Height/Weight: 5’10” / 118 lbs
Physical Description: Shiho has a slight build though a good overall figure she almost seems underweight. Her green eyes have a gloomy look about them like she doesn’t get enough sleep. The green is an almost pale dark green hidden behind circular rimmed thick glasses. She has long bright Red hair that she braids into forward facing twin tails that come around her shoulders to rest just over her chest. Her face is actually rather cute, small nose round shape, medium cheekbones but her posture affected by her personality is usually tilted downwards a bit giving her facial gestures a less than flattering angle. Shiho has a large scar on her stomach from after her death but before she was sent to the soul society left by the teeth of a hollow.
Shiho has a regular uniform in accordance with Shin'ō Academy with a red undershirt and trousers with a white overshirt that bears the academy symbol along with white socks and sandals, she’s taken great care of it to keep it in almost brand new condition. Outside of learning hours she prefers to wear a loose purple track suit, the collar and zipper have a black line running along them as well as the sides of the pants having a similar line. Under that she has a simple black sports bra if she were to take off the shirt because of the heat. When in casual wear she will tie her hair to a loose ponytail behind her back.
When she manifests Reiatsu in some way the color is a dark indigo that almost feels like a slimy ink to touch as if it’s sticky somehow. It has the oppressive feeling like a humid day just before a storm and a matching almost Ozone smell.
{Released}After releasing her Zanpakuto Shiho has a tendency to take off her shirt and her hair usually comes loose too splaying out everywhere. She also has better posture, and various small adjustments to how she holds herself to the point where she almost doesn’t look like the same person. Her smile goes from ‘mildly creepy’ to ‘crazy woman grin’. This is no split in personality, she’s simply far more confident when her weapon is released.

Dislikes: Bullies- Shiho doesn’t like those that deride the weak, especially when it happens to someone else because she feels herself to be weak.
Sweets- she just simply doesn’t like the taste of anything sugary and doesn’t understand people that do.
Direct confrontation- She just doesn’t want to face interpersonal issues head on, usually this will come in the form of not expressing her opinion strongly
Misunderstanding- Moreover she doesn’t like not understanding things she knows about and strives to correct her understanding of them.
Lack of control- She doesn’t like to let her emotions rage and is intimidated in a way by others that wear their feelings on their sleeves. She often reprimands herself for just this as she actually isn’t very good at controlling herself.
Likes: Reading- Including poetry and novels as well as interesting facts that she might otherwise not have known
Experimenting- Shiho likes to try new things even if she’s bad at them, coincidentally this is how she finds most of the things she doesn’t like.
Jogging- Despite low stamina and a few other issues Shiho enjoys moving around because she hadn’t been able to while she was a human in the living world.
Calligraphy- Technically she enjoys all kinds of art but the precision of Calligraphy draws her in for all the small adjustments it takes.
Animals (with exceptions)- From birds to bugs Shiho loves animals especially ones that others might find creepy and weird like a centipede. There is an exception to this found in Fears
Ninjas- She just think's they're cool
Flaws: Soft spoken - Usually allowing herself to just be talked over or likely to have things she says ignored because nobody was listening.
Obsessive - There is a compulsion within her to learn absolutely everything about something she’s interested in, especially if it’s new.
Creepy - Usually when interacting with someone she’s just subtly off of a normal social person and others almost always come away thinking she’s weird.
Clingy - She doesn’t let go once she decides she likes someone, even if it hurts her.
Insecure - She often thinks of herself as inadequate even in things she happens to excel in, regardless of praise she gets, if she gets any.
Habits:
Thumb biting - When something is bothering her Shiho will unconsciously bite her thumb.
Giggling - when things are going very well for her Shiho will let out a bubbly giggle or even an out right cackle depending on how you’re listening to it.
‘Stalking’ - Shiho will often follow around people that she likes like a lost puppy, though she’s prone to do it in secret if they express their displeasure with her presence.
Over explaining - everything, if you ask her about something she’s likely to go into a long tangent about it and drown anything meaningful you wanted to know out with a tidal wave of information.
Fears: Dogs- Shiho is terrified of dogs and other large canine creatures as a lingering feeling from being attacked by a Wolf like Hollow when she was a Plus.
Loss - losing the people she likes scares her far more than anything else.
Goals: Shiho wants to elevate her position in the soul society, despite a general feeling of inadequacy feeling that doing so will help her overcome herself in some way.
She wants to learn more about the nature of Reiatsu and the differences in the way races manipulate it, hoping to gather a better understanding for her own manipulation of it.
Shiho wants to protect Pluses and living humans from Hollows, She hopes she can inflict some of the fear in hollows that others feel towards them.
Shiho wants (desperately) to be acknowledged/praised by the people she has an attachment to.

Overall Personality:
Shiho is a shy girl, doubly so when meeting new people, it’s not that she is afraid of talking, it's just that she’s unsure of herself. Because of this she quickly attaches herself to the people that do take an interest in her, clinging to them like she depends on the contact. She is also inquisitive, new things catch her interests easily which makes up the bulk of interactions that she initiates. When she finds something of interest to her she becomes noticeably less cautious about how she conducts her behavior.
Shiho’s behavior otherwise could be considered cautious, she thinks very hard about what she thinks other people expect her to say and what she would like to say. If she thinks that she’ll get a negative reaction from someone she’ll hold her tongue. The way she tests things outside of contact with others reflects this as well, taking as much safety precaution as she can with what she knows. She doesn’t let things going wrong get to her though, considering how to make sure that she doesn’t make the same mistake over and over.
The full attention of someone like her can be stifling for those that she does latch onto and she’s not fully aware of it though when it does come up she puts in an effort to back off somewhat. She’s someone that relies on her intellect to compensate for the shortcomings she displays in social situations. This causes her to retreat inwards with her problems convinced that she’s the one that needs to solve them because she doesn’t think anyone else will help. Insecurities plague her at every turn and this causes her to work hard to cover them, both by hiding it if she can and putting in effort to have the minimum necessary in her mind.
Her studious behavior is plainly obvious to anyone that pays attention to her, when she sets out to accomplish something she rarely falls short, despite telling herself it’s not good enough. Lastly she believes in some form of do unto others, that being good people deserve being treated nice and those that go out of their way to harm others deserve equally cruel punishments. She doesn’t confront those situations though, she wouldn’t invite the danger to herself for no reason unless she was sure she could indeed issue the payback. She wouldn’t bat an eye if someone bad happened to be terribly hurt though and can be surprisingly callous to things she doesn’t care about.
{Released}When Shiho releases her Zanpakudo her personality shifts, she becomes decisive, confident, outspoken. Despite the shift in demeanor she’s still the same person on the inside, smart and detail oriented it’s just that everything zooms in to magnify itself. In some way it’s a literal ‘Release’ of her inhibitions that’s likely to run wild.

Fighting Style: A wise man once said the best defense is a good defense, and while it might not guarantee a good offense that would be the best way to describe how Shiho would like to fight. Her lack of combat acumen leads her to be miserable at physical fighting in any case. For Shiho it’s pretty much all she can do at this point to defend herself from relatively head on attacks with basic block motions. Her sword attacks also leave something to be desired only able to use the easiest and least stressful maneuvers. She tends to overthink causing a slight delay in her actions in combat.
Once she learns to cast Kido her fighting style will evolve to using those techniques as a supplement up to outright replacing regular swordplay. With this she’ll be able to adopt an analytical style of fighting to appropriately deal with her opponents as she comes across them. Typically starting with attempting a binding Bakudō to test them and following up with a Hado. She’s capable of adapting tactics provided she isn’t simply completely outstriped early on. At this stage she maintains a defensive use of her sword while casting with the other hand. Though her Kido doesn’t pack that much of a punch she’s got reserves of Reiatsu to spare for casting that can keep people on their toes.
After she is able to release her Zanpakuto her fighting style undergoes another drastic shift, now able to play with people’s expectations about how particular things work. Shiho uses this to bend and shift the battle to her advantage, if not from longer range then even by tossing enemies aside if she can hit them with her spear. Kido is still the form of attack she prefers at this stage but adding to it a building ability to predict how people will move to dodge or block and she can land hits at odd angles her opponents don’t expect. Additionally now that she’s released she’s far more aggressive than her typical cautious demeanor, pressing attacks she wouldn’t dare attempt before.
{Bankai}The last stage of this is when she obtains Bankai, the much finer control the needles allows her to set elaborate fake outs and traps over a wide area. Combined with aggressive tactics she can swiftly whittle down opponents or stall for time if she needs to, mostly using them to conduct and manipulate her own attacks or hijack her opponents while deflecting danger away from herself. Usually she uses her left hand for the defense and does all the fine manipulation with her right hand.
Zanpakuto Spirit Appearance:[/b] Tenburi appears as an unkempt older woman with a large hat that has a hand on the end of it. She floats just off of the ground on an orb that seems to be made of blood leaving bits of her outfit dragging on the ground. Her hair is excessively long and braided with a light blue tint. She seems to be wearing night cloths of some kind that are constantly half buttoned as well as having one of her long socks dangling half off of a foot and a different color than the one that is actually fitting.This spirit is the lazy sort, she spends her time mostly sleeping and when interacted with she always insists that her help or attention needs to be earned in some way and refuses to expand on what particular way that is. She does quite like seeing genuine effort though and doesn’t hold to her ways stubbornly. However she is overcritical, picking out anything wrong and demanding Shiho be ‘up to snuff’ which never seems to actually be a standard that she could meet.
Inner World:[/b] Shiho’s inner world is a massive library with nature overgrowing it.The halls of bookshelves are broken up by trees and moss that seem to have grown over them. The books technically don’t say anything but Shiho thinks they catalog her memories or knowledge or something.

Zanpakuto Appearances: Sealed: There isn’t much to say about this one, it’s a typical katana you might find any other shinigami with, though the grip has some purple cloth and a small tassel of the same color.{Spirit Appearance Pic}
Released, Shikai: In this form Tenburi takes the shape of a long spear with a Conical drill like head, the shaft also has a slight wave in its grip. The whole thing appears more like it’s made of crystal than any sort of metal. The shaft is a dark purple color and the tip is a golden yellow.{Shikai appearance}
Released, Bankai: Tenburi wholly adopts a new form once again dividing into thirty golden needles that constantly swirl around Shiho’s hands extending just beyond where her hands could touch, the needles can be ‘detached’ from the main mass to remain on their own. Each needle is roughly a foot and a half long. The Needles stay in a stationary orbit around her hands until she moves them.{bankai appearance}

Bankai: 歪神の天舞り (Hizumi-shin no Tenburi: Distortion God’s Heavenly Dance) “Twist across the sky, Hizumi-shin no Tenburi”
Overall Ability: Distortion - The overall theme of the Zanpakuto is distorting Reiatsu, whether benign or harmfully. This includes physically and metaphysically at the higher level, though that in of itself is limited, in its scope, mostly affecting space.
Shikai Overall Ability: The Shikai form of Tenburi can cause anything that contacts the head of the spear to ‘twist’ either the full object or only the part that makes contact. The Shikai itself can act as a conduit to replace pointing or an open hand for most forms of Kido as it applies a twisting effect to Shiho’s Reiatsu to travel along its shaft instead, though this part of the spear doesn’t hold the same effect on other Reiatsu as the spear head does. The Twisting takes place somewhat ‘manually’ as simply touching something only allows it to be affected, and only the last thing to make contact can be affected but twisting can be delayed until Shiho physically rotates the spear to activate its effects. A lack of Instinct in relation to the speed something is traveling can cause her timing of when she should do this to be off.
When applied directly to something she can twist the object into rotating or attempt to twist just a part of it to cause damage to its integrity. The mark appears as a spiral on the affected object or body part. When Applied to something moving however its direction may be twisted without affecting its speed. While it’s possible for Shiho to do this to herself she’s not likely to do so. Lastly, once the ability is used the ‘target’ is discharged whether or not it managed to have an effect.
Shiho’s ability to affect things is directly related to how strong she is in comparison affecting the degree at which she can move something is directly related to how strong she is in relation to it. The maximum she can twist something around is 180 degrees based on how much power she puts behind the ability. The ability takes a degree of fine tuning to work correctly on moving targets or offensive attacks, needing to apply it the very moment she makes contact or the delay will make the impact affect her.
Bankai Overall Ability: The Banki largely keeps the abilities that the Shikai were granted, the difference is that the thirty needles are able to separate out and continue conducting Shiho’s Reiatsu. In addition to this the needles can twist things to an even greater degree. By expending Reiatsu on them Shiho can cause them to twist the space around them, sucking things in or repelling them like a vortex. The needles can be fired off like projectiles a fair distance (around 300 feet) but Shiho can also suspend them in space and cause them to lock into that spot until she recalls it. Note that Shiho is incapable of controlling them from a large distance like some other Zanpakuto though she can change their course once they are flying she can’t add more force at that point and the recall always travels directly back to her. Shiho can rearrange them around her body from the same distance they can manipulate Reiatsu (about five feet). The needles are manipulated by particular hand gestures so are in a way linked to her physical speed, though the amount needed is much less than the Shikai requires to use.
The Needles also need not actually touch things to twist them anymore for some abilities, a small radius around them is capable of twisting anything already affected by one of Shiho’s other abilities that enters the area, now without Shiho needing to take any physical action to do so, though she still incurs the same limitations and costs. The radius granted by an individual needle is about five feet and they don’t stack unless they are placed with overlapping radius. More needles means more chances to activate on any one thing though so gathering them can make her techniques that much stronger.
The needles can also amplify Kido or other kinds of Reiatsu attacks that they twist by incurring an additional cost. The needles are also capable of twisting physical things they are in contact with, and in Shiho’s case they cause no harm when doing so, allowing her a sort of freedom of movement in an unexpected way.

This can also be used on Shiho’s Kido (most useful on the strait line Kido)

Description: Using a designated mark from striking something physical this sends a pulse between the weapon and the mark that causes the location to rotate up to 180 degrees which can be in any direction (front to back, left to right or on a diagonal axis). On something that is stationary (buildings, Torso, hollow mask.) this simply does damage as if struck by her Zanpakuto (based on spiritual pressure). On something that can move (such as an arm or a loose object) this can twist it out of place, swords fly out of hands, arms roll out of socket.
How to Use: Set a mark on something by striking it with the spear tip then Line up the tip of the spear with the mark and then twist.
Drawbacks: Needs to hit the target first to set up the mark. Can still be dodged by moving the mark out of the way. Attack is subject to the Cutback effect and will cause physical damage to Shiho sending the force back into her arms.

Description: This is an evolution of the power her Shikai possessed, this not only changes the direction of the Reiatsu, and to whatever degree she chooses. it can compress it, increasing its speed by a factor of 100% without decreasing its power. This can be used on her own Kido as well.
How to Use: Touch the targeted Reiatsu with the appropriate amount of needles and make a single handed ‘earth’ seal (Index and middle finger extended, other fingers curled into the palm)
Drawbacks: Needs to have an additional needle per technique rank starting from Class 8 with 1 needle up to needing 8 needles to use on a Class 1. Need Instinct + Speed equal to 1/3 the speed of the technique to connect at the correct time. Double costs if Reiatsu Strength of targeted technique is twice Shiho’s spiritual Pressure, Exorbitant Cost (especially by the time she can use it and what kind of techniques people would throw at that level including herself) While it is possible for her to use this on a single technique multiple times the stamina cost of doing so is quite high still. The limit on multiple uses is twice (compounding the bonus to a total of 300%).
Technique Name: (空間渦 Kūkan uzu: Spacial Vortex)
Technique Type: Bankai

Technique Cost: 200 to start and 100 per round after to upkeep
Description: This technique distorts the area surrounding four needles inward creating a Reiatsu vortex that sucks things in and attempts to rip them apart. The area affected is dependent on how long it has remained active, starting at five feet and expanding up to twenty feet after 4 posts. The Vortex will attempt to suck anything in its radius except for Shiho into the center of itself, building its power over time. The technique has the base power of Shiho’s Spiritual Pressure and gains 50% power each post; it remains up to a maximum of 200%. Anyone with less in their offensive stat will find themself sucked towards the center where Shiho’s needles are Rapidly spinning. If two of these overlap the overlapping space will pull things two ways ripping it in both directions causing damage even if something normally would resist being pulled. Shiho can decrease the cost by half by adding double the number of Needles additionally locking them out until she deactivates the technique.
How to Use: Set the needles in the appropriate space and make the Wind hand sign
Drawbacks: Upkeep and slow ramp up effect to full power (which is over ⅓ of the time the Bankai can be released in the first place without paying more costs). Location can’t be moved until the technique is deactivated. Sufficient speed can escape the force of the vortex, anything moving twice as fast as the technique's power can escape it before they are sucked into the center. Vortex is rather obvious. Vortex can be disrupted early by striking it with something 150 Offense over it or by something with a higher class (Class 1) that it doesn’t overpower (and Class 0 obviously would shunt it no matter what). Occupies those needles until technique is deactivated.
Technique Name: (変更要素 Henkō yōso: Elemental Shift)

Technique Cost: 100(200 or 400)
Description: Affected techniques have their effects for the element scrambled somewhat doing something that you wouldn’t expect from them. Ice becomes hot (though still a solid block), Fire forces people back like an explosion, Wind jumps and lingers like lightning and Lightning freezes the things it hits. Regular stone may also be turned to quicksand in this manner as well. If used on someone with an elemental release it can invert their element on them causing it to do harm to them if it otherwise wouldn’t, though this function is far more difficult and costs more.
How to Use: Having Needles touch the affected element and rapidly changing one elemental hand movement to another.
Drawbacks: The element must be present (or in use from a spell of some sort) to use. Effect costs twice the amount of Reiatsu and Needles to use on someone else’s release as an allied effect. Costs four times the amount of Reiatsu and Needles to use as inversion, which only lasts a single round and can’t be used again on the same person ever. Number of needles needed depends on the Class of Technique being affected.
Technique Name: 不和の世界 Fuwa no sekai: Distortion World
Technique Type: Bankai

Technique Cost: 50 per effect + 50 per round upkeep (meaning the cost is combined and per post)
Description: The affected area becomes distorted into sections of different Physics, There can be up to seven unique sets (four needles required for each) overlapping at intersections within the set area. Each section will resist movement coming from a particular direction. Up, Down, East, West, North, South as well as In or Out. Not all seven need to be used and Shiho chooses them as soon as she creates the area. Anyone fighting against the distortion will receive damage for moving at or faster than 150 speed in that direction with the exception of In and Out which cause knockback at speed equal to Shiho’s Spiritual Pressure if you’re not moving at least that fast (which will make you pass through the pain areas at high speeds). This has no effect on Reiatsu based attacks(Kido, Cero and the like) which pass through harmlessly. The ‘box’ is clearly visible, once the effect is activated as a purple aura connecting the needles. The connections overlap in a grid pattern, each making a two (or three in the case of the outer walls) direction box. Each section is a ten foot cube, up to twenty eight of which can be layered on top of each other making the maximum total area of the box 700 square feet. Damage increases each time you double speed after 150 (at 300, 600, 1200 and so on.)
How to Use: Create a Box of at least four needles and make the hand signs for each of the directions to imbue it with.
Drawbacks: Shiho is not immune to this particular effect, if she’s inside the box she is subject to the same limitations (however she knows which spaces have illegal directions.) Someone with Strength enough can resist the drag so long as they have at least double the Strength of the speed they are moving. Shiho needs to spend at least one post setting up the area before activating the technique, (she can still fight but there needs to be RP of setting the needles in place before turning the technique on. Area doesn’t hinder pure Reiatsu attacks. At maximum capacity uses up 28 out of 30 needles (leaving Shiho with only 2 to fight with)

Double costs if Reiatsu Strength of targeted technique is twice Shiho’s spiritual Pressure, Exorbitant Cost (especially by the time she can use it and what kind of techniques people would throw at that level including herself) While it is possible for her to use this on a single technique multiple times the stamina cost of doing so is quite high still. The limit on multiple uses is twice (compounding the bonus to a total of 300%).
Technique Name: (空間渦 Kūkan uzu: Spacial Vortex)
Technique Type: Bankai

Technique Cost: 200 to start and 100 per round after to upkeep
Description: This technique distorts the area surrounding four needles inward creating a Reiatsu vortex that sucks things in and attempts to rip them apart. The area affected is dependent on how long it has remained active, starting at five feet and expanding up to twenty feet after 4 posts. The Vortex will attempt to suck anything in its radius except for Shiho into the center of itself, building its power over time. The technique has the base power of Shiho’s Spiritual Pressure and gains 50% power each post; it remains up to a maximum of 200%. Anyone with less in their offensive stat will find themself sucked towards the center where Shiho’s needles are Rapidly spinning. If two of these overlap the overlapping space will pull things two ways ripping it in both directions causing damage even if something normally would resist being pulled. Shiho can decrease the cost by half by adding double the number of Needles additionally locking them out until she deactivates the technique.
How to Use: Set the needles in the appropriate space and make the Wind hand sign
Drawbacks: Upkeep and slow ramp up effect to full power (which is over ⅓ of the time the Bankai can be released in the first place without paying more costs). Location can’t be moved until the technique is deactivated. Sufficient speed can escape the force of the vortex, anything moving twice as fast as the technique's power can escape it before they are sucked into the center. Vortex is rather obvious. Vortex can be disrupted early by striking it with something 150 Offense over it or by something with a higher class (Class 1) that it doesn’t overpower (and Class 0 obviously would shunt it no matter what). Occupies those needles until technique is deactivated.

Technique Cost: 100(200 or 400)
Description: Affected techniques have their effects for the element scrambled somewhat doing something that you wouldn’t expect from them. Ice becomes hot (though still a solid block), Fire forces people back like an explosion, Wind jumps and lingers like lightning and Lightning freezes the things it hits. Regular stone may also be turned to quicksand in this manner as well. If used on someone with an elemental release it can invert their element on them causing it to do harm to them if it otherwise wouldn’t, though this function is far more difficult and costs more.
How to Use: Having Needles touch the affected element and rapidly changing one elemental hand movement to another.
Drawbacks: The element must be present (or in use from a spell of some sort) to use. Effect costs twice the amount of Reiatsu and Needles to use on someone else’s release as an allied effect. Costs four times the amount of Reiatsu and Needles to use as inversion, which only lasts a single round and can’t be used again on the same person ever. Number of needles needed depends on the Class of Technique being affected.
Technique Name: 不和の世界 Fuwa no sekai: Distortion World

Technique Cost: 50 per effect + 50 per round upkeep (meaning the cost is combined and per post)
Description: The affected area becomes distorted into sections of different Physics, There can be up to seven unique sets (four needles required for each) overlapping at intersections within the set area. Each section will resist movement coming from a particular direction. Up, Down, East, West, North, South as well as In or Out. Not all seven need to be used and Shiho chooses them as soon as she creates the area. Anyone fighting against the distortion will receive damage for moving at or faster than 150 speed in that direction with the exception of In and Out which cause knockback at speed equal to Shiho’s Spiritual Pressure if you’re not moving at least that fast (which will make you pass through the pain areas at high speeds). This has no effect on Reiatsu based attacks(Kido, Cero and the like) which pass through harmlessly. The ‘box’ is clearly visible, once the effect is activated as a purple aura connecting the needles. The connections overlap in a grid pattern, each making a two (or three in the case of the outer walls) direction box. Each section is a ten foot cube, up to twenty eight of which can be layered on top of each other making the maximum total area of the box 700 square feet. Damage increases each time you double speed after 150 (at 300, 600, 1200 and so on.)
How to Use: Create a Box of at least four needles and make the hand signs for each of the directions to imbue it with.
Drawbacks: Shiho is not immune to this particular effect, if she’s inside the box she is subject to the same limitations (however she knows which spaces have illegal directions.) Someone with Strength enough can resist the drag so long as they have at least double the Strength of the speed they are moving. Shiho needs to spend at least one post setting up the area before activating the technique, (she can still fight but there needs to be RP of setting the needles in place before turning the technique on. Area doesn’t hinder pure Reiatsu attacks. At maximum capacity uses up 28 out of 30 needles (leaving Shiho with only 2 to fight with)

History: Shiho began life as a farm girl, it wasn’t exactly a glamorous lifestyle but she liked it all the same. She took care of the farm animals even as a young girl, she was decent at the job having a good feel for how animals acted. The only thing missing for her of course was something adventurous to do around the area. This led her to the only thing that provided the sense of adventure, books. Shiho didn’t just read books about adventure though, once she started reading it became one of her favorite things to do. She read whatever she could get her hands on but mostly it ended up giving her a large swath of trivia knowledge rather than useful skills.
At school age Shiho was ostracized from children her age for being weird or ‘giving off creepy vibes’. This depressed her somewhat as she simply wanted to share the things she learned in books with others at that point. There was one kid that wasn’t completely against talking to her though, and even chased off the other kids that were bullying her once. This was her first obsession with another person, Natsumi Yamada. Not sure if being seen with her would cause problems for the other girl, Shiho came to the conclusion that she should just watch her from farther away. Normally this kind of stalking would probably push someone away but Natsumi seemed to just understand that Shiho meant well. Eventually they actually became real friends in high school and wanted to go to college together.
She had studied hard for the opportunity, pouring over the study materials like a maniac to make sure she was a top scorer. She refused to not get into the same university that her best friend had chosen but fate had other plans for her. On their way to college the very first day Natsumi was almost hit by a truck and Shiho pushed her out of the way, but she didn’t make it in time, both of them got hit. This didn’t kill her, rather it simply robbed her of most of her mobility and led to a long hospital stay, Natsume on the other hand was put in a coma. Her friend still hadn't woken up by the time she was set to going into surgery for her own issues. Through this combination of things Shiho still worried about her friend when her surgery went wrong, leaving her with lingering regrets.
She woke up a spirit from there, and her soul chain was wrapped around her best friend. She didn’t really understand what that meant at the time but a while passed before Natsume woke up. She was bound in the human world though, just sort of haunting her friend as she recovered. She wanted to comfort her but well she couldn’t exactly say she was okay being dead and all. This actually lasted for quite some time, just reading over her shoulder and wandering around wherever she visited but that changed rather abruptly. She was milling about like usual when an actual wall exploded! Her human companion couldn’t see it but she noticed having her wall broken through and started trying to get out of the house. Shiho could see it though, the massive dog thing made of black and white.
They ran about as far as they could, it’s just that Shiho was out of shape, or her soul was? Not important, what is important is that the Hollow caught up with them. It freaking talked to her! It promised to eat her first and then attack her friend and well Shiho couldn’t abide that. She couldn’t actually do anything about it but knowing that it wasn’t going away if she were to give herself up gave her a bit of determination. It amounted to her getting a bite half on her body rather than being swallowed whole, not ideal. Just as she was sure she was done for though the whole thing just exploded into black mist from something going through it. She was a little disoriented but the cause was apparent as soon as he walked up. A sleeveless blond wearing sandals was hard to miss but he didn’t seem visible to the human.
As it happened, getting sent to the soul society by Wycliff was the first time she had met him and the second time she had quickly become obsessed with someone. Shiho retains most of the memories she has from her human life as well. She spent a modicum of time getting used to the spirit world and looking around. It was during this time that she learned about shinigami or more specifically how the Gote 13 worked. She immediately tried to locate them and was turned back as she didn’t know what she was doing. That’s when the Academy was suggested to her as a way to not only see the Shinigami but possibly help people like she had been. This motivated her to do just that.
These days Shiho is working through the Academy at what she hopes is a steady pace. Her sword play could use ‘work’ but thankfully her Reiatsu is strong enough to have her stay in. Learning Kido seems to be coming a lot easier to her. The whole process of shaping the spiritual energy captured her fantasy so there’s a lot she wants to look at in regards to that. The spirit communication class isn’t actually going all that well, she’s pretty sure her Zanpakuto spirit hates her or something. The one and only time she managed to reach out to it she just got a ”Try harder” and immediately shunted back out.
