It was very quite sitting in his own official office, Shawn was honestly surprised if anything to even be in this position so fast. After the battle against that higher ranking Hellion, and subsequently the invasion prior to that. He was essentially thrown the option to take the squad 13's Vice Captain position, which after taking a few days of thought he accepted. Realizing that his hopes to be on the front line defending the Seireitei or even leading an attack on one of the Soul Societies many enemies, he realized squad 13 would allow him to do both. In fact he is no able to finish Ludwig's original goal of scoping out the rest of the Dongai for many purposes.
Shawn sat there at his desk with his Zanpakuto laying on top of the desktop. Placing his hand on the sword he focused on entering his inner world to converse with his Zanpakuto's spirit. Given there was no Captain over squad 13 he figured now was the best time to train for unlocking Bankai, sure that wasn't going to be an easy process but that doesn't mean he couldn't. Not to long later he found himself standing on the field of flowers, thus signaling he succeeded in traversing to his inner world.
Looking around Shawn searched for Kami no Te, going over any possible place the spirit could be laying down and resting. After about 20 minutes he found him, laying down among the fields of dandelions. Walking up to Kami no Te he begins speaking, "It's time, I know Shikai was kind of thrusted onto me but I'm ready to start learning how to unlock Bankai." Looking up at Shawn the spirit responds softly, "Ok, but it won't be easy considering the circumstances of how you gained Shikai, the main focus will be reigning in on your emotions. No this doesn't mean you have to be emotionless, but in order to wield me and my Bankai form you must have the ability to control your reactions."
This was difficult for Shawn, as up until know he's been running on nothing but emotions. In fact he wasn't sure if he was capable of not reacting based on his emotions. So the Shinigami sat down next to his Zan spirit, crossing his legs. "Ok, how do we go about this then?" Almost gliding to his feet with little to no effort, Kami no Te turns to face Shawn. "The easiest way to do so is by putting you in situations where your emotions are peaking. To begin I want you to calmly assess what I'll be doing, before reacting in turn to stop me." It would be at this point the Spirit would vanish, only to appear moments latter behind Shawn with a wooden kendo sword which comes down with a decent whack on his head. This would continue for 10 minutes straight, all the while Shawn keeps turning around angrily swinging to knock the wooden sword away from hitting him. Suffice it to say this is never successful considering Kami no Te doesn't always appear behind him.
