Ultimately, I find Mourge's review to be biased and unfair. This is why I will also be creating a review. I will also give examples, for those who wish to try these out for themselves, after having read either review.
Remember this. This review is not about how to become powerful. This review is about how to use each type to its fullest potential. As Zou puts it, it is meant to show how each type was meant to be embodied. This is not about creating a powerful character. It is about creating a powerful story.
Alternation. If ice blue, written by Zou. If bold and red, written by Royce. If violet, collaborated upon by both.
The Clown Type is essentially the "Naruto" of the site. Overconfident, overzealous, and packing lots of energy. The point of this Type, really, is for reiatsu specialists. Magical attack users. You'd see someone like Yumichika or Ukitake using this. While it lowers your sensory types, this is very easy to overcome, and you benefit heavily from the massive reiatsu gains. Not only can you use this to create a reiatsu destroyer, who packs lots of energy for a barrage of dozens of attacks at high power, but you can also create a sufficient mid level with this type as well.
What the clown type is meant to do is essentially create a character who is fearsome and versatile. It is designed primarily for most likely a Vice Captain, or in other words a rank level 2 or rank level 3 mid tier combatant. The best build with a Clown Type would have you input around 300 into your reiatsu stats, and 300 into each sensory stat. That way, you're rounding off at 450 Reiatsu strength and Pressure (level 2) if not 600 (level 3), while also packing 195 or 150 instinct/senses (level 2-3). This type works BEST with Shinigami and with Quincy. Shinigami because of their variable Kido, Quincy because their techniques can mitigate most of the weaknesses of this type by providing them with stellar strengths.
Shinigami will tend to gear more toward a mid range, unless of course you equip the Clown Type to a Captain of a member of the Zero Division, in which case you'll become quite the kicker. The goal in any of these events is to have a deadly Zanpakuto and Kido specialty combo, and also to have huge reserves of energy for costly powers, while also being able to survive physical confrontations without flat out being bulldozed. What differentiates this type from the later Technique Master type is the unique powers a Zanpakuto or similar can provide you with, which will give you a serious edge should you use your reiatsu heavy stats well in conjunction with the type. Quincy, honestly, can just use this to steamroll everyone. Not only can they compensate for physical stats with Blut, but they can continue to intake reiatsu into their already high reiatsu pool, and create super powered arrows. Shinigami should be Vice Captains if using this. Quincy are just massively powered to begin with. Also, Quincy, since they do a by the post cost for most of their techniques, can start with a lot of reiatsu, and thus keep many techniques going for a longer time, even if they have a deficit spending of reiatsu at the moment.
So, in my opinion, here are two ideal builds for each one. The first is a Vice Captain with Bankai, rank level 3, 1600 SP. This type is meant for that kind of mid tier. You can pack some serious damage with this one. Keep in mind, this is for rank level 2-3 engagements, direct combat. You are to strategically fight an adversary with your magical prowess.
Strength: 50
Speed: 300
Reiatsu Strength: 300 (600)
Spiritual Pressure: 250 (500)
Instinct: 300 (150)
Senses: 300 (150)
Energy Sensory: 100 (50)
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1600
Next is a rank level 2 character, also Vice Captain, but without Bankai. Let's say 1400 SP, the max you can get at class 2. Keep in mind, this is for rank level 1-2 engagements. You are to defeat enemies with your magical prowess. Weaker foes fall prey to your magical domination, and more physical foes find it hard to get near you because of this. Will you do well against stronger opponents, such as rank level 3-4, with this? Nope! You shouldn't expect to if you're rank level 2. But, in your own level of engagements, this should come off as quite brutal and well balanced.
Strength: 50
Speed: 250
Reiatsu Strength: 300 (450)
Spiritual Pressure: 300 (450)
Instinct: 200 (130)
Senses: 200 (130)
Energy Sensory: 100 (65)
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1400
With the above types, the goal is head on engagement using strategic battling. However, you are not meant to fight physically. That's RIDICULOUS. You're a Kido specialist. You can't win physical fights. You're supposed to be using this to fight people with magical powers. Therefore you should gear any character with the above stats/ideas toward trickier, more magical powers. Don't be a boxer that uses fire. Be the person whose Zanpakuto creates little trap runes on foreign surfaces or something. This type requires you to be a little bit creative.
Remember how I mentioned Quincy? Honestly? Either of the above two builds would be just fine for any level of Quincy as well. Quincy are the main party receiving benefits from this type. Here's a class 0 Vandenreich Stern Ritter, rank General. 2200 SP. Rank level 4. +25% to all stats by default. Check this out. This is Clown at the best of its build.
Strength: 200 (250)
Speed: 400 (500)
Reiatsu Strength: 400 (1000) (1250)
Spiritual Pressure: 400 (1000) (1250)
Instinct: 300 (150)
Senses: 300 (150)
Energy Sensory: 200 (100)
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 2200
You get the idea. That type is honestly pretty damn good.
This is overall one of the best types on forum for several reasons. First of all, excluding the jump from rank level 1 to rank level 2, the drawback for this type is consistent at all levels. It has the exact same drawback for three levels in a row, meaning that you can only get stronger even in stats where you're not very proficient. On top of that, you can use this type for some insane boosts to your sensory stats. This is mostly useful for a supportive character if you're a Shinigami. You can detect things better than anyone, and assist people in that way. Or, given this doesn't cut reiatsu stats, you can easily use this type for a magic based character who uses a raw control ability or similar. This person would be great as a Kuchiki Intimidation Hana user. I'll provide a few stats below to demonstrate what I mean.
We'll start off with a Shinigami, let's say rank level 2. Let's say you're a Vice Captain, no Bankai. 1400 SP, class 2. With the below build, yes, you will come out slower and physically weaker than most characters. This type isn't meant for you to excel in physical combat. You shouldn't even be moving your body. This type is best for characters like Byakuya Kuchiki, who don't have to move, and just have to notice everything and know how to react and how to control their powers.
Strength: 100 (60)
Speed: 300 (180)
Reiatsu Strength: 300
Spiritual Pressure: 250
Instinct: 200 (400)
Senses: 150 (300)
Energy Sensory: 100 (200)
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1400
Look at those above stats. Do you have any idea what 400 instinct can do? 300 senses already means you can notice things like a wild animal, if not way better. 400 instinct? That's EIGHT TIMES the processing power of the human brain's instinctive realization. Retrospect, that's fast. The human brain can notice things ridiculously quickly, even if our bodies do not react quickly enough. If you see a coming car? Your mind processes that. It knows what's coming. Your body just can't process the information quickly enough to get YOU to move. However, if you're a strategist, you're just processing things and you should just be CONTROLLING things. This is why Bount, who use dolls, could also benefit from this type, especially with those Bount techniques allowing easy escapes. Shinigami can use Kido or raw control abilities, and Bount can just make their dolls do things. This type is BEST for Shinigami and Bount! So, that being said, let's construct some Bount. Next one, let's say is a Shinigami, class 1 this time, 1600 SP, rank level 4. Let's consider you a high tier Captain. Let's say you worked from the bottom. 1800 SP. Because this can easily be used at a very high level.
Strength: 100 (60)
Speed: 300 (180)
Reiatsu Strength: 400
Spiritual Pressure: 400
Instinct: 200 (700)
Senses: 200 (700)
Energy Sensory: 200 (700)
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1800
Not convinced? You should be. Do you see those stats? With instinct of 700, your processing power is FOURTEEN TIMES that of a human. Remember what I said about average humans in the last paragraph? Well, here's food for thought. The electrical impulses in the human brain move at the speed of light. So we're talking some fast processing. You're beyond supercomputer with that speed. And with those senses? Forget it. Information intaking is crazy. With that energy sensory? Yeah. Nothing is slipping by you. With these stats, NO ONE CAN SLIP PAST YOU. That's the beauty of it. Okay, a lot of people would argue "But, Zou! You can just attack the high senses." Seriously? Not only is that just a cheap ass way to attack, but it can easily be mitigated. It's called a filter technique or an item that helps out. Sunglasses help with bright flashes. Earmuffs help control the environment around you, even though you can still hear super well. Etc etc etc. Items, techniques, etc, can help you with this. With the above stats, you can make such detailed analysis and plans of everything so quickly that your enemy won't have a godamn clue what hit them. And if you have a raw control ability or a doll? FORGET IT! It's over. Your technique is so fluid that your enemy can't even touch you, even if you are just standing completely still to fight. That being said, let's make a Bount version of those stats for kicks. Let's say rank level 3, class 1, 1400 SP.
Strength: 100 (60)
Speed: 200 (120)
Reiatsu Strength: 250
Spiritual Pressure: 250
Instinct: 250 (750)
Senses: 250 (750)
Energy Sensory: 100 (300)
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1400
You might notice I copped out more on the reiatsu and physical stats in favor of ridiculous sensory. There's a reason for that. Not only can a Bount hide in the shadows so as to avoid being hit, but a Bount can also avoid sensory overload attacks that way as well! So, not only are Bount treacherous with this ability to notice and strategize against everything using these stats, but they are unimaginably good at destroying things with their THREE dolls. That's right. Three SENTIENT, INTELLIGENT BEINGS following their every command, usually through mental communication. Oh, wait. I misused the italics. Mental communication at about sixteen times the speed of thought/light. So, keeping that in mind? Yeah. Bount are dangerous with this type. This is easily one of the best five types on this forum if you understand how to build it.
That being said, Fullbringers can also utilize this type, because they have a few physical stat increase techniques (which, for the record, Bount can also use! Just saying), and several techniques which bypass layered defenses like armor or even Hierro! Therefore, humans and Bount benefit HEAVILY from this type. Many humans will have slightly lower (yet still ridiculously high) sensory stats so that they can use extremely high level analysis in mid battle, fighting physical combat with enormous dexterity, while also avoiding sensory overload because of slightly lower stats. Example of this? See Fullbringer Kento Sasaki.
Brave is a very good type. It is a very standard, very versatile type for any level of combat. Like Clown, its goal is head on combat, but this time of the physical variety. Brave is very much like Fighter. Both use physical enhancement. However, what differentiates Brave is the possibility of two Zanpakuto or four dolls if you are a Shinigami or Bount, or even non-release techniques. For a Bount, this is vital because their techniques are so useful in any combat situation. For Shinigami, this can be an essential strategy creator as they line their physically powerful attacks with a variety of Kido combos. Imagine being punched in the face at 600 strength, and then electrocuted by Hado #35: Raikou Kawa.
This is very good for elemental fighters and for anyone who is at any level. To make this work, you must assign your character techniques that do well in physical combat. This means you will do best using Shinigami and Human World Dwellers. Shinigami have both Hakuda and many low level Kido to accompany them, not to mention one or two Zanpakuto each with separately unique powers to allow someone a very versatile combat which is very effective and deadly. HWD will have their human world techniques which boost their physical capacity, which is already very high, and can be extremely mean with their race's own unique techniques and releases. If you want to have a threatening Mod Soul, which even at its best can only get 1200 SP, but usually is stuck at 1000, this is what you use. This, plus Willpower or Output, will make a dangerous character. This is why this would be preferable to Fighter, which restricts those kinds of techniques.
Do I have to spell out stats? Very well. Here are some stats. This is a Mod Soul at rank level 3 and 1000 SP. Afterward will be a Shinigami with 1400 and class 2 rank level 2. The Mod Soul remember will be able to double the strength of hits, and use special unique backup powers, as well as go through Hierro and other defenses. There is one technique, Output, which causes the impact of a punch from an HWD to have 8x the value of the character's strength. Just think about that. And think how HWD can double speed as well!
Strength: 150 (300)
Speed: 250 (500)
Reiatsu Strength: 100 (50)
Spiritual Pressure: 300 (150)
Instinct: 100
Senses: 100
Energy Sensory: 0
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1000
Now let's shoot for that Shinigami. Think of how much power this can give you if you have Hakuda guy who also uses conductive things such as metal gauntlets, and then adds fire or electricity to his attacks. If you wanted to be the fire boxer, here it is.
Strength: 250 (438)
Speed: 300 (525)
Reiatsu Strength: 200 (100)
Spiritual Pressure: 300 (150)
Instinct: 150
Senses: 150
Energy Sensory: 50
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1400
This will allow some very powerful mid level combat. While you may run into trouble against Arrancar if you are a Shinigami, you will still be able to grapple them, destroy their eyes, or use your strategic Zanpakuto. Hierro is one technique belonging to one race. All things will have weaknesses, which is what you must keep in mind. Not everyone is good everywhere or good at everything. This is why types are made as they are. This one is good for nearly any level depending on where you are. You will always be a contender with this type within your own level. Users of this can expect in your face physical brawls to be their preferred methods.
This is not a combat type in any way. You should not be expecting complicated or direct skirmishes with this one. This is for the stealthy infantry. Those who use this are weak in physical strength, and do not have much reiatsu. They must be clever. They are also only fast when they are running. However, the boost is very high. Users of this type are killers. They blitz lower level opponents and do best by picking on people who are not their own size. They destroy the enemy's grunts, and they are very good at infiltrating places for sabotage. Those who use this ability should use it to land a quick single hit and then bolt away. They must do their job and escape. Users will be quick and efficient, and often very weak in combat with a more direct type, such as Brave or Clown. Anyone that uses Runner will most likely be best suited with poison style abilities. HWD will benefit the most from these, not only because they can mitigate their own physical weakness with enormous continued physical boosts, but they can increase their already great running speed to become truly fierce.
Human World Dwellers are the best suited for this type. Arrancar are not bad, but not favorable either, nor are Shinigami. Those who can best use this are probably Fullbringers, Bount, and Quincy. Fullbringers because of their techniques and combination with Shinigami-like release, Bount because if in a tough spot they can disappear, and Quincy because they can make up for any weakness this stat provides, and then some. Providing stats for this one seems a little unnecessary, but will be done anyway.
Below is a build that anyone above can benefit from. It is rank level 3, 1400 SP. Quincy remember will usually have more than this. This type is great for them. This is most recommended for Humans or Bount.
Strength: 200 (100)
Speed: 400 (1200 when running)
Reiatsu Strength: 200
Spiritual Pressure: 300 (but 1500 reiatsu)
Instinct: 150
Senses: 150
Energy Sensory: 100
Healing Expertise: 100
Total SP: 1400
It could be argued that the healing expertise 100 is better in reiatsu strength 200, but HWD rely far less on reiatsu strength to do their damage, so it is moot. This type is great because it can allow you to maneuver your SP due to less painful drawbacks. It can be used to allocate your stat points toward other, less used things, such as healing expertise, which means that you could save your own life if you get injured.
Prodigy is honestly one of the better types on this forum, contrary to how it looks. That being said, it is easily one of the most difficult types to use as well. Not only does it require a higher stat capped character, like a Quincy or an Arrancar, but it will typically only work for those who do mid and high level engagements. The issue with Prodigy that most people see is the instinct cut, or the cut maybe to one of the reiatsu stats. If you don't play your cards correctly, either one can be ridiculously crippling. On the other hand? Play your cards right, and this easily becomes one of the most powerful types on the forum. Below, let me throw in a rank level 4 Arrancar to show you what's going on. 1900 SP. This is an extreme example. It's strong. Just watch.
Strength: 100
Speed: 400 (1400)
Reiatsu Strength: 400
Spiritual Pressure: 300 (100)
Instinct: 300 (100)
Senses: 200 (700)
Energy Sensory: 200
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1900
Above could have done a little better, but I was too lazy to do math so I kept numbers even. Still, do you see that? DO YOU SEE THAT? That's 1400 speed. Who the hell can keep up with 1400 speed? Especially given Arrancar have Sonido, the site's fastest individual step technique. Oh, and hey. 100 spiritual pressure? Who cares? Use Ressurection, and you can have infinite reiatsu for a while. Not only that, but you have moderate instinct. Moderate. Not poor. Moderate. 100 instinct? Well, that's like an athlete, and those guys have good instincts. YOU try hitting a ball moving at 95 MPH with your wooden bat. See the practice it takes to do it well. That being said, if you've got those instincts and reaction speeds, and you have the ability to see the details of a moving fly, with, you know, 700 senses, then you can do a lot of damage. So, not only can you see and nitpick fine details of EVERYTHING around you, but you can use your 1400 speed to ensure that no one can react to a single thing that you do or say!
So, yeah. Is this an awesome type? Hell yeah! Imagine throwing this onto a Quincy. Hyper awareness, ridiculous speed or strength, and they can keep rejuvenating their lost reiatsu, or can use their techniques to amp up cut stats. Yeah, this type is pretty awesome. Arrancar and Quincy benefit most from this. As said, it is for skilled players to make the build, and requires a higher level character as well. It is an advanced level type. If you're only a mid level roleplayer, this'll be harder to pull off without a guide such as what I just made. Higher level roleplayers do better with this one.
That being said, let's get ourselves into another idea. Rank level 3 Shinigami, maybe a low tier Captain, or a Vice Captain with Bankai. 1600 SP, class 1.
Strength: 300
Speed: 400 (1200)
Reiatsu Strength: 300 (100)
Spiritual Pressure: 300
Instinct: 300 (100)
Senses: 100 (300)
Energy Sensory: 100
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1600
Let's be honest here. You can easily reduce this to 1400 SP if you'd like, and still manage as a class 2 character, maybe even rank level 2. Because, I'm sorry, what? I couldn't hear you over the sound of wind whipping around my face as I move at 1200 speed and cut your jugular vein. Or maybe I can't hear you because I cut your jugular vein before you could get sound out. Yeah. That's right. 1200 speed. AND good senses to help you notice things earlier and react to them on time as a result. Oh, and energy sensory helps. Plus, this time reiatsu strength took the cut. Get the idea? You're a physical combatant here. A melee user. In other words? Hey, man. You can be a Hakuda fighter, a sword fighter, whatever! So, yeah. Strength.
That being said, this type is still best for Quincy and for Arrancar. However, can you imagine if a Bount or other HWD had this? Bount, for starters, with crazy senses AND speed? They can blitz you simultaneous to their dolls doing it, PLUS use those HWD techniques on you, PLUS disappear into the shadows and do other Bount things. Humans can also mitigate weaknesses with those techniques while using crazy stellar powers and speed.
It may look harder to use, but let's face it. Prodigy is a great type. I would consider it in the top five of the forum. Royce disagrees on it being in top five, but agrees with every other point that I just made. So you can suck on that.
This type is great as many of the defects stay the same across the levels, so it is good when leveling. At any level of engagement, it turns you into a contender. It also gives more and more stamina with each level. The thing that makes people overlook this one is the stamina cut. These people can be many different kinds of combatants, which is why this is such a great type. It's extremely variable. People can be Kido or melee specialists, or be a jack of all trades. This type allows you a couple of high boosts, and is compatible with almost any race except for Mod Soul. Below I'll give a 1400 SP rank level 2 or 3 character, class 2 or 1 most likely. This build would be good with any race, really.
Strength: 100 (50)
Speed: 300
Reiatsu Strength: 300 (900)
Spiritual Pressure: 300
Instinct: 150
Senses: 150
Energy Sensory: 100 (300)
Healing Expertise: 0
Total SP: 1400
I made a pretty balanced character overall. You can apply this anywhere. Any HWD can use this well, and use their techniques plus their race's techniques. Ultimately, they can disappear, or blend, or do whatever their race does. Attacks can be very powerful while boosting physical stats. Or, alternatively, if you're a Shinigami, you can have mid level melee engagement, but ultimately trash your adversaries with a few well placed low cost reiatsu powers. I may have boosted reiatsu in this layout, but as you can see, doing it to physical stats would also have been easy, whether it resulted in 900 strength and 150 speed or 150 strength and 900 speed. This type is super variable and is fun to play around with, and comes with the ability to create some pretty great strategies. As said, any race can do it. For example, imagine that same build for a Quincy or Arrancar, both of which can basically continuously use reiatsu nonstop. Then, think of Hierro if RS is boosted, or maybe some of those Vandenreich boost techniques.
Possibilities in Genius are limitless, really. Let's consider this in the top five on the site. I really do think of it as easily one of the best. Geared, as said, for any level of engagement. Sure, you fatigue, but just create an ability that gives you a chance to catch your rest. You may have to strategically plan your attacks, but that's how it works when you're so strong that people don't usually last long enough to wind you.
A great example is Shade Kawada.

Shinigami because of their variable Kido, Quincy because their techniques can mitigate most of the weaknesses of this type by providing them with stellar strengths.

Speed: 400 (500)

Energy Sensory: 50
