Yet more rumors reached the lake. Rumors of yet another beast that wandered the wilderness of the Rukongai. Surviving alone against the wilds and monsters that dwelt within them. Yet again he felt the compulsion to seek the creature out in hopes to learn something new about himself. In hopes of gaining something. Once again the stories came from passing Shinigami. They told tales of a ferocious monster further out in the wastes. These were stories they'd heard as well, from other Rukongai spirits that had encountered the monster. Umaroth, in curiosity and boredom, decided to head out to try and find the creature. He only had a direction. He didn't have an exact destination. All he knew was the direction to start walking.
The dark scaled reptile pulled himself from the murky depths of his lake late at night once the preparations had been complete. His tail dragged itself effortlessly through the mud. Feathers dripped with lake water. A collection of fish was tied, with a cord through their gills, around his shoulder. What looked to be a rudimentary canteen was resting on the shore, looking to have been made from hardened mud. Umaroth had built it himself. He'd seen the things that the humans drank from when they needed to travel and spent some time creating one himself. It was...poorly made. Certainly not beautiful to look at. Lumpy and disproportionate as it was. But it stored the water he needed, and even had a lid.
With his food and drink he set off. He chose to set off at night so the darkness was on his side. His food would not decay as quickly and the suns heat wouldn't bother him as badly. He had no idea how long this trip would be, exactly. But he at least wanted to try and find this rumored beast. The night, a day, and yet another night had passed since Umaroth had begun this trip. He'd run out of fish, unsurprisingly, and thankfully was able to find ample game to feed on. Wasn't often he got to feed on the forest folk. He really did love the taste of venison. So much so he was actually carrying with him the back end of what remained of the doe he'd caught.
He was carrying it for extra food when he needed it, plus the idea of using the scent of bloody meat to draw predators out came to mind. If this beast was carnivorous then there was a chance it would come running to the smell of Umaroths catch. Taking a drink of water, Umaroth came to a pause when he finally cleared the forest and stepped out onto an open field. This...seemed like a good place to rest. Scanning the enviroment and the tall grass, he found a rock situated beside a growing tree. Plenty of shade for a relaxing snack. Placing his scaly butt down on the rock and tearing off a leg from the doe, he began chowing down on the meat to regain his strength and stamina. What he didn't know, though, was that he very well just might have stumbled into the creature he was searching for's territory.
