Their blood is on our hands. That's alright, though! We've been moving from small town to small town for a hundred years, and never before have we been inactive or shut down!
So come on down to the Spectacular Nightly Carnival! You're in for a special treat, because this is the final time we're opening in Karakura. Don't miss our last opening! It's the greatest fun that you'll ever have! Because afterwords, Karakura will be annihilated. HAHAHAHAHAHA! COME ON DOWN! Especially you, Shinigami. Only three of you at once, though! Maximum! We don't want an overload, do we? Ehehe...
We'll see you tonight. Especially around Midnight. Enjoy your time here at our Spectacular Nightly Carnival. You'll have such a great time, you'll never leave. . .
[Among the three participants, human world residents are also allowed. This means Humans, Quincy, Bount, Hason, Failures, Mod Souls. No Rogues, though.]
Our favorite Squad 7 Vice Captain was brimming with excitement. A carnival. This should be fun. Maybe she could get sushi or something. Oh! Maybe she'll get to hang out with her Captain! That should be nice...providing she doesn't try to force him into wearing an ultra colorful, sparkly bandanna...or provoke him to break out the DIE HASEN. Yeah, that would be cool. She still had a crippling fear of bunnies. Though, it tamed down just a teensy bit because of a certain man with serious anger issues in Las Noches. Well, she had issues too. Talk about a match made in heaven..or hell. Whatever you'd like to call it.
Rin was in a gigai. She wore a long, red dress like shirt that reached mid-thigh along with a black leather biker jacket and dark blue skinny jeans and black heeled boots. She had a pretty red bandanna in her pocket for her Captain..just in case he showed up or something. Rin had to admit..this thing was just a little suspicious. I don't know...perhaps it's the fact that they said Karakura might be annihilated.
"Hello there, looking beautiful tonight! Would you like a cotton candy, miss?" A random guy suddenly asked Rin. He was wearing a bear suit, and was wheeling around a stand of cotton candy. He was a salesmen, and he held up a cotton candy, offering one to Rin. He held it out to her, as if bidding her to take it. "Tonight is our last night here, so everything is free!" He was probably smiling beneath that bear suit, though it was impossible to tell since well...it was a bear suit. On one hand, there was that pro. Free cotton candy. They'd stuck true to annihilation at midnight until one AM all nights. The cotton candy probably wasn't dangerous. But did a princess like cotton candy?
Meanwhile, someone else had entered the carnival. He did it secretly, unnoticed. He wore a black leather coat, unzipped, and black under armor as a long sleeve. He had black leather pants, and black boots. His hair was black, medium length almost, thick almost. He wore a white phantom mask to conceal his face. He'd infiltrated the Carnival. Strangely enough, tourists were here. There were actually a lot of people having fun. Normal Karakura residents avoided the whole area. But tourists still showed up. At least two hundred. Who knew Karakura was such a tourist hotspot, being a small town? Probably part of a tour bus going through Japan, though.
Rin gingerly took the cotton candy out of bear's hand. "Thank you!" she added with a sweet smile. Truth be told, Rin hated adorable fluffy things. This empress hated that sort of thing. Stupid little puffs..she wanted to set them on fire. Rin actually was tempted to do that. The mere sight of it nearly set her off. But! She took it anyways. She wanted to see what it tasted like despite her hate for adorable fluffy things. "Tonight is our last night here, so everything is free!" Free? Ooh..Free. Though nothing in life is free. That was quote worth thinking about.
PFFT...who cares?!
"I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thank you!" she smiled as she walked off. Maybe she could go on a roller coaster or something. Oh! Oh! Was the captain around?!
The bear suit man put his hand on Rin's shoulder. "Thanks for visiting. Do enjoy your stay here." He walked off, wheeling his cart of cotton candy away while whistling a merry tune, going around giving other people cotton candy. Obviously, Enma was off doing another mission. Rin would not locate him here at this carnival. If she searched for reiatsu, perhaps later in the day she'd find someone very similar, in the wearing of masks anyway. But at any rate, first of all, she had to wait. Nothing suspicious was visible. Obviously, nothing happened until midnight. An hour of Hell.
Meanwhile, the masked figure moved throughout the area, avoiding all notice. No one within the entire Carnival knew of his presence. He was going to keep it that way. Meanwhile, the Ferris Wheel was there. While it was a couples thing, it would be fun for Rin to try. She'd probably never been on a Ferris Wheel, after all. What better way to have a bit of fun and kill time?
The way he said that sent shivers up her spine. Apparently, nothing happened until midnight and that thought alone was a bit nerve wracking. Rin honestly wished that there was someone around that she knew that she could enjoy the carnival with. It's no fun coming to a carnival all by your lonesome, right? Sigh...what's an empress to do?
Ooh..Ferris Wheel. So what if was a couples thing! Pssh...She'll go on! Rin would walk over anxiously to the Ferris Wheel. She's never been on anything like it before...this should be fun! Hm..If Nijuu were here, he'd probably start freaking out over how small the people look or how high up they are or something stupid. She held the cotton candy in her hand and she looked at it. Stupid fluffy crap. Why'd she pick this up in the first place!?
Rin arriving at the Ferris wheel marked one thing. The chance to see a bunch of couples kissing in the little cars. Oh, crap. She had no one! She must be feeling tremendously lonely at that moment. All she had was her cotton candy. There was no way that she could make out with that. Maybe she could pick up a guy to make out with. Though, that'd be slutty. Besides, technically she was in a relationship with Nijuu. It was hate based according to both parties, but there was probably affection that both misjudged for being hate, since both were unusually dense. Still, what to do what to do?
Something else came up in regards to that. The guy that started the Ferris Wheel wore a red sleeveless blazer, a red striped hat, black pants, a white shirt under the blazer, and held a cane. He was a friendly looking old man. His eyes were green. He put his hand on Rin's shoulder. Everyone was doing that today. "Enjoy your time on the Ferris Wheel, madam." he said. "Though it is better enjoyed in pairs."
"Ne, You're right..but I think I'll go at it alone! Thank you." she responded to him. Then he touched her shoulder. Everyone liked touching her shoulder. Why?! It was so creepy. Then again, this was the carnival full of horror and crap. Rin would step inside the carriage and look outside the window. She'd wait for the ride to start.
Yeah..this guy was right...it was better for pairs, but who could she go with? Tch...she hated Nijuu. HATED!..and he hated her too! Hmph...though, it would be nice if he was here. Oh well! It's just her and her cotton candy. Stupid fluffy crap. What was she still doing with this! Maybe she could throw it at someone or do something stupid it. Wait..no...that's not how royalty acts!
When the Ferris Wheel finally started. the creepy music started playing. But, when Rin got up there, she'd finally see it. From high above, all of the beautiful lights. It was a Carnival after all. Despite everything, there were beautiful lights. It was truly stunning, and the lights were all reddish pinkish. Wait...no. A darker, dimmer red would be more accurate, but with a tint of light. Was that...crimson? Crimson red? And, the lights looked kind of like bulbs earlier. But bulbs filled with a glow, not electricity. The glow had been lighting something up. It couldn't be! The lightbulbs were glowing...but filled with blood? Possibly. It was wild speculation, but it was possible...
But, worst of all, when Rin looked down, she'd see it. The blood colored lights that could be seen from at the very top. The way all of the booths were placed, the way all of the lights were placed at the top. The letters they formed. The single sentence the enormous Carnival formed just from the lights. No, impossible! It was scary. It was terrifying. Why would they do something like this? From atop, it read simply one single sentence.
Ne....Something is definitely off with this place. She was enjoying herself and all the beautiful lights. It truly was a spectacular sight to see. It was also a bit creepy. She'd look down and..some of those lights looked like they were tinted with blood! That oh so familiar ominous color. What's worse was that they spelled something. They formed a sentence. Come Midnight, You're All Dead. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Maybe she had better keep her eyes open. That was too strange to just ignore.
If Rin turned around at that moment, which she would, to face the seat opposite of her, she'd see it. It was a clown. It sat there, perfectly still. It had a green afro, white skin, and glowing yellow eyes. Crimson red pupils were in the dead center. There was no cornea, only the yellow. The pupils stared at Rin, and the eyes flitted back and forth. The clown's white hand touched her face. It was gold. The hand was stubby and fat, the nails were filthy, but long. Insects crawled out of the nails onto her face. The clown stared at her, and started laughing. Next second, it was gone. As if she'd only imagined there. It had existed for under five seconds.
Could Rin just be imagining things out of total fear? When she got out of the Ferris Wheel, and the trip was over, a guy with a cart wheeled over to her. This one was wearing a polar bear costume, whereas the cotton candy guy had a brown bear costume. "Would you like some caramel corn?" He asked her.
For just a second, she turned around. There she saw it. It was grotesque and horrifying. A clown with unnatural eyes. She's seen hollow and arrancar and the like..but never anything like this. She looked it straight in the eye. She was definitely taken aback by all this. She definitely boarded this thing alone. EW! HE TOUCHED HER FACE! YUCK! ...worse! There were insects! She closed her eyes and brushed them off as he laughed.
However, when she opened them, he was gone...
That...that was...what the?! She got off the ferris wheel. Freaked out. Did no one else notice that? Was she the only one that noticed that. "Would you like some caramel corn?" Rin smiled. It was a weak smile but it was something. She was afraid that if she refused something else creepy would happen to her. That's how these movies work. The suspecting victim refuses and then they kill her! It's happened! Rin would gingerly take the caramel corn from the polar bear. "Thank you!" she said sweetly. "It's rather nice that there are lots of delicious treats here, ne? Aha. Goodbye!" she said as she skipped off to a different ride.
The guy smiled back at her. She couldn't see his face, but anyone could tell. From behind that polar bear costume...an aura of creepiness. The chills were unruly. A cold wind blew through the area as Rin started moving around. She soon got to one of those "bob for the apple" games where the person has to try to get an apple with their mouth. Oh, that looked promising. Though a couple who had both just failed at it were kissing after their failure. So Carnivals really were family or couple things. They shouldn't be taken lightly the way that it was right now.
At any rate, maybe Rin could try it. Though, things were not going too well for her tonight. Creepiness. Meanwhile, the Phantom Reaper was still observing the area. At the same time as Rin, he'd noticed it. The bloody font, the message that it spelled. He noticed it, and icicles moved throughout his spine, as they would through anyone's. And, his heart tightened in rage at those that dared to invade his hometown. "Midnight, huh? Try it."
Craten had heard of a carnival coming to a town near to where he lived. He had decided to go ahead and take a look since he knew carnivals contained people who didn't fit in like him. This would probably be a place where he could be understood since he didn't fit into the world either. In order to get to this carnival he had to travel to get there and so he walked. However he knew that a carnival would be open for a long time so he wasn't worried about what time he got there.
After what seemed to take a long time he had arrived to the entrance of the carnival. He noticed the big top tent and other smaller tents placed around it. There was also many small stands as well as rides everywhere. The first stop he wanted to take a look at was around the freak show. Though Craten just thought of this as the show of others who weren't like normal people. He headed over tot hat tent to see what they had going on.
Those in the freak show ignored Craten completely. In fact, everyone in the tent ignored him. Obviously, most couldn't see him even if he was very highly energized. He was much more spiritual in being than other residents of the human world. While many more humans saw him than they did Shinigami and the like, it wasn't like all could see him. Also, any that did see him assumed he was a part of the freak show, whether they be actual freak shows or the audience. They assumed he was either part of it, or a new recruit, or a potential recruit. Something like that. That was the general idea he could probably get.
He fit in for once. For the first time in a long time, Craten wasn't alone. For what he saw was just a crowd of freaks that looked...happy. One was a clown with a frowning face, and six arms on one side of his body. He was buff, but had no arms on the other side. Only six right arms. No left arms. Another freak was a guy with two heads. And another was a girl with three boobs, four eyes, and one ear. Hell, there was even nothing more than a little midget with a cigar. It was all in style with the freak shows.
