{Introductory Soundtrack}
The note on the door read “Gone tracking Forbidden Kidou in the Wilderness”. For all intents and purposes, the note could have just said “Gone”. The Kidou corps knew what to do in these instances. The Vice Commander took over training, the Third Seat took over paperwork, and everything went on like nothing was going on. There had been whispers in the Gotei 13 about the Kidou Corps Commander who was infrequently around, but the lips of the Kidou Corps members were sealed. They knew exactly why their leader went off on his own for days, weeks, even months at a time sometimes.
He was hurting.
In his soul he felt an ever growing aching. Years of prolonged and rigorous training were wearing down on him. He felt like he needed to become something more than he was, he had always felt that way. From the day he arrived in the Soul Society, no memories to hold on to, he knew that he needed to be better. And the day that Sozen took him in to his Noble Family, and made him something important, his life had become under such intense scrutiny that it started to drive him mad. Every day his every action was nitpicked.
”The non-blooded Kuchiki isn’t worthy of the name” they’d say, often behind his back but even more often to his face. While Sozen could stop some of the remarks, and rebuke the other family members for it, the emotional scars still left small scabs on Kyomei’s heart, never fully healing. While his cheery outward demeanor never showed the pain in his heart, even to himself most of the time, it still hid back in the subconscious, the most dangerous part of the brain. Sometimes at night, tears would come to his eyes from a source that he didn’t understand.
Then he would wake up, forgetting about the whole thing. Each new day had to be challenged as if it was a mountain. That was the only way that Kyomei could earn the Kuchiki name. And he labored onwards, pushing towards the top of each crest that turned out to be only the beginning of a taller mountain. Each day he had to press on towards a goal that would never end. Eventually, the slope would become so high that he would fall back to the ground, a nameless nobody with not even a memory to hold on to…
Kyomei’s recent experiences in the Ogatago base and in the failed Las Noches invasion only served to break him further. He had stared Hell in the face, been subjected to all manner of psychologically crippling horrors, and seen innocent lives torn apart, only to come up against Luci… the Devil himself. The encounter with the Lord of Hell had scarred the Shinigami beyond reckoning. His brain chemistry permanently altered, broken even, he had to relearn how to function with the distraction of seeing sounds.
If that hadn’t been enough, the Kidou Corps Commander had warily decided to join the offensive against Las Noches, searching for a gem thought to be able to turn Hollows into Arrancar. It could potentially have been used for so much more evil, the Soul Society decided it was in their best interests to collect or destroy the artifact to keep it out of the wrong hands. But the attack went horribly wrong. While most of the invaders limped their way out through the portal, Kyomei had to be carried out by his cousin Iro who showed up as a rescue party when things went south.
Recovering from that had been rough, and truthfully… Kyomei had yet to fully recover, and he probably never will. Even the simplest of techniques that used to come easily to him now caused him physical pain. While over time he had gotten used to the smaller amounts of pain, some of his favorite Kidou hurt him too much to make it worth it. And trying to mix and match and experiment with new Kidou fusions just increased his pain for every add on he tried to bring into the mix. This resulted in a very depressing time in the Kidou Corps Commander’s life, one where he retracted from the world to bathe in Sekki Sekki infused water to drown out everything.
He had decided that enough was enough. He was going to get out of the house, out of the Seireitei, and just go somewhere, anywhere. He left a note, and he left the barracks. ”The last few years have been Hell, sometimes literally… How far do I have to fall down before I find solid ground to stand on again?” At the edge of the Rukongai, Kyomei didn’t hesitate. He didn’t look back, didn’t pause, and certainly didn’t shed any tears. For all he knew, he was never coming back, never returning to the pain and the burdens of Nobility and Leadership.
With a Shunpo, he was gone from even the Gotei 13’s far reaching sight.
{Confrontration Soundtrack}
Birds and other woodland creatures scattered as a small clearing became a very large clearing, uprooted trees being thrown backwards with absolutely immense force. ”Surasorutoiera!” In the middle of the air, they suddenly started to move faster, being pushed with even more force which sent them on a collision course with even more foliage which cracked and fell under the weight of trees being picked up and thrown at them. Landing gently on the ground with another short burst of Sho, the tree wrecker calmed down enough to see what he had done.
His Kidou had torn a football field worth of trees up and turned them into little more than lumber. But it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t enough pain. Kyomei was in hysterics, a mental breakdown if you will. He’d barely made it a mile out into the Wilderness before he had broken down, tears pouring from his eyes. His home, all he knew, all he had memories of… He was fleeing from it all. The Commander kept going for mile after mile after mile until he was lost himself, not just lost to the Seireitei. It was there that he cracked, seeking the physical pain to try and make the emotional pain less significant.
So far he had only managed to hurt himself as if he had been stabbed, and it just wasn’t enough. He had to go bigger. Picking up a stone that had resisted being flung by his Area Thrust, the Kuchiki dug it into his hand, drawing blood. "An eye for an eye, A tooth for a tooth. Evil to fight evil. Fire to fight fire.” He knew that this was going to hurt, but he didn’t care. He wanted the pain, no needed it. ”Hath withstood pain to create many flames of vengeance. And yet, those ephemeral works of art will never be remembered. I hereby offer my blood in an indestructible contract with the flame of atonement."
Fire. Black and red flames spewed out of the Technique Masters hands, soaring into the sky, gouging out the dirt, lighting the forest on fire. All the while, Kyomei was cackling as the pain of sunburns spread across his entire body. When he had his fill, he collapsed to the ground, gasping for air. His sanity slowly returned to him as his body ached and throbbed. Hurting myself won’t change anything… I’ll still be this way, and unless I die it won’t ever stop… The man wasn’t contemplating suicide, but for the first time it had been registered as a potential option…
Kyomei was almost steady on his feet when he felt himself blasted away, hit squarely in the back by something he couldn’t sense. Troubled, the Shinigami spun around to face the assailant, though he could see no one. There was not any sort of movement in the toppled trees, no reiatsu presence, no one to be seen… Puzzled for a moment, the Kuchiki searched the horizon once more before he was again thrown from his feet by an explosion, this time from the front of him. He could feel something strike his stomach before exploding, sending him flying back into one of the trees he had previously uprooted.
Welling up reiatsu, Kyomei cast a fusion of Surasorutoiera and Gouzen Demizu, sending waves of water pouring over the clearing and surrounding areas outwards from Kyomei as a focal point. This tactic seemed to work, as someone came floundering out from behind a tree trying to avoid drowning. The assailant wore a black dress suit, now potentially ruined by the flood of water that had just soaked the entire outfit. What most stood out about the assailant was not his attire, but rather the large glowing bow that he held in his right arm…
A Quincy had found the grieving Kuchiki.

He always wears a pinstripe black suit out of the bedroom, and it’s even rumored that he wears slacks and a tie to bed when he wants to “dress down” to relax and sleep. His short hair is almost completely white, save for a single strand of black hair that falls in front of his face. He wears his heart on his sleeve in that his cufflinks are the emblem of the Vandenreich.
Basic Personality: [The man is ruthless and uncaring, but he hides behind a dry sense of humor and a sing songy voice. If you hear him singing, he probably just finished a successful torture that obtained vital intel and left the victim alive.
Powers Overview:
Knows all Ginto, HWD base techniques, Martial Disciplines, and has a few unique Ginto of his own.
Bow Release Level 1:
Firing Property: “Living” – Lutz’s arrows are sentient. He fires them, but they do not fly straight, rather they drop like a stone to the ground where they run at targets and attempt to impale them. They run at the speed that arrows usually fly through the air. He can give mental commands to the arrows which they will carry out religiously
Mass Property: “Fervor” – When preparing his bow to fire, Lutz can summon an additional arrow to the bow per line of Seine Pracht he quotes. At base, he fires one arrow, but by speaking aloud the holy text an additional arrow is formed. Once the arrows are fired, every line he quotes causes every existing arrow to clone a version of itself two classes weaker. For example, a Class 1 arrow creates Class 3 arrows which create class 5 arrows, etc.
Bow Release Level 2:
Form Property: “Acolyte” – The quincy’s arrows take the form of humanoid creatures with arrowheads for hands. Their stats are based on the Power Property.
Power Property: “Convert” – At base, the arrows have speed equal to the speed at which arrows travel, Strength/instincts/senses equal to 100, and spiritual stats equivalent to Lutz’s. These arrows have the special ability to absorb a technique and convert the heretic technique to the glory of the Vandenreich. The arrow becomes class equal to the technique, gains different stats, and gains powers based on the technique they absorbed. Spiritual stats remain the same, all else changes.
Bow Release Level 3: Not Applicable
Necessary Backstory: [Born to a small Quincy family, Lutz was rescued from poverty by Wilhelm Kohler (aka Baal) and has pledged his life in servitude to the man.
Current Story Status: [As a servant to Kohler, Lutz is often charged with capturing/torturing VIPs for their knowledge. His unique skill set allows him to extract quite a bit from his victims, making him a valuable Vandenreich asset]
