So, you all have been wondering what this board is for, specifically. I used this to test a new Plugin that I found on the proboards library. Basically, it simulates a Zombie apocalypse. After my test of it, which seems to have confused everyone, here is my explanation of it. I think it's pretty fun.
There are 4 classes:
Civilian, those who do not have any special powers. They simply hope that their presence is not noticed by any zombies.
Zombies, the ever hungry. Zombies have the ability to Bite any non-Zombies. Mechanics of this will be below.
Soldiers, the first line of defense. Soldiers have the ability to shoot Zombies. Again, mechanics later.
Scientists, the last hope. Scientists have the ability to cure Zombies.
The Mechanics:
Soldiers, Scientists, and the Initial Zombies must be decided up front before a game starts. While Soldiers and Scientists and Zombies can be added manually in the Admin Panel, there is no way to move from Civilian to Soldier or Scientist.
Any number of initial Zombies can be selected, as well as Soldiers and Scientists.
At default, which we will play with for now until we get more in depth with the mechanics, Zombies get 3 chances to Bite victims every Hour. There is an 85% chance that the bitten victim will become Infected. There is a 10% chance that the bitten victim will become Immune. There is a 5% chance for the bitten victim to just die.
Characters who are lucky enough to become Immune, if attacked again, have a 5% chance to die. Else, they survive without being infected.
Scientists get 1 chance to Cure Infected Zombies every Hour. There is a 75% chance that the cure will work and the zombie will become a Civilian, regardless of what Class they had before. There is a 25% chance that the attempted cure will just kill the Zombie.
Soldiers get 3 chances to Shoot Zombies every Hour. There is a 60% chance to hit and kill the zombie, a 20% chance that the shot will not kill the zombie, and a 20% chance to miss entirely. (Those last two options are effectively the same, giving bullets a 40% chance at failure.)
At default, a dead character can attempt to revive 1 time per week. There is a 90% chance to revive as a civilian, and a 10% chance to revive as a zombie.
How I plan for this game to go down, for the first few rounds:
We leave it isolated to this board only. The borders and actions will only show up on this board, thus you will have to have posted here to be able to play. I will set up a thread for Participation. Everyone who wants to play will post once, with their top 2 classes. I will pick what everyone will be, then the game will begin. No posts are necessary, such as my lame mock RP of a zombie outbreak. Everything will just happen as people click the buttons below the miniprofile of those you want to effect.
Maybe eventually we will move it out to the whole site for a little while.
Thankfully, those who don't want to play don't have to! In the Settings Tab of your Edit Profile options there is a button to Opt-Out of the game entirely.
