That sound. That god awful sound was playing again. That continuous, annoying, horrible sound was playing to the right of his head. A million voices in his head demanded he hit the snooze button, to remain hidden from the word beneath his two warm blankets. His eyelids put up such a fight with their refusal to be opened, struggling as hard as they could to hold themselves together. But they failed. They failed like they did every morning. Everything was a blur for only a moment before details became clear. The sight of red, flashing, numbers were the first thing that he saw. The screaming alarm clock resting on the dresser, demanding that he wake up and begin his day.
Head dug into his pillow, the young man stared slack jawed at the alarm clock. Everything was becoming clear as he lifted his arm up and slammed it down on top of the clock, shutting it off. "...Fuuuuuugghh" he managed to moan, hiding his face in his pillow for a moment. He knew that if he didn't move he would, without a doubt, fall back asleep. Getting up at six in the morning was rough, something that he just never seemed to get used to. Pushing up with both his arms, the young man made his way out of bed. Instead of just leaving it, though, he turned around and immediately began to make it again. Just another morning ritual that needed to be completed.
Once finished with that he made his way to the small restroom, peeling off the sleep shorts and t-shirt he had worn in bed. Tossing them into a basket under the sink he turned the shower on, before sitting down on the toilet to begin his business. He needed to wait a minute for the water to heat up anyway, so he could use that time to dispense of anything his body had built up over the night. Flushing the toilet he stepped into the shower, waisting no time with both wetting and cleaning his body. White suds followed behind his hand as he rubbed the soap into his skin, leaving no inch of himself un scrubbed.
The bar of soap found itself being dragged across a developed abdomen, leaving behind a trail of small bubbles as it traveled around the young mans hard body. Placing the bar on the little hook apparatus, he grabbed the bar of shampoo and squirted some of the gel in his hand. Scrubbing it into his hair he took a minute to enjoy the warmth of the water, letting the shampoo settle into his hair before scrubbing it out. Once finished with cleaning he turned the nozzle, ending the spray of water against his skin. Reaching through the side of the curtain he grabbed onto the fuzzy purple towel and began drying himself off.
Stepping from the shower, the man was busy sticking the towel in his ear trying to clean it out. Once dry he hung it back up, stepping towards the bathrooms mirror and wiping the condensation from the glass. Looking into the glass he could see himself looking back. A young man with intense grey eyes looked back at him, a wet set of dark gray hair sat upon his head.
Once finished with his washroom duties, along with the various other chores he had to do for himself in the morning, Lee found himself munching on a bowl of breakfast cereal in front of his rather plain television set. Tired eyes watched the moving pictures on the screen, reporting the local news within Karakura Town. Reports of random assaults in the night, a fire at a local store, and various other things. The assaults had caught Lees attention, and normally he would have simply shrugged them off as simple muggins. But now...he was never sure if something was "normal" or not.
After meeting a certain group of people...eye opening was probably the best way to describe it. Shocked, amazed, excited, scared...various things that Lee had felt upon his discovery of the world that nearly 99.9% of the rest of the planet could not see. It was like a secret gentle men's club that you couldn't check out of. So sitting here, watching the news, Lee couldn't help but wonder if these incidents were "normal".
His food finished, he needed to get ready to go to work. Looking into his closet and reaching in, Lees fingers began wrapping around the blue uniform he so often wore. But he stopped himself, suddenly realizing that this wasn't him anymore. The blue uniform, the badge, the belt...it wasn't his life anymore. He hd traded it in for something new, something more paycheck substantial. Yet...he felt bad. Everytime he saw his old uniform he felt guilt. He felt as if he sold out. His apartment was not one that somebody with money would live in. Cheap foods, a cheap tv, everything was low budget. The sort of thing somebody with no money could afford.
The promise of money had swayed Lee. The promise that his debts would vanish had turned him away. He felt as if he had betrayed the force, his partners, and his chief. Even though they had smiled, wished him luck, prayed that his future be bright...Lee couldn't help but feel regret. It wasn't that his new job was bad. It just...didn't feel like he was making any sort of difference anymore. Reaching into the other corner of the closet he retrieved the plastic contained suit that he was required to wear to his new job. He looked it over, eyes narrowing slightly at how...ornate it was. It wasn't the outfit of a security guard, it was the outfit of a general. It just didn't fit him. With a sigh, Lee got ready.------------
"I appreciate the ride." Lee thanked as he shut the door to his cab. Looking up at the massive building that was his new job location, his eyes locked onto the sign that read "Uzaki Enterprise". He blinked, lowering his head slightly as he ran a hand through his short dark hair. He made sure his collar was tucked, tie was tied, and everything was in order before ascending the staircase and pushing the doors in. The sound of clicking was the first thing he heard, turning his head to the right to see the receptionist by the door. "Morning! You must be the new hire for security, right?" she asked, her voice was way too perky for this time of morning. "Yes. Lee Jensen. I may not be in the system yet, but I do have my ID on me if you need to see it." Lee replied, turning towards the desk and pulling his personal identification card from his pocket.
Truth be told, he was still rather new to this building. He had only really just gotten started working after his training had been completed. So, really, today was his actual first day on the job. "Sure! It'll cut the check in process down by at least ninety percent if you have the card." She responded, taking Lees ID from his hand and running it through some form of slider before returning it to him. "Alright Mr. Jensen, welcome aboard! You know where to find your assignments for today?" She asked, smiling up at him. Lee just wanted some coffee. "It's in the office if I remember correctly. Take the hall straight until the third left hall, go right at the second turn and it's right there." He recalled. She nodded, allowing him to move on with his day.
Walking through the building, Lee was still confused about what it was Uzaki Enterprise exactly did. Wandering the halls as he made his way to the office, he peered into rooms and at cubicles and watched the other employees work. Finding his way into the office, Lee both knocked and scanned his ID into the reader allowing the door to open. Walking inside...Lee wasn't sure what to expect. A rather plain looking room with cabinets and shelfs in one corner, a table in the center of the room covered in papers, a sofa against the wall, a fridge, an armory, along with a terminal containing a multitude of camera feeds.
There were three other people in the room with him, all turning towards the young man as he walked in. Smiles immediately adorned their faces. A dark skinned man came walking up to Lee, extending his hand and chuckling. "Well I'll be...you must be the newbie huh? Hah, it's nice to meet you. Name's Wilson. That there's Charles and Yoshi. You're Lee, aint cha?" The man asked, Lee noting the strength of his handshake. "Yeah. You guys already know about me?" Wilson laughed at the newbies reply. "Son, if there's one thing Uzakis is good at is informing its workers when something happens. Welcome aboard, partner. We got your schedule over here." Wilson explained, motioning with his arms towards a terminal in one corner of the room.
"When newbies come aboard we give them a break, start them slow and work them up after they learn the building and people. We were going to throw you on the cameras or on one of the entrances...but as you can see.." Wilson cut off, looking at the other two guards as they watched Lee interact with the terminal. Looking at his schedule, Lee could tell something was off. From 8-11, there was only "Gym 3", while from 11-12:30 was a lunch break and the rest of the shift was standard guard duty. "...gym three? I'm not sure I understand." Lee asked, turning to face his coworkers.
"Orders from the Chief." Wilson nodded his head to the terminal. "Chief? You mean Uzaki-san?" Lee asked, clearly confused. What was going on? Where was the coffee. "Nope. Not the Boss. The Chief." the one named Yoshi suddenly pipped up. "Yeah. That's why you're being given an extra long lunch. Listen, no doubt the Chief knows you checked in now and it's best we don't hold 'em up. Gym three is on the next floor down, follow the signs. We'll see you in a bit rookie. Good luck kid, you'll need it." And like that they were gone, leaving Lee just standing there with a mouth slightly agape. The hell was going on with this place?
Following the directions given to him, Lee managed to find a staircase heading downwards. He was rather surprised at the fact that this place had sublevels, along with gyms. But the sublevel bit was a little bit more surprising. Regardless, Lee let a couple employees pass him on their way up the stairs. Reaching the floor he looked around, noticing a sign that was labeled with the gym and the number he wanted. Walking towards the double doors he knocked on it a few times. It was only polite, after all. Still, it was a gym room so he shouldn't have to knock in the first place. Opening the doors up he casually stepped inside and then blinked in surprise at the room he was in.
It was....massive. Lee saw dozens, if not hundreds, of various workout machines all arranged in perfect rows. It was obvious that this was a place where the heavy duty gym goers would come, given the level of machines and weights he noticed. Lee, also, noticed what appeared to be some sort of...boxing ring? That's what it had to be right? Why did this place...well maybe it wasn't too surprising. No doubt martial arts practice was a great way of relieving stress and working out. But, still, Lee was a little taken back seeing it. But he then noticed the only other person in the room with him, someone he had been summoned to see. His title confusion earlier didn't mean he didn't know who she was.
Walking across the gym he stopped about seven feet from her, arms held behind his back and bowing his head forward. "You wanted to see me, Sir?" He stated. He wasn't actually sure how he was suppose to label her, in all honesty. Sir, ma'am, chief, boss...he just wasn't sure. Sir, for now, was the best option. It meant more than just a gender label, it also showed that Lee saw her as a superior and not as a woman. It was the most respectful term he could given her right now, with his lack of knowledge on what she preferred.
