Saddened by Kento and Jazz leaving, I find myself at a crossroads. As far as roleplaying, I have felt the same frustrations as both of those players. It's tempting to leave. I trust even without me, the forum could run itself at this point. I am temporarily suspending the making of new threads for myself. However I have decided that even without two of our veteran players, I am willing to consider trying to find my muse again. I am also willing to take on a limited Dungeon Master role again, for those who have incomplete threads as a result of Kento's departure. Send me a message if you require me as a Dungeon Master. As for my muse, it may come. It may not. Until then, I am here.
On to business. Without neither Kento nor Z, we do not have a resident "expert" on the system at large. A lot of it requires some interpretation, but there is, overall, a correct way to interpret. Until we have someone more up to speed the way Kento and Z were, you can leave ruling concerns here in this thread, and I will answer them publicly so as to make record of them and incorporate them officially into the rules.
There are a few things I was asked to look into first, which prompted this message.
Number one. Moderators. Of mod candidates Asmo, TV, Mou, Sana, and Smith, here are my thoughts.
TV - I have heard that TV has moderator authority in the discord. This is sufficient. TV does not have the comprehension of the system nor the experience to stand in as a moderator, and would not presently be able to properly fulfill duties such as grading, DMing, and canon plotcraft. TV has good temperament, but for the moment does not have my recommendation.
Mou - Mou has been here a long time and seen and remembered many rulings. Mou once suffered from being insufferably nitpicky, but has since shown radical improvement. However, Mou still lacks both temperament and a wider comprehension of the system as a whole. Mou would be good for grading powers, but not for interpreting rules. Therefore Mou has a partial recommendation as a grader, but not as someone who can interpret rules.
Sana - Sana has been here longer than any of the other candidates, but has far less roleplaying experience overall. She would not be able to rule well in grading, rule interpretation, PVP disputes, or canon plotcraft. However it has been suggested to me that she is a good organizer. Sana does not have my recommendation as a grading type mod, but she would be an excellent organizational mod and has my recommendation for that.
Smith - Smith has a great temperament and a rather balanced view of powers. Though lacking some fundamental system knowledge, Smith seems to be someone who would do very well as a mod. I do not believe Smith should have the power to resolve PVP disputes, but having Smith as a grader and an interpreter of rules would be advantageous, and Smith has my recommendation.
Asmo - Though I have been told otherwise, my opinion of Asmo since I last saw his mod work remains unchanged. It is my belief that Asmo does not have the temperament or the systematic knowledge to serve any of the mod functions. He does not have my recommendation.
Onto existing moderators. John, Kyo, ZK, Bo.
It is my belief that this is a strong team. All four are extremely level-headed, and are perfect for mod duties. Kyo has been around a long time, having worked very closely with both Z and Kento, and is more than capable of grading, understanding much of the system, and settling disputes. He is also excellent for plotcraft. John, while less experienced, is more than capable of stepping up and cooperating, and would also be exceptional at plotcraft. ZK has had extensive contact with Kento, which in turn has helped him grow into someone who can grade, interpret, and create good stories and characters. Bo has had some trouble with socializing with people, but I have been told that he has made great strides, and is very fair.
Here is my recommendation for how to divide things.
I believe Smith and Sana should be brought onto the mod team. Graders should be Bo, Smith, John, ZK, Kyo, and the 2/2 system put back in place. I will also use 1/1 powers to assist.
ZK and Sana should take exclusive charge of the twitter, which Kento has the password to.
Sana should be the head for organizing and aesthetics, consulting Kyo or myself for this.
Smith and ZK should handle most of the rule interpretations, with feedback from me.
Kyo, Bo and John should headline plotcraft and PVP disputes.
Ultimately, Kyo should not be the "leader" or "head mod," the way Z or Kento would have been, as his work schedule is hectic. Instead there should be no such mod, but Kyo is final consultant on most things, unless people want to come directly to me.
Do not forget that this thread also serves to ask me for rule interpretations. That brings me to my next points.
Number two. Super durability resulting from a high strength stat. This does not grant resistance to or immunity from heat damage or overheating. That interpretation is ridiculous.
Number three. Ken vs Lack of Fear. Lack of Fear at a 3 is helpful against Ken and would allow the character to still fight, but Ken is a technique that pushes out an intimidating aura of artificially created fear. It is impossible for Lack of Fear to entirely negate Ken. The character using Lack of Fear can still fight but will not be without hesitation or fear, unless also using Ken to counteract its effects. The same applies to Strength of Will. The best skill for overcoming Ken is actually Damage Recovery, which would also be able to assist in recovering from emotional damage that results from interacting with Ken.
Number four. If Discord is going to continue to be used, moderators need to create a suggestion on how to better integrate it into the site. A dead chatango does not look good to prospective members, and it is clear that there is no reverting to chatango.
If there is a need for any further ruling, let it be posted here and I will reply by actually editing the message and inserting my opinion into it. That just keeps things cleaner.
