Training for TTP
Angel lay in the training ground of Squad 7 reflecting on her current skills and how to improve them. Recently accepted into the squad and one of the most youthful members, she had thought of the skill sets she would need in order to properly do her duties. She was in the squad meant to maintain order within the Seireitei, and so she decided that she needed to be at tip top proficiency in order to do the job well. So far, she would say that she was extremely average in most every way. She lacked experience, power, and everything that made a Shinigami strong in her opinion. However, she did have large dreams and determination to make those dreams realities. “I suppose the first thing I should do is my workout. One’s body must be as fit as the mind after all. Oh my god...I sound so cheesy saying something like that. I don’t care how true that statement was.” The young girl had rolled backwards slightly before kicking up off the ground onto her feet as she straightened out her uniform and Asauchi on her side.
Running off into the training grounds, she had found several Shinigami talking or training. She was the shortest of them all it seemed and the youngest looking also. The child narrowed her eyes as she looked into the area to see a training dummy currently not being used. It would do for her at least until she made some friends to train with. She had walked up to the plain and blank training partner for her to work with. She had decided to practice her martial arts, the common art of Hakuda. She had found it interesting that this was not a single martial art but a fighting style made of many other martial arts. It was designed over centuries and was made to fight against many types of opponents. She was an average practitioner, but she hoped to grow better in the stances as she practiced more and more. She didn't expect to become one of the masters of the art, but she at least wanted to be decent in the skill.
She had delivered a swift crunched knuckle to the wood of the dummy before swiftly pulling back and delivering a sharp elbow to the chin of the dummy. The martial art she used could not afford to lose movements, and so she used precise strikes to disrupt one's concentration. After the elbow had been delivered, she had pivoted off of her right foot to spin behind the dummy delivering a backhand with curled fingers into the wooden figure. The figure of course did not cry out in pain or agony, but she sure felt it as the dummy had a Hierro of its own it seemed. Perhaps it would have been a better idea to get something to wear on her hands to prevent splintering and blunt damage. She shook her fist to shake the sensation from her right hand.
She had focused her body as she had delivered a quick jab to the dummy with her left hand before allowing her right leg to take a high kicking motion straight into the neck of the wooden dummy. She had then continued the motion of force pushing her leg against the neck of the dummy trying to make make it fall. Unfortunately, she wasn't near strong enough and so she had lowered her leg before barraging it with medium force blows. She had aimed an upward palm for the chin, elbow to the stomach, chop to the neck, a dual palm strike to the chest, and she finished with a strong punch to the jugular. It was no fun fighting with an opponent that didn't move, react, or fight back. She decided to train around an hour or so with the dummy, and by that time her fists and legs ached. They asked her to stop, and so she acknowledged. She had other things to train in of course.
She had first taken out one of two new books she had recently purchased. One was a book that listed the basics of Kido, their theories, and instructions on how to cast them as well as their incantations. One of the ones she found detrimental to learn as a member of the enforcement squad was Sho and Sai. They were known to be the weakest of all the Kido as well as the most basic, but she found learning them would be worth it. The book was a small black text and divided the spells it held from Hado then to Bakudo, and the final section was Kaido. She would make it a challenge for herself to become a skilled practitioner in the spiritual arts as well as the martial. So now, she would open the basic page and read the introductions to Sho.
Sho was in the book labeled one of the most powerful yet simplistic techniques one may learn amongst the long list of Kido. It was a oppressive force meant to be a powerful defense and offense in many situations. She had been planning on learning this new skill, but then it seemed fate had other plans as a taller male had stood over her blocking the harsh sun from her body. “Ey kid. Aren't you a little young to be a Shinigami?” She had closed her book marking it with a string bookmark before calling in return, “I don't know. I don't see many other Shinigami or people my age at all. Does age really even matter as Shinigami?” The man made a “Tch” noise as he pointed his thumb to his chest. “My name is Morino Sasami. I just wanted to welcome you to the squad newbie with a friendly training spar gaki.” A friendly training spar at the moment interested her seeing she could use the exercise. “My name is Angel. It's a pleasure to meet you sir. I would like a spar very much thank you.”
She had behaved as what her nickname was, like an angel. She had stood a fair distance away from the older man who appeared he was in his fifties or so. In each of their possessions were wooden Bokken to spar with. There would be no spiritual abilities allowed in this battle other than the Shunpo. She had bowed politely as did the other fellow before they looked at each other's eyes and would then both vanish from sight clashing their Bokken together with loud clacks. They both pushed against them, and from his size and weight he pushed Angel back slightly before she placed her right behind the blade to push it in a standstill. “Not bad little girl.” She had then at that moment pushed her blade farther into the air before moving her leg outwards and sweeping it towards the back of her opponents followed by a push to the chest. The man had fallen backwards, but quickly rolled backwards onto his feet with a smirk. “You can do so much better I hope.”
She held her hand up before she lowered the Bokken. “Excuse me sir, but as much as I would like to continue the spar, I do have other types of training to do. I don't have copious amounts of time to waste you see. I was planning on training in my Kido before you came.” The man looked at her with interest before he too lowered his weapon. “Well, which ones do you know kid? I could probably help you learn one or two.” Angel had decided to be truthfully honest and just reveal what skills she had in her arsenal. “I had learned Hado#4:Byakurai, and had learned Bakudo#9:Geki. I'm now seeking to learn Hado#1:Sho. I was about to read about it from this book I have here. Suppose you could give me pointers on how to use it?” Perhaps she had just made a friend within the squad, her first.
The man shrugged as she opened her book to the next page in it. She had read the most basic description that the book had to offer that Sho was literally Reiatsu gathered as a force to push whatever the fingers were aimed at. It was explained that the more pressure built behind it, the greater the force. The young girl had nodded as she would recite the incantation to herself a few times to make sure she had it down. She had to get stronger by any means necessary, and she would start by utterly dominating this Kido. Reciting the brief incantation, muttering it under her breath, she had gathered the Reiatsu she wanted into her fingertips. It would build pressure gradually growing until Angel felt it was enough.
The power released as she aimed her fingers toward the wooden dummy from before. This time, the wooden figure had easily been knocked over as it skid back several feet. She had defeated the training dummy with her spiritual power, but this troubled her as it showed her physical body prowess lacked in comparison to her spiritual ability. The man who promised to give her tips and pointers looked at her confused and puzzled. “I thought you said you didn't know how to use this Kido kid?” Angel had shook her right hand to get the foreign feeling out before she turned to the man. “I didn't know how to use the Kido. This was my first attempt at it.” Her fellow Shinigami looked genuinely surprised as he clapped his hands before speaking again. “I think you got the technique down then.” The man looked at her with wiry little eyes squinted like a gopher. He wasn't very attractive at all, but his spirit and good heart made up for that characteristic. What was next?
Angel remained relatively emotionless although she did blink to the man's claim. Was that how easy the Kido was to cast? Had she really mastered Sho on her very first attempt? That made her silent for a moment before she slowly drew out her Bokken. “I suppose we can continue training then. I didn't expect it to be that easy to use. Let's get back to it shall we.” Hikari or rather Angel had used the Shunpo to blur and seemingly teleport two feet away from her opponent aiming a simple jab to the man's stomach. He had narrowly served to the side to avoid being poked before swinging his blade down vertically down on the edge of Angel’s weapon making it drop to the ground with a clack. Immediately, she stepped back to avoid the assault of her enemy and his swings making sure to stay out of range. She walked backwards step after step, but that obviously wouldn't save her forever. She had to do something and fast. Idealistically, she had to get her weapon back in her possession. The Shinigami in front of her had raised his blade over his head for an overhand swing, and found that she took the opportunity to rush to the attack.
Running towards the man, he had swung as she quickly swerved to avoid the attack. As the swing had been in motion, she had used her right elbow to slam into the throat of her enemy. He was sent backwards coughing and sputtering before a strong high kick had been delivered to the face of her enemy sending him falling to the floor blade lost. Quickly she had leapt over the man before grabbing his fallen weapon and wielding it as if it were her own. The older man groaned, and as he attempted to recover he would soon feel a wooden blade tap his shoulder blade. “Alright, alright you got me brat. I guess you didn't do too badly.” The female grinned before she released the blade holding her sore and aching wounds. “You didn't do badly either Morino-San. Let's work together more sometime.” She held her hand out before she helped the older man up with a slight struggle. He held at his throat and chin before coughing. “Yeah. Let's do that again sometime Gaki, but with me winning this time.” The young girl just smiled a little before she nodded. He had walked off coughing some more as Angel was once again alone.
She had picked her blank Asauchi up from a weapons rack staring at it. She had a lot to grow, and she would have to put a lot of hard work and dedication into it for her to get to that point. She wanted to be someone who would change soul society and really make a difference. She would train long and hard before that would occur most likely, but she had set a realistic goal in mind. The first step was to learn herself some techniques and gain skills to help her on the road to becoming a powerful Shinigami. The second step was to gain friends within Soul Society to help her on her journey to become stronger. The third and most important step she felt was to unlock the power that many Shinigami had failed to.achieve in their whole lifetime, the Shikai. A small majority of the Shinigami forced had accessibility to this power, and even fewer had access to the power known as Bankai. Morino-San was a good person and seemed to be willing to help her, so she would be sure to meet up with him again another time. The man was a bit out of shape by the look of it as he had a small moustache adorning either side of his lips. He was of Japanese descent by the look of it and had slicked back hair. His Zanpakutou was also a Katana by the looks of it, and she partially wondered how long he had been in the Shinigami Gotei 13.
She had decided the next thing she wanted to do now in her isolation was to practice her skill with Shunpo. Her Shunpo was mediocre, but she knew true masters of the technique could go farther distances and with less stamina drain with its mastery. Focusing her Reiatsu into her legs, she focused from getting from one place to another in the shortest number of steps possible. She decided the roof of the barracks seemed generally a fine place to go and train her technique. She had pushed off of her feet vanishing as she appeared on the rooftop of her barracks, although barely as she was nearly about to fall off the edge of the building. “Shibata!” She had circled her arms behind her rapidly before falling forward onto the rooftop tiles. She sighed a anime cloud puff before she wiped the sweat off the top of her head. That was the farthest she had ever attempted to Shunpo before. The first end of the training grounds to the other side of the barracks training ground hall. She succeeded however, but would make sure it was absolutely perfect before she did anything else. She would train herself for the future as to be prepare for another invasion like Kuroi.
She flipped over onto her back looking at the sky to see the clouds were generous. They covered the normally harsh glaring sun and made her feel content. She thought at these times of her mother and their time together albeit the fact she felt it wasn't very long. The young girl had slowly but surely stood onto her feet to see time must have flew by. Most of the Shinigami she had seen had left from the training hall to somewhere else. Using another Shunpo, she had reappeared in the middle of the training field nearly tripping on her face as she was soon to lose her balance. However, she had quickly used her right foot to slide and skid to maintain the balance. She realized immediately one of the most important things she had to do at the moment was maintain her balance when pushing the distance of the Shunpo. It was delicate and could very easily be lost if she was not prepared for the entry with Shunpo. She made note of that as she panted after all her hard works that day. Perhaps she needed a rest. Angel had used Shunpo seven more times around the training ground in quick succession before she would stop exhausted and out of stamina. She was abusing herself maybe.
Hikari stumbled extremely thirsty as she fell facedown. She was too tired to think at the moment. Her face was red and she was dying or so it felt like. What she would do for a nice cool refreshing drop of wat-. A splash of water hit angel as she had looked up to see her friend Shinigami with a bamboo container of water. “Gaki. You know it's lunchtime right? It's time to go to the mess hall and fill your stomach.” The girl looked up and slowly nodded. “Noted Morino-San. I just...need five minutes. I can't feel my legs, or my arms, or my face.” The fellow scratched his head a second before suddenly grabbing Angel and placing her on his back beginning to walk. She was confused on why in the world he would so something like this, and so she opened her mouth to protest. “Morino-San? What in the world are you doing right now?” Then the man turned around to look at her over his shoulder as if she were stupid. “I'm carrying you to the cafeteria of course! They have good food today!” Angel at the moment was conflicted at what she should do as he walked until she thought of a clear choice.
She raised a finger to him and called, “Bakudo#9:Geki.” A red beam of light had paralyzed him in place with him standing still for several seconds as she climbed off his back. The paralysis soon wore off as the young girl stretched. “Gomenosai Morino-San, but I insist that I can take care of myself. I really appreciate your help however. Sorry again. Sorry ten times.” The man didn't look mad more than he did puzzled. “Alright I guess, but seriously you should just tell me next time. I would have let you down if I thought you could handle yourself.” Angel nodded and bowed her head before the two of them walked off to eat. The meal turned out to be Teriyaki Chicken with rice and other entrees available. It was delicious and she loved it so much she went for seconds and contemplated thirds. Morino went for seconds and thirds, but she restrained herself. She decided she got a good bit of work done today with her physical training although made note she would have to beef up on it to get better. She had decided to stop by Squad 4 briefly to get healed and then to rest.
Later after her stop to the medical division, she had been sent back to the barracks with a peppermint in her mouth. Seems they were generous to her seeing she didn't see anyone else get the candy on their way out. She laid in her corner of the room before reading her two books far late into the night deciding what she would be training in the next day. She decided Zanjutsu training would be a excellent addition to her skills seeing she sort of needed it in order to progress as a Shinigami. Or at least that was her thought unaware some Shinigami could kill Hollow bare handed and with ease. She removed her reading glasses folding them and putting them away before the light sparks she used from Byakurai for light dimmed out. She slept deeply and wouldn't be woken up for anything. She was overly exhausted and she deserved a good night's rest.
She awoke the next morning with a groan as the birds chirped and called out to nature. She went to the bathrooms, did her business, brushed her teeth, got ready for the day as she tied her hair with a blue silk ribbon. Her hair was silky and smooth rather than the course and spiky most Asians seemed to have adopted. She then took the daily ritual of shining her Asauchi as everyone left to tend to their own devices. After all these daily preparations were complete, she had went off to the Shihoin district to visit a marked grave. This was her mother's grave, and so she had visited it often. She spoke of what she did yesterday and how she hoped her parent was in a better life. She left a burning incense before heading off yet again to the training field barracks. It was time to begin the cycle of training again. She lived like this almost every day of her short existence. However, a difference was that every day she was growing and becoming stronger. She was one step closer to reaching her life goal and mission.
So, the young Kuchiki had continued her training that day slowly but surely gaining progress and power through her efforts. She wanted to be the very best she could be and although she didn't exactly know everything to reach that goal, she would try with what she had. She wasn't too interested in promotions rather than helping people and just being very good at the job of purifying hollow and defending the peace of the Soul Society. She would discipline herself to be one of the great warriors of the Gotei 13 eventually right? Of course she would, she just had to put in the time and the effort and even she would reach that goal at some point.
