It's not Magic, It's Science! (JT Closed)

Keira's alarm woke the young scientist up from her slumber. It was abnormally early for her to be waking up, but there was a reason for her to be awake at this early hour, but first thing was first. Keira got up and shuffled to the main living area to fix herself some much needed coffee. Keira prepared the coffee machine with the precision only years of repetition could give her. Soon, the aroma of fresh coffee started to make its way throughout the room, and the rest of the laboratory. With the life blood of the gods in her hands, Keira was able to go about starting her day. Keira took several sips of her coffee going over the list of things to do this morning. 

The first thing she decided to do was take a shower, and fill her belly with whatever that she happened to find laying around. She should really consider organizing her daily life and not just her research. Eh, she will do it later. Keira brushed her teeth and attempted to tame her long pink hair before getting frustrated and just put it in its usual ponytail. Keira was never one to really care about how she presented herself. She exited the bathing area putting on a fresh lab coat over her simple white dress. She summoned one of her reiatsu arms not feeling like walking around today. She rode it through the lab until she reached her practice range.

She spent several minutes setting up the range and calibrating the equipment in order to give accurate data on how to not only her, but her new assistant could improve. She checked the time on her phone once she finished seeing that it was around seven o clock. That should be enough time for her to sleep, Keira thought heading to the room that she prepared for her assistant. Once she reached the door, she opened it without so much as a courtesy knock. "Rise and shine buttercup!" She shouted almost like a drill sergeant. "Science waits for no one lets go! Up and at em!"

Stillness a sensation of nothingness almost as if one were to be floating around in the very void of existence. How can one elaborate on the feeling one gains by moving around gently on the current of black. Somehow it was all around, everywhere and yet it was nothingness in essence, by the same manner though how could my eyes perceive it? How was my kind aware of the darkness encompassing me now when there was nothing beyond myself. Asking the question of where and then it was bright once more.

Awaking on the small cot of a bed that one could envision would be used for camping, the young spirit by the name of Madelyn raised her head from the small pillow which had kept her neck from straining itself throughout the night. Perhaps the only thing of gain though as Maddie felt her heart racing and her body covered in sweat. The blanket gave her comfort more than heat while the clothing she wore was typical more so than heavy. There was no reason for her body to be in such a state of panic and yet she knew instinctively her dream, the void she could recall fleetingly was the reason yet why her dream had been such was beyond her.

"Rise and shine buttercup! Science waits for no one lets go! Up and at em!"

The voice of Dr. Bright was one Madelyn had a feeling she was going to get used to fairly quickly although her attention would take a bit more time. Despite everything that she had learned the first night and the horrors that she had to do her best to handle, Maddie still felt the joy of this contradiction. Dr. Bright who appeared to be so small and pretty, behaving like a muscular lumberjack, a thought that made her forget her issues for a moment.

Wasting no time Maddie gets up from the cot while turning to look at Dr. Bright and witnessing the coffee cup in her hand. A moment later before words could even be sent from her lips, Maddie’s eyes notice the sheen of pink hair. Knowledge gained from experience in her own life brought about the information that Dr. Bright had to have partook in a shower more than likely, something Madelyn was eager to have now that her clothing stuck to her as if she were an athlete in competition.

“We’ll be doing something scientific today? Aren’t I a spirit more or less? Isn’t that more religious? Please tell me there’s more coffee Dr. Bright.”

Keira waved her hand dismissively at the young woman's comment about her existence being a more religious than scientific. She doesn't know it yet, but Keira will drill it into her that everything can be explained scientifically if you think about it enough. "There is nothing that science can't explain!" Keira proclaimed. "Now come on time is wasting, and the coffee is getting cold." She said taking a long drink from her coffee cup. Keira turned from the girl about to walk out of the door. "The coffee is in the living area, and let me know if you need a reminder where the showers are." She went over where most of the important areas of the asylum are for general living keeping her clear of the darker elements for now. She left returning to the living area waiting for Maddie to be ready for todays scientific endeavors.

Although her question made sense in her eyes Dr. Bright immediately shut it down remarking how everything came down to science which believe it or not brought a smile tk Madelyn’s face. The smile wasn’t intentional in fact Maddie wouldn’t even realize her lips had risen before Keira could see the display herself. Dr. Bright in that moment reminding Madelyn of a horribly corny school video while her pure confidence was nothing short of inspiring. For a timid girl in a world she didn’t understand Dr. Bright was awesome.

Wasting no time though once she learned that more coffee was available Madelyn bounced once or twice. “No I remember, thank you again Dr. Bright I’ll be in the living room soon. I just need a shower first.” Moving from the room that she slept in Madelyn felt awkward for a moment not knowing whether or not to bow towards Dr. Bright. She knew that many like her grandfather still followed such signs of respect but Keira looked young and many her age didn’t follow such things as strictly anymore. When she got to the bathroom though Maddie felt embarrassed more for the look of her hair.

A sweating tangled mess of knots with strands glued to her face by the sweat. Her face looked flushed and circles of dark had already formed beneath her bright eyes. To any normal girl her age, what she saw in the mirror looking back at her would have been enough to know the day was ruined, to just give up and accept that it was time to apply as much makeup as possible. Madelyn though didn’t have any makeup with her nor was she going to be seeing anyone other than Dr. Bright today so what was the point?

Getting into the shower Maddie wanted to just take a quick dip to clean the sweat from her skin and hair while doing the best to get all the knots out. Once she stepped in though the nice hot water cascading down her form brought about instant relaxation. The most pleasant feeling she’d experienced since waking up on the street yesterday. What was supposed to take only a couple minutes ended up being around twenty filled with Maddie taking brief pauses to just enjoy the heat across her skin. “Umm Dr. Bright can the washer handle being used after two showers?”

Madelyn standing on the edge of the doorway to the living room. She had to wash her clothes otherwise she’d just be putting sweat back on herself, while dirty clothing getting back on just never felt good to her. She knew the location and had her clothes over there but hadn’t started it yet. Currently wrapped in a towel with embarrassment still the primary emotion. Based on whether the washing machine could handle it or not Madelyn would enter the living room nervously holding the towel as if at any moment it’d fall.

Making her way over to fashion herself a nice cup of coffee was when the day would really begin for the fresh spirit. Entering into the living room though Madelyn saw that Dr. Bright wasn’t standing up and walking on the ground. She was floating in the air, something she thought she only saw after just waking up from her strange dream. Looking at her feet though Madelyn saw a large clawed hand and her eyes seemed to grow in disbelief. “How can science explain that Dr. Bright?” Maddie pointed at the hand now to in shock to finish making her coffee.
