Name: Insect Rust (虫さび)
Description: This 32 inch falchion, serves as Arcadus’s reminder to those who challenge his position in the Espada, or in his own endeavors. Seemingly forged from chitin, this blades’s white and porous surface gives it the look of being made of bone. It drips a black liquid when held, tinging the material grey, and this liquid sizzles when it hits the ground. The hirigana for Insect Rust (虫さび) are engraved on it’s flat. It’s grip seems to end in a molded hip joint.
Class: Class 1
Item Type: Offensive
Item Power (IP): 1100
Offense Type: Physical and Spiritual
Durability: 2200
Bonuses: This swords’s liquid, is in fact a powerful hemo toxin that is meant to mimic the dangerous and venomous abilities of a previous’s Espada. This venom, when it enters a target through an injury or through dripping into an open wound or exposed area, like an eye or mouth, begins the stages of infection.
The level of infection is determined by the target’s poison resist skill, being ineffective against poison resist 3, light infection against poison resist 2, moderate moderate from poison resist 1, and severe infection from a target with no poison resist. The blade requires a charge of reiatsu to produce enough toxin to be used effectively, and to properly charge it, the user must pay 100 reiatsu. When charged, the black ichor begins to stream off of the blade. High Speed Regeneration can double the posts or hits needed to progress to the next stage. This effect can of course be healed with sufficient HE to treat poisons and the appropriate medical conditions. The use may pay 100 rieatsu to instead end this condition, or, this condition may be ended through cauterization of the infected area (increasing in size with progressing stages.) or a purging of one's blood.
Light Infection: The wound displays copper and green discoloration, as if a copper statue is rusting, and the blood from the wound is unusually dark. A searing, burning feeling permeates the wound, as the hemotoxin begins to attack the flesh. High Speed regeneration slows, as it works to counteract this effect, causing other wounds to heal slowly. Light infection progresses to medium infection if either 4 posts pass, or 4 doses of the toxin are delivered, or some combination of the two. The victim may pay 100 reiatsu to suppress the effects of this level of infection, though it does not halt progression. The use may pay 200 rieatsu to instead end this condition
Moderate Infection: the wound has begun to rot, a putrid stench bubbling out of it. The blood it self has begun to rust, turning a person’s blood orange or yellow making it incredibly painful, but as well, incredibly difficult to circulate oxygen, causing the person’s cells to begin dying from a rapid onset anemia. The victim finds themselves feeling weak, as their heart works harder to pump less effective blood to dying muscles and organs. Lightheadedness, exhaustion, and general weakness pervade the victim, and their ability to use techniques that require large amounts of stamina (mechanically if stamina cost is listed as a drawback) is compromised, costing double the needed stamina to utilize these techniques. One can suppress these effects for 200 reiatsu a post to stave off these effects. As with the last stage, to progress to the severw stage, either 4 posts must pass at moderate infection or 4 hits of the venom, or a combination of the two. The use may pay 400 rieatsu to instead end this condition
Severe Infection: The wound has reached a critical stage, and without immediate medical care, the victim will die. If after 4 posts of severe infection the perosn is not healed or the poison is purged, they will die. As the anemia becomes terminal, a person’s organs are starved of oxygen and begin to shut down, as their body drowns on dry land, with no oxygen in the system, the body suffers, and everything begins to shut down. At the end of 4 posts, or 4 hits of poison from this weapon, the person dies. To suppress the effects of this, the user pays 400 rieatsu, but still dies at the end of progression. The target may pay 800 rieatsu to instead end this condition
