She could see the disobedience in the young man's eyes but, thankfully, he did not push the issue. Now was not the time not to push authority and punish insolent subordinates. She would hate to ruin such a good-looking face. At this thought, Katrina blinked in surprise and was infinitely grateful that her cheeks were hidden by the trees, as she was sure she was blushing. 'Always at the oddest moments do I notice such aesthetic features. Why does stress turn me into some kind of ... scarlet woman?' She ignored the voice in the back of her head that pointed at that out wasn't always in times of stress.
They were moving again, albeit more slowly, which left Katrina alone with her thoughts. There she drifted, her mind wandering the lined paths of the her memory. She bounced between memories, letting the serene surroundings and her own natural demeanor calm her racing heart and thoughts. This is where she was meant to be; away from the city, away from the filth and smog of the city. Here, in nature, she can unwind. Her thoughts strayed then from safe paths into the wooded murk of the dark recesses of her mind. Here she lurked, cringing at her failures and rejoicing at her memories. Her body was on autopilot, one foot following the other.
But she was vigilant nonetheless. Her eyes scanned from right to left, her feet varied in speed, and she scanned all avenues of approach. It was for this reason that she spotted the creature, like an angel ripped straight from a nightmare. As she readied her Zanpakutou, her lips curled into an expression of disgust. "Tch. Filth." The words were spat like swears. Just as she was prepared to clash with the creature, the Shihoin met claw with talon ... and an ominous rumbling sound filled the air. She spun, her eyes wide, just in time to see the young male pull the mark away and clash with a rodent-like creature covered in brown fur. Katrina's lips pulled into a snarl. "I'll just cover them from here, shall I?" A vicious smirk on her full lips, she sent two bolts of lightning at the creatures, thankful that she was skillful enough to avoid her companions (assuming they avoid her.)
