Name: [Kuroi Naito] [The Infinite Darkness]
Age of Death/Rebirth: [65/66]
Real Age/Age of Appearance: [320/42]
Birthday (Month/Day): [12/1]
Blood Type: [AB+]
RP Sample (Optional): [See all threads related to Kuroi Naito. He is this forum's oldest character.]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Height/Weight: [6'3/196 lbs.]
Physical Description: [Current Appearance:
He is a darkness which blights the land upon which the sun shines. No matter what angle people look at Kuroi from, his shadow appears to loom over them. Broad shouldered and tall, a he casts his shadow over any observing him. With toned features whose caricature should be presumed only in a comic book hero, Kuroi succeeds in being what is expected of a former soldier in the Japanese military. His large shoulders quickly mitigate any size issues which his naturally slender frame could have presented. They might say that Kuroi is built like a quarterback. Others speculate that he more resembles a twisted, Japanese Captain America. The imposition of what Kuroi can be imagined as is insignificant next to the power of his speaking voice, which commands those subjects nearby and fills the room immediately with a sense of formality and greatness, along with his endless experience as a soldier in Kouhai’s army.
An enormous chasm-like scar reaches across his entire back diagonally. More resembling the San Andreas than any sort of battle wound, it was inflicted upon him in his final battle with Sozen Kuchiki, whose victory over “Segunda Espada, Kuroi Naito” was the catalyst which would eventually lead to a complete change. After receiving this scar, he would come to don his mask and his rage would take over his soul. When Kuroi now is angered, this scar glows a deep, ominous red as reiatsu blasts around him. Kuroi had never been known to be merciful, but more so now than ever can someone claim this truth. Kuroi will tolerate no such thing as failure. After all, his true comrades are dead. There is no need to be kind to his new subordinates.
Kuroi's skin tone lies somewhere a bit hard to place. Pale, but not sheet white, and certainly tanned just a bit, but not quite what one would call absolutely noticeable. Perhaps, looking back, Kuroi's skin is simply the same as a Japanese average male's. After all, Kuroi is Japanese in descent, thus making sense. In color, this seems to be fitting, though perhaps even the slightest tinge darker than this. Kuroi's constant exposure to wild sunlight in his human life left him with a complexion like this, though of course his lack of sunlight exposure in Hueco Mundo robbed him of a bit of tanning, as it does for most.
Recall that Kuroi was a soldier. In his boot camp, he learned to exercise regularly. His discipline has brought to him the physical prime of any who exercise to such a degree as himself. Capable of benching up to 400 pounds, Kuroi once was one of the top physical performers in his squadron. Now that he possesses the body of an Arrancar, he has understood that his stamina is far more than was ever possible as a mere human. A regimen which is said to include 3000 push-ups, 5000 sit-ups, 2000 pull-ups, 10,000 squats, 20,000 on the jump rope, and constant practice of his swordplay. When not on missions, that is what Kuroi will be found doing. Pushing his body to be strong.
Kuroi's head is averagely sized and shaped, with a gaunt shaping and cold, dark black eyes. Gaze into his soul and know your impotence. When majesty falls and all cities are demolished and entire nations are swallowed whole by the biting unpredictability of chaos and inevitable downfall, look around and find examples of Despair. Now gaze into the eyes of the Envainar of Hope, and say that you do not see such a thing looking back at you. What is all the more terrifying is that behind all of this, Kuroi was and perhaps still is a man. But, more machine than man now in his mind,
Kuroi's mouth is normal, but it bears no crinkles at all, not even slightly, which signifies that he rarely smiles. He has before, but only in contempt. There is no reason to smile. Not from lack of joy. From lack of necessity. Smiling is a wasted gesture. His hair is jet black, and short-medium, unruly and just growing out and thickening. It's a bit rough and fuzzy, but overall looks quite nice on him. Kuroi is a serious individual. Once, he smiled at comrades. He can no longer smile at those deceased individuals. Those that brought to his life of Despair even the most mediocre of light have been extinguished. What remains now is only hatred and the infinite darkness. Despair rules over all hearts, even the Envainar of Hope.
Though in later years he has indeed learned what it is to feel hatred, and rage, he uses them from an unemotional standpoint. He uses them as tools to help magnify his aggression, and inflict pain and injury on his enemies. Essentially, Kuroi does not exactly have a particular emotion that he shows. Perhaps it is arrogance, perhaps impertinence. In reality, Kuroi does smile sometimes, but most of the time he is calm, reserved, and cold. Most of the time, he is devoid of most emotions other than things like this.
Kuroi wears dark black shoes, as well as black pants. These pants have pockets, as Kuroi is frequently seen keeping at least one hand in a pocket. His shirt is a white dress shirt, and over this he wears a black military style suit jacket. Sometimes he also wears a black cloak with it, but only when he wears his custom mask, described later. Kuroi's Zanpakuto is kept within a dark black glove that he wears over his right hand. These are special "summoning gloves", and it is a special type of silk as well. These allow him to pull his Zanpakuto out of his reiatsu, as in fact Kuroi is the only Arrancar capable of containing his own Zanpakuto inside of himself. He has two gloves, one on each hand, and a spare glove within the folds of his cloak. Kuroi's Zanpakuto, furthermore, is capable of emanating a red glow in a cross shape, his reiatsu. This has no purpose other than intimidation.
Across his body Kuroi once had scars from parts of his Ressurection, which had embedded scars on him. Now however, in recent years, they have come to fade, and can no longer be seen. This is because Kuroi's power has eroded them, and he has surpassed his previous self. But, he also has other things. Directly visible around Kuroi's hollow hole, which is located on the center of his chest, is a pattern of three black stars, set in a triangular position. It isn't certain exactly what the stars are, though Kuroi himself actually knows. Nobody else has figured out what the stars mean around Kuroi's hollow hole. When asked about them, Kuroi replies with two simple words. "God's Vanity." [OOC Note: It's from the first Movie Canon, in which Kuroi took out a Dios Vacuo level Hollow.]
He is mature looking, but not middle aged, in his early 40s, though his age is very difficult to determine. It can be assumed from his appearance and apparent age that he is a few years past his physical peak, even though as a being he is far older then his appearance lets on. Still, one cannot deny that Kuroi is also good looking, and a significant catch to the ladies[and some of the homosexual men.] However, he has no interest in these things since he still holds the memories of pain from his human life. And, due to the general lack of emotion, any attraction that Kuroi poses tends to wither away very quickly.
Of course, being good looking is no good if one does not take advantage of it. Most will actually find Kuroi rather unappealing because of the fact that he is adamantly bordered with his unemotional face, and the monotone of cold ice that he displays. Essentially the fact that he is emotionless, cold, and negative all reflect badly on what people think of him. Then again, it doesn't matter since they are almost always constantly fearing him.
In recent years, the position of his mask fragment has changed. His mask is a white fragment going around the behind of his left ear. It was once something going across his chin, but that is no longer the case. Kuroi's mask fragment actually cannot be seen unless he shows it to someone. It's almost like an ear ring that's hard to see. It is from some kind of lion-like appearance. The reality behind his changed mask fragment location is his increase in strength, which made it smaller and less noticeable. Obviously of course, his mask fragment can be seen whenever his hair moves. And part of it, pointing at the earlobe like an ear ring, can of course be caught in view by anyone.
Kuroi also sometimes wears a mask, a sort of helmet. Dark, intimidating, and masking any form of facial features and resembling no visage at all, Kuroi's faceless mask is the most intimidating part of him. This is especially true with the partial voice modulation built into his mask, altering how he sounds when he speaks. He wears it primarily on far away missions that require a lot of his time or resources. This, because a face is not necessary anymore. All that matters is that Kuroi is a shadow. He is the infinite darkness. That which is beyond even Despair! He is what one would call hopelessness.
Kuroi's reiatsu is predominantly black. However, it has a unique appearance. When Kuroi flares his reiatsu for dramatic effect or similar, it is swirls of black energy around his body, along with some gray and white steam, as well as black steam. On top of that, Kuroi's reiatsu seems to have some kind of dramatic "monstrous" appearance, for black chimeras materialize out of his reiatsu, either made of energy, or appearing to be actual monsters, circling around him. Black feathers made of actual feather or made of reiatsu gently cascade all around Kuroi. He can even use this reiatsu as a distraction. His killing aura is unlike anything anyone has ever seen.
Also, located on the back of Kuroi's left hand, once was Kuroi's calligraphically planted Espada number. He was the Segunda Espada, and so a nice calligraphic "2" was planted visibly across Kuroi's palm. Now, there is only the word "Hope," but it is crossed out by an enormous X. Kuroi has transcended even the might of the Espada. He has ascended to the rank of Envainar, for he is an unparalleled Arrancar.

Former Appearances:
Adjuchas Appearance:
During his Adjuchas life, Kuroi's appearance was rather simple. With well toned muscles across his four legs, and perfectly white and flawless skin, Kuroi would always walk under the pale moonlight. His claws were sharp on all fours, and his tail was long, with spikes at the very end. His eyes never changed, and his mane was black as the sky of Hueco Mundo. During this time, Kuroi's hollow hole was located on the small of his back.
His head/face/mask was a skeletal lion, and the teeth were almost always dripping with green blood; the blood of regular hollows. However, on occasion, red blood would become visible. Arrancar did indeed fall prey to Kuroi, even when he was a mere Adjuchas. Though in his time, Kuroi looked menacing, that was nothing compared to what he eventually turned into. The eventual appearance that he developed was even more menacing.
Vasto Lorde Appearance:
As a Vasto Lorde, Kuroi looked almost god-like. He had his well toned muscles, and perfectly white skin. The mask had not changed, and it stayed completely the same. His hollow hole was located on the center of his chest, and his hands were clawed, feet as well with black fur on the ankles. Black flame patterns were constantly visible tattoo-like across Kuroi's entire body. He was truly a sight to behold.
He had his spiked tail, he kept his lion's mane. Kuroi was a Vasto Lorde of incredible power. But, there was always something different about him. Even as a Vasto Lorde, he was a bit strong for his level. One day, he woke up with a black star tattoo visible above his hollow hole. Kuroi was uncertain of what it was. He continued forwards, and eventually one more developed. These both happened after he defeated a certain enemy. Just what is Kuroi? What are the enemies he defeated?]

• Favorite Color |
Venom green. Kuroi seems to gain a pleasure from venom and poisons, and he associates this to his favorite color of green. It is attributed mainly to his enjoyment in metaphorically poisoning the heart and soul of others, and watching them suffer painfully.
Kuroi also just flat out enjoys watching people suffer physically, so this can also be contributed to the enjoyment that he would get from a victim convulsing at his feet as a powerful toxin makes it's way through their system and slowly destroys them.
One § Suffering - Seeing enemies suffer. This is probably because Kuroi himself has suffered through so many things throughout both of his lives, as a human, and as a hollow. Therefore, a suffering enemy is a good enemy.
Two § Water - It is tasteless, but simply pure. It is something that Hueco Mundo does not have, and thus Kuroi loves water, and would gladly lap up ever drop existing if he could, though water cannot be used to bargain with him.
Three § The Moon - Kuroi traveled for many years under Hueco Mundo's skies, the moon being his only companion. Even to this very day, Kuroi loves the moon, and it's beauty. He enjoys staring at it, something many don't really understand well.
Four § Animals - Kuroi loves and is very good with animals. Mainly, he likes their representation of what people can turn into, primitive and uncivil savages that have no minds at all.
Five § Battle - Kuroi's entire personality is based from the start off of the events of WWII that he experienced as a human. Even as a hollow these things shape him. For this reason, Kuroi loves the thrill of battle, and he loves the feeling of satisfaction that he gains when he defeats or butchers a foe.
Six § Blood - Kuroi loves the scent of blood. This goes with his love of battle, he likes the sight of blood as well, the look of it, just the thought of the crimson liquid spilling out of his foe because of wounds that he inflicted using his power, the loss of the liquid weakening his foe, and making them suffer.
Seven § Boldness - Kuroi loves seeing this in others. Boldness, the trait that allows them to defy the natural order of things, and the ability to defy the law. He loves this because it helps contribute to one of his greatest likes of all, one of the things that could well make the top spot for the thing he loves most. . .
Eight § Chaos - He loves chaos. Defying the natural order of things, offsetting the balance, turning things upside down for everyone, even himself. Chaos stimulates Kuroi, and just the sight of something chaotic, or the thought of chaos, is enough to send warmth throughout his body, and make him feel literally happy.
Nine § Dogs - Kuroi loves animals, but he especially loves dogs. Something about their obedience hiding their true and vicious nature appeals to him. If Kuroi were ever transformed from a hollow into something else, there is no doubt that he would want to be a wolf or a dog or something along the lines of canine.
Ten § Deception - Kuroi loves deceiving people. While he himself likes to receive the truth, he loves inflicting pain onto others through deception. Simply making them fall to the ground in anguish with nothing more then words and thoughts that he places into their minds makes Kuroi a very happy person.
Eleven § Staring at the sky - Kuroi loves staring at the sky. It is a random like amid all of his depressing and negative other likes, but it is just a random past time that Kuroi went through as an adjuchas and Vasto Lorde when he was wandering alone, and got tired.
Twelve § Despair - Kuroi loves the despair that some people will fear, the pain that they will experience. Kuroi is a menacing, and is an evil person. That is why, that is why despair is what he loves the most out of everything.
Thirteen § Torture - Who doesn't like to torture people? Torture is fun, it's so great. To torture someone is to rip them to shreds either mentally or physically. Or both. One way or another, it's great to torture people.
Fourteen § Miley Cyrus - This is Kuroi's deepest shame. He actually really likes Miley Cyrus. He likes her music, and he has the hots for her. Should anyone find out...Terrible things would happen...
Fifteen § Singing - He doesn't actually sing. He can sing, believe it or not! But Kuroi does not sing. He is actually very good, but chooses not to. No, the singing he likes is from girls. From women. He likes it when they can sing, and finds it beautiful when they can sing well. Not the pop stuff. He only likes Miley Cyrus for pop stuff. Soft, soothing, and gentle singing is what he likes. A beautiful voice that carries on the wind and makes everything feel calm. That's one way to actually win the Segunda Espada. Singing.
Sixteen § Li Mei - Asuka Hitotoki's Fraccion member. Kuroi seems to have developed precious feelings towards her. These are feelings of caring, and attachment. This could well be a "bond" that formed as a result of being given a lecture by Nishiru Tokoheita over bonds. In fact, as far as Li Mei is concerned, Kuroi could possibly feel more than just caring. Could it be...love?
Seventeen § Cooking - Kuroi has in recent years learned to cook. He figured it is absolutely necessary for survival. Though not among his top skills, Kuroi's ability as a chef is quite high. Though he is actually incapable of baking, being a mess at it, he does know how to cook normal food. In Las Noches, it is entirely possible, though not certain to his knowledge that he is the best cook among the Arrancar.
Eighteen § Swordsmanship - Kuroi is a swordsman. It took years to really realize that he wanted to call himself that. However, he uses blades, he is a true swordsman, and he fights with a code that allows him to be a swordsman. Of course, Kuroi isn't just any old swordsman either. He's one of the best. That's absolutely certain. Being able to do what he does, he can obviously win many blade fights.
Nineteen § Rio Demonliogalgo - He is an appropriate strength for the Quinta Espada. He is of course, as expected, far below Kuroi. On the other hand, his strength is absolutely perfect for his rank. There's no real complaint about him.
Twenty § Adalo De-Mona - A fitting Primera. Though weaker than Kuroi, this one initially demonstrated his strength on many occasions. Of all the Espada, he has given the greatest challenge to Kuroi. Adalo's ability as a swordsman was one of the things that pushed Kuroi to attempt to further his own swordsmanship even more than before.
Twenty One § Rey Diablo - Though admittedly Kuroi looks down on him just a bit for lacking a release, this one had proved his strength via his insane amount of reiatsu strength. It is too bad he is dead.
Twenty Two § Shiroi Hokai - Same reasons as Rey Diablo.
Twenty Three § Fraccion - Kuroi's Fraccion, now dead.
Twenty Four § Grimoire Acero - Strong. Devastating. This man is a true test to Kuroi's strength, and a regular rival to him. There are none in this world that Kuroi would consider to truly be his equal at the same level as Grimoire.
Dislikes: [Create a list below.]
One § Love - This is the big dislike. Kuroi cannot stand seeing affection and love, because it is something that was denied to him in not just one life, but two. It is something he went without, and it is one of the largest reasons that he became a hollow in the first place. It's pretty funny that he dislikes it, as the vestiges of it are beginning to surface in his personality again.
Two § Dirty socks - They are repulsive, smelly, and they aren't fun to look at, be around, or even wear. Utterly disgusting, who DOES like them?
Three § Day Time - Kuroi loves the moon, but for that reason he hates day, because the moon isn't within view during the day time. Kuroi prefers to do everything at night.
Four § Shinigami - He hates them for exterminating hollows for doing what is in their nature, he hates them for being so unjust, and he hates them for thinking so little of the suffering of others, seeing as they live in luxury and peace in Seireitei.
Five § Waiting - Kuroi hates waiting over anything. He hates being made to wait, and he has very little patience for tedious things, such as waiting in a line, or waiting to be called somewhere, or simply waiting to take action.
Six § Hypocrites - Kuroi hates people that do things they say not to, or can't do things that they say others should and will. If someone says something, they should be able to back it up themselves, not cower like pathetic maggots and just make others do it.
Seven § Teenage girls - Kuroi retains memories of the human world, and brought a particular dislike with him. Teenage girls. He hates the drama they bring with them, the stupid immaturity, the slutty acting the "popular" ones display, and the idiotic comments. Nothing ruins Kuroi's day more than stupid teenage girls and their jealousy, overacting emotions, immaturity, stupidity, mediocrity at things that should be easy, and most of all, their tendency to overreact to everything.
Eight § Sleeping - While Kuroi enjoys resting, and taking naps, sleeping full on is something that he hates. It is the fact that he dreams that irritates him. Kuroi finds it impossible to rest when he is dreaming, and so he wakes up grouchy and full of complaints and shrewed remarks when he sleeps.
Nine § Know-It-Alls - Kuroi hates people that believe they know everything. It seems sometimes as if he knows everything when he speaks, but it only seems this way when speaking of negative subjects. People that seem to know literally everything, and spill irrelevant and sometimes even untrue facts about stuff irritates Kuroi, and causes him to find a murderous mood within himself.
Ten § Fear - Kuroi hates Fear, what more can be said? He hates cowardice, he hates people that back out on things, and he hates fear in himself, with greatly limits his power and holds him back. Fearful comrades hold him back, his own fear holds him back, fearful enemies make the battle boring.
Eleven § Weak Impressionists - People who try to force impressions and opinions onto people that are more knowledgeable and more powerful than they are. Kuroi despises these people, and simply because their messages fall short from ears when the people delivering them are unfit to give such messages. It is almost like a first grader trying to teach a college professor.
Twelve § Asuka Hitotoki - This is the Noveno Espada. The one who pulled him into the infinite darkness by showing him love and joy. Then she disappeared. With her, everyone else disappeared or died as well. Had Asuka never been brought into his life, Kuroi would never have known that pain. He would never have had to know that pain.
Thirteen § Sargon - The Tercera Espada thinks far too highly of himself. There have been others before him and there will be others after him. He is not the strongest Arrancar, or even the strongest to hold the Tercera rank. He will learn. In time. Kuroi will show him the infinite darkness.
Fourteen § Sozen Kuchiki - This is more than dislike. This is hate. It was Sozen's victory over Kuroi which created the conditions Kuroi now lives under. Because of Sozen, everything which Kuroi had valued was destroyed. Revenge will be swift and merciless.
Fifteen § Sonken Kouhai - Soon, he will die.
Sixteen § Kouen Akarui - Kuroi's Former Fraccion, now dead.
Seventeen § Red Face - That demonic statue in Sonken Kouhai's throne room. Something about it is...unnerving.
Habits: [Create a list below.]
One § Hands in pockets - It is uncertain where he got the habit, but Kuroi tends to always put his hands in his pockets, even in battle. He can easily get them back out again, but it is something that could well get him killed.
Two § Meditating - Kuroi meditates once a day.
Three § Disdain - Kuroi shows lots of disdain towards people, towards the world. He hates things, he hates the world, and he shows this with much "enthusiasm."
Four § Calling stuff trash - Kuroi has an odd habit. He calls lots of things trash. Trash this, trash that, Kuroi simply trash talks everything that can possibly come to mind. There are few things that he does not label as trash, and fewer things still that he does not dislike.
Five § Overkill - Kuroi kills too many things, and he butchers too many things. He goes overboard when facing enemies that he is allowed to kill. If his goal is just to neutralize or capture, he doesn't go TOO overboard, aside perhaps from severing all limbs of the victim.
Six § Drama - Kuroi has a flare for theater. In another life, he could well be an actor. He loves to be dramatic with his talking. He comes off as emotionless, but some of the things that he says are simply over the top roll your eyes dramatic.
Seven § Marking his victims - Every strong opponent that Kuroi defeats ends up with a hole directly over their heart. It is uncertain why Kuroi does this, but it could well be akin to a representation of turning a great warrior into a hollow, much like what happened to Kuroi.
Fears: [Create a list below.]
Kuroi fears himself too far gone. Kuroi fears himself beyond the saving that was described to him once by Nishiru Tokoheita. He has obviously become an agent of the infinite darkness, and Kuroi fears that now that is all that he is and all that he can ever be.
Goals: [Create a list below.]
Kuroi's final, ultimate goal, is known as world of Despair. The land of Hopelessness. It is the one goal for which he strives the most. It is inspired by his time with Asuka. She taught him something valuable and important. The feeling of happiness. From Asuka, he learned it again. Then, it was taken away from him. Kuroi has therefore learned that to achieve true Despair, one first must have hope. Therefore, for now, his goal is to help Hueco Mundo to flourish. He will do everything within his power to give it beauty, grace, and dignity. It will be paradise. Hollows will no longer need to slaughter each other to survive, and will be able to happily coexist. They will be given a second chance at a new life. A happier one without so much conflict. Then, when all is well, and Hueco Mundo is paradise, Kuroi will tear down the paradise and he will destroy it all, sending them back into the harsh desert world status, and bringing everything crashing down around them. He will return things to the way that they were, the harshness and horrible conditions. This will cause them Despair. First, of course, however, he will work for the betterment of Las Noches. That is his ultimate goal thus far. Paradise within Hueco Mundo.
Flaws: [Create a list below.]
One § Arrogance - Kuroi is powerful, and believes that there is no one stronger then he is, no one that can ever defeat him or even hold a candlestick to his power. He fights with his hands in his pockets, fights with a vicious Hierro, attempts to do things with one hand without even drawing a sword. He only uses Resurrection when he is severely pressed and wounded.
Two § Being Solo - Kuroi cannot work in a team, he cannot work well with others, and he cannot possibly handle any form of followers or fraccion at all. In battle, Kuroi will end up killing anyone that dares try to assist him. Well, he does have a Fraccion, but he won't let them fight alongside him. They'll go do their own thing on his command.
Three § Hypocrisy - Kuroi hates hypocrites, but he himself is somewhat of a hypocrite. He hates overly arrogant people, but he himself is rather full of himself, though he is quite unknowing about this.
Four § Stubbornness - Kuroi is stubborn, and once a topic of argument has been started, he will not back down until proven incontrovertibly wrong. He is a vicious, and fiery person, something that could be his downfall should it get him into the bad graces of the wrong person.
Five § Disloyalty - Kuroi is disloyal to all, and is selfish. He serves only his own goals, something which helps to further make him alone. He was not alone in human life, but then again, in human life he was kind, considerate. That landed him nowhere, and so having no ties is better, since one can't be hurt if there are no ties to sever.
Six § Emotional Lack - It's not that he lacks emotions, it's that he lacks understanding of them. He doesn't know how to process them well, nor does he know well how to process social situations too much. It's rather difficult for him, after all. Though, it should be noted that while at base Kuroi seems to be evil, and probably is evil and does evil things, his goals are actually for the betterment of Hueco Mundo, and for good. He is a man of evil that happens to do good by doing evil.
Aspect of Death: [• Aspect of Death | (Despair)]
Alignment: [Lawful Evil]
Overall Personality: [Added Below]
The infinite darkness. Within Kuroi this is what composes his heart. The infinite darkness is turmoil. It is a sea of infinite Despair and relentless anger and Hopelessness. Any capable of sensing Kuroi’s soul or using their energy sensory to delve into his feelings will quickly become lost in the void that is his soul’s darkness. It will be experienced akin to falling into a deep, black pit with no relent. There can be and there is no remorse at all. The man that was a Japanese soldier was swallowed. The man that was an Espada was swallowed. What remains is the infinite darkness. That is the true form of the Envainar of Hope. Concluding what the infinite darkness is, it is also hate….of himself.
How could one not hate themselves for failing to prevent a terrible prophecy? It was years ago that Kuroi mysteriously traveled into the future and encountered his future self, who at that time was the Primera Espada. The then Primera warned Kuroi to keep his comrades close, or he would lose them just as that Primera had. Kuroi attempted to follow this advice, relying in part on his protectiveness of them and in part on fate, for by meeting his future self surely he must have changed his destiny. You can’t be serious. Don’t make me laugh. They still died. Sonken Kouhai himself wiped some of them out. Yes, Kuroi hates Kouhai, but perhaps losing the proximity which would allow the Envainar to kill the King is good… Because that evil King is all that Kuroi has left.
And so he is completely empty in combat and intrapersonal communication. There is only the infinite darkness. In pressurizing situations, Kuroi is easily calm. In battle, he keeps his cool and focuses on the situation, analyzing things while also moving and fighting on instinct. He would rather fight with one hand, and keep the other in his pocket. He believes that most opponents are worthless, with nothing to offer him and thus that fighting them is but a chore, leading to his desire to not even want to use Reiatsu or draw his sword for them. However, with rare exceptions, Kuroi will lose all composure and enter into a cold, hate filled frenzy of attack. It is not blood lust or rage. It is pure hate. It is controlled hate. It is his attempt to suck them into the void that is the infinite darkness. He will absorb them into it. He will show them the infinite darkness. He hates himself enough to overcome anything.
His fear of the darkness now has expanded. It is not a fear of being enclosed in darkness, but a fear of his own infinite darkness. It is a fear that he has been swallowed up and can never again be spat out. It is a fear that he is beyond what Nishiru Tokoheita said. Is Kuroi too far gone? Surely, he must be, if the only goal which can sustain him is his World of Despair and the inevitable and eventual death of Sonken Kouhai. If that is all, then what redeeming traits can there be? Is this tragedy? Of course not, don’t make me laugh. This is just the way life works for some people.
Kuroi abhors opponents with only blood lust in combat. How reckless, how predictable. Are you joking? It’s so mediocre. Once this was Adalo De-Mona. Once this was even Kuroi. No longer have any of the strongest come to this lust for blood. They are more nuanced. They are refined. Adalo has become Kashmir, and now desires the darkness in the hearts of others. Kuroi now has become an Envainar, and wishes to absorb others into his darkness. The infinite darkness. The black hate that is the source of his name: Kuroi.
And there is also confidence. Arrogance. The smug sneer of an Envainar who can accomplish anything. Do you have a plan for this situation, the less experienced will ask Kuroi. Of course he has a plan. He is Kuroi Naito. A living legend even among the Arrancar of Las Noches. The man that has defeated dozens of Captains and the same number of Espada, and whose power allowed him to triumph against the pitiable Quincy of the Vandenreich. Kuroi? Failing? No one can imagine that. Moreso than ever, he is the dreaded. No longer the right hand of Kouhai’s military might, he is simply an executioner acting of his own volition in order to regain Kouhai’s graces, and regain proximity to kill his master.
One of Kuroi’s more central traits is hate of the Shinigami. It is a loathing for those who kill the Hollows, engrained in him since the moment he was born as one with a hole where the heart should occupy. But more than this is a hatred of Sozen Kuchiki, the Shinigami whose victory took everything from Kuroi. Upon losing to Sozen Kuchiki, Kuroi was thrown away by Kouhai, cast into the Envainar to serve as a side role, and his Fraccion were slaughtered mercilessly. Yet, despite hating Sozen, Sozen is the only one to have overcome Kuroi… and is the only one who can also understand the infinite darkness. Sozen is the closest thing which Kuroi possesses to a friend.
Once there was a time for subtlety. Orchestrating things in the darkness was necessary. This is no longer the case. In order to truly create change… In order to truly make a difference… You are required to step into the light. You must be the enforcer, for this world makes sense only if one forces it to. One must become the tyrant and the storm, the cataclysm of nature itself. Judge, jury, and executioner. Kuroi can be all of these things, and he can be more. Hidden behind a faceless mask, Kuroi is a monster of no face and many faces. The infinite darkness.
Kuroi works in the light now, destroying threats, and obviously orchestrating the power of Las Noches. But, having others installed in the shadows, Kuroi is now working on both frontiers. Quite clearly, the King of Las Noches won't be too pleased with what happens. Kuroi won't stop until he has gotten what he wants. Of course, he has no intention of becoming the King of Las Noches. The King rarely does anything, and rarely gets to act. The King has too many enemies. Kuroi will never take hold of such a spot. He will always be a follower of the King. But, he will kill a king that is too weak. And he will kill this current King…
No longer is this the time for smiles. There can be no joy. There can be only contempt, and even then it is not a joyous contempt, but a serious one. Gone are the days when there could be any form of mitigation of the Despair within the heart of the infinite darkness. Those days vanished with Asuka Hitotoki, Nijuu Tentei, Kouen Akarui, Chisoku Re-Za, Miho Shoga, and Marcelius Depres. Gone are all of them, and gone are all of those days, and gone is anything that held Kuroi where he was. Even Nishiru Tokoheita and Souzetsu Masarao has fallen. Even rival, Enma, is gone. Now is only the infinite darkness.
Gone is Li Mei, a girl whom Kuroi had started to develop feelings for. Love? No, that is but a gateway emotion. Don’t make me laugh. Love is not strength, but a gateway to strength. In being robbed of love, one becomes strong by embracing hate. Kuroi, the infinite darkness. The Envainar of Hopelessness. That is and must be the face of this Arrancar. This faceless Arrancar hidden behind a faceless mask.
The Envainar of Hope: Kuroi Naito
Fighting Style: [Kuroi Naito has spent the last few years honing his own abilities, and training himself to become a warrior unrivaled. He is a master, and his style is based off of numerous styles, unique, strong. He is master in four types of sword play, as well as two different martial arts. Though Kuroi does not use or wield any unique and exotic weapons, the mastery that he displays with his regular weapons does indeed signify that he has no need for exotic powers or weapons to win, and that he is simply a maelstrom of power and strength.
The first part of Kuroi's style is the way he operates. Like a machine. A machine is efficient and strong at all times. If a machine breaks, then it is obsolete. A machine is constantly running with a stamina and efficiency that a person never has, and an unbiased judgment that a person never has as well. Machines are without emotion, operating in such a way that there is no such thing as emotional clouding. There is no such thing as emotion in a machine, there is only efficiency. A machine must also do things fast, faster than if a person tries to do it.
That is Kuroi's policy as a machine. He moves with great speed, and his attacks and movements are all efficient. He does not waste energy, but he does not use too little either. Each attack serves a purpose, nothing is useless. Reiatsu should not be wasted either, for it is exceedingly difficult to regenerate it quickly. The machine-like quality provided also allows Kuroi to have absolute power over his opponents. This means that he always knows how to deal with them.
In Kuroi's case, this means that the way he gauges them also allows him to gauge what kind of energy he should be expending. This mean even entail that he toy with some people. Weaker enemies, he will not use a blade against. Those kinds of enemies will fight a Kuroi that keeps one hand in his pocket, and simply attacks and defends with one hand, not even drawing out a blade. This can frustrate enemies, cause them to miscalculate. But, worse than this, it can cause people to commit suicide because of the realization that they will not defeat Kuroi.
Kuroi's mind works like a computer since his body works like a machine. Efficient, without bias or emotion. It is always scanning and analyzing a battle emotionlessly. Kuroi gauges the threat level of an enemy, and may let them live if they are weak enough, and will never rise to his level. His computer-like mind allows him to quickly regard an entire situation in a split second, or quickly jump to quick movement, instinctively reacting to the spur of the moment. It is this function of his mind which allows him to determine the best way to attack, the best sequence or combo to use, the best way to defend, all in a split second.
The next part of Kuroi's fighting style lies in his mastery of swords. The mastery of the blade is not a thing to be taken lightly, and most never get to be a master swordsman. He uses his blade for the first style, traditional to that of a samurai. Basically what this means is that Kuroi's blade wielding follows the same type of wielding that a samurai would, except of course that Kuroi does things with a one handed grip on his sword. The mastery generally makes it hard to duel with Kuroi, and so those who try will probably meet a quick and painful end.
As swordplay requires, Kuroi has mastered numerous kata, or sequences. He can branch off from one combination of hits to another, effectively combining kata, and breaking off in the middle of a sequence to perform a different one. He has thousands of possible combinations because of his kata. Since his skill is so great, he dispatches enemies at an alarming rate. One observer noted that Kuroi cut down an enemy before he could even finish blinking. By the time the observer was halfway done blinking, the enemy was on the ground in pieces. When the blink was completed, Kuroi's sword was once more sheathed.
When fighting, Kuroi can dismantle, dismember, or completely rip apart an enemy with his sword. Now, as to how he does this, the answer is obvious. The fact that he has mastered his sword so much means that he can wield it to such a degree that if he wanted to he could combine all of his sequences and perform hundreds of movements in a relatively quick time frame. He can branch off whenever, and he can combo any of his moves and sequences whenever. What this means is that nobody really stands a chance against Kuroi when it comes down to the sword.
For this part of Kuroi's style, the majority of his attacks are slashing. This is because only an amateur stabs when an enemy is not critically injured, or weakened. When stabbing, the sword can get stuck in the enemy. Obviously, this is bad. When pulling it out, the user is open to attacks. If the user leaves behind their weapon, they have been disarmed because of their own idiocy. Therefore, stabbing is not a very good choice of attack. Slashing is much more beneficial, efficient, and wise to do. That is why Kuroi employs slashing with most of his attacks and sequences. To see him stab is very rare. Also, Kuroi has indeed crafted unfamiliar sequences to throw people off, attacking along angles and directions that confuse enemies into misinterpreting the attack. This custom part of his style is what usually allows him to score hits.
The second part of his sword based ability comes from the ability to wield daisho, with a katana and wakizashi. He rarely does this, but he has mastered the art, just in case he has to do it. Daisho translates into Big Blade, Little Blade; a style that has the user dual wield with a long sword and a short sword, Katana and Wakizashi. This opens up all sorts of combinations, but many have claimed that it is more successful to attempt two blades of similar or equal length, rather than opposing length.
When using these two blades in combination, many possibilities are opened up to Kuroi. When a single, double sided sword is wielded, possibilities close, and many movements become stabs instead of slashes. When you know where one blade is, you automatically know the position of the other. The possibilities are easy to counteract, and you can quite often beat that person fairly easily if you are experienced with the blade. But, with daisho, there are many more possibilities. The enemy does not know the position of both blades from knowing the position of one. The amount of kata sequences and various possible combinations is much higher than a single blade.
Generally, Kuroi does not favor either of the blades for attack or defense. The little blade is used for a quick jabbing stab whenever it attacks, though on occasion he does slash with it, usually to dismember his enemy. The long sword is used for rapid slashes and strikes, formed in great sequences that the enemy has a hard time fighting off. While they're being made to fight this, the small blade can simply come in and attack. It isn't the greatest thing to be facing Kuroi's daisho.
Also, the wakizashi can be used for some Arrancar means. Kuroi is capable of channeling Bala and Cero through the blade, firing them out the tip. However, several Espada can probably do this with their swords. What makes Kuroi's different is that the shape is different when this happens. He has a special technique when firing Cero out of the blade tips like that, which causes the Cero to become shaped like an enormous blade itself, capable of carving through other attacks, instead of just incinerating things. The Bala can also become a blade shape, also capable of carving things up.
The next part of Kuroi's fighting style is very similar to Daisho. This is simply dual wielding; meaning that he uses two long swords, katana blades of equal length. Much more comfortable than Daisho, now the combinations and sequences of the long sword can be used by both blades. But, better yet, the combinations can be broken off still, and Kuroi can generate brand new ones. With this, he has even more new possibilities, unique and custom ones as well. Most enemies will not live to see the sun rise again if they are victim to Kuroi using this style.
While most wield the two blades to attack from different angles at each time, Kuroi spins the blades around an enemy with intense skill. Essentially, the way Kuroi wields it means that the enemy's movement is limited, or they will get cut. It is like he wields 8 blades rather than 2, and enemies will perceive it this way. The intense speed that Kuroi has for his movement is an indication that he can flick his blades around incredibly fast. He can also scissor an enemy's weapon to break it or disarm the foe. This means that they must be careful when trying to guard against Kuroi.
The simplicity of this is that Kuroi can now break his rule of no stabbing. If he slashes someone, and they go to block, he can stab into their hand as they attempt to block. After ripping his blade out of their hand, he will have neutralized that hand. It may even be their main weapon hand, which will mean that they can no longer properly fight him on even terms. Kuroi is right handed, but he has trained his left hand well enough that he can wield his blades almost equally. He cannot wield a single blade equally between right and left, but he can wield two equally.
Kuroi has also perfected another version of his blade Cero or blade Bala technique. By shooting out of both blades at once, he uses a double version of it. By shooting the double version, Kuroi releases an enormous amount of energy. The radius with which the enemy can dodge is incredibly limited, and the block is very unlikely. It is a power that Kuroi has created over a long time. Also, the special "Deka" technique that he uses can be used with both blades also, though it is a last resorted to fire two of them at once.
The final part of Kuroi's sword wielding brings him to using a special variety of wielding, ten blades at once. The problem enemies will have with this it Kuroi's increased capability to stab, not slash. Slashes are easy to block, but with this style it is the stabs that are dominant. There are ten stabbing blades that must be blocked. Most enemies will be unable to block this, and thus they will take severe injuries with each and every launched attack. It should be noted that Kuroi can use any number of blades from one to ten. It doesn't necessarily have to be ten. It's preferred that they're all the same length, but they don't have to be.
On top of that, Kuroi's maneuvering capabilities and his speed allow him to quickly get in three or four strikes with this ten bladed style in the time it would take someone to do one or two. But, since there are ten blades with each strike, this means that the enemy is actually attempting to guard against approximately thirty or forty strikes. It is damn near impossible to guard against, which means that Kuroi will quickly finish an adversary when he uses this style of ten blades. Kuroi can also use a tiger hook sword rather well.
Next, we have one of the most brutal and lethal parts of Kuroi's entire ten bladed style. The ability to use Cero or Bala with each of the ten blades. Ten Bala or Ten Cero, shaped to blades or left normal. How is anyone supposed to be able to defend against that? It really does mean that Kuroi is one of the strongest Espada, if not the strongest, if he can fire that many Cero at once. With this kind of power, it is unlikely that even another Espada can possibly defeat Kuroi Naito.
It's also because of these powers that Kuroi has been named the greatest swordsman ever to exist in Las Noches, and maybe even the greatest ever to exist in Hueco Mundo. Forget power for a moment, Kuroi has enough skill to get rid of enemies that have great power. He doesn't even need his power to fight against the vast majority of foes, his skill is enough to dispatch almost all of them. What good is an enemy if they have no skill?
Next we come to the martial arts that Kuroi can use. The first of these is called Karatedo, Karate for short. During Kuroi's time as a human, he lived where it was required to learn it if you were in the military. As a result, he spent years studying it. By the time he died as a human, he was 8 Dan, a master unparalleled by most. To get to such a high level is an amazing feat. What's more amazing, is to be able to maintain such skill even through hollow life.
The skill followed Kuroi from death to hollow existence, where he remembered everything about this skill. Kuroi learned the capability to use the martial art proficiently with thousands, hundreds of thousands maybe, of possible combinations. The possible combinations are from all the numerous kata that Kuroi has learned and mastered. There are over one hundred kata sequences within this martial art. Kuroi is a master of about 90 of these. Each one has between 20 and 60 movements per sequence. This means that the possible combinations are incredible in number.
With this kind of skill, Kuroi knows that defeating him is nearly impossible. When it comes to non weapon combat, hand to hand, Kuroi is the strongest out of all of the Espada. His ability to use this martial art at such a high level has quickly made it known that he has the ability to kill a Non Espada Arrancar with his bare hands, no powers or even blade. With his strength it is possible to move mountains (metaphor). With Kuroi's skill, with the kind of abilities that he displays, he can be regarded as one of the best.
Even today, Kuroi trains in karatedo. Occasionally he will return to the human world to attempt to continue learning, for there are still ranks to obtain. Only 1% of those that attempt it reach 9 Dan or 10 Dan, and these ranks are said to be impossible to obtain. Still, Kuroi practices in the hope of one day gaining such rank, and holding such prestige and skill that all will fear him, blade or not, powers or not.
The second martial art that Kuroi can employ is known as jiujitsu, also required during his time. Jiujitsu is mainly about taking down an enemy with locks and grabs, though there are other things. There are occasional kicks. But mainly, it is meant to take down and break the bones of an enemy, or even just choke them out or kill them. Basically, all about immobilizing locks, meant to be used for sudden combat, meaning around the corner throw downs.
In this regard, Kuroi has also had many years of practice. 8 Dan in this as well, Kuroi is capable of many kata, or sequences. The amount of combinations that he knows require him to continuously practice whenever he gets the chance, so that he does not rust and his skill does not degrade in the least. Being an Arrancar, Kuroi lives an incredibly long time. This means that he also has the ability to train even harder, and aspire that one day he can reach 9 Dan or 10 Dan in this martial art.
Ten thousand opponents have faced Kuroi in the ring of jiujitsu. Not a single one of them could defeat him. The mastery that he has unlocked is one of the most dangerous weapons that he will ever have at his disposal. Aside from the fact that he can choke out or physically break an enemy without even using his zanpakutou, there is also the fact that he can toy with enemies. When toying, he frustrates them. When frustrated, one is weakened. Kuroi knows this philosophy. Why is this important to his jiujitsu? Because it makes it all the easier to lock or choke them.
What makes Kuroi scary is the aggression. He doesn't lock and immobilize. He is aggressive. He will continue straining the lock until the enemy is broken. That is how he can also ask for information. Kuroi's favorite attacks are arm bars, and the rear naked choke. Both of these are fast and effective, efficient so to say. Kuroi, who operates like a machine, enjoys things that are efficient. Efficiency keeps everything running smooth and well.
Finally, there is the last part of Kuroi's style. His Ressurection. For starters, Kuroi's Primera Etapa. The Primera Etapa that Kuroi employs focuses mainly on efficient weaponry for deleting an adversary. This also means that his speed is the most vital key. The speed is what lets him use these weapons to quickly eradicate an opponent. If he has no speed, or if his enemy is faster than he is, then Kuroi obviously won't be able to win using his Primera Etapa's weapons.
However, that is what his ace techniques of this part are. The ability to slow down an enemy. To strip away their speed. That is Kuroi's strength in Primera Etapa. When he strips away their speed, he asserts himself with a speed greater than the one that they have. By slowing down his enemy, Kuroi gives himself a position in which he can once more use the efficiency of his weapons to deal some heavy and severe damage to the enemy.
And then, there is his Segunda Etapa. With his flight capability and the powers that he has, the new weapons, Kuroi is given the chance to truly break any adversary. But, whereas before he could strip them of their speed, now he can strip them of their Reiatsu. To do this is to truly destroy them. Once they are stripped of Reiatsu, Kuroi can easily crush them.
However, his Primera Etapa is used first at all times, and he never goes straight to Segunda Etapa. This is because Kuroi must first greatly weaken his opponent with Primera Etapa. Sure, his Segunda Etapa is quite strong, but weakening his enemy because using it will guarantee him a victory. Guarantee. Not give a high chance. Guarantee. 100% absolute that he will win if he uses his Primera Etapa in proper conjunction before his Segunda Etapa. And that is Kuroi's power.
Kuroi's improvement and adaption rate, as it should be noted, are off the charts. No one can even be compared to him in terms of improvement and adaption. That is clear. He is truly what some would call a monster in terms of combat ability, especially with his blades, which are quite incredible, really. Below, it will be detailed how he begins to use multiple blades, extending just a ways past two blades.
To begin with, the way Kuroi uses four blades is quite ingenius. Kuroi has a magnificent sense of balance. He CAN keep a blade in his mouth and fight with it, but why do that when he can use other parts? He can use his shoulders, his actual first two blades, or other body parts to balance other blades around and fight with. He can twirl, strike with, and balance out his swords when using them. This makes him a true genius with the sword. Also, he's very well attuned to the feel of his blades, as a swordsman should be.
Therefore, when there is any change, Kuroi knows. Even the tiniest change in pressure of the blade, and Kuroi knows and can react. It's not that his processing and sensory capabilities are extremely high, but it's that Kuroi is adept with his blades, being a master swordsman unlike any other. Furthermore, he can see the reflections of his blades at all times, even when observing an enemy. He can technically see all around him when he uses up to three blades minimum. As a result, he is easily able to keep track of those near him. The swords will reflect incoming enemies even during something like smoke or dust clouds, or anything similar. Only light and blinding distractions will work.

-Appearance-
Height/Weight: [6'3/196 lbs.]
