Thread Title: Temple of Terror Participants: Soto vs Hikari World: Human World Death Setting: Permanent Injuries Enabled Rating: R Location: One of the temples in Kyoto by the name of Kiyomizudera. Circumstances: Scarlet had been here only a short time ago and come across a poor soul she was kind towards. After being touched by that man things have been weird. Scarlet has started to see and hear things that seem like they’re from a nightmare. She’d returned to the temple in order to find that man and ask if he did something to her. Once there though she finds something has already happened to that man.
This wasn't something that she had planned on doing, coming back to Kyoto after only two weeks had passed since her first visit back in several years. She’d come back to Kyoto and the Kiyomizudera temple with her grandfather as it was something important to him. Coming to the temple though was the start of all these weird things that didn’t make any sense. Since then she’d been seeing things that were out of nightmares. Meeting people that didn’t seem real. In short the typical life that she had lived was now completely different and she didn’t understand how everything had changed.
So Scarlet had made a decision, she’d wait for today when she didn’t have work at the cafe, get on a train in Karakura and over the next few hours she’d get back to Kyoto. She had to go back to the temple and see if there was a cause. Now standing at the front of the temple Scarlet would walk around trying to find the poor soul that she’d tried to help. A poor older man that seemed like a priest, but one that wasn’t taking care of himself or was allowing himself to go back out of some sort of prayer. She didn’t really know all that made sense as no one seemed to have any knowledge about what she was asking.
She didn’t want to come out and admit to what she’d been seeing, believing that it would just secure herself as a loon to be locked up. Ever since she’d seen that first large insect monster though Scarlet had started to carry around her ax with her. It was at the moment strapped to her back beneath the hoodie she wore. No one could likely see it with the shaft down her spine and the head just below the nap of her neck. Her red and black track pants along with her high black boots and expression made it clear she wasn’t at the temple to seek out recompense. Although it was just starting to reach the middle of the day, Scarlet didn’t see any tourists at the temple and only after several minutes realized that was quite weird.
Eshin's soul was a tempest of conflicting emotions, torn between the anger he felt towards the new monks in the temple and his own sense of righteousness. He saw their lack of care, their lack of discipline, as a affront to everything he and Benjiro had stood for, and he was filled with a righteous fury. In his mind, it was only just and right to provide the punishment they deserved, to cut out the rot before it spread any further. Over the years, he had watched in patience, in temperance, in love, as he hoped and prayed for their actions to change, for the abbot to make true, long-lasting change. But, what could he have expected out of Jiryu Tanaka, the oafish young boy he had tried to correct for decades. How he became the abbot after Eshin locked himself away, he never knew. It was time to correct that mistake. The twisted hollow began to smile behind the mask, his own grin stretching from ear to ear, skin tearing and ripping apart to make it literal.
But as he smiled at the thought of his own justice, he felt the storm of emotions settling down, as if the conflict he had faced in the 70 years of his isolation had finally passed. The rage that once consumed him was now settling into a quiet numbness, and he felt a new feeling in its place, his hunger for power and strength. Yes, he had truly done it, he had transcended the Samsara by becoming this new existence, this enlightened being that he had dedicated his entire life to becoming. He gazed upon his own dilapidated corpse, the shell of an old man who had lost his mind, and he realized that his isolation training was finally complete.
Eshin was ready to present himself to the world, an enlightened being to the rodents that now infested his dear Kiyomizudera temple under the guise of "monks". He was determined to show them everything he had learned during his 70 years of isolation, and to fulfill his purpose. He would bring justice to those who dared to defile the sacred practice, and he would make sure they understood the consequences of their actions. After all, it was only right for the enlightened ones to guide and shepherd those who were lost, so that they may walk down the path of enlightenment once more. Besides, if they refused to change and to learn, then he would simply bless them with the grace of becoming one with his own enlightenment.
For the first time in 70 years, the door to the Abbot's isolation chamber swung open. Gone was the old man, wracked with grief and mournful of the loss of his beloved son, and here stood the newest Buddha to stand amongst the enlightened ones. Beneath this gaunt behemoth of nine feet tall was stretched out skin, pale as porcelain and constantly at threat of tearing at the seams. His body seemed to have lost all muscle, leaving him as nothing but bone and flesh, with elongated claws stretching out of his fingertips. His once well-maintained hair and beard had become an unkempt mess of wispy strands that further emphasized his ghastly appearance. None of this would have connoted an enlightened figure, if not for the golden mask that hovered a few inches from his face. It was plain as day, the mask was off Buddha, more pristine and more beautiful than the greatest statue could ever make, even with all the cracks across its face.

Something really was off about the temple. Scarlet didn’t know why but it felt different than it had even a couple weeks ago. It felt like she was in a room filled by an always situation that involved no one wanting to be the one to break the silence. It was almost like the temple itself just didn’t feel correct, like something about it had been wronged and although she could feel that something was off Scarlet had no clue what was causing this feeling or why. All she knew was she was feeling something that that feeling was causing quite a bit of worry.
Moving through the temple it’d take her a couple of minutes to hear the sound of someone else. This temple was usually quite busy with more than enough monks and tourists. So why it was seemingly abandoned right now was beyond Scarlet. In truth some of the monks had felt an eerie sensation over the last week while the spirit of the monk had slipped lord and closer to his “transcendence” that same feeling Scarlet was experiencing right now led to most of the monks leaving the temple under the guise of many different falsehoods.
Walking down one of the hallways Scarlet could feel the nice wood beneath her black boots. A sign of disrespect normally for her to confuse wearing them on the inside of the temple. Something that she typically wouldn’t do if nothing else out of respect for her grandfather’s belief. Right now though it’d slipped her mind while she was too occupied with what was going on. It wouldn’t take much longer for Scarlet to turn a corner into a new hallway and see the incredible tall figure standing twenty some feet away. A figure taller and thinner than herself yet looked to be a monk.
A monk though? The thing she was looking at right now, could it really be a monk? It was too tall to be a human, she’d never heard of a man growing to such height nor one full grown being so thin. He appeared to have no muscle nor fat nor life inside his body. How was he still alive? That’s when she saw the mask and Scarlet felt an intense shiver run down her spine. This guy wasn’t human. He was a nightmare like that insect with the mask on the street. Moving her right hand up her back Scarlet grabs the shaft of her ax and pulls it out and off her back from under her coat. She didn’t like it, but she had to protect herself.
Eshin emerged from his chamber, his eyes blazing with the fire of his frustration, his skin a pale canvas for the shadows that seemed to cling to him. His heart beat with a drumming desire to hunt, to show the world the power he had achieved in his 70 years of isolation. But as he looked around, he saw that the temple was barren, the halls empty, and his prey had fled at the first sign of his presence. The silence only fueled the tempest of emotions that raged within him, a storm of anger, frustration, and a thirst for blood.
He had worked so hard, trained so hard, and yet they still dared to mock him, to sully the name of the temple he held so dear. The new monks, the tourists, they all deserved to suffer for their ignorance, their weakness. Eshin was determined to make them pay for their sins, one by one, until there was no one left to defile the sacred halls of the Kiyomizudera temple. The anger inside of him only fueled his hunger more, and the thought of the thrill of the hunt only spurred his appetite further.
But then, in the silence, he caught sight of movement. A flicker in the shadows, a glimmer in the distance. His bloodlust rose, a tide of savagery that threatened to consume him. He was desperate to test his powers, to see just how far he had come. Be they monk or tourist, whoever this was would pay the price for daring to intrude upon the temple. Eshin let out a growl, his eyes blazing with the fury of a predator hunting its prey. He was ready to show the world what he had become, and he was going to start with this unsuspecting intruder.
Eshin's eyes locked onto the intruder, a sneer twisting the mask upon his face. The weapon they carried was a ken, a Japanese Buddhist term for a double-edged axe. It was a tool of destruction, a blasphemy to the sacredness of the Kiyomizudera temple. With a flick of his wrist, Eshin's sharp claws tore through the air, slicing reality itself with their edge. In a flash, he vanished from the space he once occupied, only to reappear behind the ax-wielder. The new Buddha moved with the speed of lightning, his elongated claws lunging towards the intruder's shoulder with the intention of causing mortal damage. Eshin was determined to rid the temple of all defilement, to punish those who dared to sully its name, and to do so with the ferocity of the hunter that he had become. The mere sight of this intruder, wielding such a weapon, was enough to enrage the tempest within him. The twisted being was ready to rain down his wrath upon anyone who dared to stand in his way.
Technique Description and Effects: This technique is a basic stale for a Hollow's ability to slide in and out of the valley of screams at will when it is hunting or stalking prey. By gliding in and out of the space used by techniques like garganta or descorrer, a hollow can get around quickly. This technique operates similarly to a stepping technique, but only moves at 5x the user's speed. However, the user weaves through rips in the fabric of whatever world they are in, and as such the hollows exits, and then re-enters at the destination, Hollows do not lose awareness of the world as they move through an Ulcera, and can return to the material world mid-step in response to a threat or opportunity. This technique does not take up a Technique slot.

Staring down the hallway was one thing, holding onto the ax with her right hand was another. Both things that felt natural, practiced and second nature to Scarlet now felt like they were taking every bit of focus she had to continue. This thing wasn’t that far away and now she watched as it turned taking notice of her. A strange creature likely thought to be extinct, that’s all she could think of now. This was something mythical that used to roam through Japan all the time and was hunted down to the point they weren’t seen anymore.
“Which means it can be killed.”
Sweat was forming on her brow, the fear that Scarlet felt gripping her heart as she did her best to stand her ground against something from a nightmare. She’d seen only one of these things with a white mask before. It had been fighting a man dressed in all black using a sword. She was dressed differently, but confident with the ax in her right hand. Although she wasn’t willing to take her eyes away from this monster she was doing her best to recall how exactly that man had brought down the creature with the white mask.
Just like that though and the monster was gone, there one second and gone the next without a sound. For a moment Scarlet stood there blinking several times before moving her left hand up and rubbing her left eye hoping that the monster would either really be gone or reappear just to be certain. Her inexperience and lack of knowledge came to a head as Scarlet’s greatest weaknesses as the monster appears behind her with no warning and in the next moment its long claws are shoved in the back of her right shoulder.
Scarlet feeling the puncture of several blades behind her shoulder cries out in pain, although her actions seem like something else entirely. Her training not with the ax that now barely remains within the weakened grasp of her right hand, but with her body as a whole. Turning on her heels Scarlet’s left arm moves sideways moving the monster’s decrypted arm to the side while her right leg stands firm enough that her left leg shoots forward like a piston. All she could hope for was her left foot would plant itself against the stomach of this monster hard enough to knock it backwards freeing her shoulder from its clutches.
{Beat Stick: Axe} Name: The Beat Stick Description: This can be made into any weapon the user wishes upon purchase. In short, this is a very strong, very durable weapon. What you see is what you get with this one. A typical looking modern axe that one would use to chop wood. Its shaft is completely black and made of solid metal while the head is shiny steel. The head is fashioned in the typical shape with a slight sharper curve towards the bottom.

Eshin's claws found their mark, piercing through the human's flesh and causing blood to spill across his claws. The sweet aroma of spilled blood filled his nostrils and the sounds of her pained cries echoed in his ears, fueling his adrenaline. Eshin reveled in the thrill of the hunt, the excitement and euphoria that came with it, a twisted smile accompanying the sheer ecstasy he had, perfectly hidden behind the golden mask of Buddha. He felt the rush of power coursing through his veins as he relished in the feeling of the blood seeping into his claws, staining his skin with a reminder of the pain he caused, the justice he had earned. He relished in his strength and the superiority he felt over this mortal.
But his opponent was not done yet. She used the momentum of his attack to strike back, delivering a powerful kick to his abdomen that sent him staggering backwards. The pain coursed through his body, shivers running up his spine and reminding him of his own mortality. Eshin felt a rush of frustration, but he was not deterred. Though it sent shivers of pain through his body, it did not defeat him. Eshin analyzed her movements, using the wisdom he had gained in his isolation, becoming a Buddha in his own right, and prepared for his counterattack.
He swung his claws in wide arcs, testing her reflexes and getting a feel for her rhythm. As his claws pointed towards her calf, he channeled all of his power and unleashed it from the soles of his feet, twisted bolts of lightning launching him forward, a conduit for a devastating attack that launched him forward with lightning speed. He aimed to pierce through her defense and cripple her, sending her to the ground in agony if he was completely successful. He relished in the thought of her suffering, of watching her writhe in pain and begging for mercy. He was the predator, and she was merely his prey... the first of many.
{Techniques and Reiatsu} Technique Name: Luna Paso Cero (Moon Step Zero)
Class:6
Technique Type: Hollow Technique
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects:
A Cero expelled from the user's feet to propel them through the air. By controlling the power of the blast, the technique can vary. A powerful blast can cause the user to rocket upwards, but damages the ground they were standing on. By doing this repeatedly, the user can zigzag through the air. A weaker blast will merely cause the user to "hop", but if done repeatedly, the user can literally bounce on thin air, allowing them to cross gaps by bunny-hopping across them. And if the user is sent flying, they can merely hop down to the ground safely in the same way one would walk down stairs.

Scarlet felt the body of this monster against her foot, although her left side wasn’t her prominent force it was enough that she watched the monster get moved backwards. The resistance that she felt though was surprising. This thing really was exactly what it looked like, horrific yes, but all skin and no muscle. Scarlet was used to training in karate against others her own age. At least she had been when she was still in school. Although it had been a handful of years she still had some of her skill and could tell now this monster was light.
Although the pain from the holes in the back of her shoulder were there and it felt cold more than anything else, Scarlet had a grin on her face now. The ax in her right hand was now held tight and this monster seemed a lot less scary. She’d let her eyes tell her to be afraid instead of standing her ground. Things only became more clear to Scarlet in the next few moments as this monster came at her. . . slower than expected. A party, a block, a knock to the side and all the wide open swings of the claws from this monster were deflected like they were thrown by a small child.
“It doesn’t know what it’s doing!”
Although the monster’s claws were sharp that seemed to be all it knew how to use. The way it attacked was open and Scarlet didn’t just have the speed to intercept them but the physical strength to stop the attacks before the claws could touch her. The last time though Scarlet had to take a step back and swing the backward of her ax, clashing it against the claws of this monster. Something the monster may get hurt by due to the sturdiness of the ax paired with Scarlet’s physical strength.
Moving the ax handle to her left side with her right hand now up towards the head of the weapon, Scarlet stares down the monster that damned mask, seeming still like a nightmare. In the next moment she felt the view change as all she could see would be the figure of the decrypted almost mummified monster in front of her. Its physical strength seemed more limited than anything, only managing to get Scarlet off her feet with the momentum it managed to conjure from nothing.
On the ground with her blood painting the floor birds below from her shoulder Scarlet swings up at the monster. It’d planned to follow up, likely stabbing her again with its claws but if it didn’t pay attention it was going to rush right down and feel the heavy impact of the ax striking its right side. Scarlet wasn’t certain where her ax was going to hit whether it be the torso or the arm, but the size of this thing almost guaranteed she was hitting something if it didn’t stay put. She got stabbed, she was more than ready to pay that back by taking this monster's arm.

Eshin's rage was at a boiling point as he struggled against the human who dared to challenge his power. The initial wound he inflicted on her was only a momentary advantage, as she quickly regained her footing and displayed her skill in the art of combat. He had underestimated her abilities, and now, she was showing him just how much. The initial stab he had made had failed to dishearten her, as she rose back up with a new fire in her eyes. He swung in wide arcs, hoping she would dodge, but she proved herself to be skilled in the art of Karate, blocking, parrying, and pushing his claws aside with ease.
Eshin was now faced with a realization that was devastating to him. Could it be possible that he had become weaker? The thought was almost unbearable. Here he was, being tossed around like a child, losing to a mere human, one who hadn't even come close to the man he once was in his life, the man he had thought he surpassed. The thought began to spiral in his head, but he couldn't let it stop him from his hunt. If she was truly stronger than he was now, then all he would have to do was to take that strength for himself. Out of sheer anger and frustration, he lunged at her with sudden momentum from the lightning surging from his feet, successfully pushing her to the ground, but she did not let up. With an axe in hand, she struck him with a blow that embedded deep into his sunken flesh, causing him to howl in pain. The unnatural and inhuman roar that escaped from the eerily still and peaceful mask echoed throughout the halls of the Kiyomizudera temple.
His neck craned upwards while the pain coursed through him, revealing the sunken chest underneath his beard, and more noticeably, the gaping hole in its center. This served two purposes however, the first was to distract and cause her to lower her guard, while the second was to aim for yet another ability of his. The built-up frustrations culminated in yet another power being unlocked within him. Nine bolts of twisted lightning shot out from his mouth, crashing against the ceiling, as if he was throwing a temper tantrum like a mindless beast. However, Eshin was wise, and he knew that he was too slow in his body to actually hurt her. As such, as soon as the lightning bolts were released, he stepped outside of reality once more at unparalleled speed, appearing a few meters away, only for the bolts to ricochet off of the ceiling and strike at her with force.

{Techniques and Reiatsu} Technique Name: Cero Lluvia (Rain Zero)
Class: 6
Technique Type: Hollow Technique
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects:
This creates a much weaker version of Cero, or more accurately creates several much weaker variations of Cero, all at once. Up to nine can be created at once, all with significantly less explosive power than even a Bala. However, the purpose of the technique is to be used indoors. It can be fired into the ceiling, where it will bounce off once and explode upon hitting something else later. This is particularly deadly in low level combat. Inexperienced, new Shinigami are often challenged by Hollows using this Cero.
How to use technique:
Fire like a regular Cero, but at the ceiling.

Forced on her back by this monster Scarlet felt the bite of her ax sink deep into what was supposed to be one of its arms. In all honesty though she wasn’t even sure if she would describe it as such with how it looked. Now that she was getting as good a look as possible with the monster moving away from her with a haunting scream she could only hope was from pain, well it really was starting to look like she was fighting some sort of corpse zombie. Taking only a moment to glance at the head of her ax, Scarlet could see there wasn’t really much trace of liquid and what was there didn’t really look like normal blood. “You can die!”
What Scarlet had just accomplished was all she needed to know, the kick had been one thing, but with her ax she had just harmed it enough that it backed away like it was in danger. A wound was in plain view and now her confidence was really building up over the fear. She’d watched one of these things get killed by the man dressed in all black, they could die which meant she could live through this. Holding her ax in both hands now Scarlet prepares herself to close the distance between them and yet then the monster raised its head and she saw the hole. A hole right through the chest was clear as day and yet this thing was still alive. What was going on and how did any of this make any sense?
What came next was again something that didn’t make much sense if any at all to Scarlet, she’d seen that man dressed in black use orange colored lightning like rope or chains, now this monster unleashed small baseball like orbs from its mouth. “What the f” Scarlet shouts before swinging and rushing off several feet. Over the course of the next few minutes her ax split one of the orbs in half. She felt a heavy blow to her right arm, torso and back each one knocking her against one of the walls and blowing off pieces of her white top. By the time the monster reappeared in the hallway though he’d see no sign of Scarlet as she’d rushed through one of the rooms in the temple. Now running at her top speed to the front knowing that in an open space she’d at least be less restricted with her ax than inside that damned hallway where everything seemed to bounce.
Wounds: 5x stabs to the back of right shoulder, small explosions to right side of torso, arm and back all bleeding slightly yet heavily bruised.
Eshin's wrathful roar echoed through the temple halls as his anger boiled over. He could not believe the audacity of this mere mortal, to have the nerve to proclaim his own death. Was he truly so weak that a single swipe of her hand could end his existence? Had a lifetime of miserable sacrifice, useless discipline, and endless temperance led to a warrior so weak!? This was an insult to everything he had worked for, everything he had earned through a lifetime of strength and experience. It was a disgrace to the Buddha he had become, the enlightened being that broke the Cycle of Samsara alone.
His frustration mounted as he swung his claws and shot out bolts of twisted lightning, a demonstration of the tempest of agony swirling within him, but still she remained standing, not only unphased by his attempts to end her, but even playing with him, tossing him aside like he was nothing. She proved to him, time and time again, that he was slow, careless, and foolish. In truth, it was a humbling experience, to have one's own strengths and abilities called into question, but Eshin could not accept it. He refused to believe that he was not the strongest, the most powerful being in the room. Even in his life, he had never faced defeat, never faced failure, he would not allow it today.
His power surged and raged, filling the temple with his suffering and his agony, twisted bolts of lightning raining down from the heavens to strike the agile rodent. He thought that as he slipped through the realms, she would finally fall and he could claim his victory, but when he returned, she was nowhere to be found. He knew he hadn't won though, especially as he caught a whiff of the blood staining the floor boards. There was a trail of blood that led out to the main courtyard. A part of him had told him that he should have let her go then and there, but with the damage he received, this was surely his defeat. The realization that he may have lost this battle was a bitter pill to swallow, but Eshin refused to accept it. He would find this woman, and he would prove to her, and to himself, that he was not weak. He was not foolish. He was the Buddha, and he would not be defeated by a mere mortal.
As he trailed the path of crimson, the once-mighty Eshin felt his heart race with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. He had longed for the thrill of the hunt, but now that it was before him, he could not ignore the fear that gnawed at the pit of his stomach. This woman, this mere human, had the audacity to wound him, to make him feel pain. He had considered himself to be the hunter, the one who brought death and destruction to his enemies, the one who had surpassed human constraints, but now he felt as if he was the prey, constantly aware of the weapon she wielded and the strength she possessed. The wound in his arm throbbed with every step, a constant reminder of his failure, of his growing weakness. Eshin knew that if he was to find her and make her pay, he must approach with caution, with care. He must be the predator once more, or risk losing everything he had fought so hard to gain.
He had followed the trail until he saw the entrance to the courtyard, hesitating as he approached. Had she been waiting on the other side of the heavy-set doors, he would be walking into a trap. Perhaps it was better for him to remain where he stood, forcing a stalemate as he allowed his energy to gather once more. The hollowed one stood his ground, a looming shadow as he focused on his malice once more. He had been avoiding his martial training for decades, but this he would never forget. The importance of focus and discipline in battle. Now, after death, he felt as if the lightning he created could have been more focused, more condensed. He needed it to be faster, stronger. He channeled all of that energy into the palms of his hands, arcs of twisted lightning surging between his gnarled claws.

Standing in the front courtyard of the temple Scarlet could see and hear everything around her, it was easy for the moment as nothing was really around her at all. The temple had been left when this monster had been felt and shut off to tourists. Something Scarlet had put together while she had been running. “So glad someone FILLED ME IN!” Scarlet shouts in a moment of rage. She’d passed by so many people in the area, someone had to have seen her making her way and yet none of them said a damn thing. That’s when she heard the sound of droplets and Scarlet turned her head.
Down on her right side at the cement floor of the courtyard was blood. Blood from the wounds that she was currently suffering from and now Scarlet could see just how bad of a situation she was in now. Her adrenaline had kept her going even through the heavy blows only a minute or so ago. Now with the sight of the blood leaking from her body Scarlet felt all the wounds and knew she was in trouble. This was the real moment she realized her top was tattered as well with the right side barely holding together.
She had to really weigh the options now and figure out if she could handle this, finish the job and eliminate the monster. She was hurt though so could she risk this or was it just better to retreat for now, heal up and then return now that she has better knowledge about this monster. She didn’t really get much time to make that choice though as she heard the sound of screaming and then light in the shadows of the temple. Turning her head Scarlet could see right away where this monster was now. All she could do though is wait and anticipate what was about to happen with her ax in hand ready to cut whatever was about to be thrown at her in two.

Eshin was forced to delve deep into the principles of Buddhism that he had thought he had left behind, but now he found himself calling upon them once again. He closed his eyes and focused on his breathing, allowing himself to feel the energy coursing through his body, seeking to understand the powers that he now possessed. The stillness of his mind was a stark contrast to the fire that raged within, a malice that had festered for years and now threatened to consume him. Within the contrast came change, however, as inconsistency often bred breakthroughs. There was no time for vanity as he was now, weakened no doubt from 70 years of complete isolation. His spirit was strong, but his body was weak.
With each mindful breath, he took in the familiar sights and sounds of the Kiyomizudera temple, once his home and the place he dedicated his entire life to, and now a shell of its former glory. With each passing moment, his hatred only grew, and with it, the two orbs of twisted lightning grew larger, pulsing with the intensity of his malice. The Kiyomizudera temple shook as he burst through the doors, the heavy wood splintering under the force of his entry. Sunlight touched his skin once more, and he stood in the courtyard, his prey in sight. He saw the woman, standing there with her axe at the ready, and he felt his anger flare up once more.
With a roar, he launched the two Balas, the balls of condensed malice, one after the other in quick succession. They flew through the air, twisting and turning as they approached the woman, who stood her ground. Eshin raised his claws, preparing for her retaliation with a focus he had not shown until now. He watched her movements, her attacks, even if his vision was not what it once was. He had enough battle sense to possibly predict where her swing could go, based on his height all of her attacks focused on his arms or his torso, so his guard was relatively low. His face was far out of reach and his legs were shrouded by his robe, leaving the most lucrative target to be center mass or the arms themselves.
Based on what he felt as his swings were deflected and parried, she had a base in Karate and was fairly skilled. Karate, from his memory, was focused heavily on strikes and primarily targeted the center or the face had it been in reach. She would have used more punches and strikes with her upper body had she not been heavily injured across her arms, which meant that a kick was more likely. She had strength in her kicks, but he had to predict her movement before she could end the fight on her own terms, as such, he prepared his claws to wrap around her leg had she actually decided on a kick.
Wounds now: Kicked in the torso, cracked claws on one hand, deep cut into the same arm as the cracked claws
A straightforward and simple technique that hardens the user's Reiatsu and releases it like a swift blast of spiritual energy. While the technique is not nearly as powerful as a Cero, its speed is twice as fast and allows for it to be fired in quick repetition. The orb of reiatsu fired varies in size and strength, some Arrancar creating one the size of a basketball with the rough power of a massive punch, and others creating Bala with enough power to blast holes in adversaries. Some Espada can create Bala as large and powerful as an average Arrancar's Cero.
How to use technique:
The user must first aim and then fire the technique, as is custom of any projectile type.
Technique Drawbacks
50 Reiatsu cost. Due to its compressed nature, Bala suffers a 25% reduction to Reiatsu Strength.
RS of each Bala is 56 after reduction
Reiatsu: 245 - 100 = 145/370

This really wasn’t what Scarlet had been expecting which was something in and of itself when she hadn’t known what to expect. She’d come to this temple to seek out what might have caused her to suddenly start seeing strange individuals and monsters like the one currently trying to kill jet. Instead this was the only thing that she found at the temple. A strange very tall monster that now instead of trying to scratch her was throwing out energy like he was some sort of anime character.
Thankfully Scarlet had seen things like what was being used against her right now in video games and anime and by comparison, what was being used against her was nothing. She could hope for nothing better than what was happening after being hit by three of them. Just a hit of bleeding that was making her right side very hard to use now and cold from the blood loss. It wasn’t a good situation that much Scarlet knew, but she had to think of the positive, she still had her arm and was still alive.
Based on what the energy looked like she’d expect it to completely disintegrate her body. So a big bruise, bleeding and pain. Well it wasn’t amazing, but it was better than what she would have expected and for that reason she was able to keep her confidence for the moment now staring down the monster. Two more energy sources held in its hands now and Scarlet was ready to cut them at a moment’s notice like a pair of baseballs.
She didn’t really get the chance though as the bala were fired and immediately Scarlet’s average perception couldn’t track, spot or react to the movements. In less than a moment Scarlet felt the impact against her torso. It was like she just punched herself with full strength right in the chest twice one after the other. Getting knocked off her feet with pieces of her white top being burned away and others torn from the main body. Slamming onto the cement behind her Scarlet grunts in pain while her left hand remains strong on the shaft of her ax.
“Damn it’s scared. It won’t come near me now. Gotta figure out how to make it or get away.”
Wounds: 5x stabs to the back of right shoulder, small explosions to right side of torso, arm and back all bleeding slightly yet heavily bruised. Two heavy bruises on the front of torso.
Eshin approached with caution, the warrior's fire in her eyes filling him with both fear and excitement. He was wary of her strength, but also keenly aware of the wounds she carried. Despite her skills and prowess, he had managed to deal a significant blow, and the life force within her was weakening. Eshin could smell what seemed like fear and desperation seeping from her, and it only fueled his bloodlust even further. He could feel his power growing as he approached, the taste of blood in the air tantalizing him.
Eshin's Balas had done their work, the two balls of condensed malice and hatred striking her at great speed, knocking her to the ground and leaving her clothes and skin charred and in tatters. The right side of her body was nearly unusable at this point, but the will of a warrior still burned in her eyes. A younger Eshin, one who had yet to transcend his mortal limits, would have admired this show of strength, but as he was now, Eshin despised her. The hollowed one was ready to pounce and consume her once and for all, but he held himself back. The desperation in her grip on her axe told him she was not yet done, like a cornered beast, and he needed to be careful.
Eshin grumbled in thought, considering whether or not he should unleash another Bala, attacking from a distance once more to keep himself safe at the risk of exhausting himself, but utilizing all the malice he had stored up to create a final set of blasts to destroy this rat once and for all. The thought was tempting, but recklessness often led to defeat, so he needed to be cautious. The claws guarded his torso, ready to move down and protect his legs from any sudden swings from the ground. He began a careful approach, unhinging his jaw and allowing himself a chance to sink his teeth into her, his bones letting out a sickening crunch as his jaw hung loosely, further cementing how inhuman he truly was.
Finally, Eshin approached, still ready to defend against any oncoming attacks should she get up and attempt to strike at him. He was prepared to stand his ground and defend against her attacks should she be quick on her feet, though with her wounds, it was unlikely. Should she not move out of the way, he would bring one set of claws down to attempt to stab into her ribs, but his other set of claws were primed to clash against any swings of her axe. With a deep growl, he lunged forward, ready to end this battle once and for all. The scent of blood and death was thick in the air, and the only thing left was for one to claim victory over the other.
