OOC: I'm just going to work on getting out a post, rather than putting a mass amount of effort into getting a large quantity of paragraphs.
Kazura was unable to maintain his grip on Kazuko's arm as the spell hit his abdomen, sending him skidding back. Even though he had been unable to perform the grapple and cause the kid to be in a position of pain and stress, he had still managed to hit him in the face, earning an honest answer to any question he'd ask. However, the Shinigami didn't look very affected by the hit. In fact, Kazura felt more pain in his hand than he should have felt. The skin already looked black and blue from the bruises that were forming on the skin. Somehow, the kid had turned the force of his attack against him.
There was also the strange magic that the Shinigami had used. The kid had used it before as well, trapping his arms behind him and pushing him around. This magic needed some sort of investigation. It had offensive and defensive uses, and could be potentially devastating if it were more than simple parlor tricks. In order to defend himself against Shinigami, or even work alongside them, if that absurdity would ever happen, he needed to understand the extent of their powers. "You will tell me about your magic, and I will give you your game later."
(OOC: Actions in this post are a bit Cinematic, though, nothing major really.)
The Vice-Captain considered the request for a few seconds, while swinging on the punching bag. He was really enjoying himself there; he got to take a breather from his duties and get games at the same time. It was a win-win for him! Kazuko kept his eyes up, trying to think about how he would respond to his question/demand. The human was really funny when he wanted to be, at least. Kazuko, for some reason or another, was never really bored with him around. “Fair enough,” the Vice-Captain said at last. The bag slowed down as the boy pondered what he would say to the human. Another thought on his mind was how in depth he would go with his explanation of the topic. Fearing that Kazura would get stingy on him, the boy decided to go with the second approach, and dawdle on if he needed to. Maybe the human would get bored of his explanation and not really pay attention; this was certainly in the boy’s benefit, as giving the human too much was certainly a bad thing, or at least he thought it was.
“The magic I use is known as Kido; its an ancient art form said to have been passed down to us by the Soul King himself. It utilizes incantations and reiatsu to manifest itself in different, or exotic, ways. However, if you are skilled enough, you can skip incantations, and use them mentally, if that is your preference.” Kazuko paused, giving himself a small breather to collect his thoughts. “ Kido can be broken down into two distinct groups – both designed for specific uses both in and out of combat. Both groups are based on the same numbering system of strength; it scales from number one all the way to number ninety-nine in terms of power, respectively.” Again, the Vice-Captain stopped, an idea popping into his head designed to drive the point home. Kazuko released one of his hands from the chain, index finger out, and pointed it toward one of the robots set along the wall. “This, for example, is Hado #4: Byakurai” As soon as he finished saying the name, a bolt of pale lightning erupted from his finger-tip, crackling in the air.
The bolt raced forth and pierced one of the machines dead center in the chest, sending a wave of electricity, both artificial and magical into the air. When the smoke filtered away, there was a smoldering hole where the spell had struck; more so, there was a hole behind the entry location of the lightning bolt that ventured for quite a way in the wall behind the robot. Smiling to himself, Kazuko continued, “Hado are the spells that are offensive in nature, based on how high the number of the spell is, the destruction brought by it usually scales up as well.” The Vice-Captain returned the hand that he had used for the spell, and brought it back to the chain. “The second category, Bakudo, are quite different in their application and nature as well. They play more of a support role, and are not based on offense. For example, some create shields, while others bind, like Hado #1: Sai, the spell I used on you when we first met. They have numerous applications and can go beyond just that.” Again, the Vice-Captain paused for a moment, considering his actions, before a grin spread along his face.
“This, for instance, is Bakudo #21: Kyakko.” Like before, as soon as he finished with the spell name, his body shimmered completely out of view. The bag continued swinging in the air, but there was no one on it. Well, at least not anyone Kazura would be able to see. A few moments later, the light around the bag shimmered again, and Kazuko was exactly where he had been before, sitting on the bag. Grinning, the Vice-Captain piped, “Kido, as you can tell, are quite useful for Shinigami. On a final note, depending on the Shinigami, spells can either be weaker or stronger depending on their Reiatsu and skill level. In regards to that, the spell of a Captain, while maybe low in number, could very well be colossal in both size, power, and destructive capabilities when compared to a Vice-Captain like me.” Kazuko stopped there, as he realized he might have given a bit too much information as it was. No need spoiling things when Kazura could offer up a huge quantity of games for things that were common knowledge for spiritual beings.

This Kido was an interesting power. The bolt of lightning gave Kazura some ideas, and amusingly he already had a way of replicating Kyakko. As Kazuko swung, the Uzaki donned his suit and helmet. The kid was amusing, and Kazura was starting to warm up to him. However, he was also starting to perfect a defense against him. His reactions were at the peak of human athletic ability, and his analysis abilities were quite powerful. After having seen Kazuko at his top speed repeatedly, the human had started to fine tune his reactions. Before long, they would be fighting toe to toe at the same level, even if Kazura was slower.
And now, for a taunt, to get the fighting going again. They were usually effective, especially if you hit a nerve that people were sensitive about. The inventor wasn't completely sure what made Kazuko tick, just yet, but he was good at understanding people more so than he was good at understanding the movements of people's bodies in combat. His long years of martial arts training helped him with the latter one, but his mind was exceptional at understanding people. So, Kazura taunted his opponent. "If your magic is so special to you, then you'll want to watch this."
Suddenly, Kazura disappeared from sight. It was similar to Kyakko, except in this case Kazura's eyes were still visible. As he turned his head to keep direct eye contact from ruining his invisibility, he silently moved around the room. By force of will he let the lights dim to levels too low to cast shadows, making the whole room eerie. He spoke just once before completely hiding in the middle of the room, keeping himself from being seen by Kazuko. "What makes your magic better than my tech if they can do the same things?"
Kazuko swung forward and backward on the punching bag a bit carelessly as Kazura began taunting him on his Kido. Not until the lights dimmed drastically, and the man disappeared, did the boy finally stop swinging on the bag and shrugged his shoulder to allow the butterfly to leave. “Wow… you humans really are something, you know that?” The boy then crossed his legs over and away from the bag, allowing his body to fall and land on the floor. On the floor, the youth wiped a few drops of sweat off his forehead with his sleeve, and scanned the room around to no avail. The Vice-Captain did not have enough awareness with his sensory to pick out the spirit ribbon of the human, but even so, he was not all too worried. “What makes my magic better, eh?” Kazuko said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully at the question Kazura had asked earlier. “If they can do the same thing, then nothing really sets them apart, I give you that. Though, at this point, your technology can’t compare to my magic just yet.”
Well, if I can’t see him or detect him, guess I should just go with option C. With that, the Vice-Captain waved his hand across his chest, flinging it out. Immediately, there would be a gust of force in all directions around his body, sending Kazura, along with Kazuko, flying. Kazura would find himself traveling at about 240 speed backward from his location, into the other side of the room. On the other hand, the Vice-Captain would shoot up himself upward, but would stop himself, after a few moments, with advanced air-ground. The human, of course, would run into the trouble of avoiding collision with the objects in the room, and of course, the walls. But even so, Kazura was not unfamiliar with traveling at speeds close to the one he was traveling at, so he would likely find some way to deal in all regards. The Vice-Captain had used Surasorutoiera, or Area Thrust as it was also known, to push everything around his body with a Sho-like force. Since Kazuko did not really know where Uzaki was, the next go to thing was to hit everything at once. Not very elegant, but still, it had its uses, like in this situation.
“Not sure if that counts for another 'hit', but lets say it does for arguments sake.” Kazuko said, giggling to himself with childish amusement, but it was a light-hearted and innocent sort of laugh. This was fun! “You want to play another game, or keep playing this one?” The key word here was “game”. To the boy, this whole spar had turned into a fun and cool game, with prizes and everything if he got a good enough score. Kazura would likely start realizing, if he hadn’t already, that beneath all that “Gotei this” and “Shinigami and Balance stuff,” Kazuko was really just a kid that wanted to have some fun every now and then, like with goofing off and eating candy. A lot of the seriousness from when they had met had evaporated, what with that whole Quincy scenario, and Kazuko was behaving like a carefree little kid, and he didn’t mind showing Kazura this side of himself apparently. “Oh, almost forgot, want some more chocolate? I brought a lot with me, and I don’t mind sharing since your being so nice to me.” Kazuko said, smiling and laughing, without any trace of sarcasm or malice. As it was, he was actually being sincere – more like innocent really. Though, the question was if Kazura would encourage this sort innocent and carefree behavior or just stop it there and set boundaries. Kazuko was a Shinigami afterall, even if he was kid too.

Kazura did not expect what followed. Kazuko couldn't see the inventor, so instead of searching for him, he just attacked the whole dojo at the same time. Equipment went flying as if it was hit by a car, also sending the Japanese human flying. His cameras shorted out, revealing his presence as he went skidding backwards quickly. From his place on the ground, he watched as Kazuko stopped himself with his hand, creating some sort of Air ground ceiling. The older man picked himself up off the ground, observing the utility of this ground. It was possible that it wasn't as common, since other people that Kazura had fought would have been helped greatly by the ability to use this ceiling. Either way, it wasn't something that Kazura could do, but more data for his research.
Kazura chuckled at the boy's comment, both about the chocolate and the hit. "That makes me short two games, then? Also, you should only get to count that one as a hit if I get to also. Since you hit yourself to hit me. That makes you owe me an answer. I'd like you to tell me about that false body that is lying over there in the corner where it... violently landed after your... kidou." As Kazura made his way over to Kazuko, he accepted a piece of the chocolate, letting it melt in his mouth as he listened to Kazuko explain about the Gigai. He didn't know what they were called, yet, but he would find out. And he would be playfully stubborn about being owed an answer after Kazuko hit himself with his own Kidou in order to oust the inventor.
“My Gigai, huh?” Kazuko mumbled to himself, turning back to where it had landed, plopped against the back wall. He winced a bit, realizing that the next time he entered that shell, he would feel a lot more than just some discomfort. After a few moments of consideration, the boy nodded in agreement and flew to the other side of the room. Kazuko rummaged through his backpack, making note to only pull out one chocolate bar for Kazura, and leave the rest inside the pockets. Unfortunately, without a physical body, and without the proper equipment to convert the chocolate treat into spiritual energy, he would have to wait to have his share of candy. Regardless, he walked back, handing the human the piece of chocolate, and smiled as Kazura enjoyed the piece of candy. “Alright then! I’ll tell you all about our Gigai!” The Vice-Captain clapped his hands together as if to signal the start of his lesson, until something caught the corner of his eye. Those nice shiny robot things in the corner of the room had been knocked down after the Area Thrust, causing several panels to open up on some of their backs. In those panels, there seemed to be a few tantalizing buttons that drew the boy in. “Hmm… I’ll tell you about them from over there… I, uh, want to make sure those robots are okay, you know?” He feigned a nervous laugh, then ran over to them.
“Gigai, for starters, are nothing more than bodies made by the Division of Technology and Development – Aka, Squad Twelve.” Kazuko suddenly began, as he kicked one of the robots to see if it would move or not. “They are grown similar to how a regular human body is, with one exemption: they have no soul. These bodies, or vessels to be more exact, are used by Shinigami who have to spend long sums of time in the Land of the Living, or need to work undercover.” The boy, as he said this, stood on top one of the metal bodies, and began jumping, in a vane hope to get the thing to respond. After a few hops, he stopped to catch his breath and continued, “Shinigami, as you probably guessed, are not immortal, nor are we all-powerful. There are times where we are pushed past our limits, and have to recuperate our strength. However, Reiatsu in the Land of the Living is not as plentiful as it is in Soul Society. For that reason, Gigai are often used as vessels where we can gather up our strength from the environment around us, so that we can continue our missions, or make it back home.” Finally, after trying for almost a minute, the boy began to press a few random buttons all at once on one of the exposed panels of a robot.
“Furthermore, Gigai can be made with special characteristics or talents in mind as well. Such as, some are made to have peek endurance, strength, or speed, while others can be made to maximize the senses of the Shinigami who inhabits them. Of course, all these specializes are made within human limits, and do not make the Shinigami any stronger. On a final note, Gigai take up the appearance and body type of the Shinigami who inhabits them as well; this process is made to be instant the moment a Shinigami first takes control of the body, but can be altered upon request to the Division of Development. For that reason, my Gigai over their looks and feels like me, despite being a physical fabrication of a generic human body.” Kazuko, as he pressed the buttons on the machine carelessly, noticed some of the buttons on the panel light up in patterns, and a few beeping noises go off. Without wait, the mechanical body stood up, awing the boy with amazement. Yay! It works! Its alive! He ran back over to where Kazura was, pulling on the fabric underneath his armor trying to get his attention. “Kazura! Kazura! How do I get that thing to play with me?” He pointed over to the lone robot, eyes filled with anticipation.

A body... without a soul? A fabricated shell of a person that a Shinigami can just squeeze inside like it is a costume. How... interesting. The Shinigami were incredibly advanced technologically, impressively so, even if they did still choose to remain in old Japanese attire and carry around swords. And yet, some of them were still behind the times. Kazuko was not of this "Squad Twelve", the Division of Technology and Development, his badge and uniform identifying him as being of Squad Nine. Whatever that Squad was responsible for was a mystery to Kazura, but he at least had some new terminology to use. Francis Grin had been of Squad 11, and Taien had not been from a Squad. This was interesting, and would need further investigation. There were at least twelve squads, each responsible for something different. Possibly something... sinister.
These Gigai were amusing to Kazura. They could be designed to have better characteristics, however they seemed to be nearly universally a hindrance rather than an asset. They were fully focused on disguise, and could not increase the attributes of the Shinigami, only lower them to human levels and then attempt to restore them slightly to the original powers of the Soul Reapers. As Kazuko talked, Kazura watched him try to force his robots to work with brute force, trying to kick them and jump on them. As he did so, he'd notice that his foot might be hurt quite a bit from kicking the robot, as it was extremely durable. When the boy got to the panel, however, Kazura stepped in and stopped him.
"The manual overrides won't help you much if you wish to play with these. Push that big yellow button for me and then I'll let you play with it." The panel in the back had some buttons, yes, but they wouldn't do much besides turn the robot on. The big yellow button was the full activation button, and would allow the robot to move and act. However, this robot wasn't on autopilot. Most of Kazura's equipment and technology had benefited greatly from some advances he had made in mentally activated and controlled sensors, that responded to thoughts and willpower. As a result, Kazura would be piloting the robot against Kazuko.
"You look very tired, Shinigami, and I've seen your physical strength is lacking. As such, I don't believe that you'll be able to do much to this robot you've selected. She's a prototype made with extremely durable materials designed to absorb tank fire" Or maybe a single punch from that XSG... After working with Pavel, one of the physically strongest human beings on the planet, Kazura had designed a very expensive alloy of steel that was made out of nanometer thick springs. These springs layered together in between each layer of steel allowed for it to absorb a massive amount of raw force and compress as much as it needs to in order that the shock might be cushioned. Pavel needed four full powered strikes to tear through it, while regular steel he could rip in half like it was a tissue.
The robot had four arms, two with big meaty hands and two with hammer like appendages on them. It moved by way of caterpillar treads that could rotate omnidirectionally. It wasn't particularly fast, nor strong, but its durability was unmatched. This robot could absorb physical strengths that exceeded any alive human being that wasn't a fullbringer, and could shrug off a cannonball. It would take a massive amount of force or power to rip through the robot, and Kazura was counting on Kazuko to be able to hurt it considerably. "Oh, and one more thing... If you want this toy to be actually fun, before doing anything else you'll touch that glass circle on its chest. Trust me, it'll make everything so much more fun.
If Kazura did touch the circle, 100 reiatsu would be pulled out of his body and would enter the robot. It would be strengthened by this reiatsu, and would possess an equal defensive reiatsu strength as the Shinigami, making it unable to be cut by his Zanpakutou, easily, and needing a kidou spell of great power in order to fully disable it. If Kazuko decided that he didn't trust the human, or just didn't want to have fun, he could refrain from touching the battery pack at the center, but he wouldn't have much fun if he could merely glide through the human materials like paper. This short game would be much more fun if it was actually a challenge. There was no threat to his life, just a threat to his entertainment.
Feeling excited, Kazuko pressed the yellow button as instructed, and watched as the robot, which had been motionless before, came to life. The huge machine was quite cumbersome and slow, but it looked like it was intended for durability than anything else. Not that it mattered to the boy; he was just so happy to see it moving. “To think that machines could move like that without souls… amazing!” Kazuko said to himself, in awe of the contraption. The human spoke then, commenting on the state of the officer’s stamina and any attempt he would make in trying to destroy the machine. He had to admit that he was tired already; all that playing around had winded the boy more than he cared to share. Likely, he would find himself sore come tomorrow morning, with a nagging zanpakuto spirit in his ear to make fun of him. Still, it had been fun, so the Vice-Captain could not regret the time he had spent there. Plus, it looked like he had made a friend out of Kazura, which had not really been his goal at all, quite frankly. Deciding to take up the challenge, the hovered over where the battery was located on the robot, and placed his hand over it. Immediately, a portion of his Reiatsu was siphoned off, and the boy backed away a fair distance.
“Okay then, this sounds fun! This will be the first time that I ever got to blow up a robot.” The Vice-Captain said, leveling a palm forward at the lumbering machine. A crimson sphere materialized at the center of the palm, and the boy wordlessly enchanted the orb, causing it to grow in size. Kazuko commented to the human, “This spell is Hado #31: Shakkaho; it’s a basic destruction technique that fires a concentrated mass of Reiatsu.” Without waiting any further, the boy released the orb, allowing it to expand to its full size, before it impacted the robot. With an offensive value of 576, it had already exceeded the strength of the Reiatsu that it had absorbed from Kazuko, so it was now a question of how much damage it could take. Of course, the boy did not expect it to take much of his Reiatsu either way; it was still a physical object, so spiritual power was usually the way to go in destroying them. Then again, if the machine was still functioning, that would mean that the boy would either have to focus more power into the spell, or use another one entirely. Both options did not seem like bad alternatives anyway.
“Did you see that, Kazura? I hope so! Your robots are so cool too! I was wondering…” Kazuko finished, meekly. He continued, casting an all-too optimistic look toward the human, “How much would it cost to build me a robot like that one? Well, not that big, of course, it would need to fit inside my room. I mean, as a pet. My parents don’t let me keep animals at home, but they never said anything about machines.” He giggled a bit, imagining the look on his parent’s faces if he could show them a robotic companion. Of course, Kazuko would have to pay Squad Twelve too to have the machine converted into spiritual particles, but that was well worth the price of having a unique friend to play with. The only question here was whether Kazura was willing to build him one or not. The boy hoped that he would; it would be so awesome to have a robot as a pet! He would never have to worry about feeding it, or cleaning it, or even taking care of it. The thing could always be there by his side when he needed to relax and stuff. With those thoughts in mind, Kazuko continued to beam toward Kazura, waiting for his reply.

The Shakkaho wasn't particularly strong in Class, though it was wordlessly incanted to be stronger. So, when the explosive Kidou struck the robot, it sent the thing skidding backwards with some burn marks, but the machine looked no worse for the wear. It rolled forwards, swiping with its hands to try and hit Kazuko in the side. It wasn't particularly fast, so dodging it would be pretty simple, though where was the fun in that? As Kazuko talked, whether he dodged or not, the inventor would respond to his queries while also thinking up a proper answer. "That's an interesting spell, for sure. However, about the robot... One like this costs one hundred thousand dollars per square foot of armor, not to mention the costly electronics. A smaller one would possibly cost you... five hundred thousand for just a robot and no other fun things like weapons."
While this was definitely a fair estimate in cost, Kazura did not expect the kid to be able to front the very high cost of high technology. To have something be mentally controlled as Kazura was doing was very unheard of in the mortal technological realm. They were playing with games that could read brute brain activity, and Kazura was working with weapons that could respond to specific commands. The gap in technology was immense, and the billionaire inventor was in the thick of it. This science obtained from the spiritual realm was making him even more filthy rich than he already was, and he was loving it. "Surely you have something a little more powerful than that Shakkaho?"
Robot Durability: 89%

Kazuko whistled at loud after the smoke cleared, and the robot continued to lumber forward, with only a few burn marks as signs of damage. These things were pretty durable if they could withstand a Shakkaho from the Vice-Captain. Then again, the boy was wearing his Limiter, but the fact that anything in the Land of the Living could deal with that level of damage and continue to function was still impressive. “You make good products, Kazura.” the Shiba said to the man, complimenting his handiwork. It made sense to the boy now why making machines like these was so expensive. Though, that did leave the boy in a problem at the moment. The Vice-Captain ducked underneath the swinging limb, and stepped out of the way; it was not particularly fast though, but he had to assume there was some give and take when making the thing. The boy continued, his voice excited again, “Okay then, Kazura. I might have to save up a few months of pay to afford the pet, but it’ll be worth it. My parents don’t like it when I bring stray animals home with me, but a robot would take the cake.” He was a bit giddy with the prospect of finally having a pet, so much so that he almost missed the second part of what the human had to say.
“More powerful than a Shakkaho? Sure, I do. But…” The Vice-Captain was hesitating a bit to see if he should really use a stronger spell than the first one. His Reiatsu was nearly depleted, and the only way around that would be to release his Limiter, but that seemed to be a waste. On the other hand, if he used a higher leveled spell, then the boy would be giving the human more and more knowledge about his Kido, which might come back to haunt him later on. Though, at that point, it seemed to be a wasted effort. People like Kazura had a tendency to not let something go when told to do so. Kazuko relented. “Okay, then. I’ll show you a spell that’s a few notches stronger than a Shakkaho. I’ll even let you hear a verbal incantation to boot.” The Vice-Captain raised and leveled his left palm toward the massive robot, and began to channel his Reiatsu. Lightning crackled around his extended forearm and converged at the apex of his palm. “Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle! Hado #63: Raikoho!”
By the time the incantation had finished, the ball of lightning at his palm had already grown in size, peeking at through the gaps in his fingers. Kazuko released the Raikoho, and sent it barreling toward the machine. There was a considerable difference in the level of both the spells that the boy had used, so he expected the machine to have a harder time trying to cope with the damage and power. Though, at the moment, the Shiba seemed not to pay the machine or the eccentric man any mind. The boy was bent forward, bracing his hand against the tops of his thighs, breathing quite roughly and damp with sweat. The Vice-Captain was already tired, and using spells with his poor stamina took its toll from time to time. He may have been a Shinigami and an officer, but he was still young and had not developed any real endurance. It was the price he paid for being born with a strong pressure, or so his parents liked to tell him when they talked to him about his health. Still, it took a bit before Kazuko righted himself off, and brushed the sweat off his brow. “Sorry about that. I get tired really easily if I’m not careful. He smiled and continued, “Now, about that robot pet… would it be alright if I met with you to make the it after I saved up enough for it? I don’t really want to ask my parents for the money, since I want to earn this thing by myself. Does that sound alright?”

The lightning blast called Raikoho was definitely awe inspiring. Kazura was definitely impressed by the big stream of lightning and reiatsu, especially when it destroyed the robot completely by severing the head. The human had wanted to test a couple more things about the force that had bruised him when he struck the boy, but with that show of power, he couldn't do anything but stand back and watch in awe as the sprinklers came on just over the robot, putting out the fire nearly immediately.
It was very clear that Kazuko was exhausted and done with their little game. He was extremely excited about the robot pet, and while it meant Kazura would definitely have to study robotics a bit more, it could still be done. The kid looked excited, and for a moment possibly had forgotten about all the games he was owed. Maybe the prospect of the robot overrode the previous stipulations for their little game that had taken a toll on both of the two fighters.
Kazura had only one last question for the teen before he was sent on his way. "That sounds fine. All of my equipment is made to order, the designs checked over by clients before they pay, so they can be satisfied with their product. However, one last question for you. Since you have forbade me from hunting Hollows and protecting my world, and seem to be checking up on me from time to time, is there any way that a human like I could gain the power of Hollow 'purification', so that we didn't have to destroy the soul?" It was a shot in the dark, but where there was hope, there was a small chance of victory. If Kazura found a way that humans could hunt hollows safely without the Shinigami interfering, then victory would surely be his.
Kazuko stayed silent for a moments, and replied, “No, Kazura. There is no way for a human to posses the powers of purification. That authority rests solely with Shinigami.” Unlike his attitude before, the boy was blunt with his reply. His reply, however, left the room in an awkward silence – well, almost silent. The sprinklers were a sort of background noise for the moment. The Vice-Captain carefully walked over to his Gigai, already getting ready to leave. He had spent quite a large amount of time there, and it was about time that he should leave and think up an excuse of why he stayed for so long. As he walked over to his fallen body, however, the Vice-Captain continued to process the question that the vigilante human had proposed to him. Did he deserve a straightforward answer? The Shiba had not been completely honest with the man, to be fair. Although, he had not lied to Kazura either, he still felt bad about the whole thing. While it was true that a human could not possess the powers of purification, the case was not the same toward other spiritual beings, namely, Fullbringers. The Vice-Captain, however, did not know whether to trust the human with that sort of information, or whether he was worthy of that. Kazuko valued the Gotei above most things, and handing out its authority was no simple matter, since he took his job quite seriously, despite his appearance.
The Vice-Captain withdrew his zanpakuto from his scabbard, and plunged it forward, into the air. A ripple seeped into existence as he turned the blade like a key, bathing the room with light, before a set of wooden doors appeared. From the other side, a brilliant light flooded the paper covering of the door, masking whatever was there. With the Senkaimon open, it was just about time to leave; he would need to sent his Gigai over to the Twelfth Squad for repairs once he got back to the Barracks. “I guess it’s about time that I leave; if I stay any longer, I may not want to leave.” He joked to himself, unaware that his attitude had done a complete 360 since arriving at the building. Did he really have that much fun? Kazuko lifted the legs of his Gigai, prepared to drag it into portal, until he hesitated once more. Maybe he could trust Kazura? Just this once. If anything, there was nothing to lose with what he had to say next. Uncertain, Kazuko began, “Listen, Kazura, there might not be a way for a human to posses the power and authority to cleanse a soul, but the same is not true for… Fullbringers. There is a way for you to get what you seek.” The Vice-Captain hesitated once more, gathering his thoughts and his breath. Damn, his Gigai was heavy; too much candy maybe.
“There is a rank within the Gotei Thirteen that allows Non-Shinigami like yourself to use the power and authority of soul purification: the Substitute Shinigami. They are given privileges befitting a Soul Reaper, and carry out the duties of the Gotei while they live here in the Land of the Living. It’s a position that comes with its own tests and supervision, but someone like you could surely gain the rank…” Kazuko left the question hanging in the there for a few seconds for Kazura to take in. Seconds later, he continued, his voice firmer, finally voicing that question, “Do you want to become a Substitute Shinigami, Kazura Uzaki? It would solve your current predicament about Soul Purification, and make you apart of the Gotei. You would join an organization that has maintained balance for eons, and bring peace and rest to those who have lost their path. This might be a lot to take in, but the Gotei Thirteen could find use with someone with your talent. What do you say? You don’t have to give an answer right now; I could leave a Hell Butterfly with you, so you could request the presence of a Shinigami to give your answer when you made up your mind.” By the end of his proposal, Kazuko felt a bit uncertain as to what exactly the man would give as a reply. Would Kazura actually be willing to join them, or would he refuse the boy?

As Kazuko unlocked the gate into the Soul Society with his sword, Kazura could only shake his head. He knew for sure that he did not want to join the Soul Society. He could not join the people who tried to kill him for hunting hollows. Especially not now, knowing that fullbringers could be given the ability to purify hollows. He was inwardly seething with rage. How could the Soul Society not share this power readily? It had not been offered to him before, no, they would rather kill a human than offer the one who wanted to help a chance at protecting the earth. No, Kazura could not join them.
"I'm afraid that I can't accept your offer. I don't really have a reason to give to you. Farewell, Shinigami."
Kazuko frowned at the answer from the man, but was he really that surprised? The boy should have expected as much from Kazura, someone who seemed to have a problem with the status quo and the Gotei in general. But that was unavoidable. There was a reason things worked the way they did, and one man was not enough to change them, or so the boy thought as he sighed and glanced around for something in the room. The Vice-Captain raised his spiritual pressure, and beckoned the Hell Butterfly that he had brought with him to his finger tip. With a few muttered words, the Shiba gave his finger a small flick, and sent the butterfly over to Kazura, despite any argument against it he might have. “If you ever change your mind, use that Hell Butterfly by pouring a bit of Reiatsu into it. Consider it a gift, since you’ve already given me so much.” Kazuko said, smirking childishly to the adult in front of him. Hesitantly, he continued, “You can also use it to, um, send for me. I would rather that you left my squad members alone, thank you very much.” He laughed at that, and moved to pick up the legs of his Gigai. Letting go of a leg momentarily, the boy snapped his fingers, causing the door behind him to shimmer and then open, bathing the room with even more radiance.
The Shiba dragged the body into the mouth of the door frame, and stopped momentarily. It seemed he had one last thing to say to the human before he left back to his own home away from there. His tone serious, Kazuko began, “Kazura, please be careful. There are those within the Gotei that are not as open-minded and accepting as I am, and they may harm you if you openly defy the Gotei. Take this seriously, if you can. You may have made a friend out of me, but there are twelve other Vice-Captains that may not accept you like I have. I’m not the strongest, fastest, or the most powerful of the thirteen Vice-Captains, so be warned of their strength.” The boy looked uncertain as to why exactly he was saying those words to the human now. Did he really think of Kazura as a friend? He had called him as much earlier, but did the other man feel the same way about him? Regardless, he felt enough closeness to the man to reveal just what he was up against if continued to follow his own agenda, and disregard the mandates of the Gotei. There was reason the Gotei was not known as a merciful organization after all. They had been the cause of more deaths and extinctions than probably any other race, and had subjugated most other races under their dominion. That was the price of balance, or so the instructors in the Academy had told Kazuko a few years ago.
“Finally, if you ever find yourself in front of a Shinigami with a white robe, please run and keep yourself safe. The Thirteen Captains of the Gotei are among the strongest beings, and are the brunt of our combat strength. Even at my full strength, with both my Limiter and sword released, I am nothing but an ant to any of them, ready to be crushed at a whim. Keep that in mind if you ever come across one of them, and let it fuel your wariness.” It seemed that the boy was genuinely worried about Kazura; from his encounters with the human, he realized that he was someone stubborn, so he would likely not change his actions very much. That meant that he would probably be a problem for the Gotei in one way or another later on in the future if left unchecked. It left the boy aching inside to realize that the new friend he had made may in fact find his untimely end at their hands. Was the price of balance really that high? With a tired smile, Kazuko waved at the human, and said, “Be safe, Kazura.” With their goodbyes said, the boy pulled his Gigai completely through the portal, disappearing out of sight, and allowed the doors of the Senkaimon to close; after a few seconds, the whole structure shimmered out of existence, ending their latest encounter.
