I hope this trial application finds success. Thanks for your consideration!
Name:
Peishin Louh.
Race:
Shinigami.
Age:
Eighty-nine (in soul society).
Type:
Recent graduate of the shinoreijutsuin.
Affiliation and Rank:
Fourth division, unseated.
Appearance:
Peishin is six feet tall, skinny, and untidy. His black hair hangs to his middle back, and his stubble is rough and dark. His eyes are grey-blue. The asauchi he carries is the shape and length of a standard katana, but the sheath has darkened to a purple-black which mimics the white-black of a standard hamon. Caught off-guard, Peishin appears tired, or perhaps sad, but when greeting a friend his eyes and face light up. When greeting someone he disapproves of his eyes turn cold, his mouth flattens into a stern almost-grimace. He will commonly be seen with a near-expired cigarette butt somewhere on his person.
Personality:
Peishin is a man of contradictions. Slow to trust others, but a steadfast friend once his initial hesitation is overcome. Quick to share his passions but slow to give his opinions. Full of thoughts and feelings he will not share unless invited to, but ready to speak out of turn if his sensibilities are offended, even to those far above his social station. An ardent study, but shy of showing his capabilities. A sensitive man who will not hesitate to take the brunt of an assault for another, all the while maintaining that he's fine, that he can carry on, that they shouldn't worry about him.
His best friend is Kanisawa Ginko, who he calls "Gecko".
And he does not like his name being mis-pronounced. It's "Loh-Uh", not "Lou".
Fighting style:
Peishin does his best to blend zanjutsu, hakuda, hoho, and kido together into a well-balanced fighting style, but he seems to be naturally poorer at executing kido than the other disciplines. This seems to apply only when in a high-tension situation, such as battle, as his healing capabilities and spells are highly regarded when at ease.
He does not like to initiate a fight, but will end it efficiently if forced to.
Powers:
Kaido up to level 14 without incantation, up to level 22 with incantation.
Hado up to level 8 without incantation, 12 with incantation.
Bakudo up to level 10 without incantation, 14 with incantation.
History:
Peishin spent his years working as a coolie, constantly moving from family to family and from district to district in the rukongai. Often he left with no goodbye other than a small purse as thanks for the hospitality of his hosts. One family he stayed with was that of Kanisawa Suzu, the father of the girl who stole his heart. He left her family with smouldering rubble for a home and their daughter's life hanging in the balance. Leaving broke his heart and caused the two of them to enter the shinoreijutsuin within days of each other, though neither was aware of this at the time.
They reconnected, fought, and reconciled through their academy training.
