Ashland had skipped school for today. He would be punished for it again later but their focus seemed so politically focused. He didn't give a damn about politics or the hierarchy beyond the fact that captains and vice captains held the kind of power he wanted. At this point if he confronted a hollow he would die...the only reason he survived before was because of a Shiningami.... one who lost his career because of Ashlands foolish charge. Because Ashland wanted to fight and couldn't. He had grown lax for a time during recovery. Studying Kido with the man who had saved him and making a connection to a member of squad three. However he had a run in with a man named Kaen just recently. Spending time with squad four afterwards as his body was so weak...the initial blows had left heavy bruises. He understood he was slow. He understood he lacked power and experience. So he needed to improve his body and skill. He needed to increase his spirit as well. Both its potency and volume as even his Kido was weak. His spiritual pressure and Reiatsu were weak. In Summary every part of Ash was weak. And he hated it.
So Ash was out behind the academy grounds. There wasn't any combat training scheduled in the yard today so he had it to himself. Or so he thought. Taking a deep breath Ash would begin his visualization training. Picturing Kaen preparing to come at him again. The man had used martial arts. Allowing Ash to use his sword not that it did him any good. He would launch into a series of swings. They were broad for now but he was working on tightening it up. He was wearing his black pants with the blue and white academy colors for his top. Utilizing a Zanpakto with a blue ribbon flowing from the base of the grip. The blue ribbon no longer than a bookmark but wrapping around his hand. Almost lovingly as it seemed to try and bond itself to him. To hold on and encourage Ash to try harder. After all it enjoyed being utilized. Ashlands long black hair was tied back in a ponytail today with his black eye patch covering his right eye. A small scar lined his nose under his eyes and his lip from the one hollow he met but losing an eye was the worst of it. His remaining golden eye shined with determination.
All in all it was just visualization training. He had to be careful not to limit Kaens moves too much in his mind...not to allow himself to win his mental battle easily. Though in doing so he was finding he wasn't winning at all. It was frustrating that even the man in his mind was too strong for him. Ash would grit his teeth as he spun back and turned the spin into a thrusting stab. Practicing the sword alone as the midday clouds gathered above. It made the day darker just from the overcast but he didn't mind. He could always smell when it was about to rain and it wasn't there yet. But it may be enough to keep other students from interrupting his time out here. Or instructors from catching him. However no matter how hard he pushed he couldn't hit Kaen. Not once. In his mind Kaen was too far beyond him and thus he could not win. So after about thirty minutes of that Ash was breathing heavily with sweat dripping off his chin. His golden eye still shining but his chest heaving for air with gritted teeth. How did one get stronger?!
