Spring had finally come to the peaceful yet bustling streets of Karakura Town. Now that the cold weather had given way to warmth and the snow had already thawed, far more people took to the streets to go about their day, instead of just staying home after work. The town had come to life in a matter of weeks, in an appropriate prediction of what summertime would be like once a few more months passed. Unfortunately, all that life meant that there were all the more humans to be easily found and consumed by Hollowkind, even right in the middle of the day. Sometimes, the monsters' hunger grew so much that it was impossible for them to keep to the night, when it would be safer for them to hunt. Sometimes, it led them to be downright reckless.
The frontiers of the Human World was shattered, like a stone projectile driving through a glass pane and leaving a tear for those spiritually aware to see. Within that tear, a black abyss writhed and swirled: Garganta, the void between worlds. From within, a sort of different creatures burst forth, ready to begin wrecking havoc in the town and relishing in the scent of all those souls to consume. Not only were they far tastier than Hollow souls, some weren't even out of their original body yet, so they just could not get them any fresher than that!
The pack of Hollows was not too large; in fact, there must have been three Strays and two Menos Grande. The humongous creatures stood at over 20ft and would easily draw the attention of anyone that could perceive these kinds of threats, but the Strays, being much smaller, could easily blend in with the human crowd as soon as they began to panic. For the time being, however, they were mostly undetected, and so they could enjoy themselves with this feast, so easily presented to them. With maddened cackles, all three Strays went to work on the first victims, while the Menos Grande, as inexpressive and outright bland as always, just let out low growls and hums as they stepped forward, apparently uninterested because of their expressionless masks, but surely just as hungry as the rest.
However, those were not the only Hollows that would go to town for a fun party that day. Behind the ones who had ran more decidedly into town, there was another one that emerged from the Kumon gate, and stood back as they watched chaos unfurl over Karakura town. This one was a Menos Grande, but smaller than the others--and even then, it was still a towering 8ft in height, far taller than most, if not all humans would be. Cloaked in the same black garb that covered it all the way to the feet, with the same spikes on the 'neck' and the same mask with a big mouth and a pointy nose that the rest of its brethren sported, there was nothing in its overall appearance that might have distinguished it from other Gillians--save, perhaps, for the fact that it was abnormally small for the usually gigantic creatures.
Of course, being a Menos Grande, it too was in a daze. A daze caused by the hundreds of souls struggling for control, pressing down on the weaker ones in a revolting attempt to claim dominance over the spiritual body that they now inhabited. Lost within that void, one tiny little Hollow struggled as well, fending off their brethren. However they struggled, the small knight could not assert themselves over the rest. They had lost their purpose, their goal, their dream. With their delusions of being a Shinigami shattered, they were only fighting because something in their very self compelled them to, but it was not something that they had consciously chosen. As such, one question bogged them down, keeping them in line. Why? Why struggle, why fight against their reality? There was no point in doing so, right?
That kept them completely away from the fight, suppressed below the rest of its kin that, upon seeing the humans, wanted to do nothing but feed. Even so, as the Menos Grande took its first steps, they were not the eager, hungry ones of the strays or the automatic ones of the other Menos. These were slow, deliberate, as if each one involved convincing itself that this was the most appropriate thing to do. In the end, the monster walked, even though most humans along their way had already been scattered by the others. There was something all too familiar about this town, they could feel it, even if they could not act upon it.
How would the humans fare against such a pack of monsters? Would there be anyone among them capable of fighting back, of killing those Hollows?
OOC:
Enemy ranks include two class 5 Menos Grande and three class 7 Strays.
Caballero starts as a mindless Gillian, so their appearance is the same as the others, save for the fact that they're 8ft tall vs the 20ft of the other two Menos Grande.
