Itou thinks the Kawada aren't so great. Just because they are rich they thinks they are superior to him. He has heard of Katrina Kawada because they are both in the same year. He wants to show that just because she is a Kawada doesn't mean she is the greatest.

I must strive to be the best, I shall be better than any student, than any Shinigami, than any noble family. That was Itou’s mindset when he started training. He needed to get better, he needed to fulfil his goals, he needed to kill that certain someone. In order to do that he needed to train, he needed to become the best in his class. What had irked him a lot lately was the way the Kawada’s in the academy treated everyone else. They acted like they were better than everyone and that they could beat anyone in a fight. Itou trained to prove them wrong.
As he continued practicing hitting the logs with his hand-to-hand form he was only thinking about how he would like to show a Kawada who’s boss, he hated how noble families thought they were better than everyone when most of them probably weren’t even that strong. “Just focus on my training, I’ll get better.” Itou thought to himself as splintered a log with one swing of his fists. Itou stopped his training and sat down, he was slightly annoyed with himself, he needed a sparring partner, logs wouldn’t help him.
It wasn’t just Kawada who irked Itou. It was the Kuchiki and other families as well. Yes they were rich, yes some of them had great geniuses and great Shinigami. Itou respected them for that, the thing that irked him was the fact that those who hadn’t earned anything still thought they were great. Once they became strong then they could boast about being the best but that wasn’t happening at the moment. The way they acted simply made him so angry, some of them weren’t even strong, some of them were just spoiled and pathetic. It was only the strong people who Itou generally respected, not liked but respected.
Itou was wearing his white academy stop but with the sleeves ripped off, he wanted his limbs showing when he trained, it was so he didn’t learn the wrong stances by accident. This revealed his muscular arms. His chest was only slightly exposed which showed his muscular chest as well. He had his katana in a black sheath and was tied down with a purple rope like belt which kept if firmly on. He was wearing fingerless gloves which made his grip better and easier when he handled his sword. His facial expression was always stoic and showed no emotion as he trained.
It was just another normal day, training. He wondered if another student would come to the training field and train with him, you never knew who might show up. He met some interesting people on these training fields and he sparred some strong people. He continued hitting the log and kicking it, he had a tight schedule. Hand-to-hand, speed and then sword styles. He was still working on developing one of his sword styles that he had only used once against Zeich Yajuu although he tried not to think about that fight too much, it made him angry, it fed his urge to kill that he worked hard to suppress and that urge was pretty damn hard to resist. That didn’t matter now, all that mattered was training.
"... Hn." The sound of light footsteps would meld out of the shadows behind the Academy Student. Long black hair hung loosely to her hips, like a silken shroud. Bangs crested the top of her eyes, hiding a portion of her sapphire eyes from view. Two swords, real metal Uchigatana, were on her waist; beautiful and golden, glistening like dragon scales. A golden haori, emblazoned with the mark of her clan, the Kawada Phoenix, was worn over her form-fitting Academy outfit. Fingerless gloves adorned her hand.
Her graceful and near-silent walk took her past where Itou was resting. Her sapphire eyes, like the eyes of a bird of prey, narrowed at him. Her upper lip curled in contempt. "... tch." she scoffed at him, before turning to one of the padded target. Itou would see her arm flex, and a glistening black throwing knife, lacking both hilt and guard, appear in her hand. A twitch of her hand, and the blade would fly through the air, landing dead center in the target. A wry smile twisted her face.
Another flex and a twist and another dagger rested in her arms. This time, however, she didn't aim for a target; her flew out to the side and landed, with inches to spare, near Itous right hand. Katrina's cold eyes stared at Itou. Her delicate, golden gloved hand unsheathed her the blade at her wrist, revealing a glistening blade. "You. Fight me." Her voice wasn't full of contempt, which was a rarity; but rather, a curiosity, as if fighting him would provide her with all the information she needed about him. But what, exactly, did she need to know?
As Itou stopped hitting the log he sat down and rested, he was glistening with sweat which only defined his muscles even more. He took a bottle of water and drunk it. Suddenly Itou heard footsteps, he turned his head to see someone. It was another Kawada, he could tell by the gold haori and symbol that she was a Kawada, probably one of the higher branches of Kawada, Itou simply didn’t comment on anything, either she was spoiled or she was strong, that didn’t matter to him right now. She seemed to be dressed for training as well that didn’t matter.
He saw her produce a knife, it had no hilt or guard, it appeared to be a throwing knife. She threw it and it hit the target. Itou wasn’t impressed, he simply turned his attention elsewhere. He glanced around, took in his surroundings. Suddenly there was a loud thud next to his right hand, he almost jumped up in shock, he gasped loudly as he turned his head to look at where the knife had come from, he was in battle alert mode now. He quickly snapped his head towards the Kawada girl, SHE had thrown then knife. “You. Fight me.” She commanded.
Her voice was so commanding, as if she knew what she was doing, as if she ‘owned’ Itou. Well Itou was going to fix that. Itou stood up and took his sheath from his belt. He then drew the zanpakuto in the right hand and held the sheath in the next hand. Katrina was going to be the first academy student to witness his sword and sheath style that he had been developing. “I don’t see why you want to fight me so much but I guess I’ll comply. Just don’t go complaining to the Kawada if you get hurt badly.” Itou laced the word ‘Kawada’ with as much emphasis and annoyance as he could.
Itou wasn’t very fond of noble families. He felt they were too full of themselves and thought they owned everything because they were rich. Their children normally ended up as spoiled brats who Itou simply couldn’t stand. Because of this he would treat her like any other opponent, he wouldn’t go easy on her just because she was a Kawada, he wouldn’t go easy on her just because she was from a noble family. Itou didn’t go easy on anyone, if they got injured it was their fault for being weak.
He then ran at her, he was being cautious, she had throwing knives so Itou moved in zigzags, this would make it too hard for her to aim and effectively hit him. She would find that he was quick, really quick, with 150 speed compared to her 50 speed and 50 senses it would be tough for her to dodge, she could probably block though. What made that impossible was that she hadn’t drawn her blades before hand, she sure as hell couldn’t draw them in time to counter Itou, so what could she do? Itou then swung down with his zanpakuto, he aimed to cut her face and the blade would travel all the way down her chest and end at the bottom of her stomach. When this slash was done he pivoted, he did a quick pivot, he kept his sheath ready. After the pivot he swung his sheath to the side of her head, aiming to crack it against her head and make her see stars and stripes.
When this was done Itou kicked her in the waist, hoping to send her sprawling to the ground. “I don’t intend to go easy on you just because you are of higher ‘status’ than me...” Itou stated calmly as he took a few steps back so she couldn’t surprise him with any kidou that were quick, or any bakudo’s that would hinder him, he found kidou to be quiet annoying. He couldn’t use kidou at all but she wouldn’t know that, it was too early in the battle for Itou to give an effective and accurate analysis so he just allowed the battle to take its course, he would react accordingly with any threats. Or course these were just basic attacks, the battle had just begun.
A smirk spread across Katrina's face as Itou answered her back. Yet she held her tongue; it wasn't right to show arrogance before the battles start. She simply bowed. In a flat tone, no emotion breaking through, Katrina spoke. "As you say." Normally, this would have been accompanied by a 'sir' ... but, well ... Itou was a little beneath her. At least in her mind. A 'sir' would not be uttered by her today, not in this fight.
And then he ran at her. "Hell's fire, he's fast!" Katrina watched him with her eyes. Since he was coming straight at her, he was still capable of tracking his movements. They were far enough apart that Katrina had enough time to do what she planned on doing next. Her hand raised, pointing at five different locations; the kneecap, the heart, the head, and the left and right arms. At each location, a mentally cast, instantaneous Byakurai was cast. Five Byakurai, each heading at a slightly different location, were sent flying towards Itou. Dodging would prove difficult, as Byakurai are widely considered to be near instantaneous; with the mental cast, and Itou's lack of knowledge in Kido, it would prove even harder.
The young face of the Kawada Shadow stretched into a condescending smile. "What was that you said? Do not 'cry to the Kawada'." She laughed mirthlessly. "I am Kawada. We do not cry. We do not bleed. We do not die." Pride seeped into her voice; despite everything, she was very proud of her family. It was one of the few things that she did take pride in. Even the silken hairband that held her hair back was emblazoned with a black phoenix. "You wish to prove me false? Then do so. Strike me, kill me. Impale me, fool, and prove the Kawada are nothing more than talk." She challenged. As she did so, she prepared to mentally cast a Seki.

As Itou moved towards her he saw her hand rise. With his battle analysis he concluded that she would be casting a kidou. The thing that he wondered about was why she wasn’t saying any words, his question was then answered when he saw a bolt of white light go rocketing towards him. It was a byakurai, hado number 4. Just because Itou couldn’t cast kidou did not mean he had no knowledge on it. He knew about the kidou from his kidou class (which he always failed at). The last time he tried to cast that spell he had ended up in the hospital wing, it had been a shameful trip.
Itou had a few factors on his side. He has 150 instinct, the senses of a wild beast. He could effectively survive the jungle with instincts like that. He had 50 senses but they would see the pale lightning that came from her hand. He also saw her fingers point towards him, who pointed their fingers towards someone from range unless they were attacking or casting a kidou? Although Itou could cast no kidou he was a very rare exception, he gave up most reiatsu abilities for physical advantage. An advantage that would be exploited throughout the fight.
With those factors and a speed of 180 and a shunpo speed of 1800 dodging was second nature. Also Katrina wouldn’t be able to fire those kidou in pinpoint precision because he was a moving target, hitting his vital areas would be practically impossible for an academy student like her. She was trying to do this outside her ability. Although she would be able to fire the byakurai effortlessly could still dodge. If she was trying to halt his charge and keep him at distance she was in for a big surprise.
What Katrina HADN’T taken into account was the fact that Itou could shunpo, when the first one fired he used shunpo to get around her, moving at 1800 stat speed he would end up behind her basically instantaneously. He ended up to the side of her, he had moved diagonal and avoid the kidou spells. By the time she was still firing she would feel a shocking and blinding pain in her arm, blood would spray out of the wound. Itou had slashed her across the arm, he had made a deep cut across the arm.
If the attack hit the weakness would show, it was a deep cut, almost going into the bone. This would result in a lot of blood loss throughout the fight. She had no bleeding tolerance she would be getting dizzy soon. It would also make wielding her swords harder since they would feel heavier due to her left arm being so weakened. Firing kidou would also prove difficult since she needed to raise her arm to attack and as said before that would prove rather difficult.
The question was how could she dodge this? Itou had attacked her while she had been firing around her last kidou. She could use seki but she only had 50 instinct and 50 senses. She would be able to locate him but she wouldn’t be able to react with such low speed and instincts, Itou was simply too fast and strong. Her mind simply couldn’t keep up with his speed. How would she able to track a shunpo with such meagre senses and instincts? She was also really slow. She wouldn’t even be able to know to cast Seki since by the time she realized it was him and tried to react he would have cut her.
After the slash Itou used his sheath to smash her in the nose, breaking her nose and sending her flying back. It suited his sword and sheath style just fine, sword for cutting and blade combat, sheath for defence and blunt force. It would break her nose and send her flying back into the dirt, she was obviously in trouble now. If the slash hit dodging the sheath would prove difficult. Itou was really pushing her, with her speed deficit and no obvious way to keep up with his shunpo she was being really hard pressed this fight. It would prove difficult at the least.
Itou simply looked at her stoically after his attack. He was sure she wouldn’t be able to react to his attacks, any reaction would prove inadequate. He would prove that she was inadequate. He would attack ruthlessly.
There was something immediately wrong with her strategy; her opponent knew Shunpo. After the first Byakurai was fired, he had simply ... disappeared from site. This, of course, prevented her from firing the other's, as you can't fire on an opponent that has disappeared. "Where could he possibly have-" Her thought process was cut short by the pain. Wide eyes glanced down to see a blade, glistening with her red blood, dropping from a cut on her arm. Blood poured from the wound, and already, she felt dizzy.
Instinctually, she took a leap backwards; though there was a massive speed difference, Itou would have to grab his sheath and move to slam it into her face; this would give Katrina plenty of time to move. Her leap carried a dozen feet from Itou. Blood dripped down her arm, and turned her face red. "... I spoke too soon." Gracefully, Katrina ripped off the golden Haori and tossed it to the side; the blood drenched sleeve fell first, leaving a trail of red across the asphalt.
This left her in her form-fitting, bare armed academy outfit. She reached down, into a slit on the thigh, positioned so as to be easily accessible for anything the user might wish to hide; such as a stiletto knife. This heavy bladed knife would be held by her, and used not for attacking immediately, but for slicing a thin layer of cloth around her belly button. Quickly, she made a quick tourniquet, cinching the blood flow from her arm. She held that arm near her side.
"... moronic. I must never assume! You forget what Suzumi-chan taught you! Every opponent is an Espada unless proven otherwise!" She shook her head, the long locks bouncing with every motion. "... it seems ... that phoenixes do bleed ..." A wry smile twisted her features. "However, blood signifies death; and for a phoenix, death is not the end." The glistening black blade of the Uchigatana was held in her hand, the leather-wrapped hilt gripped with a firm, but easily shiftable, grip.
Yet she did not press the attack; with the blood flow stopped for now, she could focus on battle, though unless the tourniquet is taken off soon, it could spell problems of the amputatory type. Though this battle would be forced to end soon, Katrina was not focused on that; she was focused on her opponent. She began a slow battle march, the elegant, sensual, ageless dance of the wilds that heralded any great story. Yet she did not attack. Her sapphire eyes watched her opponent as she closed the distance, her sword crossing across her chest to protect against any sudden attacks.
Remaining Reaitsu: [+100 for Kido not fired] 475/500
His strike was true. Her reactions were so slow. Itou knew he could keep using shunpo or keep out speeding her for the rest of the match, that speed definitely needed improving. Now when Itou saw the blood gush out of the wound he simply looked at the wound. Katrina had made a mistake, Itou was already holding his sheath. It was a sword and sheath style. He always held his sheath in one of his hands. So unfortunately Katrina couldn’t defend against the blow because he had been holding the sheath and he had attacked as soon as he had sliced her arm open. This meant her nose would be broken, she would be sent flying to the ground and she wouldn’t be able to stop her blood flow.
Around now more blood would be dripping out the wound and going on the floor. She would be sent on the ground, her arm bleeding out. Itou simply looked at the blood on his sword, it was all around his sword and dripping from it. He examined it, he took his finger and wiped some blood on his finger, he then popped it into his mouth and pretty much drank the blood. “All that beautiful blood has stained my sword. How...unfortunate!” Itou mused to out loud. Katrina would then see a flash of craziness in his eyes, a quick psychotic smirk would be on his face for a second then return to his stoic expression.
Why had Itou done this? Because he was pretty psychotic that’s why. He hid it under his stoic expression but on the inside, deep beneath his flesh he was a pretty crazy person. In his human life he had been a killer, he wasn’t a killer much now but he was still pretty crazy. The urge to kill was boiling, it made his blood boil. He needed to see some blood, he needed to see some death. He had to see it all, he had to see it, there had to be a way. This was just a small part of Itou’s messed up mind. He was tempted to kill Katrina, he wanted to kill Katrina.
Would it be worth it? I could slay her and say it was a training accident. Would the Kawada care? Would the academy care? There would be consequences. I haven’t killed in such a long time. I need to kill, I need to fulfil that urge. No I must restrain myself, there will be plenty of time for that when I graduate. But it’s in five fucking years! The inner battle in Itou was raging. What would he do? Suddenly a raspy, more sinister voice crept up in his head.
Kill the bitch.[/I]
Itou’s thought process stopped instantly. What was that? It sounded eerily familiar. Should he obey it? His thought process happened in a single second and he realized where he was. He was about to finish her off! He then thought up a quick plan in his head. He knew she wouldn’t be able to track his shunpo, she was too slow and had such a weak reaction mind. She couldn’t even track him, he had a speed difference normally, Itou knew this now and he could attack. He didn’t even smile, he began walking towards her.
He then looked at her with the scowl that was on his face a lot. Suddenly he disappeared again, it was another shunpo, where would he appear, in front? Behind? The side? Above? So many places he could appear, in the end he would literally shunpo’d onto her left hand. This would cause an immense amount of pain due to Itou’s own weight and her low strength. He would then try to stab his katana into her other hand, he was still somewhat holding the hilt so she couldn’t try to wrench it out of her hand, she probably couldn’t anyway so he wasn’t generally worried. He then used the sheath and slammed it into her face again, twice this time. Since she had no points in any tiers of pain this would be excruciating for her hands and face.
After the two hard whacks he would then wrenched the katana from her ruined hand (considering she hasn’t avoided in some way) and would then jump off. He looked at her sternly, what would she do? How could she react to his attacks? She was on the floor and Itou had shunpo’d onto her hand without any hesitation (the thinking bit had not taken long at all). She wouldn’t be able to cast kido because of the pain she was in, with no points in any tiers of pain she wouldn’t be able to cast kido while in that pain. She wouldn’t be able to shunpo because she was on her back. What would she do?
