"Yare yare.... this has been an eventful day...." Kaen commented, strolling through the wreckage of the Fake Karakura Town. He had fully recovered from his earlier battle with the giant hollow, and had almost immediately been sent back out. He was told reinforcements were on the way, but that he'd have to secure the position. Great..... And these guys were supposed to be pretty strong. For once Kaen actually felt a tingle run down his spine. Was this what fear was like?
Kaen gave himself a quick smack across the face. Agh. Even if I'm feeling a bit of fear that's fine. My opponent is strong. It'd be wrong if I wasn't a little bit scared. But I have to put on a strong face. I'm a noble of Soul Society. I can't be intimidated so easily. He reminded himself as he advanced. He'd heard Manabu Brock was coming as well. Kaen wasn't sure how to feel about that. He'd sparred against Brock before. He was truly a fearsome opponent when fighting someone at roughly his level. But this guy was likely even superior to Kaen. He hoped that his suboordinate would be alright.
Hachiryuu was in the third seat's hands. It was still in its sheath, but it was still unusual to see it so readily available. Kaen was notably a hand to hand fighter over a blade user, so to see him so readily prepared to draw his blade was unusual. Still, Kaen didn't know what to expect, so it was best to have it on hand and ready. He may have to release in short order. If that was the case, it was only best to be well prepared for it. Kaen's movement gave no hint of this, as it was a very casual gait, but nonetheless, Kaen's senses were on high alert.

Manabu Brock was extremely excited. He was being dispatched to an actual battle! He'd been given dangerous assignments before and had often engaged in combat, but this was different. This was purely and decidedly a combat situation. Furthermore, it must be a bad combat situation or large-scale at the very least. Division 7 is law enforcement, and Manabu is a regular officer. His being sent here means there's a shortage of available officers.
Manabu had been ordered to join his squad's third seat, Kaen Youji. They had trained together before, and Manabu was confident in his superior's superior abilities. Luckily, Kaen was familiar with Manabu's weaknesses. He won't be caught off guard by them.
Manabu suddenly appeared in front of Kaen. He was thinking about coming in behind him, but it was obvious that he was on edge. His zanpakuto was already in his hand, and if he knocked Manabu unconscious the moment he arrived, he wouldn't be much help here. Of course, Manabu had changed a little since their last session. Maybe it wouldn't be quite so easy to knock him unconscious this time around. It was dangerous, and Manabu was certainly aware that he could die in this situation, but the excitement forced a slight smirk onto his face. Despite that, his eyes were sharpened, his ears were perked, and any other receptors he had available were working at full capacity. He maintained his breathing though, and he wasn't quite as nervous as Kaen.
"Konichiwa, Dai-san-seki. Manabu Brock reporting for duty."

"Damn... what the hell did I miss?"
Benkei strode through the wreckage of the Fake Karakura Town. Damn, if only he had returned from that mission sooner. He could have helped to turn the tide of the battle. At any rate, he had been sent as reinforcements for one Kaen Youji, a Seated Officer from Enma's division. Benkei had to be careful not to let him get hurt; he was a Captain, but he still knew that fucking with Enma was a bad move. Some say that even his Lieutenant has the power of a Captain.
The level of destruction wrought by the earlier battles surprised even Benkei. If that had been the enemy's advance force, then what was coming up in the main body? Benkei didn't want to admit it, but he was actually kinda nervous for this battle. He felt his spine tingle at the thought of the first challenging battle since Azeru Cho's fall. This was going to be nerve-wracking, dangerous, and life-threatening.
Benkei was fucking excited.
As he approached the rendezvous point, he saw a Shinigami a few meters away with reasonably strong spiritual power smack himself in the face, probably to calm his nerves. Another approached him from the front. Both appeared battle-ready.
"Hey, guys. I take it one of you is Kaen Youji? I'm Captain Akashi of Ninth Division," Benkei greeted, closing the distance to stand close to the others. He worried that they might get caught off guard, but he had pretty strong Reiatsu, so they would probably sense his arrival. "I'm the reinforcments." Benkei placed his left hand on the handle of his sword, ready to unsheathe and release it quickly in case a threat appeared. He was armed with his chain whip and three wires, coiled at his right and left hip respectively. He also carried his Hiro Kaname merchandise in his pockets. He was ready for any threat... at least, he hoped.
Goku, an impressive Arrancar to say the least. Jet black hair that was a short buzzcut, and daring black eyes that taunted anyone to look into them. His face was pretty playful and joyous looking, his physical appearance said that he looked around 22. He had his hands in his pockets. The pockets in question belonged to regular white sweat pants, and he also wore a white t-shirt. His hollow hole was visible where his throat should be. His hollow mask remnant was a baseball cap on his head. The guy didn't look like he'd be fun to fight against. His reiatsu was massive and impressive. He seemed to be one of Asa Escudo's top gun guys. The others had just been warmups. This guy...he was the real deal. He wasn't going to be nearly as easy as any of the enemies that had already been revealed before now. He was...to say the least...going to be a drag to face.
Goku looked at the people present. "Ehhh, not a lively crowd today. You guys look like mediocre hitters, too." His reiatsu started blasting and flaring around his body. Instantly, he released. "Play ball, Diamante!" His reiatsu flared and blasted across the area, and suddenly the place they were in changed. Reiatsu shaped a diamond around them. It was an actual baseball field! The diamond was made of red reiatsu. The pitcher's mound was visible. The in and out fields were visible. The bases and homeplate was visible. Hollow armor had formed to cover Goku, though the armor greatly resembled a baseball outfit. His eyes were hollow eyes at that time, with gold iris and solid black cornea. There were even fences to indicate "home run." Goku's smile was rather large. Instant immobilization had taken over everyone present.
"I'll explain the rules of the game to you, now!" Goku declared. "I am unique among Arrancar! My Ressurection does not possess a time limit! There are 9 innings to my release. This is the duration of a baseball game. Presently, the rules are simple. You are the home team! I am at bat! It's the top of the first! You can throw any attacks you want at me, as many as you want at me. There is a default ball which I will attempt to hit. Your attacks will also be treated as balls! Everything I hit, you better be prepared to respond to! If you don't respond to an attack, I will be on a base! If I'm on all bases, you will hate what happens next." He held out his hand, and a bat made of some white substance instantly materialized in his grasp. Goku smiled very coldly. The bat was in his right hand. A white ball the size of a normal baseball materialized in his left hand immediately. It caught fire in that moment. "Look out. These explode." Goku said. He flicked the ball up into the air in front of him, and then instantly took a batting stance. He smashed the bat into the ball, and it flew forwards. This one was heading for Kaen, who was in fact at first base by coincidence. If it hit, no doubt it would be damaging and it would hurt like hell.
Bad news. His baseball ability is good. He's got four techniques for this one. The first technique is called "Batting." It revolves around the bat. He can use it to hit the balls he generates, just in case you launch no attacks. These balls explode, albeit small explosions. Accumulated, the explosions will kill you. Singular, they do first-second degree burns at worst. Unfortunately, that's the trouble. Not only can he hit these, but he can hit your attacks too. If you use a physical attack, you'll get retaliated against by the full force of the bat, which in fact can shatter every bone in your body. Any attack hit towards you moves at 650 stat speed. You can dodge or defend if possible. If you do this however, he claims a base. To get him "out", you have to take a hit from what he hits at you. Then, he'll do this again. It happens again and again until 3 outs, in which case he changes techniques. Keep in mind, if he loads the bases, the requirements for "Grand Slam" will be open. If he hits the ball while Grand Slam is active, the ball will move at 12,000 in stat speed, and will have the explosive force of fifteen Cero. Filled bases will be indicated by the bases on the field glowing red.
The second technique is "Pitching." These attacks move at 800 in stat speed. They are fast, and burning. They may also explode if not careful. Your goal is to find some way to hit them back at him. If you dodge them, or if they hit you, you are out. Three outs, and it's back to him batting. Anything he throws at you, you have to hit back. Any other thing will put him back at batting eventually. Then again, three out of four of his techniques are in the field phase, so you may want to keep him here as much as possible too.
The third technique is "Catcher." He can create a gigantic glove of white bone-like substance in front of himself. If he does this, it is used to block attacks. It's a defensive technique, that's all. Look out, though. This isn't an easy technique by any means. This will give him even more power, especially for the fourth technique.
The fourth technique is called "Field thrower." If he catches something with catcher, then the balls he creates will gain the same properties as the attack he caught. This makes them even deadlier. The properties never go away. All of them just accumulate on the ball, even if some contradict each other. Worse yet, if he can generate at least three different properties in a ball, you will be forced to defend, because the bases will use a gravitational force to drag you to them. Get ready, he's tough. "What is it that you want me to do, Urahara-San?" Arashi asked, taking a cross legged position. Kisuke took Arashi's broken Zanpakuto from his grasp, and stabbed the remaining half of the blade into him. Arashi gasped. Then, Kisuke proceeded to reach into his robes, and pull out each of the seven Blades of Abhorrence, stabbing those in turn into Arashi. Arashi's eyes widened. "W...wha...?!" he demanded. Kisuke looked at him with sad eyes. "It won't be easy. You have to defeat not just your Zanpakuto's spirit, but the spirit of all 7 Blades of Abhorrence. You have to beat all of them, every single one, before they will give you the power that you need. Before they'll give you the ultimate Saigo No Houmen. You're striving for...Saigo No Akira!" Arashi gasped, and then closed his eyes. Slowly, he began to fade into trance.
Manabu Brock. Here as expected. Kaen gave a curt nod to Brock as he appeared. It seemed the third seat was unusually serious. He needed to lighten up a little! It'd help him focus. Fortunately that was made easier by the newest arrival. "Benkei-taichou. It's an honor to have you here sir." Kaen stated with a smile. And finally, the last member appeared. The man they'd been looking for. Kaen's eyes didn't narrow or anything. Actually he smiled a little. "So. You're the arrancar we've been looking for, huh?" He stated.
The arrancar started to release FAST. Kaen's zanpakuto slid out of its sheath and he placed it against the back of his arm. "Burn Hachiryuu!" He proclaimed and his Zanpakuto flared to life, turning itself into his protective arm brace. He watched the arrancar cautiously as he explained his release's abilities. Kaen frowned, watching as he prepared to hit a ball. And then he hit it! Kaen was alarmed by the speed and reacted instinctively, bringing his arm up defensively. The ball impacted his zanpakuto on his arm, and detonated. Fortunately, Hachiryuu would take the majority of the damage from the hit, but the force did send Kaen back a step.
Kaen glared for a moment, and then it faded as he relaxed. He lifted a hand. "Excuse me arrancar-san. But if you like, I would like to request some clarification." He stated in a relatively polite manner. "First of all." He stated, raising a finger. "Are we forced to play this game? I would imagine that is the case, but I would like to clarify to be certain." He raised a second finger. "Second point. Assuming the former question is true, are there limitations to the types of attacks that can be launched in this game?" He raised a finger. " Third point. Assuming at least one of the former questions is true, are there penalties that exist that we should be aware of?" He asked. Finally he raised a fourth finger. Final point. Are we restricted to the positions normally used in baseball. For example. Am I free to pitch off the pitcher's mound?"
Kaen was keeping his eye on his opponent. He was fast. Both in physical speed, and his balls were even faster. But Kaen had noticed something. He'd have to see another hit to be certain, but he was almost positive that he had seen something. Kaen grinned as Hachiryuu began to shape its flame into a catcher's mitt. "Not an orthodox transformation, I suppose, but it will do~." He commented to himself, and glanced at Brock and Benkei with a bit of a 'do you guys have any ideas?' look.

The first base instantly lit up. Crap. This meant that it was supposed to be a direct hit. Attempting to reduce the damage with a weapon would not work. Goku now had the first base. His eyes were amused as he observed the three. Good. Four of them, and they could play baseball. That should be perfect. He began talking almost immediately. "There are three of you. You can cover the bases for now. From here on out, you really will be restricted to baseball rules. If you wish, you can pitch at me from the mound. At the same time, you can only hit me with projectiles. If you don't play my game, you will increase my power to a level at which you cannot compete. As long as you stand and guard a base, you can't die from any of my attacks, but you can still be injured. Runs will be scored in this game. If the game ends, the loser dies. However, if you can kill me before the game ends, you will not be penalized if you're losing. Don't expect to be able to do that."
"Furthermore, one traditional rule is broken. You will not be able to make double plays or triple plays. If you fail the conditions, the base is occupied. When you are at bat, you will be in possession of red avatars made from my reiatsu. You can command them to run for you, and they can steal bases if you like. However, I will also be using blue avatars of my reiatsu. If you attempt to steal the bases, I can make plays. Right now, while I'm at bat, a few of the rules are ignored. And likewise, just as you can attempt to kill me in this game, I can attempt to kill you! If I succeed, tough luck." Goku was pretty generous in explaining everything. More than likely, he wanted to have a little fun with this power of his. He held out his left hand, though. It glowed, and a new ball materialized. He threw it up, took a stance, and slammed it. It flew fast and viciously towards Benkei. At the same time, he generated another one, threw it up, and batted it.
The ball blasted out towards Brock. He was trying to damage everyone here. This was a problem. To get him out, they'd have to catch it with their bodies, essentially meaning they'd have to take unaided physical contact, and get hurt from it. Meanwhile, they'd also have to be careful. If they just kept taking those hits relentlessly, it was probably death eventually. Sometimes they would have to do something about it. But in that case, it would allow him to get bases. Allowing this guy to get bases should be unacceptable. And, what if he chose not to hit it at them? What if he hit it away? They'd have to move themselves purposely to take the hit. It was a scary thought. They had to take damage to fight against and defeat this guy. This is what made him high in Asa Escudo's forces. He forced enemies to get hurt to fight him at all.
Goku's Remaining Reiatsu: 2600 Reiatsu
Meanwhile. . .
Arashi opened his eyes, revealing that he was in a huge world of blue tiles and sky scrapers and towers. It was his inner world. And in his inner world, there were eight figures observing him. One of them was a young man in a black torn robe, with lengthy black hair and a cold gaze. "Gekko Jikyou." Arashi recognized. It was his Bankai's Zanpakuto spirit. However, there were an additional seven. All of them had a huge aura and presence. One seemed almost godlike with the flames surrounding him, and another sat on a throne with ice surrounding him. They were the spirits of the Blades of Abhorrence. "Arashi..." Gekko Jikyou murmured. "You know what this is." Arashi nodded. He was already in Bankai state within his inner world, and he was holding his blade. "I've got to defeat all of you, right? To get Saigo No Akira." Gekko Jikyou nodded.

This really was a problem. It was a regular catch 22. The three of them couldn't afford to be hit by these balls, especially Manabu, but they couldn't afford not to be git by them. Attacking him directly and avoiding the game seemed like a poor way to go. Manabu could never land a physical hit on someone who outclassed him so much physically. However, any projectile attacks would just be treated as a ball and hit back at the shinigami. On the other hand, Manabu was a lot weaker than this guy. Maybe they'd be better off defending -
EUREKA!
It's a good thing he took so long explaining everything. Manabu ran up to the mound while he was talking and took his stance. Goku was about to materialize another ball.
"Batter up! Sho!" Goku should have no problem with this pitch. If he stepped in front of it, it would be an out for him instead of a base in this twisted game. If he let it go, that would be an out too. He'd have to hit it, and when he did, even if he didn't hit it at someone, one of the other two could get in front of it easily with a shunpo. Two Sho later, there were three outs, and he'd only gotten one base. As they switched places, Manabu decided to make a few appeals.
"Sir, I have a few appeals. There seem to be quite a few things that disqualify all of us from playing. First and foremost, rule 1.01 of the official rules of baseball states, 'Baseball is a game between two teams of nine players each, under direction of a manager, played on an enclosed field in accordance with these rules, under jurisdiction of one or more umpires.' Rule 1.08 states that the home club must provide benches for both teams. The balls and bat are in violation of rules 1.09 and 1.10 section a and d. We were not given an opportunity to provide uniforms in compliance with rule 1.11 section a, subsection 1; section c, subsections 1 AND 2; and section f. It seems we're not able to use gloves in accordance with rules 1.12, 1.13, 1.14, and 1.15."
That was just section 1. Manabu continued on all the way to section 10. When he finished, Goku just stood there with mouth wide open. Suddenly the field made of reiatsu began to dissolve and Goku's bat turned back into a regular katana. Manabu had done it! It wouldn't be a walk in the park, but at least the fight would be a little more straightforward.
Yep, that was the fantasy that flashed across Brock's mind for an instant. Back in reality, things were slightly different.

Benkei was about to respond to Kaen when Goku arrived. Ooh, hey, an enemy. Benkei turned to face the Arrancar as he arrived, taking stock of his enemy. He sensed a pretty powerful Reiatsu in the guy, stronger than even Benkei's by a smidge. he wore loose pants, but his arms were visible, and from the way he moved Benkei could tell that his strength was pretty immense. Benkei laughed out loud at the Arrancar's taunts, grinning. Weak hitter, huh? Heh. We'll see about that.
Suddenly, the Arrancar used his release. Benkei found it intriguing... A baseball-based release. Diamond, bat, the works. Benkei had seen baseball played before on a visit to the human world, so he knew a bit about how it was played. The Arrancar materialized a ball in his hand, smashing it with his bat and sending it rocketing towards Youji. The Third Seat, as resourceful as would be expected of one of Enma's men, had already released his Zanpakutou to defend himself. As the attack impacted, Benkei saw Kaen use his Zanpakutou to dampen the impact of the ball, a base lighting up immediately afterwards. So you had to "respond" to an attack to avoid a base being taken, but that response couldn't be nullifying the damage? Huh. So you had to take a hit from the ball without doing anything to protect yourself.
As the Arrancar answered all of Kaen's questions, Benkei unsheathed his Zanpakutou. "Polarize, Jibaken." Benkei calmly activated his Shikai, ten swords appearing around him. The Arrancar would undoubtedly notice this, but he seemed intent on explaining his powers to Kaen. Pretty polite for an athlete, not to mention an Arrancar.
Benkei saw Brock rush to the pitcher's mound as Goku finished talking. Hmm... he hadn't stipulated that only one of them could pitch at a time, and the pitcher's mound was large enough for them both to pitch. As Brock ran up to it, declaring the name of his Kido, Benkei used Shunpo to join him. Each time Brock used Sho, Benkei moved one of his swords directly in front of Brock's kido and thrust forward with his own magnetism. The combined power of Brock's Sho and Benkei's magnetic thrust would send the three swords rocketing forward at the Arrancar at well over 900 speed, what with all that combined power. It might hit him; even though this guy was really fast and had great reflexes, that sword was bookin' it. Then again, given that this guy was one of the top members of the enemy force, such a basic combo maneuver probably wouldn't take him out. He could very well bat those attacks out of the way, but when he did, Benkei had a response in mind. He and the others weren't going to lose this game. Benkei couldn't let two members of Seventh division die, anyways, or else Enma would probably hunt him down in hell.
Benkei's first tactical error. Assuming his swords could move that fast with Brock's sho. Brock was not nearly strong enough to produce a Sho that gave that kind of speed boost. The blades would not move nearly as quickly as Benkei imagined. Sho was the most basic and weakest Kido, and especially when used by a nonseat, it was of course very weak. That was why Brock had used it. So weak and subtle. Benkei however, ruined it. That was his second error. By adding blades to the sho, he made them far more visible, much easier to combat. That was his mistake, for it gave Goku exactly what he needed to hit almost everything. Instantly, the Arrancar spun. There were three attacks. He could afford one out. He ignored one of the attacks completely, shifting his position to the side and slamming the bat into the first sho/blade combination.
This had a lot of power behind it. That wasn't Goku's physical strength. The bat had amplified it! The blade flew away, heading far off into the distance. No one could get hit by it unless they purposely used a flash step and got in the way. But, did someone really want to get stabbed by a blade moving with that kind of force? It would probably eliminate them from the battle. Goku had also spun. The spinning brought him to hit the second one, while also bringing him out of the way of the third one. That right there was an out, and the second blade flew identical to the first, far away with speed and power. Unless they wanted to get eliminated or something, no one could take a hit from those electrically charged blades powered by that bat. They were moving so quickly in addition to this that Benkei's control would not be able to slow them down on time to stop damage if someone tried to get hit.
This of course resulted in all the bases being lit, unless someone took the hit. Benkei might be able to slow it enough that it wouldn't just blast through the person, but rather stick inside. That would keep them from being eliminated from the fight. However, that was when a ball generated in Goku's left hand. He tossed it up and down. "This is it..." he whispered. "Whichever one of you feels brave, raise your hand. I will defeat you on this turn, and allow the other two to strike me out. A generous deal. Because this is...Grand Slam..."
Sho had been a good idea. The swords, however, seemed to have provided the arrancar an opening to smash the shots back. Kaen glared, as the first sword shot into the sky, too fast to catch. Come on! There has to be something we can do.... those glowing bases must be a part of his power... He saw the base light up as the first sword shot overhead. This was as Goku was spinning to hit the second one. Alright. So if an attack misses us or we block an attack, a base lights up. ....What happens if we take an attack?[/i] Kaen though, and moved instantly.
Kaen shot to the point that the first blade had disappeared to, just as Goku launched the second blade flying. The blade spun through the air, from the collision and slashed deeply into Kaen's shoulder, sending a spray of blood into the air. Hopefully Benkei would reduce the force as much as possible to minimize the injury. Still, this was Bleach, a world where serious injuries to the shoulder region were a dime-a-dozen. Although this blow would cause Kaen a painful, and serious wound, it wouldn't take him out of the fight. Not just yet anyways.
Kaen landed on the ground, breathing a little hard from the wound in his shoulder, taking his mind off the pain by looking at the third base. It hadn't lit up, because Kaen had taken the blow directly. Kaen looked back at Goku with a grimace. "Yare, yare. That's a very scary power you have there. If we block it in any manner, then you get a base. If we dodge it or it misses us, you also get a base. The only way to prevent this is to take the hit directly. And I imagine if you can get all the bases, we'll be privvy to some other aspect of your power, won't we? What a dangerous ability." Kaen remarked.
He glanced at the other two. "Benkei-taichou. I know I don't have the authority to order a captain. But I would like to request you not add your attacks to our pitches. Whilst Manabu-kun and I are capable of striking with low enough power that our attacks might be surviveable, if your attacks are reflected it will be hard to survive them for long." He remarked and stepped up to the plate. "Please catch this one Benkei-taichou." He requested and smirked at Goku.
"Batter up." He joked and launched his hand forwards. Three shuriken of fire shot out of his hands, whipping through the air at Goku in a triangular pattern. Kaen watched intently. He didn't think it would be possible for Goku to hit all three out of the air. Therefore, that would be his third out. And even if he did, with Kaen's lower reiatsu strength and spirit pressure, any shot that was sent back could be taken directly by Benkei. Benkei's high reiatsu strength and cutback would reduce an injury to almost nothing! But a direct hit would still be a direct hit, and it wouldn't be blocked in any manner. It would just simply be unable to inflict any manner of serious injury.
That was the idea anyway. Kaen doubted cutback would count as a base, since if that were the case, this foe would have simply be using attacks that couldn't hurt the shinigami, as he would never get an out, if that were the case. Well. One way to find out, Kaen supposed.

Goku shrugged, the bat dissipating as he disappeared in an instant. With whatever speed he had, he'd just chosen to dodge the shurikens. It was an out situation anyway. It looked like he'd decided that, now going to the bottom of the first inning, he'd have the advantage by pitching and using field work. Goku was definitely right. He did have the advantage, more so than he had in the previous game. Now that things were heating up, it was going to be difficult. Bottom of the first, and Goku's demonic baseball rules were probably going to be explained here. He already had a ball from what had been preparation for a grand slam type attack earlier. He was tossing it up a foot and then catching it repeatedly.
"I'll explain so that you can understand. I will throw the ball. I will act as a fielder as well. Your goal is to hit the ball so that I cannot intercept it. If it goes past me, you get a base. An avatar of reiatsu will form on the base, which you control. It has half of your statistical ability. You control it mentally. It can run and try to steal a base if you want, and it will run to get the next base for you with each hit. If, however, you try to steal a base, I can kill that avatar and initiate an out by hurling the ball into it. If your avatar is running for a base after a hit, I can still kill it to initiate an out. If the ball is intercepted by me in any way, you are out. If the ball hits you, you are out instead of walking."
He kept tossing the ball up. "And I'm going to give you an example of a throw now. A practice pitch, so that you can understand what you're about to be up against." Goku threw the ball into the air three feet, and it descended back down, almost as if in slow motion. It landed in his hand, and his body instantly lashed out and whirled, hurling the ball. The ball blurred, and disappeared. An intense source of heat could be felt by all three, for Goku had thrown the ball past them. A crashing sound exploded with a deafening boom. There was a hole visible in a nearby building. The hole was giant, and steaming. No one had been able to see the ball at that moment.
Goku grinned maniacally. "So get ready, whoever plans to bat..." He said. Another ball materialized in his grasp. He threw it up and down a few times. He was going to get serious with this next pitch, anyone could tell. The one before had been playing around. How could anyone even hope to hit the ball if it had been like that while playing around? What on earth were they all going to do against this baseball?
Meanwhile. . .
Instantly, Gekko Jiyou's blade was pinned against Arashi's. Arashi cursed, his feet dragging along the ground as his own Zanpakuto spirit assaulted him with a quick paced barrage of assaults. Arashi disappeared instantly after blocking a few, materializing behind Gekko Jikyou. He slashed, releasing reiatsu, which he had infinite of within his own inner world. Well, he had infinite reiatsu so long as his own Bankai was the one in control. "RASSHINGU TENGOKU!" he cried out, the huge blast shooting outwards. Suddenly, Kodaiyiseki, which had been the first Blade of Abhorrence collected, materialized in front of Gekko Jikyou. A huge surge of golden flames rose up, blasting through Arashi's attack and destroying it. Next off, Terroseki and Kyojinseki were in front of Arashi as well, blades slamming on him. He disappeared to dodge, but both fired blasts of reiatsu at him, which he had to slash into. They exploded, releasing burns across his body. "You're fighting all of us." Kodaiyiseki declared.

This is a real problem. I'll never be able to hit a ball moving that fast. On the other hand, the difference in speed between bat and ball is such that the bat would travel through the strike zone and remain there during the entire flight of the ball. Ergo, I could hit it if I timed the swing properly. Any pitcher has a form that precedes the release of the ball. I'll need to see more of it before attempting anything. Right now I'd say Benkei-taicho has the best chance of anticipating the pitch and timing the swing correctly.[/i]
The three looked at each other attempting to decide who should go first. Manabu took their searching looks as permission to speak.
"If I may: right now I believe Benkei-taicho has the best chance of anticipating the pitch and timing your swing in order to get the bat to travel through the strike zone at the time of release. You have the most superior perceptive abilities among us, so you have the best hope of getting it right on this first pitch. Youji-dai-san-seki and I will hopefully get the timing right by watching you bat."
Now Manabu turned to Goku.
"Speaking of batting, what shall we use for a bat? Shall we use your bat to bat now that you're no longer batting, umm... I just realized we never got your name. I never introduced myself! I'm Manabu Brock, regular officer of Division 7. May I ask your name now that we're changing places and that you're no longer batting? It was excellent batting, by the way. I'm almost sorry to see you put down your bat."
Manabu sure was acting strangely. His speech was now noticeably different. He was being very repetitive. He just used the word "bat" 8 times in a row and kept making redundant observations about the change in positions. Goku would surely never notice anything since he'd never even met Manabu before, but Kaen was a direct superior of Manabu's. He'd surely see that something was up.
Goku's yawn was casual as he tossed the ball up and down in his grasp, watching the three choose and decide a batter. Of course, at the same time, a bat materialized directly overhead, dropping in between them. Okay, so they had a metal bat for this. Goku was still pretty casual about it. He waited until the second when at last, one of the three had gone up to the plate to bat. This was it. The pitch would happen now. They'd seen it earlier, and it should be obvious that this was nothing to be screwed around with. Goku threw the ball up again, as he'd been repeatedly doing, and then caught it. He threw it up again, and as it landed in his hand, his body blurred. It whirled, hurling the ball. It was completely a blur of movement, half a second at most. Anyone that blinked would miss it. The ball blasted straight forwards, towards whoever was batting. It was at chest level.
Meanwhile. . .
A fist smashed Arashi's face, sending him flying as one of the present spirits moved past him, a huge gashing slash moving across his chest to draw blood. Arashi's eyes were wide, for eight of these enemies all at once was probably too much. And yet, despite that, he kept on fighting. He blocked with his blade a secondary slash, and then turned to catch the wrist of someone else coming at him. Behind, Kodaiyiseki was approaching with a blade ready to stab, and Arashi had to forego slashing the one he had caught in favor of blocking Kodaiyiseki. This left him wide open to get slashed across the back by Gekko Jikyou, who had been the wrist he'd caught. Arashi winced, and slashed, but Kodayiseki blocked. Myoseki dropped in from the air, and Arashi turned up his blade to block another strike. His blade was being worn by this fight. Arashi slashed around himself again. "RASSHINGU TENGOKU!"
