Zou, you have been volunteered by myself to demonstrate a point to us.
Slace brags way too much. Sit him down if you please.
Zen, his current accepted character, under conditions of this thread would be allowed to be maxed out, and would battle Kuroi. I say Slace can't even push Kuroi to release. He says Zen can. I want to see proof of that.
He was gonna challenge Adalo, but IMO? He's not worth the effort by the Primera. SO I volunteered one rank lower, which is still probably too much, but Kuroi represents despair so it's fitting.
A scream tore through the valley, echoing from the bottom of the enormous chasm. Its shrill screaming pierced the air even miles away, even high in the sky where the light shone. Within the large rift which separated two enormous cliffs of land, something was happening. If one were to arrive at the scene, they would find blood. There was blood everywhere. It was sprayed across the wall nearby, splattered across the ground. The chasm was very wide, and had two walls on either side. It was very, very wide, and this just happened to be near one of the walls. Other than the walls however, there were few to no features, and there were no hiding places. Its purpose was not to hide, but to battle and to fight.
The blood belonged to a dozen corpses that littered the ground. All of them were Shinigami, and had been left dead with their guts splayed out in exhibition for all to see. Their murderer was a man with black shoes, shiny. They were dress shoes, some of the finest that had ever been seen, not to mention some of the most expensive. The man had matching black dress pants, and an untucked white dress shirt, ruffled to go along with it. While this looked a little bit messy, it was a nice match for his unruly, short black hair, which in turn was a nice match for his black tie and the black, unbuttuoned, three button blazer which he wore to complete the outfit. Sheathed at his side was a sword, his Zanpakuto.
The man that was standing there had blood all over another blade, black as night, with a slight curve at the start to make it appear almost like a lightning bolt. A small flash of violet light, and the blade vanished into thin air, after of course the man had cleaned it. The light from the sun above penetrated into the valley, but only slightly. It was bright enough to see easily, yet it was neither blinding nor hot, and there was plenty of shade as well, not that it was needed. Like a hawk, his black eyes darted mercilessly around, searching for his target, his victim. These eyes that he held were cold like steel, and tough. They were without emotion. There was no grievance, guilt, or forgiveness in his mighty eyes.
He kept walking after killing the Shinigami. Their patrols had probably been here for the same reason that he was, or at least similar. Recently, Shinigami had been touring less known regions to search for Hollows, weak or powerful, which might pose a threat if left alone for long enough. Hollows that were left hidden and in isolation could pose problems during missions that required these isolated locations, or they could be recruited or worse by those that enjoyed isolated locations to plot, such as the Vandenreich. The Shinigami recently had been scouring all of the human world's most isolated areas, hoping to ensure that no hidden enemies could pop up, nor anyone who could be recruited by hidden enemies.
A similar reason had brought this man to the valley. It was nothing so important as to be warranted by Las Noches. It had merely been a paid job, for finances that could be used to start off his new Fraccion members in purchasing items for themselves. He was being paid to murder a Hollow that had been sighted here. The Hollow was not particularly dangerous, nor had it even wronged many people. Its reiatsu however was difficult to conceal, and its presence near a little-known spiritual tavern was known to scare off guests, who thought that it might be dangerous. As a result, they had put a price on its head. The price was difficult to ignore, and the man opted to find a way to get that money.
He was Kuroi Naito, Segunda Espada. The Segunda Espada was ranked #2 in Las Noches, where the mightiest of the Arrancar, Hollow and Shinigami mix breeds, were ranked and called the Espada. They ranged from 10-1, or in the understanding of the inner fold, 0-9. The smaller the number, or the closer to 1 or 0, the more powerful the Espada. Kuroi, being #2, was considered second strongest, or third strongest if one counted #0, the Cero Espada. However, his name was legendary more than the others. He was a mighty Arrancar whose very name inspired fear and Despair in all of those that heard it. He was powerful, and everyone knew it. Few could ever be as powerful as Kuroi. Few would ever even touch his boots in power.
Business as usual at the tavern, nobody would suspect the incoming approach of the segunda. Not a soul would know except of course for the owner. Zen knew where he was almost immediately. However Zen would not suspect a single thing. he was after all a tavern owner and cook. As far as he knew the segunda was coming for lunch, perhaps a drink. Zen was both owner and head cook of the tavern simply called "the hole" in reference to its owner being a hollow. Zen's usual clients were rogue shinigami or arrancar occasionally a bount or quincy. shinigami only ever came to start fights and as most regulars knew causing trouble usually ended up with a cero down your throat.
Zen was regarded as the best cook in three worlds. but regarless of this fact he was still a hollow and so most beings tried to murder him. His tavern had multiple "bouncers" of varying race and power. however they were typically just for show. most people never tried anything. people were simply scared off as potential customers or potential enemies when they saw the force at Zens disposal. he scared enemies off. but really he wasn't particularly dangerous or violent. he sort of just hung out and ran a business. relatively successful despite the challenges. today he was slammed. the entire tavern was full he could barely keep up with the orders.
he had one of his techniques active so that he could keep track of certain individuals in the tavern. he walked into the main room with stacks of trays and drinks on each of his eight hands. "order up!!" the tavern cheered as zen dispensed the orders across the tavern. "sorry everyone but the kitchen is closed for 2 hours."the tavern gave a great groan at this news. "HOWEVER!!! the arena is open. go down-stairs. combat is officially allowed while in the basement so long as the upstairs isn't effected." cheers all around. For those who actually hugn out and followed the rules Zen had a fairly entertaining restaurant. he was proud of it. yet today he would face some bad news.
The enemy was there, in that tavern. Locating a tavern in the middle of an enormous canyon had been foolish. Perhaps travelers would often pass by here, and that might be good for business, but a mistake had been made by the tavern's owner. The fact that it had been located in this valley meant that few would know it existed, and none would miss it should it be destroyed and its occupants killed. None would ever even be any the wiser for it. Kuroi took aim at the tavern, sensing the reiatsu that he was seeking out. There was only one Hollow there, and it was easy enough to spot as well. His left palm aimed at the tavern from afar, Kuroi prepared to destroy it with a Bala. However, he was stopped shortly thereafter by a hand reaching out and placing itself on his arm. Kuroi looked up, regarding who had come with him.
"Explain your presence to me, Shiroi." Kuroi demanded of the Exequias Leader, clad with no shirt to cover his tanned and muscular torso. The man in black leather pants and with silver hair regarded Kuroi coolly. In recent months, he had become a sort of acting liaison between Kuroi and the rest of Las Noches. Others that were sent to bring Kuroi back were often killed, and thus getting his attention was difficult. Shiroi, who could get Kuroi to return without dying, was often the messenger that Kouhai sent to bring the Segunda Espada back for briefing. Kuroi was never any threat in terms of betraying Las Noches, but he did have things to do, and hated being called back to his own world of Hueco Mundo.
"Kouhai-Sama sends a message." Shiroi explained to the Segunda Espada without emotion to his voice. "After you are finished here, you are to kill Kouen Akarui of Escudo." Kuroi nodded, taking note of this simple fact. Kouen Akarui, who had once been a member of Kuroi's Fraccion, had deserted Las Noches in favor of the Escudo, and perhaps even the Zarpa. Regardless of what had transpired, Kuroi was more than willing to murder such a traitor in cold blood. Kuroi said nothing to acknowledge the mission however, though luckily Shiroi could take this as acknowledgement himself. He pushed down, lowering Kuroi's arm just a bit. Kuroi's irritation rose, and he prepared to attack Shiroi as well. However, shortly thereafter, Shiroi flicked his own left hand casually, as if on a whim.
A white Bala several times larger than any previously perceived whipped out, hurtling toward the tavern at enormous speed. Kuroi's Bala was the size of an enormous carrier truck, if not larger. Shiroi's was the size of a house, if not bigger, and was easily larger than even most Espada's Cero. That Bala was a powerful attack unlike any other. The Bala impacted the tavern in an instant, reducing it to ash, and destroying it completely in a huge explosion of power and reiatsu. Instantly, everyone within the tavern that did not feel the sudden approach of reiatsu and get out of the way would be killed. Nearly all of the occupants were covered in heinous burns, and were killed or heavily injured from the beginning.
Shiroi opened a Garganta only seconds after, taking a step into it. "Your second mission is of utmost importance." he said to Kuroi. Kuroi understood this to mean that he was on a timer. Kouhai wanted this dealt with as soon as possible. The Garganta closed, and Kuroi looked at where the tavern had once stood. In its place was a large crater where charred black corpses lay strewn everywhere, covered in white fire, and beneath mounds of ashes. He scanned the area, searching for the Hollow which was his target. Sensing a Bala from the likes of Shiroi was easy enough, and so escaping the tavern surely would have been child's play for the likes of the Hollow. It was surely not dead, and Kuroi knew that he had to make certain that it was.
He walked calmly over to where the tavern had stood, and took in the surrounding destruction. From what Kuroi could sense thus far, nearly none of those present had survived. Only one or two of the tavern's customers or occupants had lived through Shiroi's terrifying attack, and even they were dying. The Exequias Leader was a powerful foe, Kuroi realized. However, the Segunda Espada was also far more powerful. His strength was unparalleled within the Arrancar of Las Noches. Seeking out this Hollow, that miserable little thing, Kuroi kept his right hand in his pocket. He was on a timer, and intended to finish things a little bit more quickly than usual. However, not so quickly as to make it unenjoyable. Despair was a wonderful thing to savor in others.
Most of the patrons in the bar would be too late. several of them threw up a few barriers some attempted to get away. in the end none could stop the attack. Zen was the only person who managed to get away. He had used his stepping technique Salvaje Carrera to escape. it left his entire tavern in ruins. a smoking heap of destroyed materials. the patrons of his Establishment crying out in pain as they died off. He had just barely escaped the blast. But he wasn't thinking of any of that. No he was thinking of his tavern. He had built it when he was but an adjuchas. He had put blood sweat and tears, mostly blood, into its building and establishment. it was his prized possession.and while he hated to admit it he had grown fond of its regular patrons.
He had known some of them for quite some time. like the family of rogue shinigami who came there to hide. the arrancar from las noches who needed a place to relax. those bount looking to escape the constant hunting of their kind. he had known everyone in there. their deaths and the damage to his home left an emptiness within his chest. not the simple hole that he had from his hollow nature. but a true sadness. he had grown strong through his travels. he was the most powerful level of hollow he could become. and yet it all meant nothing in the face of such fearsome destruction. There was nothing left but despair.
despair at the loss of his home, his friends, his work and his accomplishments. he was struck by the loss as if he had been stabbed through his heart. those two arrancar had taken everything he had worked for in an instant and Zen had been unable to stop them. How could he Go on like this? what could someone do when the world they ahd built came crashing down around them? the answer was simple really. They could fall apart. that's what zen did. he simply fell to the ground and looked up at the arrancar. only one left. the other had vanished. But they were obviously together. so it was this man who Zen would hate. who he would stare blankly in speechless confusion at.
but Even after that Zen would refuse to simply lay down and die. He had lived lives far worse than this. it was a devastating blow but just as he always did in a situation like this. he would get back up. he would rage, and destroy. Zen would fight back. This arrancar wanted to fight so badly. it was obvious. Zen would give him exactly what he desired. his arm formed the familiar tattoos of a technique known to those of hueco mundo. the infinite cero. the venom green light surged outwards from his hand. he took it and waved it across wheren that arrancar stood. not to hit the enemy. but to collapse the place where he stood. he would bring him down to himself and show him what true pain felt like.
Zen said nothing. the anger evident as it practically oozed from his body like his reiatsu. a menagerie of multicolored savage beasts tearing away at the air. He took one of his many hands and in an instant he bled from his arm. another zen would form and this Zen just as quickly as it had appeared would be gone. vanished in an instant. it ahd turned invisible and even kuroi with his energy sensory would be unable to find it. Zen looked towards his foe. "You have destroyed everything I worked for. before you try to kill me you could atleast tell me who it is I am faced with. and why you have attacked me." the clone would already be gone by then. having moved away the clone would be above the fighters sitting on the airground and activating his ability to regenerate reiatsu.
Kuroi saw the figure dart out from the restaurant, the survivor. Being nine feet tall, and with the inclusion of skeletal wings, Zen had no chance of hiding, even in the smoke and debris caused by the Bala annihilating the tavern in its entirety. Every single person was killed except for the Hollow, as had been both expected, and would have been intended had Kuroi been the one to fire the Bala. That was when a mistake was made completely. Zen had assumed two things. First, he had assumed that he could use a technique which Kuroi had created against its master. Second, he had assumed that the Segunda Espada would merely stand still and let him begin his components for processing and beginning battle. The very instant that the clone even began to detach, before it was even fully formed, Kuroi was in motion. He materialized at once before Zen, in a space which would soon be the emptiness dividing the split off clone and Zen himself.
Kuroi materialized using a Sonido, as the green Cero first began to charge. Kuroi had never once taken his eyes off of the enemy, and had seen the green glow emanating from the Vasto Lorde's hand. Not only could Kuroi recognize the green spiderweb tattoo markings of the technique, but Zen had blatantly aimed his palm in the Segunda's direction. It was obvious that a Cero was coming. Additionally, that Cero required a blood sacrifice, like Gran Rey Cero. Between the various Cero, there were few which required blood, and so Kuroi was quick to identify that as a universally accepted technique, his was probably the one about to be used. He was proven right as he materialized when the tattoo was forming. The very instant that happened, Kuroi was there. That was an issue.
The technique was not only being used by a novice in its used, but it appeared to have close to no practice. It would take more time to charge than Zen even had. Kuroi extended out his left hand. He had arrived before Zen using Sonido, a powerful step technique exclusive to Arrancar, and far faster than Zen's own step. The speed difference was enormous, meaning Kuroi, with his left hand aimed, was there before Zen could even blink or try to. With such a vast difference in speed, it was likely that Zen was about to find out something quite difficult to swallow. He was hopelessly outmatched by the Segunda Espada. With his hand out, Kuroi fired a technique. Dos Bala, the "Bala Two" technique, was a blue bullet made of super condensed and very small reiatsu.
For a Hollow technique, it was quite weak. It penetrated straight into Zen's chest, just below where a human male's Adam's apple would be, just above where a Vasto Lorde's (chest center oriented) Hollow hole existed. It was lodged almost in a sort of shoulder location, just off slightly to the side. The bullet had blasted forwards after Kuroi appeared with so fast a step that Zen wouldn't even be able to disappear completely, should he respond with a step technique. It was unlikely that he would or even could, given the charging of Kuroi's Cero, but if he did, Kuroi was so fast that he would have finished an appearance before Zen even completed a step. With his left outstretched, the technique that Kuroi fired, Dos Bala, was also guaranteed a hit, given Zen would not have been able to disappear by Kuroi's appearance.
The technique in question left a gaping, bleeding hole in Kuroi's left hand, but was worth it. Despite the pain, Kuroi used the technique by tolerating it, and firing it out because of its effects. While a weak projectile and a small one that did close to no damage, and didn't even have enough penetration power to go all the way through and bleed out foes, it was a fast one. It moved at Mach 2, faster than Zen's step technique could ever be. It was even faster than Kuroi's own step technique, Sonido. It clocked somewhere around 6000 speed, far beyond what Zen could ever achieve, that being 3600. It was going to lodge within Zen's body. While it would not push all the way through to bleed him, it remained lodged so as to prevent the hole from sealing up if Zen had a healing ability. It was too fast. Essentially, nearly a guaranteed hit.
Dodging was impossible. Blocking? Unlikely, given that Zen had distracted himself with two other tasks. First was the charging of Kuroi's Cero. The second was something else. The Segunda Espada never once took his eyes off of the prey, observing as a mass of cells began to bubble forth to the surface, and began to branch off from the Hollow's body. It took a few seconds, as the cells appeared to have to bubble up, grow, and then detach. It was not instantaneous, as would be expected. No process of cloning, as Kuroi soon recognized this to be, could be instantaneous. He had seen the bubbling begin very early on, and recognized that something was happening. He realized it was a clone as it began to take shape.
Because of charging that Cero and creating the clone, Zen had hardly any resources to block Kuroi's Dos Bala. He was distracted, reducing his reaction rate by a fraction, which was both all that he had and all that Kuroi needed to reduce it by. He had other arms, but did he have any techniques that were nearly as fast as Dos Bala? Unlikely. Kuroi, standing there with his power, saw the growth, and as it even began to bubble, a second bullet, mere seconds after the first, plunged into the not even fully formed bubbling clone. It lodged right into the skull, killing the thing in a bloody mess before it was even fully detached. By then, Kuroi's Cero was finished being charged by Zen, and meanwhile the bloody clone detached and dropped to the ground.
With Zen's arm pointed at him, Kuroi had another trick up his sleeve. He flipped over Zen, landing behind him. The clone, meanwhile, though dead, had had a sequence going wherein it tried to camouflage. It did this, though the blood covering it was still visible and left it visible. It was dead regardless, so it was useless, not to mention that Kuroi had both interrupted and halted its attempts to charge reiatsu. Zen would not be replenishing with that clone. Behind Zen, Kuroi was safe from the Cero until the former turned his hand toward Kuroi and tried to beam it at him, firing it at its own creator, which would be an unwise move. Kuroi had stayed cautious even in mid air, prepared to counter if Zen had anything else up his sleeve.
As he landed, he spoke to Zen, ignoring everything that Zen said or wanted to hear. Kuroi had orders from Kouhai to make this quick. Therefore, it would be made quick. He would end it without his usual flare. It was a pity, given the Despair that it appeared he could have inflicted on this one. "Try" to kill him. No, Kuroi would very easily succeed. Kuroi nodded at the clone. "Did you think you could simply bury me under superior numbers and brute strength? How naive. We appear to differ in our definitions of 'strength.' Perhaps I must show you." He said it in a very matter-of-fact voice. It was true. This one appeared to lack skill entirely. He did not understand that invisibility was not subtlety, and that a large Cero was not power. Kuroi was disgusted at how his own technique had been so grossly misused. That even this vermin could use it was appalling.
It was like fighting her all over again. Kuroi crushed Zen so quickly and thouroughly. his entire assault stopped in its tracks and a burst of energy straight in his shoulder. Zen effortlessly ignored it and attacked as kuroi landed. He refused to fall before this man. he refused. Out of his hand fired a burst of lightning far faster then kuroi was capable of. it clocked in at around mach 2. It was far faster than kuroi. Zen had it aimed directly at his chest around the location of the sternum. As it fired Zen would perform his own high speed movement. with two of his other hands he thrust backwards slamming into kuroi at speed triple that of Zens normal ability and hitting him with the force of a wild animals strike.
mesopotamia a long time ago. in a life before this one. The room was covered in blood and bones. in the center stood a white stone slab. upon this slab lay a man with dark skin and silver hair his eyes a deep green. he bled upon the slab his breathing shallow. "i gave you everything. i did whatever you wanted so that you would always be happy. i wanted nothing more than to make you happier than the rest of the world. Why?" A girl naked and covered in his blood looked down upon him. "because. You are no longer what i desire. goodbye." And with that he was dead. But he wasnt gone. he staye din that room bound to his corpse. staring at the woman each day as she walked in with a new lover or new victim. Each day his rage grew stronger. He shattered his bonds and attempted to crush her. He was easily and swiftly overpowered destroyed in the blink of an eye. but that wasnt the end.
london the blitz He was fighting through the blitz. shinigami everywhere. but the most important was him. Slace. that man he ahd known since the beginning. He loved the man in everyway. he had been a son, brother, father, lover. they had shared everything before. And now they battled one on one. Slace was a vice captain. he wielded a rather dangerous bankai. Zen was a fearsome adjuchas. but Slace never even released. He crushed Zen without a second thought and with no words. a single blast of kido and he was gone. Overwhelmed by his best friend with no remorse.
((final flashback i swear. but this is a long one.)) Scandinavia some ancient battle. He had been fighting for weeks. he finally arrived before them. slace and alal. they had destroyed him many times. today he would claim his vengenace. or so he thought. Without any thoughts of mercy Slace took dominance over the sky and earth. alal arrived to fight him head on. For hours they fought. one would think Zen was on par with them. but they merely toyed. It was all he could do to survive. She tore off his arms and impaled him on his own sword. Slace scorched out his eyes and lef thim a blind and defenseless hunk of flesh. he heard them. You never learn your lesson Zen. its time to give up. stop fighting us. accept fate. "stay down zen. you have no reason to keep fighting. we destroyed your men and your home. surrender. But zen was too ignorant and stubborn for that. he refused. and every time he tried to fight he accomplished nothing. nothing but defeat.
a valley in the human world. present day. Not today. he refused to let it happen again. not today. NOT today. Zen stared kuroi in the eyes. just once was all it took an instant of eye contact and Zen was in control. Kuroi would be completely paralysed in fear. This was asustar. Zens intimidation technique. even the mighty kuroi lacked the necesarry skills to overcome it. Zen was in a fierce Rage. it could be seen in his eyes. hate flowed from every inch of his body. "i cannot possibly win this. however i will not let you go unscathed. and if i am to die today. jsut tell me one thing. why are you here? why have you come for me this day?just answer this please." Zen pleaded with kuroi. in his hand the shoji cero remained active. he brought it close to kuroi. it would take a single movement and he could end this. but one such as kuroi would not fall so easily. "you are obviously no ordinary arrancar. i name you as one of the espada. you will not be held by this ability long. and i know i said jsut one thing. but i must ask this second question. which espada are you?"
Without even landing, Kuroi still exacted his plan. He had expected a desperate attempt at survival and stalling. He had known from the very first instant that he laid eyes upon this enemy how frail Zen was. The Hollow was nothing to the likes of Kuroi, an Espada. This one was nothing but a joke. Before Kuroi had even landed, he mentally willed what would be the death of his foe. Both Dos Bala, left within the body of his enemy, lodged, exploded. It was quick. Kuroi had intended to do it quickly from the moment that he had fired them, and had allowed only the merest fraction of a second to give the opponent false hope before taking it away, for that was what it meant to be the master of the element of death which was called Despair.
Kuroi's Dos Bala, both of which exploded small, concise explosions with great reiatsu strength, erupted inside of Zen's skull, not just in the original, but the failed clone Kuroi had fired into. The clone, having still been emerging from Zen's body, and thus being connected, or at least very close, would not only lose the entirety of its head and brain, but would obliterate Zen's nearby shoulder as well. Meanwhile, the bullet that had been launched in the original exploded with enough force to destroy the head, along with the brain inside of it, and the entirety of the remaining shoulder and neck. There was nothing left. Oxygen would enter the body through the destroyed head areas as well to stop the heart.
It would be less than a second before Zen's consciousness was erased, and his bodily functions would cease shortly thereafter. He was dead before he could even finish firing the lightning bolt, prepare his speed attack to ram Kuroi, or speak. Kuroi landed, the words carrying through the air with him. The words of power which Kuroi had spoken carried even after the doom of the Hollow that the Segunda Espada had been sent to destroy. No, there would be no glorious comeback nor conversation. Kuroi had decided that early on. This was not his normal style, but defeating his opponents quickly was necessary sometimes. Kuroi had another mission to attend to, which was why he had shown up, slaughtered the Hollow, and prepared to move on.
"I do not owe answers to the likes of a mere Hollow." Kuroi noted. This was the Segunda metaphorically spitting on the inferior race of Hueco Mundo, the Hollows, who were weaklings before the Arrancar. The might of the Arrancar was great indeed, and it was obvious that they were meant to succeed the Hollows forever. They might start as Hollows, but one day such would no longer be necessary. Kuroi had evolved himself into an Arrancar, and was one of those destined for greatness. He could tell, from the start of that fight, that Zen, nothing but a mere Hollow, regardless of being a Vasto Lorde, was not destined for greatness. Not on that day, when a Hollow had the unfortunate circumstance of being murdered by an Arrancar.
