-Basic Information-
Name: Kyomei Kuchiki
Age of Death: 21
Real Age/Age of Appearance: Kyomei looks as though he is aged 37, when in reality he is 782 years old.
Birthday (Month/Day): May 17th
Blood Type: A-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Appearance-
Height/Weight: [5'3"/124]
Physical Description:
{Kyomei Reference Image}
Although he is of fairly average height, Kyomei always stands straight up, his posture perfect and unwavering. The way he holds his head up, his eye level always parallel to the ground prevents him from appearing neither condescending nor oppressed. This erect posture and strong commitment to eye contact is an obvious overcompensation for his physical form. Calling him bony would be an understatement. He is well built, with lean muscles and a firm set of abs, though his fingers are thin and long, quite unbecoming of a man of his apparent age. However, his thin frame moves with ease, his fingers are nimble and his movements fluid in form.
Kyomei's brown hair falls down a bit past his eye level. Unruly hair is unacceptable, and he often secures it towards the back of his head with an elastic band from his wrist. Doing this, his light brown eyes can be clearly seen. Those eyes of dichotomy, rugged in color but piercing in hue, set firmly forward without emotion yet guard an inner spark of life and energy. Eyes of balance between two extremes. His face, and figure as a whole, is characterized by his youthful complexion. His skin is smooth and unscarred, and fairly tan in tone. He is always clean shaven, though that is not too much of an issue since he could barely grow any facial hair if he wanted to. The only blemish in his face is a very pale white patch of skin on his forehead that refuses to tan with the skin around it. When not secured, his hair is always positioned to cover the small patch of skin.
His clothing is kept in a pristine manner, without wrinkles or stains. He wears it loosely about him so as to mask his diminutive mass. Other than its perfectly well kept appearance, nothing much really stands out as being different, other than the five elastic bands he wears on each wrist. Each has its own color, yellow, blue, green, brown, and black. The yellow band is his favorite, always kept closest to the end of his arm, so that he can more easily remove it in order to secure his hair back if need be. Underneath the bands, on his right arm, is a long, thin scar that stretches down to the elbow joint, the reminder of a pact sealed in blood.
Usually, Kyomei can be found in his Shinigami uniform, however in a formal occasion he wears clothes with a bit more class. As one of the noble Kuchiki house, formal occasions are in high frequency, thus it wouldn’t be completely abnormal to see him dressed for such an event. When showing up somewhere that a military uniform is not considered proper, Kyomei turns to more formal, Japanese style attire. A silk black Hakama, blue Haori, and matching shirt is often what he wears to events in the Soul Society. However, in the Land of the Living, when he chooses to travel to an Opera or a symphony, he wears a black tuxedo and Fedora. Even in formal garb, however, he wears his weaponry in case of attack. It is a war time, after all.
Kyomei has considerable strength of reiatsu, and when he flexes it, it gives off a bright yellow glow. The feel of his reiatsu is warm, but not in a comforting way, but more in a stifling way, an uncomfortable heat. If he is exerting his reiatsu, whether it be for show or for force, the ground begins to groan under the strain. Small cracks begin to form in rock underfoot, grass begins to curl up and whither, close by water begins to evaporate rapidly. The incredible force caused by the Kuchiki’s powerful reiatsu is typical of Shingami like him, Technique Masters, the ones without Zanpakutou.

-Personality-
Dislikes:
- Wanton Violence – It brings about nothing but hurt and suffering that can spread far beyond the immediate situation. People who desire violence above all else and will fight for no cause can never be fully trusted.
- Coffee – It has a repugnant smell that makes my stomach curdle and the taste is downright awful. And the caffeine isn’t even helpful in the long run, so it has no purpose at all.
- The Full Moon – It is just a giant orb in the sky, like a giant eye, staring down at you. It makes me shiver inside to think that some giant being up above is staring down at me, judging me but not ever doing anything about it… Stupid moon.
- The single most disgusting thing is other people's vomit. It smells, it is incredibly difficult to wash the stench out of elastic bands, and it belongs in a trash receptacle or some private area away from people. No one should have to look at or smell something so repulsive as another's digestive fluids and half-digested foods.
- Injustice – this is not how the world should be. The exploitation and oppression of the weak is sickening and cowardly. No matter the reason, to upset the balance of how the world should be is unforgivable.
- Hollows – By their very nature they are abominations of Injustice, and are incapable of becoming balanced and in tune with Order. They cannot be trusted nor allowed the luxury of existence.
- The Color Red – It, by nature, is the manifestation of anger, violence and massacre. It is the color of unnecessary bloodshed and oppression. I refuse to wear such a color of imbalance.
- The Arrogant – those who feel that they are above others by right of birth or by right of rank are contemptible. I do not care for their self-righteous attitudes. Your manner of birth does not give you the ability to spit upon the less fortunate and look down your nose at them, not in the slightest.
- Free Verse Poetry – It doesn’t even deserve to be called poetry. It is sloppy and disorganized, without rhyme and resonance. It takes the beauty of true poetry and drags it through the muck for the lower classes to enjoy. Not worth one’s time at all.
Likes:
- Yellow – Yellow. Yellow. Yellow. Yellow! Everything about the color yellow is so perfect, the other colors are barely necessary. It is the color of warm sunshine, bright enough to make hope in a dark gloomy situation. All in all, it is the best.
- Pie – What is there not to like? There are so many types of pie that the thought of can bring forth saliva. Warm gooey apple pie, tasty sweet peach pie, thick wholesome pot pie, all of these pies are so good. And because of the variety of pies, one could eat nothing but pies and still have all of the nutrition they need!
- PISTACHIOS – The roasted, salted nuts are just so addictive. Entire bags have disappeared overnight because they’re just that good.
- ‘True’ Poetry – Poetry whose words are sweet on the lips, resonant to the ears, and intellectually deep, that is true poetry. This poetry has the ability to calm, inspire, or assist in deep meditation on the world. This poetry is worth reading and absorbing, integrating it into one’s own mind and life.
- Being punctual – Beinglate is unacceptable not only to others, but to his own sense of pride. Being late can cause unnecessary tensions or pain, so being punctual is a necessity.
- Music – The best kind of music is music with soft notes and calm melodies. Music to relax the soul and rest weary bones. Any sort of peaceful music nearby is bound to be observed by him with haste.
- The Violin – Of the classical instruments, the violin is supreme. Its soft somber tone and the long clear notes that come from that smoothly drawn bow are so perfect in resonation. Utterly unmatched in sound.
- Storytelling – One of my favorite things to hear is others recount stories of their past. Especially from their human lives. I cannot remember my own human life, and hopefully eventually I will hear the story that involves me…
Flaws:
- Kyomei is quite stubborn and unwilling to back down even when he is obviously wrong. He almost never backs down from a challenge. This manifests in an extremely blind but strong sense of loyalty.
- Kyomei’s perfectly clear complexion is disrupted by the mysterious pale white blemish on his forehead.
- Following some very traumatic events when dealing with the Ogatago, he is prone to get very emotional around certain objects, like pink clothing. These emotional outbursts can even surpass his mastery over his mind, in some cases.
- Kyomei is addicted to pistachios. His pockets simply ooze with pistachios at times because he loves them so much.
- After experiences in the Ogatago base, being exposed to the terror of Hell, the order of Kyomei’s brain functions were switched around. As a result, he has developed synesthesia. When people talk, he sees their speech color as a cloud coming from their mouth. When he fires Kidou or is hit by it, he gets a taste in his mouth that is characteristic of the element.
Habits:
- Kyomei is extremely well organized. Obsessively so. Everything has its proper place, and by trying to upset that proper place only serves to wreck the delicate balance of the Order of things.
- Kyomei also obsessively imposes his organization upon others, constantly adjusting their things to be just right also.
- When made extremely nervous, Kyomei will begin to instinctively twirl loose strands of his hair or just hide his face behind his hair in order to avoid displaying too much emotion to others.
- Kyomei has gotten into the habit of training the weaker, newer Shinigami, fostering them so that they may grow stronger.
- When Kyomei meets someone new, almost instinctively he comments on their color that they speak in.
Fears:
- Kyomei fears being unable to stop Injustice from being carried out, fears that he will not be able to carry out Justice on those worthy of a complete purge from existence.
- Kyomei by far fears the most that by becoming a Shinigami for too long, he will lose his sense of self and devolve into someone who can kill without regret. To lose his need for Justice would be to lose himself completely to Darkness and Despair.
- Kyomei fears the horrors of evil, such as the rape and torture that he witnessed created by the Game Master. To witness such horrors anew and be yet powerless is something the Kuchiki dreads.
- Ka-Ek, and beings like him, that are of such cruel demeanor that they kill for fun, and are good at it too, unnerve Kyomei. Ka-Ek, in particular, who was able to cut down his comrades without breaking a sweat, is to be feared.
Goals:
- Kyomei hopes, that by becoming a Shinigami, and training to become powerful, he can stop tragedy before it strikes and right the wrongs of Injustice. He will not stop learning and training until he can put an end to the suffering of those whom he cares about.
- Another goal of Kyomei’s is to recover his lost memories in order to understand why he must pursue Justice at all costs. Little else is as important as having a reason to fight for and save others.
- With his natural strength, Kyomei desires to raise up a generation of warriors that are able to fight back the powers of the Arrancar and of Hell itself in order to maintain the peace, keeping the flow of souls in constant harmony. For that reason, he seeks to train any and all Shinigami that would come to him.
- The ultimate goal in life is to achieve perfect balance in every aspect of one’s body and spirit. If you believe that you have achieved perfect balance, then your pride must be in check. Thus life is an endless uphill journey towards bettering oneself.
Alignment: [Passive Good]
Overall Personality:
Kyomei is a generally warm-hearted soul. He takes pleasure in helping others see their true potential, becoming known across the Soul Society as one who trains the freshly graduated Shinigami. Although this is a generally good thing, he’s been known to have less than supportive teaching methods, such as turning someone into a puppet and roughing them up in order to get them to fight with their full strength. Though he doesn’t always use the best methods, his intent is always to improve the other whom he is facing at the moment. He nearly always holds back against his opponents, because his full power is often too much for the regular Shinigami.
Though Kyomei is a fairly patient and light hearted person, like most people he can be pushed over the edge. Get him worked up with a fun and challenging fight, or piss him off, and like anyone he’ll fight with all he’s got. In social interactions, it’s actually very hard to get him to react to taunts or jest. He just tanks insults and such and hides them under his skin, letting them out later into some other medium. However, alcohol has been known to reduce his immunity to goading. He’s not a very violent drunk, he just lets out what is on his mind, even if the recipient could drive him through the floor with their sneeze.
Kyomei tries very hard to get along with other people, especially his adopted family. Even though they may treat him poorly, spit upon him, he tries to make himself one of them, mainly by bringing glory and honor to the Kuchiki name. Though he disagrees with Hokori’s attitude, he is respectful of the man’s learned nature and strength. He is incredibly in awe of Sozen, who is a very encouraging and charismatic leader, not to mention a very strong and fierce fighter. Though he rarely gets to meet the formerly lost Kuchiki, Iro, from what he has seen he agrees with the man’s philosophy for life.
Among other things, Kyomei’s a bit of a crazy person. If he had lived in different times, or in the Land of the Living, he’d probably be in an insane asylum due to his traumatic memories and what they invoke. Being around the color pink is uncomfortable to him, even to the point of causing him to snap, at times. If that wasn’t enough, the synesthesia is cause to take him to the loony house. Seeing sounds is not a normal thing in the least, which makes him different from others, weird. Tasting Kidou is definitely strange, though he’s really the only one who would know that it occurs, unless he tells someone about it, so that half of his synesthesia doesn’t result in too much alienation from others.

-Powers-
Overall Ability:
Kyomei has no Zanpakutou. The power of his reiatsu creates too strong of a barrier for a Zanpakutou spirit to commune through. Kyomei is incapable of forming any type of blade due to the nature of his reiatsu pressure. Instead, Kyomei has a much increased reiatsu strength and mastery of reiatsu. His power allows him to do things that most people can only dream about. Without a Zanpakutou to guide him or support him, Kyomei has to rely much more on Kidou. However, his manipulation of Kidou is much different than the common Shinigami. With no Zanpakutou to limit the growth of his reiatsu, it developed into a unique form over time.
Kyomei's style of Kidou manipulation is based on tapping into the innate Aura of Kidou. All Kidou at its most basic component is one of two things, reiatsu or some sort of elemental force. Most Hado type Kidou are elemental in form, and most Bakudo type Kidou are mostly made of reiatsu. By tapping into the most basic nature of each kind of Kidou, Kyomei is able to ensure the maximum power of the Kidou is used, even when the incantation is not used. Even at the speed of thought, Kyomei's mastery over Kidou and his reiatsu strength allow him to keep up the strength to regular levels.
Kyomei's power over the innate form of Kidou doesn't stop at just ensuring the maximum power of the Kidou is used, it goes well beyond that. When the incantation is used or the Kidou is mastered Kyomei is able to use the innate form of the Kidou to reinforce itself. Kidous that are Reiatsu based in form are more resistant to being broken and Kidous that are elemental in form are more potent in that element. Kidou that is reinforced in this manner possess a reiatsu strength that is equal to 150% of Kyomei’s own. This includes Bakudo and Hado alike. By speaking the incantation or simply speaking the name of the Kidou, he is able to draw upon the inner strength that is sealed below.
The ultimate form of Kyomei's power over Kidou goes beyond the surface of the Kidou. Tapping into the innate form of the Kidou and actually pulling it out of the Kidou, he can harness the True Aura of Kidou. This Aura is rarely found in Bakudo, seeing as they are mostly reiatsu based, and instead is very common in Hado type Kidou. The True Aura of the Kidou is an extension of the Kidou's elemental properties. This True Aura has a different level of effect depending on the power of the Kidou. In all forms, the elemental effect of the Kidou is extended past the surface of the Kidou itself. This Aura cannot be seen without 100 energy sensory.
Low level Kidou, classed 7 or 6, has less of an Aura to tap into, and thus has a low area of effect. A Byakurai, for example, would only be able to increase the electrical effect by a few inches. Medium level Kidou, classed 5 or 4, would have a bit more of an Aura to tap into, and would be able to extend the elemental effects two feet from the surface of the Kidou. High level Kidou is extremely powerful, and has an Aura that extends three yards. Extending the True Aura past the boundaries of the surface of the Kidou requires at least the name of the Kidou to be called out, as well as prevents any of the other strengths of Kyomei's abilities from being used. Without an incantation, it won't be full strength without mastery. With an incantation, it won't be strengthened.
Tapping into the elemental Aura of Kidou can have one other application for Kyomei. It can pretty much only be used with Low level Kidou, and not even some of those. By striking himself with his own Kidou or being struck with another's Kidou, he can absorb the True Aura of the Kidou and exude it himself. Obviously great care must be taken in order to ensure that the attack does not kill himself, but if he does survive the attack, he will have an aura capable of extending off of every inch of his body. This Aura will only extend the same distance that the Kidou's Aura would. If he wants to, some part of the Aura may be purposefully excluded or included at a moment’s notice, such as underneath his feet if he wishes. Kyomei’s clothes are not subject to the effects of the Auras, and he is also immune to their effects if he wihses as they are coming from his body.
When the Aura that Kyomei exudes is Wind, there are certain effects that come with it. Wind Auras continuously push outwards from Kyomei, giving him a slight bounce on his feet that doesn’t really help him, but looks good. These winds push with his reiatsu strength, so melee combat can cause enemies to be pushed back much farther than a normal punch would. At the Small level, someone would be pushed back a few feet from being struck by Kyomei’s palm. At the Medium level, they would be pushed back a few yards, and easily floored if they weren’t ready for the few feet of wind pushing at them. At the Large level, they would be sent flying. In addition, starting at the medium level, the Wind Aura is somewhat useful in adjusting the path of projectiles and melee weapons. At the Large level, flight is possible as the many yards of wind continuously push Kyomei from the ground.
The Auras of Fire and Electricity are fairly self-explanatory, and do not have a large difference in effect depending on size. The electricity and fire does not increase in potency with the increase in size, however the larger size does mean that the target is subjected to a greater area of the Aura, thus it would do more damage in that regard. With his incredibly large reiatsu strength, the electricity Aura is capable of rendering a target unconscious if they remain in contact with it, and the Fire aura is easily able to cause burns and set opponents ablaze from the heat. On a side note, the fire aura does not actually radiate fire, but rather extreme heat that can cause fires if something flammable enters the field.
The Aura of Water is chilling, and causes the one who enters it to feel very cold. At the medium size, and especially the large size, coming within the area of influence of the Aura causes the user to start to succumb to the pressure caused by the simulated depths of the seas. They lose the ability to breathe if they get fully “submerged” in the Aura, as if they were under water. The Aura of Stone is the only Aura that does not have a size difference depending on the Class of Kidou used. Instead, it creates a layer of reiatsu that is equivalent to that much stone. A small stone Kidou would create a layer that would require Strength or RS that was half as powerful as Kyo’s RS to pierce. A medium would require strength or RS equal to Kyo’s RS, and a large would require 150% of Kyo’s RS. The Aura of Metal is equal to the Aura of Stone, though the reiatsu layer is doubly effective as the stone layer.
There exists a Primal Aura that Kyomei is able to use as well. This primal aura is found in the Kidou without element, most often in Bakudo but also some Hado as well. This Primal Aura can be used to increase the size of effect of a Kidou that doesn’t have an element by the same amount that the elemental Kidou are able to be increased in size. Applying the Primal Aura to himself actually has no real effect on his enemies, as the Aura doesn’t have a physical property like the elemental ones do, that would allow it to interact well with the battlefield. It does, however, naturally increase his physical stats by 10% However, there is a way that the Primal Aura, as well as all of the elemental auras, can be more effective, and that is by focusing them into Kyomei’s own body.
By consuming an already active Aura, Kyomei can focus it inside himself, thus increasing his abilities. For small auras, the increase in the stat is 10%, for medium auras, 20%, and for large auras, 30%. Electrical Auras increase speed, Fire auras increase cutting strength (not RS of techniques though), Wind Auras increase senses, Stone and steel auras increase strength, and water auras increase instincts. When a Primal Aura is focused inwards, the physical stat increase is raised to 25%. This internal Aura will only last for 5 posts. Also, starting at medium, there is internal damage caused by the foreign presence. A medium sized Aura can cause internal pain due to his organs starting to be bruised by the strain. A large sized Aura will cause internal bleeding after 2 posts, which can severely hamper Kyomei’s ability to fight. All Primal Kidou regardless of Class come with the medium size drawbacks and get no boost for being large size.
Fighting Style:
Kyomei heavily relies on his mastery of Kidou in combat. Versatility is Kyomei’s main strength with his use of Kidou. By having a large arsenal of Kidou, he can apply many different Kidous to a variety of situations. Having a large arsenal of Kidou, however, is predictable. Versatility in combat is about being unpredictable and unique. By mixing Kidous, Kyomei strives to be infinitely versatile. By the very nature of some Kidous, they are perfect for combination. Kidous that travel through surfaces are perfect for imbuing other Kidous with more properties, allowing them to be used in more ways. This keeps the enemy on their toes and they must be very cautious in battle.
Kyomei is no stranger to hand to hand combat. His speed and agility make up for his lack of brute strength. Just as water can, over time, wear down the strongest of stones, so too can many blows wear down the strongest of opponents. Kyomei’s speed allows him to get around opponents with greater ease to deliver smaller attacks that will eventually wear down an opponent. Speed and agility is also important to Kyomei’s fighting style if he gets his hands onto a blade. Nimbly maneuvering a sword past an enemy’s defenses is much better than trying to hack away at their defenses until they break. Agility and Speed can bring down the mightiest of opponents, just as with David and Goliath.
Kyomei's unique Kidou style allows him to keep up, even exceed, the strength of his Kidou. Kyomei can force his opponents to submit to his strength, and cause much more damage with his Kidou. He can ensure that he is getting the most out of his Kidou and even push at the limits of that strength. Kidou is Kyomei's power. Whereas with hand to hand or swordsmanship, where speed is necessary, Kyomei has the strength to overwhelm his opponents when it comes to Kidou, and he doesn't hesitate to. Strength and force characterizes his Kidou usage.
Due to him becoming part of the noble Kuchiki house, Kyomei has trained in and formed the Combat Style of the Kuchiki Floating Rose Style, using his proficiency of Acrobatics. Kyomei can fight with this style in all forms, due to his 3 in Acrobatics.
{Kuchiki Floating Rose Style}
This style requires at least a 1 in acrobatics though a 2 or 3 is required for the more complex forms. Though not as skillful as the other honorable Kuchiki styles, this one is for those practitioners who have only gained slight proficiency in acrobatics The style of the Floating Rose is a more sophisticated and graceful form of the style known as Drunken boxing. By having some knowledge of acrobatics, the user can contort their body in a very loose and adaptive stance that serves to allow forces to move it, like a rose petal flitting on the breeze. With a 1 in acrobatics, the Kuchiki is able to let any attack striking their legs or outstretched arms (providing the attack is blunt in nature) to move them rather than impact them. Meaning, if an attack is targeted towards the leg, the Kuchiki lets the momentum of the attack propel them into a flip or a cartwheel depending on the direction of the attack. This can serve to set up a future attack for the Kuchiki.
With a 2 in Acrobatics, the Kuchiki has enough of a knowledge of the motion of the body to be able to flow with the momentum of attacks that would normally cut them. Meaning, if a blade were to strike out at the Kuchiki's legs, they could do the same flip or cartwheel that Kuchiki with a 1 could do with a blunt attack. In addition to this, the Kuchiki is able to expand this style to their head and torso area in regards to blunt attacks. When a Kuchiki's head or torso area is struck by a blunt attack, be it a punch or a baseball bat, if the Kuchiki has at least three quarters of the speed of the opponent, then they can use that momentum to guide themselves gently out of the way, instead of take the full brunt of the damage. If a Kuchiki has a 3 in acrobatics, then they can do this with cutting attacks as well.
The downside to this style is that it still requires the Kuchiki to be struck, and can never fully negate a cutting attack. Whereas blunt attacks will be fully negated due to the lack of impact required to actually deal damage, with a cutting attack there will still be a slight scratch from where the cutting object was pressed. The scratch may bleed slightly if the acrobatic maneuver required the blade to press against them for a decent amount of time.

Kyomei's growth in solely his reiatsu abilities, without a Zanpakutou to call his own has manifested in an extremely talented use of Kidou. Few alive can match Kyomei's skill with it, and because of this, he has gone over and beyond the realm of what's normal with Kidou. With his 3 in Kidou, Kyomei has mastered the use of Kidou to the point where charging reiatsu is like breathing to him. It comes so naturally that stronger abilities that usually take awhile to charge can happen very quickly for him. Though this does not supersede the need for incantations in some Kidous, if he has mastered the Kidou he is able to fire it mentally and without a massive long charge. For instance, Hado 88 for a normal Shinigami would take a very long time to charge as they were stating the name to give it power. For Kyomei, it should take no more than three, four seconds to charge it and if he felt like it, and had mastered it, then he could fire it mentally if he had charged the reiatsu for that amount of time.
With Kyomei's 3 in Kidou Combination, he becomes versatile in his use with Kidou. For Kyomei, Kidou has two base components, form and effect. For instance, the form of Kyakko is a field in which light is bent, and the effect of Kyakko is the bending. So, by applying the effect of Kyakko on something like Enkosen, he could take the form of Enkosen, being a shield, and bend it into a shape he desired. Some Kidou, like Kyakko, do not have a form that is able to be manipulated, because their form is directly caused by their effect. Kyomei is not able to take Sho and make a field around him based on the properties of Kyakko, it just doesn't make logical sense. However, Kyomei could use the effect of Kyakko on the form and effect of Sho to make a projectile that would push things, but could also be bent around corners and such.
