play dirty with grabs, locks, certain hit placement, and even using objects and the environment around him. His Hakuda style is not solely Hakuda, but also incorporates everything else about him into the style.
This goes hand in hand with his footwork. Footwork is easily the most important part of Axis's entire style. It links to the rest of his body movements, which are usually unflowing and unsynchronized. Axis has the ability to easily synchronize his movements if he desires, and knows very well how to manipulate them to his best battle situation advantage, but he chooses to keep an irregular pace. He has no specific rhythm, and is constantly changing the flow of the fight. His footwork especially reflects this. It involves a great deal of weaving and confusing motions, as well as odd, unorthodox, and sometimes crude and extremely difficult, flexibility requiring bends.
His feet are almost always in motion when he fights, and his body follows the unpredictable pattern. Axis has been stated to seem faster than he actually is, which is obvious because he is very difficult to predict. In particular, he is extremely agile, capable of instant acceleration into maximum speed from complete standstill, and complete deceleration from maximum movement. He is capable of sudden and instant breaks in his movement, no matter the movement in question, giving him a clear advantage as he has such control that he can even sometimes cut his own momentum, if it is not too far gone. This is still rarely the case. Axis never puts himself in a position where it's impossible to retract, because retracting is included in his unpredictable movement style.
This irregular pacing of his body makes it seem as if he is constantly off balance, which he in fact is not, and also serves to make Axis seem like he is full of openings. In truth, he is not off balance, and there are no openings. He is simply luring the opponent into a false sense of security. They may attempt an attack which would normally work against ordinary opponents. However, Axis is no ordinary opponent. As the most powerful of the Zarpa, he is never truly open. His opponents might make mistakes because he fools them, especially since error judgments are often made when one's space is completely invaded without reprieve. But, it is a mistake to underestimate Axis Recio.
His levity is also an enormous factor. What levity? His battle levity. It is impossible to discourage Axis. No one is more powerful than he is, and he knows that deep in his heart. It is absolutely rooted into him. No matter how tough the situation seems, or how difficult the opponent is, and perhaps as a flaw to Axis as well, he can never recognize anyone as an equal, let alone as a potential superior. No one is more powerful than Axis Recio. This means that it is impossible to discourage him, and no one can ever convince him that there is a chance that he will lose. He will win no matter what from the beginning. It might be slightly more difficult with some people, but he will always win.
Axis has never been defeated. Period. He has never and will never be defeated. Because of his record, he knows that above all, he stands as the only Arrancar to never lose a fight, or at least the only one that is still alive to this day. Since he does not feel that anyone can defeat him, he is able to make very rash moves. He is bolder than most combatants, even when in danger, and is often extremely reckless considering how calculated and experienced he is in combat. However, he has advanced to a point where he doubts there is any potential for fellow spirit beings to take him down, and so any move is a valid one.
There is absolutely nothing that discourages Axis. Not fear. Not depression. Not being in a losing situation. He is able to keep himself in the fight and hit back hard. There is no way to gain an emotional upper hand over him. He can simply power straight through it. The only exception to this is boredom. Sometimes, Axis will be discouraged because his opponent is so weak to him that it is not worth trying. Sometimes he gives up because he gets bored, and then stops and goes to sleep right there. Still, the ability to do that and survive is a testament to his power.
Maybe the worst part of all is that Axis has a super mastery of healing. His healing expertise is unbelievable and through the roof. Off the charts. What does that mean? Axis can do some sick damage. He knows exactly where to hit. Everywhere. Anywhere he hits, he can create an incredibly painful hit, or he can flat out disable enemies because of specific points of their reiatsu flow (which he can shut off, kind of like a gentle fist because healing expertise + Hakuda), and he can neutralize and silence parts of the body. His healing expertise allows him to do some extremely wicked things to the foe's body upon contact.
In fact, in combat, Axis even has the capacity to create small pockets of build-up in terms of blood, puss, and the like, by slamming his body part into a certain body part of the opponent, and manipulating the strike so that the force reverberates throughout the foe, gathering these things into that place. He can then concoct a matching strike upon a second hit to a matching, different location of the body, which will cause the first spot to burst into blood and puss, resulting in great blood loss. Remind you of anything? It isn't unlike Kenryoku Kawada's Ni Higyou. Axis can do those things, and a lot more. Watch out. His healing expertise is something he capitalizes on a huge amount in battle.
However, even when Axis is trying, he isn't actually trying. He fights and uses all of these complex powers, but there is more to him than that. He has an even higher level, and he can become even stronger, still. Axis has what many have referred to as "white blur mode." If going easy is his "docile state" and trying is "free form," then white blur mode is "slightly amused Axis." Slightly amused means that he has released. That is white blur mode. Axis just releases his Zanpakuto. Some might wonder how this makes any difference at all. How could any release ever be so powerful as to make much of a difference when Axis himself is already so incredible?
It makes all of the difference in the world. Axis is not only three or four or five times stronger. Axis is a full ten or more times more powerful! What makes him so powerful in his released state? First, he becomes impossible to fight in close quarters. Because his release makes a physical fight against Axis impossible to execute or win, all opponents will have to turn to alternative measures to fight against him. Unfortunately, and one clue as to when Axis is preparing to release, he sets up the environment beforehand to ensure that even a long range or alternative style fight is that much more difficult for the opponent.
His release is versatile, and allows him to fight in both short and long range fights. Not only does it make Axis a monster to fight, but it also reduces his one weakness to nothingness. More important than anything else, Axis can fight without even budging during his release. Normally, though powerful, Axis cannot fight for extended periods of time. Longer fights are difficult. He is so powerful that he wins fights quickly, and so he isn't used to extended engagements. He tires easily. During his release however, he can fight without even moving, which allows him to waste almost no energy on the fight. He can fight for much longer in his released state.
Perhaps the worst of it however is what Axis's release is designed for. It is designed for annihilation of any scale. He can erase anything from the battlefield if he wishes to. His release is also the best match for the special power of the Decima/Cero Espada, Cain. Only one person living today has ever seen Axis's release, that being one of the two Mozo Leaders. Besides them, no one has ever seen it, but one more, a fellow Zarpa, has seen the aftermath left behind by it. There is no one that cannot attest to Axis's might. He has a power which is truly rare. The strongest Zarpa, and perhaps the most powerful Arrancar.]

-Powers-
Fighting Style: ["You're boring me."
