I'm sure a lot of you have felt it. The urge to create a thread, and challenge other players with a world and environment you've crafted. Basically, creating a story using a world and NPC's that you command, instead of making a thread with a general point, and having your character interact with other characters in the normal way a thread would work. This guide is a simple one to teach you how to make a thread like that.
Of course, we all know how to mark a thread. Some people just mark it [Open] or [Closed] or [Private, Insert names here]. Others give it a rating, and in the title they sometimes include if it's DE or NDE, though more often they include it in the description. The difficulty level doesn't always have to be included in a thread, but it always needs to be put in a thread where there is a Dungeon Master.
When you first create the thread, be sure to include something like that in the title. A general title should look something like the below.
Example[PG-13, NDE, Easy]
Now, the important thing to remember. Dungeon Master threads are different from regular threads. They will use the Adventure/Mission Template, found in the Adventure Zone, or by clicking Here
Some Dungeon Masters do not abide by this, and they command NPCs in Social Threads, or non Adventure/Mission threads. These are High Ranking Staff, or those given permission ONLY. The people that can do this are also capable of giving out any form of reward that they desire. They are referred to as Game Masters, instead of Dungeon Masters.
The Dungeon Master is limited, but not too much. When you create the thread, you are allowed to create up to 4 major NPCs that will either help or deter the RPCs that play in your thread. Now, this does not mean that you can't create more than 4 NPCs. You can only create 4 major ones. As in, 4 main villain/hero/support/deterrence characters. Characters for minor battles, interaction, or information gathering can still be created.
When you pick the setting, make it related to the Bleach world. If it makes no sense in the Bleach World, then it obviously should not even exist as a thread on this forum. Controlling the environment is simple enough. You can control things that happen as a result of what RPCs or NPCs do, or you can conjure up nasty little weather or wild life for the RPCs to deal with. You can also spawn little towns or villages or cities or whatever dotting the path that the players go through, just so they have stuff to do along the way. You can create shops so that they can buy items to help them out, and you can charge them money for those items. Of course, the ryo doesn't go to you, it just disappears from their profile. When a player has made a purchase in your thread, please alert a staff member so that the Ryo may be docked from that person's account.
When you introduce an NPC that will be battling or supporting the RPCs, you should include who it is, preferably even if it is minor. This is actually pretty important. When we learn the person's name, or when you finish describing their appearance, in brackets or parentheses, state who they are, title, rank, character type. It should look something like the below if you do this.
[First Name Last Name, Shinigami, Squad 6 Seat 5, Class 4]
You must put this in bold, and color it. The chosen color will be the color of that NPC's dialogue, and it can never change, until of course the character dies, in which case that character won't be having any more dialogue anyway.
At the end of the post in which you introduce that NPC, be sure to include their stats in a spoiler, so that players may be aware of what they're dealing with. If it's a very major character to the plot, sometimes a bio will be put in a spoiler.
Now for more limitations. You can't put out of place strength hazards and enemies in threads. If a thread is Easy, you have no place putting a Class 1 Vasto Lorde there. The only time you can make people like that in a thread where they don't belong is if they're for the thread's plot only, and the RPCs won't actually be dealing with that one particular NPC. Rewards are limited. Easy threads are only allowed a maximum reward of 300 TP, or 5000 Ryo, or both. Medium theads can have 700 TP, 9000 Ryo, or both, or a free technique or special item. Hard threads can have 1000 TP, 40,000 Ryo, or both, or two special items or two free techniques. Extreme Thread can't be created by Dungeon Masters, only by Game Masters. DUNGEON MASTERS! DO NOT OVERPOWER YOUR NPCs! TIME CONTROL, UNIVERSE CONTROL, "ABSOLUTE POWERS", IMMORTALITY, ALL OF THESE AND ANYTHING SIMILAR OR RELATED ARE BANNED! If you aren't sure about an NPC, feel free to ask me.
Update: Naturally the thing with PMing me about thread completion is no longer necessary, as now all of the members add their rewards up in the Point Bank.
Update #2: Rewards have been added to adventures for the Dungeon Master. For any character you choose, you can give them convertable TP (Or just Ryo) for your adventure! Okay, here's how it works. Easy threads get 300 TP per page. Medium threads get 500 per page. Hard threads get 700 per page. OR, likewise, you can turn to Ryo. Easy threads get 10,000 ryo per page. Medium threads get 45,000 ryo per page. Hard threads get 80,000 ryo per page. But you only collect your reward at the very end, if your thread is successful. An adventure is considered "successful" if it COMPLETES! No early cut-off. You must have made it through the adventure properly. An adventure is only valid if you manage a minimum of 3 pages. And you can't just throw together garbage that will end quickly. It must be a proper, thought-out adventure that is satisfying to play inside of. When reward is gained, you'd post about it in the point bank.
That about wraps this up. More may be added to this guide later, but that's all for now.
