So I was looking over things and it never occurred to me before but....what exactly is the equal benefit of not going Giga? For almost every branching race, there is a benefit to each choice. For Beast clan the choice is intellect and a zanpakuto or being more feral and powerful yaseishin. Woth Akki there are varying levels of release capability balanced with sp vs regen and release levels. However with mod souls it seems a bit of a stacked situation. At the giga side not only do Mod souls get a real form, 100 extra sp, and access to very powerful techs but they also get the mod soul equivalent of a bankai. So I was just curious if there was any particular reason for this?

It comes from the main difference. As Giga have real bodies, they are fully hit by any injuries in DP/DE. As for nonGiga, they have a Gigai, artificial, fake body, that is easy to replace. So, short of being killed by your pill destroyed, you are practically immortal. Got arm cut off? Replace Gigai. Leg? Replace Gigai. Head even? Replace Gigai! Also, want to look like somebody else? Use a different Gigai! Or hell, you must go on a real deal stealth mission? No problem, just move yourself to plushie form for that thread! See? Versatility. So, imo, it is also a dilemma. Get more combat power vs get versatility and (pseudo)immortality.

Yeah, but both versions get hsr, so the non-Giga is even better still in terms of survivability. Sure you have to spend some sp now, but that still makes non-Giga the better option, imo. Though now that I think about it, wouldn't Hsr negate a fair amount of the drawbacks that the Giga-techs cost, seeing as they mostly destroy your body?

This is true NonGigas get survivability, but this becomes a losers situation. If you think you're going to lose, nongiga is best. If you are confident, Giga would be better because you are stronger and less likely to be injured in the first place. But the fact is that Regular mod souls are only centralized. If theyre stabbed in the head they still lose control of their gigai. But the fact is that there is such a SHEER power difference when going to giga. Seven levels of release-level power, a bunch of techniques, and sp that nongigas honestly could really use. If any of these bonuses were singularly the benefit Id be fine, but it seems a little steep that all three are included. Also hsr would curb but not completely eliminate the drawbacks
