It was snowing this Friday in the land of Seireitei. It was her least favorite time of year seeing it reminded her of her mother's death. Angel had been accepted into her squad of choice and had been standing with her fellow new Shinigami in a auditorium awaiting someone to greet and introduce them. Angel sat with a sigh and felt a little bit claustrophobic with all these people around. The captain was coming to talk and address these people she heard so she would slowly stand and walk down one of the lanes. Luckily she was near one or the edges of the seats so she was able to leave easily enough through one of the sliding doors of the barracks auditorium. She took a deep breath in and released her breath in a huff. She walked out to the edge of the wood floor before sitting down and looking outward into the snowy skies. ‘Hikari Nisei? What are you doing out here right now?’
She held her Zanpakutou in her lap as her coal black eyes shined in the cool white sky. She leaned her head against one of the wooden support pillars before she thought about the academy and how she reached this point. All the hard training, the time that was spent, the hard work...she finally was a Shinigami like she wanted. She didn't have to spend her live in servitude as a handmaiden and she was free to make her own decisions as a young lady. For the first time she felt like she knew the meaning of the word freedom. She took several deep breaths of fresh air before smiling to herself. Today was too good of a day to be sitting around inside of a building and listening to speeches. She wanted to get a nice little workout going on while the day was still young. She wanted to get stronger and improve on her own while everyone else in there was busy talking or whatever it was they would be doing. She decided to look around for something to train on in the wide expanse that was the barracks. She was not disappointed by the things she saw. Several dummies albeit the older ones stood in the snow and Angel decided to take advantage of the opportunity.
She wasn't officially inducted yet into the squad and so she would train without breaking the dummies in front of her. “Well...now to get training.” She approached one of the more complex dummies, one with arms with bumps of steel that rotated when it was struck. This was something that would be perfect to test her martial arts. As humans were creatures that sought patterns she would analyze the movements of this training dummy. “Hiyah!” First starting with an inward thrust of an open palm, she slammed her hand into her inanimate foe near the torso. The arms responded in turn by launching an arm spiraling to hit her head and one aimed for the mid section. She reacted by raising her left arm to block the arm above her and raising her knee to block the second arm. They were easily repelled as they returned to their position with the child slamming her right leg into the mid section yet again. It was a cycle of hit and block although unlike the dummy, she got tired over time. Her movements were getting sluggish.
They say one should know how to use their body before knowing how to use the blade. She can acknowledge that as wise words seeing the blade may only be used as well as the user's body is. She felt a wooden arm slam into her left cheek as she stumbled and felt another strike slam into her stomach. She fell to the floor as she released several deep breaths into the air. It's been about ten minutes since she's done this. The snow was cold and it cooled her hot body. She laid against the floor and brushed her arms backwards and forwards in the snow before slowly standing. There was no use in exercising unless you could feel that burn. Unknowingly, the young girl left a snow angel in the white frozen water. She stood and then coughed as she rubbed the snow off of her clothes. Little did she know that there was a person watching her in the distance.
She had most likely twenty minutes before the captain would arrive. She drew her katana next as she spun the blade twice in her left hand. It was comforting to have a weapon that she could use in the heat of battle although she had to practice with it to reach that level of efficiency. She swung it once diagonally with a graceful motion. She crouched and slashed downward from a motion of shoulder to hip before sweeping her right foot in the snow and twisting to deliver a horizontal slice at the midsection. Sitting around wasn't really Angel’s style as she enjoys the bustle and hustle of society. She was the only one out there so she'd like to believe and so she could be alone without being stared at. One could say she looked young...very young in appearance although that wasn't the case. Fourteen and with coal black hair and eyes. With pale skin, one could perhaps say she looked awfully like a Kuchiki by outward appearance by her rough rigid stance and her demeanor.
Her face was emotionless as she was someone hiding her heart within the snow. What was she really doing out here right now? Why wasn't she with the other Shinigami in the auditorium? Angel looked again to the sky before taking a long sigh releasing her breath into the air again. She then clenched her left hand around her blade. She hated the winter time so why was she in the snow? It didn't matter really in the end as she was out here and she was training. Nothing better to do anyways. She would head in whenever the captain showed up. For now, she had time to waste and better things to do. No better time than the present.
It was a time of year known as Christmas although she didn't know that. She didn't even know what Christmas was seeing she was rather naive and spent her whole life growing up in the Soul Society. Christmas wasn't something she was interested in anyways. There was no time to rest when she needed to be so much stronger in order to be the best Shinigami possible. The Soul Society always needed strong Shinigami to replace the fallen and to take initiative in the wide and expansive world that they lived in. She was going to be one of those hopefully in time.
