Rave smirked as he watched Sozen square off with the one-armed vizard. It seemed that he’d be dealing with her while he left Rave to deal with Shiga by himself. Well that was fine with him. Shiga somehow had shown the ability absorb the runes he placed. The Ogatago had also demonstrated this ability when he absorbed the cero and bala directed at him. This led the captain to believe that only reiatsu-based attacks could be abosrbed. If this was the case then Rave had attacks that he was sure Shiga would be unable to use this ability on. The captain was thinking of two attacks in particular which cost reiatsu, yet they themselves were not reiatsu-based at all. In bankai, Rave was granted two attacks that shot out momentum-draining energy made out of pure momentum. There was nothing reiatsu-based about these two attacks other then the fact that they cost reiatsu to preform.
Either way, he and Shiga would be squaring off, so before Shiga charged at him Rave plunged his zanpakutou into the ground. “Bankai...” said the shinigami as the ground around them flattened and a circular design appeared on the ground with Rave at its center. The circle had a radius of 100 yards, so many other people would be caught inside the captain’s bankai as well. Sozen and Sayu would be in this group of people along with Shiga. However, the ground around them wasn’t the only thing that changed with the release of his bankai. Rave’s sword transformed into exactly what Shiga had seen two weeks ago. He kept a sword just like the one he used in shikai during bankai so that he wouldn’t be unarmed during his final stage of release. It was this sword which Rave immediately withdrew from the ground upon the Ogatago’s assault and easily blocked the monster’s straightforward attack. Shiga was faster than him, but not so fast that the captain was unable to keep up with his movements and erect a quick defense. However, the reason which the Ogatago’s speed had not allowed him to hit Rave was simple. During the captain’s bankai, everything within five yards of him would slow down by half its speed. This was a result of the captain’s absolute momentum control.
Shiga’s blade collided with Rave’s own and regardless of the Ogatago’s superior strength, it came to an abrupt halt upon touching the captain’s sword. Shiga would find himself unable to even withdraw his sword from the strike at all as all its momentum was completely and entirely negated. It would be impossible for Shiga to move his zanpakutou for as long as the captain’s sword was touching his sword, and even if he let go of it, the zanpakutou would not fall to the ground. While Shiga stood within five yards of Rave his movements would also be slowed by half, which would give Rave the speed advantage for as long as the fight was close range. With one release Rave had effectively taken away Shiga’s speed advantage and his strength advantage. The captain was not done there, however. Before Shiga would even realize his predicament, Rave was already preforming a counterattack. Cero and bala were flying in every direction on the battlefield, but within Rave’s bankai, the projectile count was much lower. This was because every single kidou, cero, or projectile attack that flew over the border of the huge circle was immediately redirected as the captain saw fit. This meant that a space existed on the battlefield with a diameter of two hundred yards that extended infinitely into the sky which redirected attacks. This space was massive and hundreds, if not thousands of attacks hit the bankai’s edge every moment. This gave Rave control over the direction of countless cero, bala, and kidou. The captain’s bankai was incredibly well-suited for this battle in particular.
The captain made it so that a few cero would take out Shiga from his left side. These cero would hurt him quite a bit, but not cause so big of an explosion that they’d injure Rave as well. The captain was going about this intelligently. He didn’t want to cause some big explosion directly on his location. As for the other projectiles that flew over the border of his bankai, Rave directed them in such a way that they’d take out any small-fry enemies that happened to be inside his bankai. He could keep projectiles flying right at them as long as people kept firing ranged attacks in his bankai’s direction. A few cero and a hadou spell would be directed at Sayu as well to give Sozen an opening to attack. Rave’s bankai gave him an unlimited supply of ranged attacks in this war, but he knew that Shiga had shown the ability to absorb reiatsu-based attacks, which is why he expected him to use it before he was hit. However, the cero directed at him were simply a distraction. It would take awhile for them to cover the 100 yards between the bankai’s borders and where Rave and Shiga were standing, so during that time the captain’s blade quickly slid down Shiga’s, remaining in contact with it the entire time assuming he hadn’t abandoned his zanpakutou.
The Ogatago would be unable to move his sword, and soon the bankai blade passed over its guard and touched the Ogatago’s arm. Now the Ogatago’s arm would be unable to move at all as it would lose all ability to acquire any type of momentum. But Rave wouldn’t stop here. As soon as the Ogatago’s arm was frozen, Rave would turn his blade down and touched the sharp portion of his zanpakutou to the Ogatago’s elbow instead of the flat portion. With one swift motion he cleaved the paralyzed arm clean off causing red blood to spray everywhere. Unless Shiga did something before Rave’s sword reached his arm, the Ogatago would be losing his dominant arm. The entire process would happen before the cero even reached Shiga, so he’d have no absorbed reiatsu to fire out at Rave. This would all happen according to Rave’s plan assuming that Shiga didn’t do something to prevent it and stop Rave. Hopefully if blood was spilled then Sozen could finish thing off quickly. Rave knew of Sozen’s ability to attack using the color red. During their two weeks in the tunnels Rave and Sozen had shared things about their abilities that would make it easier to work together. Rave had told Sozen of his ability to control objects with momentum while Sozen had gone over his zanpakutou’s abilities to attack with red. Rave and Sozen would be working together twice as well as they were before now that they’d had two weeks to strategize.
