Meeting The Captain

Sylvia would be on her first day of the squad. Meeting her captain, she was asked to report for duty. Sylvia did think what this captain was going to be like. As she thought the captain would be someone who would follow the rules and keep in line. Also wearing their captain's jacket. Sylvia didn't know the person that well, but she has heard about her before. Sylvia was a noble but so was the captain. She was a part of the Kuchiki family. Sylvia thought everyone in that family was strong and powerful, she also thought the males inside that clan. Are cute and good looking. It's something she doesn't let people know.

Her standard Shinigami uniform is a lot like Suì-Fēng. Which has no sleeves and doesn't cover her back, though she does wear long black armbands that stop near her elbows. Instead of wearing the standard Shinigami. Sylvia wears a sleeveless haori and a yellow obi tied around her waist. Sandals with tabi, she wears traditional Chinese shoes with ordinary white socks. This uniform shows her body as it doesn't cover her whole body like the standard robes do. She does find it embarrassing wearing it, but it's easier for her to move and fight in this outfit.

Sylvia would now be walking towards the squad 10 Barracks. Sylvia was looking forward to meeting her captain today. As she would show respect to her, not only because she has a strong role, being a captain, but she was also a noble. Would she think like Sylvia or in another way altogether? Well, only after meeting her. Sylvia would know. Sylvia would now be in the squad ten Barracks. As she walked past the doors, many insides would be training, but Sylvia didn't take any notice of them, as she just walked inside the Barracks.

Sylvia would walk inside but really slowly as she would try to see where the captain was. As she knocked on the door. As she entered inside the room. Sylvia would say her name right away. Saying hello to her captain. "Hello, I was told to come here today. My name is Sylvia Kasumi'Oji. It's my first day in squad ten, and I wish to say hello." Sylvia could see the captain sitting down doing her work, that is why Sylvia would give her time to reply, knowing she had a lot of work that needed to be finished. What would she be like? How would she act? Many questions but only time would tell. Sylvia would stand in place.

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao was enjoying a bit of downtime in her office. Just yesterday, she had received a letter from the Academy, stating that one of the new graduates was heading towards her division. She hadn't gotten any new shinigami in a bit, Arantima being the last new shinigami that had joined her squad. He was off doing this duty, so she hadn't seen too much of the man as of late.

She did notice, in passing, that it seemed that he had gotten stronger, which pleased her greatly. When they fought, she had noticed that he seemed surprisingly weak for someone to have just graduated out of the academy. She had remembered that most graduates would be stronger than him, but he had passed, which meant that he was competent enough to do the duties that the Divisions required. So, she tested him and he didn't perform as well as expected.

She had kept an eye on him and learned he had reached Shikai and it seemed when he used his sword's power for the first time, it awakened the sleeping power within him and he came into the power she thought that she had seen in him before. She was curious to see his Shikai up close, but that would have to wait for another day, when the both of them weren't so busy. She figured that maybe her Bankai would be a nice fight against a newly acquired Shikai, since he had fought her Shikai already.

But, her mind moved to the letter. It said that the new recruit would arrive at her office today and to do what she thought was necessary to see where the new recruit would fit in. She was also told that this recruit is of noble birth, a Kasumi'Oji, which she thought was interesting. This was the first time that she had ever had to deal with a noble in her squad. She had noticed that most nobles kept to their family squads.

She had always figured that was the way most nobles went. Her cousin, Iro, before being promoted to the Zero Division, was the Eleventh Division Captain, so she had gravitated towards that division because she would know someone there. She could have easily went with Sozen's squad as well, but she was always more of a fighter, so Iro's division had just made more sense to her at the time.

Sylvia could've went with the Eighth Division, since that was July's squad, but she decided to become a defender instead of a money counter. She had to give the woman credit to trek out on her own to join a squad where she knew no one. But, they were both nobles and maybe that made her feel a little bit better? Hotaru wouldn't know until she had seen the woman for herself.

After she had received that letter, she had made sure to get the majority of her work done yesterday, so she had enough free time to show Sylvia around. She was curious how the woman would fit in here, but that would be seen soon enough. After she thought about this for a few minutes, she went back to work, filling out more of her boring paperwork. After about another half hour of this, she heard a knock at door, followed by light footsteps walking in.

Hotaru still kept her open door policy, meaning that when her door was open, anyone in the squad could come to her and talk to her. They could talk about work, outside of work things, literally EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. It also meant that her work wasn't so important that it wouldn't matter if she was distracted. If the door was closed, however, the squad knew that the work was extremely important and they needed to wait before entering.

Thankfully, once she told her entire squad that when she first got this position, they seemed to take to it well. Her senior officers visit more than the unseated, but it still makes her feel good to know that they are willing to come to her at all. She then heard the woman speak and it was indeed Sylvia Kasumi'Oji. It was then, when she was done talking, that Hotaru would look over her new recruit.

It seemed that the woman had the same style as she did when it came to shinigami garb. They wore the same kind of kimono. Her body type seemed well proportioned, not too big or small and her frame was about the same, lean but with a little bit of muscle. Hotaru saw a fighter in the making in this girl. She smiled at the woman and stood up, putting her Captain's Haori back on. 

She hoped that the girl wouldn't get too intimidated by her being a bit taller than the girl. She grabbed her zanpaktou and tied him tightly to her waist. The girl seemed bright, which made the Captain happy. She held her hand out to shake the girl's hand and would put it back at her side once she had shaken it. "Hello Sylvia-chan. It's a pleasure to welcome you to my Division. As you can tell, I go by honorifics, which I'm told by my squad makes me an old timer. But, I enjoy them!

I actually come from the time they were used more in full force. But anyway! I'm not staying on topic am I? You can refer to me as Captain, Hotaru-taichou, Hotaru-sama or the same honorifics with my last name. Though, if you use my last name, I would prefer that you use the entire last name and not just the noble house one. It's Kuchiki-Masurao." She looked at the girl kindly and really hoped that she didn't say too much too quick for the girl to not grasp it all.

"Well, now that that's out of the way, I do have one small question to ask you, if you don't mind. Why did you chose this division instead of going to the Eighth Division where July-taichou is stationed? You two are blood relation and I would think you would have a much easier time of things. I myself went to the Eleventh because Iro-sama was stationed there to get my feet wet, so you could just be braver than I was." Hotaru calmly waited for her answer.

Sylvia walked into the office to meet and see her new captain. It was a simple reason Sylvia never joins the same squad as July a member of her own family. Her father was someone the captain might not know. Because his research was never told to anyone outside the family. July is the only man Sylvia has seen her father give any type of respect to, being in his squad would mean being at his side all the time. Which would mean? Her father wouldn't focus on her but on July. Sylvia is a noble, and like most royal family's are never close to each other. Sylvia wished to get her father's attention and then her brother's. She was only close to her mother. Her father's name is Daiji. Her brother is called Ren.

This would be the first noble Sylvia has really got to meet. Sylvia would see her captain stood up, looking towards her, having a smile. Sylvia picks this idea in clothes because it was easy to move wearing them. Even if it was embarrassing. Sylvia would turn a little red as she shakes the captain's hand. "Oh, thank you." Sylvia would think what would be best to call her by, and only came up with one as she turned red. Sylvia did like her new captain. She had her jacket on and looked like someone who fit the title she had.

Sylvia did respect her first new captain and she wished to call her what people would use to give a title to someone they respect. "Is it okay if I call you Hotaru-sama?" Sylvia would say in a soft voice, being shy. Sylvia didn't know who the Maurao family was. Not knowing that her captain was married to a Quincy. Sylvia was asked a question, but she didn't know what to really say. It was not like she didn't like the captain of squad eight, the only reasons she could think is because her father would take more notice of him and herself, and she wouldn't gain his respect in that squad.

Sylvia would have to say what was on her mind. "I don't really know him that well. I know he is the captain, but I just don't wish to be under him..." Sylvia knew the reason, if she was under him, and her father did notice her. It wouldn't because she was doing well. It would all be about July and not her. Sylvia would be bright red thinking what to say. "...Its other reasons I don't what to work under him. I wish to become someone my father can notice, and if I was under July he wouldn't notice me. He would only care what happened to him. I'm sorry it might not sound like a good reason." Sylvia would say looking down still bright red.

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

When Slyvia asked if it was okay if she called her Hotaru-sama, Hotaru would nod in approval. It seemed like the woman was rather timid, which was curious that someone with this kind of demeanor would choose a combat-oriented division. But, looks can be rather deceiving so she tried her best to not judge the woman too harshly before she really got to know her very well.

She then went on to explain why she didn't chose the Eighth Division with July. It seemed that she didn't know the man very well and she wanted to get noticed by her father. It seemed, from what the woman was saying, is that if she went to the Eighth Division, her father would notice July much more than herself. Hotaru then thought that maybe if the woman improved greatly in that division, he would notice.

But, from what she had already said, maybe he would only think that it was because of July she had gotten better? It was a distinct possibility. So, she decided to go to a division that still held a noble, but someone outside of her family. She assumed that way, if Sylvia grew, her father would recognize her own merit for getting stronger and not attribute it to anyone else. An interesting way to approach things and Hotaru approved.

She opened the door to her office, waved Sylvia outside and told her to wait for a moment. Hotaru grabbed the keys to her office and left one of her signs on the door. She locked the office door and led Sylvia away from her office. If she decided to look back at the sign, it would say something along the lines of, "I've left the office on some division matters. I should be back momentarily. If you need anything, get in touch with your seated officers and they will report back to me when I'm back."

While walking with Sylvia, she would point out all of the sections of the Division, showing her where she would be staying, if she had decided to stay in the barracks with the rest of her division. She also let Sylvia know that she didn't have to stay at the barracks. Since she was a member of a noble house, she could stay in her room at her house's main mansion. Hotaru then told her that's what she and most of the other Kuchiki officers did. She only used the bed in her office if she worked too late.

The mini tour of the division ended at the practice ring. There were bleachers on both sides of a huge sand ring, the diameter of the ring being forty feet. Outside of those, there was grass and trees. It looked like a peaceful place to spar and she hoped Sylvia would be up for this. "Well Sylvia-san, this is our practice ring, where you can spar and train on your own. Now, what I have usually done with new recruits is spar with them to see how well they fight. With the last recruit, I used my Shikai against him. So, I'm asking for a spar from you. You choose if I fight you released or not."

Sylvia was not timid she was just shy of meeting her captain. She was strong and powerful, but if you think Sylvia could not handle herself at all. She was wrong. Sylvia didn't wish to know July not one bit, but the chances of her being noticed by her own father were really low. Even if Sylvia was a captain herself. He still might not pay one second of attention towards her. He might use her, but he wouldn't notice. What Hotaru was thinking, is correct. Sylvia wished to train on her own and by herself without anyone in the family getting in the way.

Sylvia was told to wait outside as she would. Sylvia needed to get stronger, but she didn't think this would happen for a while now, but she still trained every day to improve her skills. As she would wait for the captain. Soon later Hotaru would place a sign on the door as it was locked. Sylvia would start to walk with her captain to see the rest of the squad barracks. Sylvia didn't look at the sign as she thought it would say something like the captain was out. Which it did. Sylvia would stay inside her house with her noble family. Not wishing to live inside the squad barracks. Sylvia has not said anything about it yet, but she didn't really show any commoner respect.

She only acted like this because of her father. Because he didn't show anyone attention. Only person she has seen give attention to was July. she acted like this because of him. As Sylvia was walking with her captain, seeing the whole squad barracks. She thought it was a good place to train and to become stronger. Sylvia could tell by looking it was about 40 to 45 feet, and there were also sand and grass. She could see it was a good place to fight, but why did the captain end the showing of the barracks here? Well, Sylvia would soon find out for herself.

Sylvia would hear the captain asking for a spar. Sylvia was not one to give up and back away from a fight. Sylvia would start to walk towards the other side of the ring. Hotaru might notice. That Sylvia didn't make eye contact with people around her, even when she did it was easy to see. She didn't care for them much. It didn't look like she was shy, it was more like she was thinking less of them. Sylvia is a noble and she pull off the image really well. It was a strong chance the other squad members didn't see this as she didn't even see them as worthy to notice. Sylvia was kind but her father did have control over her personality.

As she reached the end of the ring Sylvia would look towards her captain and tell her what she wished to fight. You could see Sylvia was not the same person the captain looked at before her eyes were much colder. Her way of speaking was still soft, but she had a way of talking that was like a leader. "I will fight your Shikai. Hotaru-sama." Sylvia didn't think fighting her captain was a bad idea, but it's something she wished to see the limits of a captain's power. "Hotaru-sama I am sorry to ask, and it could come off as rude, but please don't take it that way. If I win, will you show me your Bankai."

Sylvia wished to see it a captains Bankai the limits of the soul reapers power. Something she would one day gain. Sylvia would say her captain could add something, but with her being the captain, she had command over her anyway. Hotaru could now see that Sylvia was not the timid person she thought. Sylvia would draw her wakizashi. Which she keeps on her lower back, having it inside it's sheathed. Hanging horizontally going down her back, which hangs from a rope. Sylvia would be in a fighting stance waiting for her captain to use her Shikai.

Hotaru watched as her new recruit took to the ring rather well. Sylvia immediately started to walk to the other end of the ring. It seemed that she had a bit of an inkling as to what they were doing here. She watched her walk and saw that she didn't make eye contact with the rest of the division that happened to be here. Hotaru noticed that the squad members around here were starting to gather in the bleachers.

She didn't know if they hadn't seen her fight before or liked to watch friendly spars, but it would be interesting for them. Sylvia then told her that she wanted to fight her Shikai. Hotaru raised her right eyebrow at that. Most people that were new to a squad wouldn't ask to fight their captain's Shikai. It was interesting that she picked that one, just like Arantima had done with her. 

She obviously wanted to train or has been training fairly regularly to get stronger. If fighting a strong opponent is what she wanted, she would definitely get it with her. She saw her draw out her smaller blade and Hotaru smiled slightly. The woman was definitely ready to go and fight. Wanting to see her Bankai if she won was just the kicker. She was fairly confident and Hotaru was ready to oblige.

She unsheathed her zanpaktou and took her sheath out. She held her sword in her right and sheath in her left, looking at her new recruit. "Very well, Shikai it is. But, just so you know Sylvia-san, if you want to see my Bankai, you just have to ask. I might show it to you sooner than you think. Burn, Rivu~aiasan!" Once she said his release phrase, fire and scales erupted from her zanpaktou. Her sheath turned into a scaled cannon on her left arm and her zanpaktou turned into a scimitar.

Once the change to the sword was finished and the dragon head formed as her hilt, having the scaled tail wrapped around her arm, the dragon head lit the entire blade of the sword on fire, burning purple flames. She looked at Sylvia with her sword on fire and her cannon was lightly pointed towards her. "Alright, Sylvia-san, go ahead. I'll let you try to strike me first. I'll let you know when the spar is over."

Sylvia was hard to read, but she was still someone that liked manga, music and had crushes on Kuchiki males. Only thing is nobody knew this side of Sylvia because she didn't let anyone find her manga or the music that she listen to, and try to hide the fact she liked Kuchiki males. As she had not seen one it has been easy. Sylvia was not scared to face a new challenge. Sylvia has been in many fights. Sylvia was holding her sword and waiting for what her captain would do. What would her Shikai powers be? Many questions. That she needed to know.

Burn, Rivu~aiasan. This was her captain's Shikai. Sylvia would smile at Hotaru. "Hotaru-sama. I know if I asked you would show it to me, but I would like to earn it." Sylvia eyes would open in shock. This looked nothing like the last Shikai she has seen? Just what was this. She didn't know how to attack something that was unknown to her. She looked at the weapon and it looked close to what humans would call a gun. This must be how the weapon worked. She didn't think it could be used in close combat, but only going in for a close attack Sylvia would be able to tell, but it did look too heavy for someone to use for close range.

She thought going in close would do it, but Sylvia has a style before going in for attacks. You must use something to test and to see what your target will do first. This is why Sylvia would start with Kido. "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into three! Bakudo #30: Shitotsu Sansen." Sylvia would say this in a soft tone as she formed a triangle light beam. All three of the edges would shoot out and go after her captain. Sylvia knew her captain was a lot stronger and faster, so she needed to use her head. All three forms of light would go for one arm, one leg, and her neck.

Sylvia would be able to tell how her captain would fight from her attack. Would she use her weapon as a guard? She could just dodge it, but Sylvia would gain a small amount of knowledge using her Kido as the first move. She used the moment her captain was finished speaking to fire her Kido. Just how strong was she? Well, Sylvia would know how she fights off attacks soon. Sylvia was planning on gaining a little amount of knowledge with each attack. Sylvia already had an idea how her weapon would work. From looks alone, it could fire Reiatsu at people. Sylvia wouldn't stop with this, she wouldn't let her eyes leave the captain. Getting ready to counter when her captain would make a move.

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

Once Sylvia said that she wanted to earn the glimpse at her Bankai, Hotaru had a fairly good idea on how to incorporate Bankai into the fight. She thought slightly about how to use it when she saw Sylvia look over her Shikai. It was a bit different from other Shikai than she had seen. She had never seen another Shikai that had a sword and another weapon attached to their arm like her cannon.

She watched as she started to chant out a Kido. Hotaru had never really learned how to use Kido, but her Shikai's power could more than make up for it. Her Shikai could make Kido pretty much ineffective. But, of course, Slyvia wouldn't know that. But, she's weak enough that the Kido wouldn't work against Hotaru at this level. Once her incantation finished, she shot the Kido towards Hotaru.

Hotaru stood and smiled towards the recruit. It seemed that she wanted to see how she would react towards this before attacking her outright. Smart. Hotaru flexed her reiatsu towards the Kido. Since her reiatsu strength was much stronger than hers, the reiatsu flex completely destroyed the Kido that was coming towards her. She didn't even move a muscle. "Nice trick, Sylvia-san, but you might want to try harder."

SySylvia would be facing her captain. She thought if she didn't give up or thought outside the box she would have a chance of winning in this fight with her. Her bakudo was no match for someone this strong. Sylvia needed to think outside the box to match her. Sylvia also asked that she wished to earn seeing the captain's Bankai. It was just who Sylvia was. This Shikai was odd it looked a lot like a gun, but how would Hotaru-sama use it? Well, only way Sylvia could see if she try to fight her up close. With her Bakudo unable to work on Hotaru-sama at all.

As Sylvia's Kido failed. She would run right up to her captain getting ready to slash her cannon to see what effects it may have. This could backfire but Sylvia needed a better understanding of what she was up against first. Her slash was not that powerful, but this was to see how her captain would handle her up close in a close range type battle. Sylvia didn't wait to hear what the captain had to say. Sylvia was focused too much on the battle. Unlike Sylvia the captain was much stronger. Meaning she didn't need to work out how Sylvia would fight.

Sylvia would say in a soft voice, sounding confident. "I will not lose." Sylvia would say, she never wished to lose. Not to anyone, it doesn't matter who that person is, but Sylvia has lost before. Her own father was not the type who would allow losing, truth is he was the type that didn't pay any attention to Sylvia if she could beat a captain that would get his attention. If the first Slash off Sylvia's sword didn't work she would keep slashing many times in till she could think up a new plan. That could work on her captain, but matching a captain was not going to be easy, but Sylvia would keep trying.

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

Hotaru had left her arms out but when she she flexed her reiatsu, she dropped her sword down to her side and kept her cannon upright. The second that the blade dropped towards the ground, she immediately made her sword secrete more of the liquid that created her purple flames. It started pool around her feet and she was keeping an eye on the liquid. If the fire hit her, it would cause her damage, which wasn't a good idea.

She made sure the liquid coming down wasn't getting lit on fire while she watched Sylvia. Her cannon was more than enough right now to deal with Sylvia, at least that's what she thought for the time being. After the flex, however, she saw that Sylvia was running towards her cannon. Hotaru smiled towards her and knew something that she could easily do against the girl. If she really wanted to see the full power of her Shikai, she would get it.

So, while Sylvia ran towards her, she pointed her cannon towards her and spewed out her liquid. She would continue spewing liquid towards Sylvia until she had got a decent amount on her. Even if Sylvia moved to the side, Hotaru would continue to follow her around until it was impossible to see Sylvia. Once Sylvia got hit by the cannon, she would stop it spewing liquid and then point it down, letting it slowly leak more of her liquid on the ground.

At that point, her sword would be up in a ready stance, the puddle under her feet getting larger, sneaking closer and closer towards Sylvia. Once Sylvia got hit with a good amount of liquid, Hotaru would feel the switch in the liquid on her only and turn it on, the liquid on her body igniting and a fire starting to form on her. "This is one of the powers of my Shikai, Sylvia. I'm curious if you will be able to see any of the others."

Sylvia would see her captain put down her cannon holding it up once again. Sylvia didn't notice but the purple liquid as her captain did a good job at hiding it from her. What would this liquid do? Well, all you can do is wait in till Sylvia would see it in action. Sylvia wished to see how her captain's Shikia would work in combat. Was it just a big weapon that had power or could it do much more that she herself didn't know anything about yet. Well, Sylvia had a small idea, as it looked like a gun. She thought it was able to send and blast out Reiatsu towards its targets.

As Sylvia was still running towards her captain ready to swing her sword towards the cannon. Something odd would happen. A purple liquid would be on her, she didn't know what it was. As she would say, in a worried tone. "What is this?" It would be on her clothes. It was odd. What did her captain, gain from doing this? Sylvia would notice this time. As Hotaru-sama was placing more of that weird liquid on the ground coming from her cannon, but it wouldn't take her long to raise her sword into the air as she got into a stance. Sylvia had never seen a Shikai like this before.

The purple liquid was starting to make a puddle under the captain's feet. The liquid that was on her would start to ignite. Sylvia couldn't see any way around this. She was shocked, but even if the liquid was on her. Sylvia needed to try and think of a way to get around it, but how. Things were starting to heat up like she was on fire. Sylvia couldn't think of any way or had no Kido for this reason. She didn't know any place with water that was nearby. Sylvia had no idea, running towards her captain wouldn't do anything. She was too fast and trying to get it all off. Is all Sylvia could do.

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

Hotaru watched as her purple fire ignited on her newest recruit. She was curious as to what she would do to try to get the fire off. She saw the recruit working through how to try to get the fire to stop. Sylvia was pretty much looking around with a worried face, trying to figure out what to do next. She wouldn't let her dwell with that kind of pain. From the looks of things now, the fire was hitting her skin and she would start to get burned.

She would wait until the fire would hit her skin and she would start to get burned before she would turn the fire off. Hotaru would look towards Sylvia before she would begin to speak. "You just witnessed the true power of my zanpaktou, Rivu~aiasan. The liquid he secretes can be lit on fire, though the fire is special. His fire can't be put out with water, for one thing. So, If you were thinking about trying to douse it with water, it would've done nothing to hinder it.

Though, if you would've tried the sand and dirt under it, it probably would've worked a lot better. You said that you wouldn't lose, but I would like to push that to the limit. All of the Tenth Division members that are here and that don't want to be caught in my zanpaktou's sphere of influence, leave now. Remember, I warned you." At that, all of the Tenth Division members that were watching decided to leave in a very hurried pace.

Once they were gone, she looked towards Sylvia. "You wanted it, Sylvia, you got it. Burn everything, Sōdai rivu~aiasan no ofurōdā!" She was then engulfed in purple flame and her area of effect flames would burst out from her, and the purple flames would ignite, showing the boundary of half a mile from Hotaru's spot now. Once the flames cleared, two huge dragon headed whips would appear.

The purple liquid would be seen through the dragon scales that make up the bodies of the whips. If you would look down from the dragon head whips towards who was holding them, you would see Hotaru, but dressed much differently. She would be decked out in purple armor, with a dragon head as her helmet. She smiled towards Sylvia. "Go ahead and try whatever you want now, Sylvia."

Sylvia had no idea on how to deal with her captain's zanpaku'to ability. If it was just fire, coming towards her. She could try to dodge it or something, but because the flames were coming off the liquid. She couldn't dodge and had no idea on how she could put it out. The fire was starting to get hot. As she was getting small burns over her arms. It was hurting as she would drop to her knees. Letting go of her zanpaku'to. Then as the fire would stop, but Sylvia was still in a lot of pain. It was hitting as she has never been burnt before. Her hand would be over the places that were hit by the fire.

Listening to her captain speak, this was the true power of the zanpaku'to that she was holding in her hands. Sylvia's eyes would open in shock. As she heard that her fire cannot be put out by water. It was dirty and it must be some other way that she was not thinking of. That could work on her zanpaku'to. Sylvia would keep listening to her speak. As she was still on the ground holding the burn marks that was made by her captain's zanpaku'to.

She was told. That she was going to test if Sylvia wouldn't give up. What did this mean? She told all the other members of this squad to get away if they didn't. They would be hurt by the zanpaku'to sphere of influence. What did that mean was it more to her Shikai that Sylvia didn't know about? You could tell it was big, from how fast they were moving. The moment that Sylvia heard the same name. Added with another name. She knew it was a Bankai. Why use it here, Sylvia was no match for her Shikai it was no need in going a higher level.

Sylvia was shocked, it was nothing that could be said. This was her Bankai. Sylvia couldn't move as her zanpaku'to would stay on the ground. She couldn't even say anything at this point in time. Seeing two huge dragon whips and the purple flames. What was it Sylvia could do. Sylvia would stay on the floor for once in her life looking scared and defeated. As she would say words, that has never been said before from her. "....I give... up." She had no other choice. Sylvia couldn't match this type of power. It was small tears in her eyes. Hotaru stood and continued to smile towards Sylvia. Her dragon whips were being polite, staying close to Hotaru. They would normally be snapping out at whoever was opposite her, but Rivu~aiasan knew that the girl was an ally and a member of her division. He would never do anything against one of hers unless it was necessary. He would move back and have his heads by Hotaru's, one on each side of her face.

She would slowly walk towards the girl while she looked up at her in awe. Obviously, the woman had never seen a Bankai before. Now that she's seen one, she had no idea what to do. Bankai was supposed to be formidable and Hotaru liked to think hers was pretty formidable. Though, she didn't like that she was looking so defeated. She herself had wanted to see her Bankai. It was interesting.

When she made it to the girl, she said that she had given up. Hotaru knelt down until she was eye level with the girl. The dragon head whips would remain elevated and out of the way, just in case Sylvia was scared of them. "This is a Bankai, Sylvia. Maybe one day you will be able to unlock this kind of potential. I know you said that you've given up, but you are welcome to try something if you still want to." She would hold her hand out to help the girl up.

The shock of seeing her first Bankai was too much for her. Sylvia knew for once in her life that it didn't matter how much power she had, or try to speak up. It wouldn't do anything if she tried. She would end up dead. She couldn't attack, as just the spiritual pressure alone was making her feel fear. This was the true power of a Bankai, something Sylvia wished to unlock herself one day, but now was not the time for her to face it, and you could tell by looking at her. She knew that. She did wish to see a Bankai as she could grow stronger and gain her father's respect, but she was not at that level yet. The only thing that could work is Kido, but it didn't work last time. That was when she was not even using her Shikia.

As her captain was speaking with Sylvia, she didn't wish to give up, but it was no chance at all of fighting her. Everything she did would be pointless. She would take her captain's hand as it was given to her. As she started to get up listening to what she said. After going down to meet her at eye level. Sylvia didn't like saying, what was about to come out her mouth, but it was no lying about it. "I can't beat you, it's no point in trying. When I know I can't match your level of skill." She would say sounding a little upset. She would wait to see what her captain had to say on the matter. Would she agree or say some words? That would make her keep fighting. She did hope one day. That she could gain Bankai but still needed her Shikai. "I hope one day I can gain it." Still sounding upset.
