Alignment: Hiren is Neutral Good. She understands the need for laws to make society go around, but maintains that laws should serve the people, not the other way around, and that the spirit of the law matters far more than the letter.
She has a fervent belief in the value of life and would never want undue harm to come to anyone.
Overall Personality:
When tragedy strikes and people are traumatized, they tend to go one of two ways. Either they lash out, their hurt compelling them to hurt in turn, or they emphasize, wishing that none might experience what they have. Hiren, definitely, is the latter.
Growing up, Hiren was known for her sunny optimism and her firm belief in the good in everyone. Sadly, such notions were burnt from her soul at an early age in an event that resulted in the loss of her Twin sister Karen.
- Optimistic nihilism & Inner struggle/tendency towards gloom.
- Does not like being alone with her thoughts too long, seeks to experience every moment.
- Self-enforced socialite
- Deeply empathetic
- Motherly, doting
- carries the burden of others, never shares her own
- Proud, dignified, martyr-mindset
- judgemental
- vain
- somewhat lonely
- romatic at heart
- has a surprisngly dark and or raunchy sense of humour

-Powers-
Fighting Style:
When it comes to fighting, Hiren knows that avoidance is the best policy, especially since she’s usually on a battlefield to make sure everyone else survives, going down before the battle is over simply goes against her overall goal.
Consequently, Hiren has developed a highly defensive fighting style based on deflection and redirection of blows, disarming the opponent as well as moves used to generate distance between herself and the opponent.
The purpose of the fighting style is to engage in a melee skirmish for the minimum amount of time needed to create an opening to withdraw or reposition to a more favourable position.
To achieve this, Hiren fights with her Zanpakutou close to her body, preferring to fight with the Shikai in a manner similar to that of a bo staff, using her weapon to redirect enemy blows away from her body.
In addition to this, she switches between a Two-Handed redirective stance and a One-Handed stance often, as having a hand free allows her to manoeuvrer her opponent, throw them or even disarm them.
Additionally, Hiren can use the ring shape topping her released Zanpakutou to catch enemy weapons, giving her an additional method of disarming.
Hiren might also employ the “tassles” hanging from her Zanpakutou to ensare opponents, though she rarely does so for any extended period of time, as it limits her own mobility with the weapon.
Adding on top of his weapon usage, Hiren utilizes her footwork and positioning to dodge and tire out, utilizing circular movements to reposition around the opponent to avoid getting hit.
Ultimately, Hiren is adept at avoiding and redirecting, allowing her to face multiple foes at the same time without becoming overwhelmed.
That said, her highly specialized style of combat has a glaring weakness.
It was never invented for actually winning combat and as such has barely any offensive moves barring the odd counterstrike.
Should Hiren find herself in a position where she needs to damage or incapacitate an opponent through force, she typically has to look elsewhere for the means to do so.
Consequently, Hiren makes liberal use of Kidou when the situation arises and though she is skilled with Hadou, her compassionate nature means that she’ll rarely fire directly at targets, preferring to instead influence the environment to her advantage.
Bakudou is another matter, Hiren makes liberal use of both barrier techniques and Sealing techniques, knowing full well, that a fight ended swiftly, is a fight with less chance of injury.
Of course, if Hiren has to engage directly in combat, it means something, somewhere went wrong, Hiren is not meant to fight on the front line, much preferring to gain an overview of the battlefield and achieve victory through outmanoeuvring the opponent.
Hiren maintains that it is important to know the distinction between Strategy and tactics, especially because she vastly prefers the latter.
Hiren is no grand strategist. She is not someone who will have figured out every step the opponent makes before they make them, that kind of planning is simply beyond her.
What she is good at, however, is immediate and effective countermeasures and thinking out the box.
This does make her a very reactive combatant, meaning that while she’s very good at coming up with countermeasures in the now, as a commander, she’s often on the back foot, having to react to whatever is thrown at her.
Luckily, Hiren is possessed by a cooperative spirit, and frankly prefers being the catalyst to her teammates success rather than the one in the limelight.
It can easily be said that Hiren empowers those who fight under her, heightening their successes and minimizing their mistakes… of course, this makes her very reliant on the people she fight alongside, and there are limits to just how far she can elevate others.
Zanpakutou Spirit Appearance(Optional):[/b]
Jihibuka Koushu no Ame used to look much similar to Karen, Hiren’s deceased twin sister, however, upon awakening into Bankai, the spirit took it’s true shape, namely that of an otherworldly, beautiful woman dressed as an Empress, befitting her name.
She wears her hair in a traditional updo, supported by an elegant Jade headpiece, long, flowing robes of Jade and Emerald (junihitoe), trimmed with Teal and Gold.
She appears, always, shaded underneath an Umbrella reminiscent of the Zanpakutou in it’s sealed from, Jade green trimmed with gold.
The sound of rain hitting lacquered paper a sure indicator that she is near.
Inner World(Optional):[/b]
Hiren’s inner world appears as the aftermath of an all-consuming wildfire, ashen plains extending endlessly, with pillars of charcoal reaching silently for the heavens where mighty trees once stood.
Above, the sky is covered in a heavy layer of clouds, glowing golden as if by sunrise, a cold rain falling steadily, soothing and renewing the broken landscape, coating the whole thing in a mixture of Petrichor and the scent of smoke.
If one bothers to dig into the layer of ash, one will be surprised to find that undetneath the image of devastation, new growth is already happening, and will supposedly soon be able to grow abundantly.
Zanpakutou Appearances:
- Sealed: In it’s sealed form, Jihibuka Koushu no Ame is a shikomizue style weapon, however, rather than the blade being hidden in a cane, instead the short, thin, straight blade is hidden inside a traditional Umbrella, lacquered paper style.
The umbrella itself is of the Janome-gasa style, thin and refined, clad in a vivid jade green colour trimmed with gold.
The handle is unadorned but polished wood of a light colour, the seam where the handle meets scabbard invisible to the naked eye.
The blade itself is, as mentioned, short, thin and straight, better for stabbing than slashing and entirely without tsuba to protect the hands. Additionally, due to the personality of wielder and Zanpakutou, the blade itself has a peculiar quality. In most instances, it is remarkably dull, unable to pierce skin without serious effort. This changes, however, if the blade is not used to harm, such as if cutting robe, and if used in an effort to help (such as if performing durgery), the blade is sharp as a razor.
- Shikai: To release her Shikai, Hiren holds out her Zanpakutou upright with one hand, placing the other hand on the umbrella as she calls out to it.
Upon release, the umbrella/scabbard unfolds and ascends into the heavens as if caught by a divine wind, whereupon the scabbard dissipates, transforming the skies above into a vivid vision of heavy roiling clouds, golden as if lit by the dawn.
As the scabbard rises, the Blade and handle glow and extend with it reaching the length of a Bo staff, before the pops out of the scabbard, blooming briefly until the Zanpakutou has been reshaped into a Shakujou.
The head of the staff vaguely resembles a fat drop of water, with each half of it holding four rings, totalling eight.
The outermost ring on each side additionally has a long, thin piece of Emerald Silk attacked to it. These pieces of cloth do not seem to have a set length, adapting instead to their purpose.
- Bankai: To awaken her Bankai Hiren hold her Shakujou furmly with both hands, striking the base against the ground as she steels her determination and recites her promise to follow the path of Compassion no matter what.
As she utters the command, Bankai, the Shakujou lights up and dissipates throughout the heavens, colouring the falling rain the colour of jade.
As it does, it leaves behind the eight rings, and as Hiren spreads her arms skyward, the rings transform into jade rings attaching to her arms, after which long strips of Emerald fabric emerges, fluttering in the wind and her hair is tied up with ribbons.
Activating her Bankai, Hiren sacrifices the weapon used to defend her person for the power to not only alleviate suffering, but to prevent and overcome it.
Zanapkutou Release Names(Include both Shikai and Bankai names, and call out phrases)
Shikai:
- Name: Jihibuka Koushu no Ame (慈悲深公主の雨), Rains of the Merciful Princess.
- Command: Kokoro wo iyasu (Soothe their gentle hearts)
Bankai:
Name: Jihibuka Suigyoku-hi no Ame (慈悲深翠玉妃の雨, Rains of the Merciful Jade Empress)
- Command: Ame ga furou ga yari ga furou ga (Let fall the rain, let fall the spears.. - meaning come hell of high water), to call forth his Bankai, Hiren must focus on her devotion to the path she has chosen, committing, come hell or high water.
Overall Ability:
Compassion is core tenant of Hiren’s personality and the core principle of his life philosophy, so it is no surprise that his Zanpakutou would center around the very same principle and virtue.
As a compassionate blade, Jihibuka Koushu no Ame is rather dull and does not cut easily, rather it emphasizes with the plight of others, no matter how small, and seeks to act to relieve them of said suffering, as the gentle rain soothes the land after the raging fire.
Shikai Overall Ability:
Jihibuka Koushu no Ame is a Zanpakutou of the Elemental Sub-Type specifically keyed to water, and works by alleviating the suffering of others, assimilating ambient spiritual energy and shaping it into rain.
This downpour of reinforced spiritual energy promotes Physical and Spiritual recovery in those Hiren considers allies within the area controlled by the Zanpakutou.
Bankai Overall Ability:
In its Bankai form, Jihibuka Suigyoki-Hi no Ame moves beyond merely alleviating the suffering of others, going so far as to work actively to restore what was lost and prevent suffering from taking root once more.
Baseline, this vastly expands the area controlled by the Zanpakutou and strongly empowers the healing rain within, turning it jade green.
In addition, Jihibuka Suigyoki-Hi no Ame grans Hiren access to advanced techniques meant to prevent or stop suffering altogether.
Zanpakuto Techniques:
Shikai Techniques:
- Meguminoame (Merciful Rain): While Meguminoame is considered a very beautiful technique, it is neither explosive nor is it particularly impressive in the immediate.
Healing rain, works like Kaidou in that it restores Reiatsu first, technically allowing for more rapid expendiature as well.
- Kizuna no Gôu (Bonds of Heavy Rain): Rapid Healing and empowering of a single target through the use of one of the hanging cloths.
Bankai Techniques:
- Kyuusai no Oukyuu (Palace of Salvation):
-
-
- Jihisatsu (Mercy Kill):
There are those tell me, that Jihisatsu surely is my most powerful technique, surely my most powerful. Those people are fools.
When it comes to fighting, a term that is often used is Killing intent, the willingness to inflict harm or even death upon another, and it is generally agreed that those who lack killing intent will be unable to follow through, will be unable to provide adequate opposition, they cannot kill.
Emotion plays a major role in this. Under the hazy veil of anger or hatred, a weak killing intent can blossom up into a raging flame, allowing whoever is fighting to push through, to overcome and to do what must be done. To kill.
There exists, however, another way. When her true form is manifest during Bankai, Jihibuka Suigyoki-hi no Ame mixes boundless compassion with the determination necessary to walk her chosen path. A path that pushes beyond alleviation of suffering, to actively seeking to end it.
Where those who fight with killing intent push forth by othering their opponent, hacking and slashing while decrying them as different, as wrong, as villainous, Jihibuka Suigyoki-hi no Ame, instead, emphasizes.
She sees them for who they are, she sees their suffering, the bitterness of their circumstances, and she understands what pushed them to arrive at this point in time.
By acknowledging their suffering, Jihibuka Suigyoki-hi no Ame pushes forward, not with Killing Intent, but with compassion.
To end their suffering. For good.
How:
To use Jihisatsu, Hiren must understand her opponent. She must acknowledge them as an equal other, she must emphasize with them, and through her compassion push forward and end their suffering.
Jihisatsu is not flashy, nor is it terrible or violent, rather, it is gentle, painless and calm.
As the rain falls on the battlefield, Hiren focuses her attention on a single droplet, envisioning it's trajectory and nudging it to hit an opponent. Within this droplet, Hiren bundles her Reiatsu and determination using it as a medium to deliver a subtle but potent salve.
What:
Once the droplet makes contact with an enemy, the salve takes effect immediately and painlessly, assimilating the opponents reiatsu, stilling and dissipating it gently in a surprisingly swift process.
Once hit, the opponent will feel a general sense of peace overcome them, subtle at first, but spreading like a soothing warmth throughout their being, making them feel calm and at ease.
As the effect spreads, their mind will get foggy as they gradually fall asleep, passing peacefully as their very being becomes one with the universe once again.
Drawbacks:
There are several drawbacks to a technique such as Jihisatsu, and Hiren wouldn't want it any other way, for it is not a technique one should ever use easily or with a light heart.
First and foremost the technique functions on compassion, and consequently, if Hiren cannot emphasize with her opponent, if she cannot acknowledge or fathom their suffering, or if they have none, the Technique cannot work. Without the genuine desire to end the opponents suffering Jihisatsu is just another raindrop among many.
Secondly, Jihisatsu always falls from above (unless wacky gravity is in play), and though a sufficiently powerful Jihisatsu can bypass some barriers, if there is not direct line of effect heavensward, then Jihisatsu is likely to be intercepted.
Likewise, it is not any faster than any other raindrop, making it easy to dodge if one is aware of which droplet to avoid.
Lastly, Jihisatsu is at some level a contest of wills. While the technique is meant to kill, those who become aware that they're affected and who desire to resist, can do so, lessening or even nullifying the effect. There needs to be a seed of surrender for Jihisatsu to nourish somewhere, and those with an overwhelming will to live are barren ground.
