Mio seemed to find some comfort in Benjiro's warm words, her tense form gradually easing under his gentle presence. Though the pain of her past still lingered, she allowed herself to be a little more at ease in the company of the compassionate Shinigami. As he inquired about any additional information she might have on the criminals, Benjiro listened attentively, absorbing every detail she shared. Her fear was evident as she warned them that the powerful man they had fought earlier was not the strongest among their ranks. There was someone else, an important individual, and their plan seemed to be targeting Karakura Town.
Benjiro's heart sank at the thought of an attack on Karakura, a place filled with innocent souls and a town he had come to care about. It was clear that the situation was even graver than they initially thought, and the urgency to report this to his Captain and higher-ups was undeniable. Yet, Mio pleaded with them not to go after this monstrous figure, fearing for their lives. Her words were laced with concern for their safety, but both Benjiro and Aoshi were resolute and undeterred.
Aoshi's excitement contrasted with Mio's fear as he embraced their status as ghostly samurai, unafraid of facing these monsters. Benjiro, however, responded with a somber and serious tone. "As we are? We'll die our second death." The gravity of the situation was not lost on him, and he knew that they needed to be prepared. However, he was also acutely aware of the haste in which his own growth accelerated, surpassing both of his Seniors in around a year. Not only that, but Aoshi's sheer potential and strength gave him hope that they would be able to grow very soon. With a hand on Aoshi's shoulder and a smile on his face, he offered a suggestion. "That is why we need to hasten our training, Aoshi! We'll become strong enough to stop them ourselves." They had to become stronger if they were to stand a chance against such formidable foes.
As he turned back to Mio, Benjiro reassured her with a gentle smile. "Like I said, there are many Shinigami here that are much stronger than we are. That also means the both of us can become drastically more powerful. I assure you, Miss Mio, we will ensure that no one has to go through what you did." His mind began to flit between the many he knew that could handle these threats, from Captain Celes and Vice Captain Tsukuyomi down to Satoshi-san and Munemasa-san. He vowed to ensure that no one would suffer like she did, and he offered her assistance from his dear friends in the Fourth and Twelfth Divisions.
"In the meantime, you may stay here and be treated by the Fourth Division members," he said, his voice warm and caring. "And if you wish, I can bring you to the Twelfth Division. They are skilled in advanced techniques and research, and they might be able to reverse what has happened to you. I have friends there who would be more than willing to help." The thought of Akira warmed his heart in this moment, but he also knew that he might be of help for Mio's current condition. Perhaps they could even provide insight on ways to deter the explosions that they expel.
His heart ached for Mio, but in the midst of her pain, Benjiro wanted to offer her hope. He believed in the resilience of the human spirit, and he knew that with the support of the Soul Society, there was a chance for her to find solace and healing.
