Business was bad. That was undeniable truth. Business was bad, and there was little Gaius could do about it. Even Human World was not infinite, and he was running out of options. His business opportunities were severely limited by the fact that he was forced to work alone, at least for the time being, so his choice of targets was limited. Despite being a spiritual being rather than human, Gaius couldn't possibly rob a big bank on his own, and get away with it. His secondary business, which has eaten most of loot from his robberies, was his sword business, which, and despite being quite safe investment and solid business, profits came slowly from that one rather than quickly, and that placed Gaius in a bad spot. He had to do something, and truth to be told, taking contracts was not his thing anymore. Gaius was reluctant to go back to being hitman, even though that would have solved his financial issues. He swore to himself once that he was done with that, and well, he would rather starve than to betray himself. However, being in a tight spot, he moved away from Europe temporarily, and has instead worked in China for the last month or two. It was not good, and basically, economy was real bad if you were a part of spiritual world. Ryo, the spiritual currency, unique, and one of its kind, was only printed out and issued by Soul Society. And they controlled it entirely. With their new monetary reform, Soul Society has sucked in over 90 percent of Ryo that was out there, and what little remained was so insanely deflated that it was a real struggle. A few millions of dollars could only get you a few tens of thousands of Ryo at current exchange rates. It was killing spiritual economy.
And business also went from bad to worse. As Gaius was sitting in a motel room in Karakura Town, with his TV on, and new on the program, he merely sighed. He came to Karakura in order to cut a few deals, perhaps sell some swords, maybe even pull a heist or two on smaller banks. But this, this was insane. Hollow activity went straight through the roof, and Gaius was altogether unsure whether to stay or leave Karakura. If he stayed, he could get more work, as his work flourished in times of crisis, yet he was not sure whether it was smart to stay with increased Shinigami activity as well. But, as he watched news, he heard about attack on city hall. Mayor was supposedly fine, but would it truly be a Hollow attacking mere human? In any case, Gaius would not have to wait for work. Because when business was worst, it was best. His phone lit up. It was ringing, and caller's identity was concealed. Knowing it was often in his line of work, Gaius picked up. While he remained silent, a voice distorted to be unrecognizable was heard on the other side. "Greetings, mister G. I hope I do not interrupt you in anything, but I have an offer for you." For Gaius, this was pure gold. Without hesitation, he responded: "Sure, I'm listening." Voice from the other side explained: "I am merely a representative of a group of influential people that have a common interest. If you are familiar with recent events here in Karakura, you must be aware of this strange increase in Hollow activity. Situation is getting out of hand. My clients wish at least some information on this, and will offer you a blank check if you manage to gather information about the current situation that can lead to its resolution, or if you manage to resolve this altogether, you can expect another powerful boons as a reward. What would you say, Mister G?"
Gaius was quickly calculating risks. But, blank check... That could get him enough of human money to get his hands on enough Ryo to cover everything he needed entirely. And Gaius and his goals needed quite a bit of funding. Simply put, this was too good to pass. His response was quick. "Yes." Voice on the other side then told him: "Perfect. On completion of your task, dial 555642709." Then, with a silent click, call was terminated. That left Gaius with a job ahead of him, and honestly, a bad starting position. He didn't know much. So, he had to start learning about the situation more. Only way to do that was to observe it firsthand. So, he put his grey hoodie, and put the hood on, with simple jeans and sneakers, he was entirely incognito. Therefore, he left the room, locked it and left the key at the reception of the motel, and then walked out, to the streets of Karakura. "Now, lets see this madness with my own eyes..."

Kazura was stressed from all the increased spiritual attacks lately. Karakura Town was his home and main base of operations, yet even his company could not assist the Soul Society enough to protect the town from Hollows. Even with the Uzaki Enterprises Defense Network that could detect Hollow activity, his employees were stretched too thin and they couldn't purify the hollows. If they killed them, they risked angering the Gotei 13. If they just detained them, they risked their lives by risking the beasts breaking out and hurting more innocents and themselves. It was all a headache and a hassle...
The attack on the mayor, however, had Kazura perplexed and curious. From what he knew, the mayor wasn't a spiritually aware human, so he should have been seriously hurt or worse... but instead, the hollow had been destroyed. This was definitely worth investigating. Kazura's first order of business was to look out for any formal dinners or parties that were going on that would include the mayor and if that failed his second option would be to simply show up at the mayor's office but dressed in a battle suit and helmet. He'd either blend in socially or mask himself and appear uninvited... Both were risky, but he had to get to the bottom of what was going on in his town...
