Name: Yui Tsumugi
Real Age/Age of Appearance: 21/18
Birthday: November 3rd
Blood Type: B+✚ APPEARANCE ✚
Height: 5'6"/167 cm.
Weight: 115 lbs./52.2 kg.
Eye Color: Pastel Purple
Hair Color: Pastel Pink{Faceclaim: Takara Miyuki - Lucky Star (Click Here)}
Physical Appearance:
Simply put, Yui is a woman of gentle beauty. Standing at a fairly short 5'6", and weighing in at 115 pounds, Yui is the type of woman that someone can look at and immediately get the idea that she's a rather soft individual; a statement that is by no means incorrect. Just one glance at the girl will generally queue someone in on her rather sweet, almost innocent demeanor.
Starting with the girl's face, Yui's eyes are incredibly doelike, making themselves quite prominent at a first glance of the girl. Purple in color, her eyes rest neatly behind a pair of silver round-lens glasses. Most of the time these glasses will be on the girl's face, unless under more extreme circumstances. Occasionally, they might be tucked neatly into the collar of her top, but more often than not they'll be on her face. After all, she does need them to see.
Moving on to Yui's hair, it's actually quite well-kept when compared to what one might otherwise expect from the girl. Yui's hair is light pink in color, dyed to her liking since she found herself residing in the human world. As one can expect, her eyebrows maintain a different color, and sit neatly above her eyes as thin brown lines. Even toward the top of her head, very faint traces of her brown roots can be seen showing through the pink.
Making our way down, Yui's form is fairly what one would expect from a bit of a younger girl. Her form is somewhat filled out as one would expect, though even despite this fact she still doesn't quite have any noteworthy feminine assets. While certainly not without any whatsoever, she's far from noteworthy for any of these aspects, and likely won't be drawing any attention to herself for reasons such as these.
When it comes to clothes that Yui might be found wearing, it's incredibly safe to say that her appearance is going to change based on the day. She's not exactly the type to wear the same outfit again until quite a bit of time has passed, so she'll generally be looking to change it up quite a bit based on the time of day, the weather, the season, or hell even just her personal desires for the day. Her wardrobe is one of the few things she'll actively seek to change as much as she can, as she enjoys the variability.
On hotter days, Yui is very much the type to dress as light as she possibly can. More often than not, this will likely result in a light t-shirt (more often than not something pink, given it's a light color to help with the heat, and simply for it being her favorite color), thin jeans or a shorter skirt of some kind, low-resting socks, and a simple pair of slip-ons or Mary Janes, depending on her mood for the day.
On colder days, the girl is by no means opposed to bundling up as necessary. More often than not she'll be wearing a scarf, matched with a heavier cardigan, either a thicker pair of tights or tall socks, a similar pair of jeans or skirt as mentioned previously, and more often than not a pair of sneakers. Given colder days more often than not mean worse weather, sneakers are generally just a better pick.
While spending time at home, or simply looking to dress incredibly casually, Yui's much more likely to find herself in a tank-top and a pair of shorts. Though, while certainly more loungewear than something she'd go out in public wearing, if she finds herself too lazy to get changed in order to do so, she's got no problem leaving her home in an outfit like this.
Speaking of laziness, Yui is a huge practitioner of making quick trips to public places in her pajamas. Especially if she needs something from a local shop early in the morning or late at night (provided they're still open), she's got absolutely no problem leaving her place in a pair of lounge pants and an old, comfy t-shirt. For her, that's one hell of a vibe.
When it comes to her Zanpakuto, Yui tends to not leave her place without it if she can help it. Though, given laws in Japan, she's not exactly permitted to openly carry the weapon. As such, she keeps the weapon properly wrapped. Wraps she uses are nothing more than tightly-placed linen cloth, as to ensure that it can't be publicly wielded. Such a cloth isn't hard to remove with the quick use of Kido, however.✚ PERSONALITY ✚
Alignment: Neutral Good
Likes:
✚ Reading - Yui is in love with the written word. More than anything else, the girl tends to spend her free-time reading as much as she can. There isn't really a particular genre that she finds herself enjoying more than others, aside from perhaps doujinshi/fan-fiction, though there are a few she's not exactly fond of. Aside from Sci-Fi, Yui will read pretty much anything!
✚ Writing - Similarly to her reading habits, Yui tends to enjoy writing almost as much as she does reading. While not quite proud of the works she's written thus far, she's constantly looking to get better as best she can! Similarly to her reading habits, the girl tends to write quite a bit of fan-fiction, but avoids writing Sci-Fi like the plague.
✚ The Human World - Gas Station Slushies.
✚ Iaido - Given how she carries her Zanpakuto on her person, Yui has quickly found herself taking Iaido courses during her free time. And surprisingly? She fell in love with them! While not only helping the girl in a combative scenario, her Iaido courses have since helped her keep calm, relying on those teachings as she's seen fit.
✚ Zanpakuto Releases - The girl finds herself absolutely fascinated with Zanpakuto, and with the various release abilities that those around her possess. Seeing as they're an extension of one's soul, she tends to find the fact that they're so personalized toward someone quite interesting, and just generally appealing. Taking the time to learn more about others and their release abilities is something that she tends to find herself doing somewhat constantly.
✚ Fashion - This practically goes without saying. The girl absolutely loves to dress up, no matter the occasion! It could be just a simple outing of some kind with a few friends, it doesn't matter. Provided she wants to look good for that outing, you'd be damn sure that she'll do what she can to look good.
✚ Video Games - Another one of Yui's hobbies. While not too big on a number of the games out at the moment, Yui likes to use the games she's got access to as an escape where she can. It doesn't really matter the genre; more often than not, she'll find herself hooked in a matter of time. Her biggest vice, however, would be the number of gacha games currently on both her phone and computer. She's got a bit of a problem.
✚ Kido - Yui actually really enjoys casting Kido. If she had the mental capacity to do so, she’d absolutely take the time to learn any and every spell out there! Unfortunately this is easier said than done, so it’s a dream that she’s going to have to wait on. Regardless though, she still enjoys the concept and casting of these spells.
✚ Hollows - Call it a morbid fascination of sorts (especially after she finds out she's got one living in her soul), but Yui really likes the idea of hollows. While she won't go out of her way to hunt 'em down, she's got no qualms with fighting them as it means she can learn more about them. She understands the importance of the Soul Cycle, and will certainly work to purify them, but won't do anything reckless in that regard.
✚ Sleep - Almost above all else, Yui absolutely adores the time she can spend sleeping. More often than not, when someone talks with her, they'll find very quickly that she's usually in a pseudo-sleepy state of being. While not quite a bad thing for her, it's more so just something to make note of when interacting with the girl. Any excuse she can take in order to sleep, she probably will.
Dislikes:
✚ Negativity - Certainly a bit odd for a list of dislikes, but Yui herself isn't particularly fond of negativity as a whole. She's someone that very much feeds off of the energy of others, and as such? Those that are more negative than she'd otherwise would like do nothing more than bring her down. She's not for it.
✚ The Gotei 13 - This can't come as a surprise, given she's an Asauchi thief. Yui is very much against all that the Gotei 13 stand for. She thinks they've got the right idea in mind, looking to keep the Soul Cycle moving healthily, but she doesn't like the idea of a militaristic organization that isn't above wiping out half the Rukongai when one side of the scale tips a little too far.
✚ Central 46 - The folks that more or less enable it all. Once again, this can't come as a surprise given her previous dislike. To say Yui resents the Central 46 would be a horrendous understatement. While she's not the type to want to physically fight back against them, she's by no means afraid to voice her opinion on the matter.
✚ Mortal Combat - While also not a fan of the fighting game, Yui doesn't like fighting when her own life could be on the line. She's fairly content with combat in general, but won't go out of her way to risk her life like that if she doesn't have to. That isn't to say she's the type to back down from a fight, but more that she isn't the type to recklessly throw her life on the line.
✚ Quincies - The girl doesn't have a particularly good taste toward Quincy. It isn't out of virtue of their existence, it's more due to their place in actively tearing apart the Soul Cycle. Given her previously-stated stance on the concept of the Soul Cycle, she feels that Quincies only work to hinder that balance.
✚ Constant Reminders - Quite possibly Yui's biggest pet peeve. She's very much the type of person to try to get things done at her own pace, when she feels she's ready to do so. If someone constantly badgers her to get something done, she's very much not going to do so, if simply out of spite toward those individuals. For everyone's sake, please; don't try it.
✚ Violent Folks - There's something quite off-putting to her about nonchalant comments about needless violence. Simply put, it makes the girl incredibly uncomfortable. She can't quite explain why (though, doesn't feel that such feelings toward violence are unreasonable), but talks about murder and death make her quite uneasy.
✚ Capitalism - Yui hates the idea of the free market, for numerous reasons. For one, consumers aren't usually protected, despite what some might say. Second, there's just too much choice! While certainly something she appreciates from time to time, worrying about just how much money she needs to spend and when in order to cover bills is... frustrating.
✚ Being Interrupted - She'll be the first to admit it; Yui isn't the fastest of speakers. She also tends to pause quite a bit in between her thoughts. And, when she does, she doesn't like finding herself interrupted. While she won't go out of her way to comment on the matter, or to try to speak over folks, she'll make no effort to try to hide her opinions on the matter.
✚ Caffeine - As previously stated, Yui loves sleep. If she's someone that values the time she can spend resting, why on earth would she consume caffeine? It seems incredibly counterintuitive, all things considered. If she wanted to stay awake, she'd go for a jog or something in order to wake herself up. At that point, falling asleep soon after wouldn't even be all that difficult, unlike if she were to have a cup of coffee.
Habits:
✚ Yawning - Yui tends to find herself yawning quite a bit in almost every situation. As a girl that deals with perpetual drowsiness, yawning like this is mostly just par for the course. She's not particularly fond of it, but at the same time, what is she going to do to fix it?
✚ Comparisons - For her own comprehension, Yui finds herself drawing comparisons to just about anything and everything she can. She doesn't mean it maliciously, but will generally make comments like "oh, this is close to XYZ" just to help herself understand a situation, or something important that she really should be comprehending.
✚ Snapping - Without any real explanation behind it, Yui tends to find herself snapping her fingers quite often. There could be absolutely no reason for it, and she'll just snap her fingers while minding her own business. This really starts to show, however, when she gets nervous. In high-intensity situations, this is generally a really good sign that Yui's starting to find herself stressed.
✚ Cleaning Her Glasses - Even if she doesn't have any particular reason to be doing so, much like the habit above, Yui's quite likely to be found quickly wiping the lenses of her glasses when she can. Unlike the habit above this doesn't directly relate to her nervousness or stress levels, more so it's just something she'll do from time to time as if on impulse.
✚ Pop Culture References - While speaking with others, Yui's very much the type to unintentionally weave pop culture references, video game quotes, song lyrics, or what have you into her words. She doesn't quite understand why she does so, and will occasionally do so unprovoked, but doesn't really try to stop. More often than not she'll just kind of go about her day regardless.
✚ Sitting Awkwardly - Simply put, Yui doesn't usually sit properly in chairs. While she certainly can, and will make an effort to do so when in social situations, while she's got the opportunity to relax she won't sit "properly". More often than not, she'll cross her legs, keep both legs on the chair while she sits, or even throw herself over the arm of a chair if it feels more comfortable for her to be sitting like that.
Flaws:
✚ Asocial - Yui's got a limited battery for social interaction with others. A battery that finds itself quite short most of the time. While out in public, it's not uncommon for the girl to excuse herself to either take a moment to recuperate from being around a large number of people, or to simply just leave the situation entirely. More often than not, the latter.
✚ Quiet - The girl is a very soft-spoken individual. More often than not, she's going to find herself speaking somewhat quietly when around others. Her reasons behind this are due to not wanting to talk over others, and just a general distaste in regards to raising her voice. If someone asks her to speak up, she probably will, otherwise she's going to stay quiet.
✚ Picking Up On Social Queues - Yui struggles immensely when it comes to understanding social queues. Unless someone spells something out for her, or otherwise makes their intentions/meanings rather apparent, she's likely not going to pick up on it. As such, reading between the lines in most circumstances is incredibly difficult for her to do.
✚ Sarcasm - Similarly to the one above, Yui struggles to comprehend sarcasm. More often than not, she's going to interpret everything said at face-value. With particularly sarcastic individuals, this could very well result in hurt feelings somewhere. She tries to get better with this, but normally to no real avail.
✚ Distracted Easily - The girl has no ability to keep focused on more than one topic at a time. On that same note, something new that appears in front of her is very likely to draw her attention and focus. It shouldn't be too difficult to see how this can prove to be an incredible problem at times for the poor girl.
Fears:
✚ Loud Noises - Absolutely petrified of thunder, shouting, and fireworks to name a few, Yui very much detests loud, especially spontaneous noises. It doesn't really matter the source, Yui will immediately enter a state of fight or flight when met with these kinds of noises. There are a few exceptions here, but all-in-all she really does not like them.
✚ Angry People - As very briefly touched upon, folks that tend to get angry put Yui into a state of panic when it happens around her; especially if targeted toward her. As stated before, she thrives off of the energy of others; if someone is going to get angry around her, she doesn't really know how to deal with all that negative emotion and tends to break down more often than not.
✚ Outer Space - Despite being a spiritual entity of potentially great power down the line, outer space freaks Yui out for one simple reason; she's scared of what might be out there. Aliens are horrifying. It's one of the big reasons why she doesn't like Sci-Fi. The idea that there might be some supremely intelligent being out there, looking to wipe out the planet... No thank you.
✚ Yuki - Yui's Inner Hollow. The deceptive level of calm that he perpetually stays in horrifies Yui to absolutely no end. Given she's not great at reading peoples' emotions anyway, the fact that she can do so even less with Yuki perpetually unsettles the poor girl. While she wants to get along with him, part of her feels like that's not something she could ever really do.
✚ The Gotei 13 - This one is fairly simple to describe. Yui feels like her petty thievery back from her time after the Academy is going to catch up with her. She that she'll eventually be caught, and potentially put to death for her actions. Even just the thought of that is enough to fill her with dread.
Goals:
✚ Getting Stronger - First and foremost, Yui has a desire to get stronger. Now residing in the Human World, Yui seeks to only further better herself as much as she can. Linking in with her fear of the Gotei, she doesn't want to find herself caught off-guard if she can help it. Instead, she looks to only better herself as much as she can to prevent a day like that from coming around.
✚ Becoming A Novelist - The girl's biggest dream is to end up as a successful, published author. Not due to some monetary gain, though; Yui simply desires to share her works with the world. Given her own reading habits have helped her through some tough times, she hopes to help others in the same way, and potentially inspire others that wish to write to do so as well.
✚ Education - Given her own untimely demise resulted in her inability to even finish high-school, Yui wants nothing more than to get a GED, and attend university. She very much likes the idea of being educated, and will do everything in her power to try to make sure she succeeds in that aspect of her life; death be damned.
✚ Uphold the Soul Cycle - While she might be at odds with the Gotei 13 from a more personal standpoint that isn't to say that Yui doesn't agree with some of the things that the Gotei is capable of accomplishing. It's one of the main reasons she keeps her Zanpakuto in such pristine condition; if she's able to maintain the integrity of the Soul Cycle, then she's happy.
✚ Always Having Time To Relax - Another big one for the girl. More than anything, Yui enjoys the time she can take to relax comfortably. If something were to take that away from her, she'd do absolutely everything in her power to make that possible once again, no questions asked. Doesn't matter the lengths she'd have to go through in order to do so.
Overall Personality:
As one can probably tell, Yui is a gentle spirit. She's not the type to go out of her way to upset folks; quite the opposite, in fact. She's the type of girl to do everything she can in order to keep folks around her happy, healthy, and calm. So long as her friends are doing all right, then she'll be in the same position. If they're not, you'd better believe she'll jump on making sure they are in time.
Most of the time, Yui is going to maintain a fairly peaceful attitude above all else. She's not the type to get outwardly upset most of the time, and will generally remain as calm as she can personally allow herself to be. There are certainly a few things that might upset that balance (more on that a little later), but for the most part? She's a fairly nice person to talk to, interact with, and just generally be friends with.
When it comes to getting on Yui's good side, this is an incredibly easy process. Simply put, just don't fight with her. If someone is able to maintain a level of calm around her, much like she does around most everyone else, then there's a very good chance that person will find themselves automatically on her good side more often than not. It's really not all that hard to accomplish.
Similarly, staying on Yui's good side is also an incredibly easy thing to maintain. All she really asks at that point is a basic level of respect for her, and those around her. She doesn't feel that's too much of an ask, all things considered. One-off rude comments will likely be forgiven by the girl in time, but consistently treating others like that is a surefire way to end up on her "ignore" list.
Getting on Yui's bad side, interestingly enough, isn't all the most difficult thing to accomplish either. All it takes is someone excessively loud, someone trying to pick a fight with the girl, or someone that feels the need to make themselves seem more important than her. Any of the above will generally result in a level of dislike from Yui herself. While it's not impossible to leave her bad side like that, it's not exactly a walk in the park, either.
Maintaining Yui's bad side is just as easy as it is to get on there in the first place. If those behaviors keep up, so will her disposition over that individual. However, leaving her bad side is where things start to get a bit challenging. Being deceptively simple, leaving Yui's bad side requires her to be willing to forgive someone. While not impossible, gaining the girl's forgiveness certainly not an easy thing to do. While this will vary from person to person, this generally means a heartfelt apology, and some other representation of self-reflection.
Moving on from her bad side, Yui has a handful of pet peeves that tend to drive the poor girl up a wall. Firstly, we've got people that feel the need to talk over her. She hates this. While she won't outwardly comment on the fact unless it gets out of hand, Yui hates folks that feel the need to go out of their way in order to get a point across like that. Next, would be those that use far too much sarcasm. As previously stated, she's got trouble picking up on sarcasm, so this drives her up a wall.
While on the topic of personality quirks, Yui's got quite a handful of them! For one, her snapping. Without any rhyme or reason behind doing so, the girl will snap practically wherever she is, for whatever reason imaginable. The same goes for her glasses; more often than not if she's got the opportunity to quickly rub them clean, she's going to take the time in order to do so.
Moving on to relationships and other romantics, Yui is in a sort of interesting place with this. While not inherently opposed to entering a relationship, she's very much the type to avoid actively seeking those things out. Given her lack of sociability, she'd much rather just spend time in her pajamas at home, binge-watching a show than trying to find someone like that. Though, if someone wanted to join her? She wouldn't exactly be the type to say no, either. She's just not going to initiate.
All-in-all, Yui is a gentle, carefree type of girl that lives for herself most of the time, with heavy emphasis on keeping other people okay too. While certainly desiring to keep herself in a positive state above all else, she'd absolutely go out of the way for those she cares about, and will do so on multiple occasions should she need to. She cares deeply about those in her life, and would do most anything for them.✚ COMBAT ✚
Fighting Style:
Yui's fighting style can very easily be summed up through the word "tricky". Above all else, the girl relies heavily on non-direct combat tactics, setting traps in order to catch her foes off-guard, and generally keeping herself out of harms way in order to stave off potential foes. Being someone that doesn't particularly enjoy fighting, Yui is very much the type of girl to do everything in her power in order to stay safe above all else in combat.
Starting with the girl's non-release options, Yui tends to focus quite notably on the various applications of all of the different Kido she might eventually take. While no specific ones are worth mentioning at present, the girl's aptitude toward the magical arts definitely shows if she's got no reason to release her Zanpakuto. Simply put, she'll play keep-away as much as she can reasonably afford to.
While having the advantage like this, Yui is going to focus on playing it safe. More than anything else, she'd rather stay safe and end a conflict, as opposed to fighting like hell in order to beat an opponent down. Truth be told, that's just not the girl's style. She doesn't very much care for the senseless violence, and that tends to show quite readily in her combative approaches.
While at the disadvantage, Yui is very likely to consider retreating to live, and hopefully not have to fight another day. If she has no need to do so, Yui isn't going to continue to fight if she realizes that she's in a losing position. She'd much rather cut her losses, and simply get away from the combat scenario if the option to do so presents itself. Assuming that option isn't there, though, she may just release.
Pressing Yui to release is a fairly difficult thing to do, all things considered. This isn't because of some level of self-confidence, or it being a show of power or anything; it's simply because of the fact that the girl does not like to fight. She's not going to put herself in a situation that would only drive an opponent to want to continue to harm her. Releasing for Yui means that there's some sort of life-or-death scenario currently going on, or that she can't solve the situation without the use of mild violence.
Thankfully, the idea of mild violence is exactly what her Shikai enables. Kōri no Ito as a release is focused very heavily around the idea of keeping violence itself to a minimum, and restraining a foe before things get too out of hand. Through the use of both threads and ice, Kōri no Ito works to debilitate a foe with as little blood drawn as she can.
While in pressing the advantage in Shikai, Yui is going to do everything in her power in order to try to keep up her attacks and rhythms. More than anything else, she's going to use her abilities to pin down her foes - sometimes literally - in order to debilitate and pacify her foes. The goal ultimately isn't to kill; it's to avoid any unnecessary bloodshed as best she can.
At the disadvantage with Shikai, Yui is going to take the time in order to properly assess the situation before making any decisions on the matter. Above all else, she'll contemplate whether or not continued fighting is the right way to go. If she deems that continued fighting isn't worth it, then she's simply not going to continue. She'll back off, seal her Zanpakuto, and walk away. If things need to be kicked up a notch, however, Bankai is absolutely an option that she's going to potentially resort to.
On the topic of Bankai, Yui isn't the type to enjoy using hers very often. It's fairly destructive, it's a lot to handle, and it's not inherently ally-safe. While there are ways to make it ally-safe, that doesn't change the aforementioned problems with it. If she's given the option, unless she absolutely, no questions asked needs to take a life, she's not going to utilize her Bankai. If that does come around though, and taking a life is a necessity, she'll release.
In Bankai, Yui's fighting style grows much more aggressive than ever before. Similarly to how she fought before releasing Shikai, Yui is going to focus on ranged attacks more than anything, trying to hammer an opponent down with furious, raging winds of ice and razor-sharp threading. Above all else, Yui will generally find herself in a state of anger if Bankai is activated.
While holding an advantage, Yui's going to focus toward winning the fight. Generally speaking this is around the point where she'll give into Yuki's influence, and try to go for the kill. After all, if she's pushed this far? There's really only one place to go after that, and it's yet another place that she's not fond of resorting to if she can help it.
At the disadvantage, Yui is very much going to focus on trying to take that lead in a fight if she's able to. At this point, she's in it to win it. If she's got to use some dirty tactics to do so? So be it. If she's got to don her mask at that point? So be it. If she's got to give in to Yuki's whisperings, and let him take control at that point? Well, you guessed it; So be it.
Zanpakuto Name & Callouts: 氷の糸 - Kōri no Ito (lit. Threads of Ice) / 完全に凍った氷の糸 - Kanzen ni Kōtta Kōri no Ito (lit. Completely Frozen Threads of Ice)
"Weave, Kōri no Ito~" / "Encapsulate the world in frozen beauty, Kanzen ni Kotta Kori no Ito~"
Zanpakuto Appearances:
Starting with Kōri no Ito's saya, its appearance varies rather notably from a standard Zanpakuto; instead of being plain, the scabbard is decorated with a blotchy, snowlike pattern across the entire surface, almost as though someone might be looking to the sky in the middle of a blizzard. Underneath these white flakes of snow, the saya is black as the night sky. Toward the top, a black and white plaid sageo is tied neatly. As one can expect, there is a slight amount of curvature to the saya itself.
Moving on to Kōri no Ito's actual sealed appearance, she takes the shape of what one would expect from a Shinigami; that of a rather simplistic uchigatana, remaining relatively "standard" in size. Kōri no Ito's ito wrap holds a rather spectacular white hue, kept in pristine condition at all times. The same underneath these wrappings holds an inverse, deep black coloration. Similarly to her ito, Kōri no Ito's same is kept in the best possible condition that Yui can. Moving up toward the tsuba, Kōri no Ito's guard is designed as a four-pointed star, with intricate detailing in order to give it the appearance of a snowflake when looking straight on.
Kōri no Ito's blade isn't much to write home about. The weapon comes to a fine point toward the end as one might expect, and maintains a silver shine. A thin groove runs along the entirety of the blade, serving as one would expect from a standard uchigatana.
Kōri no Ito's Shikai state is one of two major changes for the weapon. Instead of a katana, releasing Kōri no Ito changes the weapon's shape into that of an incredibly large sewing needle. From bottom of the grip to the very point of the sword, Kōri no Ito is about three and a half feet in length. On the bottom of the weapon's grip, an eye makes itself prominent, serving much like one would expect from a sewing needle. From this eye, Yui can either make use of her own Shikai abilities, or techniques similar to Air Strings in order to sew mid-fight as she sees fit.
Awakened as Kanzen ni Kōtta Kōri no Ito in Bankai, the weapon once again undergoes a rather noteworthy change. instead of appearing as a singular weapon, Kanzen ni Kōtta Kōri no Ito appears as a pair of tessen. These war fans hold a golden coloration, with a sharpened edge along both the curved head, and on each end of the fans themselves. Across both faces of these fans, the kanji "凍える程に激しい" is displayed, meaning "so violently, it freezes."
Though, when Bankai is brought out, Kōri no Ito's form isn't the only thing to change. In fact, Yui's outfit also undergoes a rather noteworthy change. Now donning an iro muji kimono, Yui's outfit takes a drastic difference from what it once was. This kimono is white in color, perfectly complimenting Kōri no Ito's abilities and theme. Across her waist, Yui sports a jet-black obi, very much reminiscent to her Zanpakuto's sealed appearance. Similarly, the tabi she's given are also black in color, paired with similarly-colored sandals.
Inner World Appearance:
Yui's inner world is one of relative beauty. Almost perpetually nighttime, her Inner World appears as a wooded cliffside overlooking another densely-wooded area. Every time she looks to meditate, she'll find herself appearing on the cliffside as opposed to down below, overlooking the night sky. At a glance, it appears around wintertime; every tree in sight is missing leaves, with a light falling of snow all around.
Atop this cliffside sits a rather large Shinto shrine. The shrine itself is easily the size of a larger American home in size, despite not having a similar number of floors as said home. The interior of the shrine is exceedingly well-kept and well-insulated, as to keep the cold from the outdoors out. Lights seem to function on their own, giving way to easy navigation throughout the entire shrine itself.
Even outside, the moon works to illuminate the area quite nicely, making it rather easy to navigate even while away from the shrine. Though, the shrine itself naturally gives off quite an amount of light, making sure it's almost always able to be seen, so long as an individual is looking in its direction. Even without looking at it, faint traces of light might be seen from quite a distance away.
In the shrine itself, both Kōri no Ito and Yuki may be found. Both tend to go about their own business as normal, but may occasionally interact with one another. Yuki tends to remain seated toward the center of the shrine, practically unmoving unless acknowledged. Kōri, on the other hand, is much more likely to move about, interacting with the shrine and those inside.{Zanpakuto Spirit: Faceclaim: Tsurara Shirayuki - Rosario + Vampire (Click Here)}
Kōri no Ito (or Kōri, for short) is a spirit of elegance. Standing at 5'9", just slightly taller than Yui, and weighing in at around 130 lbs., Kōri holds a rather mature appearance. Appearing as somewhere between her 30's and 40's, she isn't an individual that sticks out too much at first glance. Simply put, everything about her is rather simple in nature, despite the classiness she gives off.
Starting with the woman's hair, Kōri's maintains a rather simple silver coloring to it. Kept almost exclusively up in a high bun, the Zanpakuto Spirit's hair remains neatly kept, unlike that of Yui's or Yuki's own. Her bangs rest rather noticeably atop her head, swept to both sides with a singular strand down the middle, almost reaching the bridge of her note. At their longest points, Kōri's hair just barely reaches the start of her shoulders.
When talking about the woman's face, the first thing that stands about would be Kōri's eyes. Instead of holding a single color, both of Kōri's eyes actually have two separate ones; toward the upper parts of her irises, her eyes hold a purplish-indigo, much like Yui's, while the bottoms of her irises hold a blue coloration to them. Aside from this, the woman is perpetually found with a lollipop in her mouth. With these two key traits out of the way, the girl tends to be rather... human in appearance.
When we reach Kōri's outfit, a similar comment can be made; nothing inherently stands out of the ordinary. Kōri's outfit serves as a mirror image to that of Yuki's, Yui's Inner Hollow. She dons a rather simplistic white yukata, kept in pristine condition despite its perpetual wearing by her. This yukata reaches down to her ankles in length, with the woman wearing a light purple obi sash tied neatly around her waist. Tucked into this obi sash is a sheathed uchigatana; a copy of Kōri's weapon state.{Inner Hollow: Faceclaim: Doma - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Click Here)}
Yui's Inner Hollow, Yuki, is very much a being of eccentricity. Standing at a solid 5'11", and weighing around 145 lbs., Yuki overall is quite a toned individual. His skin is pale white, very much akin to that of a corpse. His skin is completely clear of any blemishes or markings, though there are quite a number of other traits that stand out amongst Yuki's appearance. More on that below. All-in-all however, Yuki gives off an incredibly... concerning aura. As though his true intentions are almost always hidden.
Beginning with Yuki's face, the most immediate trait about him is his eyebrows. Notably thick, and differently colored from his hair, Yuki's eyebrows have an almost "sharp" appearance to them. Unlike his hair, his eyebrows are jet-black, heavily implying this to be a natural hair color, as opposed to the golden coloration of that atop his head. Aside from his eyebrows, the only other notable trait about his face would be his teeth; when smiling or opening his mouth, vampire-like canines make themselves incredibly apparent.
As previously stated, Yuki's hair is golden blond in color, and appears rather similar to his eyebrows in that it all looks very "sharp"; purposefully styled to appear with an almost edged look, as though simply touching a strand could prick a finger. His hair stretches down to just after his shoulders, keeping the same bushy-yet-pointy appearance the entire way down. The tips of Yuki's hair take on an almost light-blue color to them, as though they've been quite literally "frosted", play on words intentional.
From there, Yuki appears about as one would expect from a normal person. His build is somewhat toned, with visible musculature if someone were to look at his bare skin. The only other thing of note regarding his physical appearance would be his nails; each and every one of them is a bit grown out, around a full inch in length, and perfectly sharpened. Aside from that, nothing else really stands out about him physically.
In regards to his clothing, Yuki finds himself wearing something actually quite similar to Kōri no Ito. His outfit largely consists of a yukata, not unlike his Zanpakuto Spirit counterpart. Though, instead of the white and purple coloration of her own outfit, Yuki's is a bit different. His is colored almost entirely black, with a blood-red obi sash loosely tied around his waist. Tucked neatly in this obi is a copy of Kōri no Ito, though with colors similarly-inverted when compared against his outfit.
Hollow Mask:
Yui's Hollow Mask is one that stands out somewhat from the rest. Instead of being a simple mask with a small design on it, Yui's mask actually comes in two separate parts. Beginning with the first and largest, is the mask itself. Appearing as a standardized hollow mask, complete with a structure that rests almost perfectly ok the girl's face, this mask is almost pure white in color and maintains the standard "hollow" appearance of the mask; smaller eyes, sharpened teeth, and generally fairly rigid shape behind it.
Overtop of this mask, however, rests something rather interesting. Made from the same material as the hollow mask itself, a clothlike manifestation of yellow-colored chitin sits attached to the mask's forehead, hanging down in front of her face. Reminiscent to a talisman that might be found on the face of a Kyonshī, this sheet of paper-chitin sits directly in between the girl's eyes, reaching all the way down the full length of the mask. As one could potentially expect, this sheet of paper-chitin tends to move with wind and other external effects, though maintains its durability. Written vertically across the front is the Kanji 制御, meaning "To control".
Zanpakuto Overall Ability:
Kōri no Ito at its core is a Zanpakuto with the ability to produce thin threads of ice. These threads, while fully-physical in nature, cut with a force equal to Yui's Reiatsu Strength, much like her Zanpakuto. While the girl's methods of producing and weaponizing this thread will differ based on her released state, her threads function almost entirely the same between both Shikai and Bankai. These threads possess a durability similar to Yui's own Zanpakuto; in order to break through a thread in one clean attack, someone requires twice Yui's Reiatsu Strength in their primary Offensive Stat. Consecutive hits will still wear down these threads, but will not break them in one clean hit.
As one can expect, Kōri no Ito's threads and ice are incredibly cold to the touch; so much so, that even immediate contact is enough to begin numbing the contact point. With prolonged exposure, that area of someone's body will likely be frozen and frostbitten, completely down to the bone. Liquids that come in contact with Yui's threads will be immediately frozen over, provided they are created from a lower Spiritual Offensive Stat that Yui's Reiatsu Strength, still following standard Clash rules. This freezing process requires three consecutive posts of exposure to the cold created from Yui's release, increased by one post for every Rank in Cold Tolerance an individual has. While certainly a slow process, Kōri no Ito's entire toolkit is designed to speed up that process as much as possible. If struck non-consecutively, exposed areas will require a total of five hits to that area in order to freeze, increased by one hit for every Rank in Cold Tolerance an individual has. Unless otherwise specified, only one hit per area is counted per post (if the left arm is struck twice in the same post, only one hit will count. If both arms are struck in the same post, both arms will count as taking one hit from that post). While immune to the non-consecutive effects of her powers, Yui is not immune to the consecutive effects of her abilities.
Being incredibly thin threads of an already translucent material, Yui's ice threads require 150 Senses in order to be able to easily track and see. By doubling the reiatsu cost every time she utilizes her threads, she can cause this Senses requirement to increase by 150 (this extra value being reduced by 50 for every 1 Rank in Battle Analysis or Focused Eye, to a minimum of 0), as the threads are produced in a way that makes them even less reflective than they already were. Naturally those that see her place or utilize her threads are given the option to remember where she did so, but this is not guaranteed to be wholly accurate all of the time.
While connecting points with her threads, Yui's thread will follow her at her own speed, leaving a trail of thread where she moves her blade or fans. While separate from her, thread travels at a speed equal to her Reiatsu Strength. When sewing thread to a location or entity, she can choose to have this thread remain loosely connected, or pulled taught for no difference in cost. When pulling on thread, this will allow Yui to pull on the entire thread, applying a similar amount of force through the whole thread at her Reiatsu Strength when tugged. Naturally this makes setting up traps a much more viable method than simply fighting head-on. Breaking a thread from her fans or sword costs no reiatsu to do, and can be sewed into a material or entity at a distance by paying double the normal cost to do so.
Yui can make the choice to suppress the icy effects of her threads, halving any reiatsu costs spent when making said threads or utilizing techniques. In order to make them begin to freeze, the difference between what was paid and the normal reiatsu cost must be spent. The cutting aspects of her thread can be suppressed and activated as she desires, for no difference in cost. When pulling a thread, Yui is able to alter which set-up threads are pulled in turn, so long as they're still connected to the thread she's actively pulling.
Shikai Overall Ability:
In Shikai, Kōri no Ito takes the form of a large sewing needle-like sword. As one can expect, this weapon excels at making use of Yui's threads, and focuses heavily on being able to do so. Upon releasing Kōri no Ito, the eye of the needle is immediately primed with thread. While this might be the case however, Kori no Ito does function somewhat differently from a normal sewing needle. By touching a surface, individual, or other entity with the tip of the sword, Yui can sew her threads of ice to that surface, functioning like an actual sewing needle without requiring that it go all the way through said surface. This costs 10 reiatsu every time she touches a surface, with the reiatsu cost nullified if the sword does go all the way through. As she desires, Yui is capable of throwing her Zanpakuto, sending it flying forward in a straight line at a speed equal to her Reiatsu Strength.
Bankai Overall Ability:
In Bankai, Kanzen ni Kōtta Kōri no Ito manifests as a pair of Tessen. While wielding these weapons, Yui is capable of utilizing her Skill in Swords in order to fight effectively. Bankai marks a rather noteworthy change for Yui's release, as instead of simply sewing her threads into locations from touch, Yui is capable of swinging her Tessen while unfolded in order to fire gusts of snowy winds, lacing and slashing with her threads as these winds travel. Each gust of wind is no larger than five feet in diameter, and travels at a speed equal to her Reiatsu Strength. Inside of these gusts, Yui's threads rotate wildly, slicing and slashing anything they come in contact with at their standard force. Contact with the gust or her threads counts toward her freezing timer, and being struck with both the gust and her threads counts as two hits toward her freezing timer in that same post. Acting as a "basic attack" in her Bankai, these gusts cost 25 reiatsu to fire. If she desires, Yui is still capable of sewing thread into locations by hitting them with the end of her Tessen, but her Tessen must be closed and this still costs reiatsu in order to do.{白い縫合 - Shiroi Hōgō (lit. "White Suture")}
Technique Name: 白い縫合 - Shiroi Hōgō (lit. "White Suture")
Technique Stage: Shikai/Bankai
Technique Cost: 150 Reiatsu
Description: Shiroi Hōgō is a technique designed to create and quickly utilize a large amount of threads all at once. By spending the reiatsu cost, Yui is capable of producing a large web of interconnected threads from the eye of her sword. This web of threads is created at a speed of 600, moves at a speed equal to her Reiatsu Strength, and is as large as ten feet in diameter; this size can be doubled up to twice by paying an additional 75 reiatsu per doubling. While this thread can be swung to slash into individuals and attacks alike, the main purpose of this technique is to set traps; as such, sewing Shiroi Hōgō into something or someone from a distance doesn't cost the normal amount of reiatsu to do; that is instead paid for when the technique is activated.
In Bankai, this technique is accompanied by an equally-large gust of frozen winds, requiring Yui to wave her Tessen in order to cast Shiroi Hōgō. For three posts after these threads sew to an area, these frozen winds will continue to circle, working toward freezing everything they touch. Bankai allows Yui to double the size an additional two times, though still requires the extra reiatsu to do so.
Drawbacks: While this web of thread can remain connected to Yui's sword for as long as she likes, she is incapable of sewing threads into the area around her until these threads are fired off. In Bankai, setting up threads like this requires quite an amount of foresight to get the full effects. Size increases must be paid in full, and cannot be halved in cost via her Overall Ability.{白い槍 - Shiroi Yari (lit. "White Spear")}
Technique Name: 白い槍 - Shiroi Yari (lit. "White Spear")
Technique Stage: Shikai/Bankai
Technique Cost: 50 Reiatsu
Description: One of Yui's more offensively-focused techniques, Shiroi Yari gives Yui a method of easy-application ranged attacks. After she has thread sewn into an area, Yui can channel reiatsu into that thread from any distance, so long as she can maintain eye contact with that thread. When she does this, paying the reiatsu cost in order to do so, she can cause a needle of ice to fire toward a location of her choice from that thread, firing at a speed equal to her Reiatsu Strength. This needle functions like her Zanpakuto, and can sew a thread into the location it comes in contact with for no extra cost. The number of needles fired from this technique can be doubled up to twice by paying 25 reiatsu per doubling.
In Bankai, threads fired are done so with a gust of wind in tow, this gust being equivalent in size to the girl's Bankai Overall Ability, and centered on the thread created. As this needle flies, and for up to three posts after this thread is sewed into something, these winds will rage around the newly created thread. Bankai allows Yui to double her needles up to two additional times, though still requires the extra reiatsu to do so.
Drawbacks: Shiroi Yari can only be activated once per post. Given this technique requires her to have eyesight on her threads, she's limited to the kinds of traps she can set with this. Shiroi Yari's Bankai variant is potentially dangerous for Yui to use, given she's not immune to her own abilities. Additional needles must be paid in full, and cannot be halved in cost via her Overall Ability.{白い縛り - Shiroi Shibari (lit. "White Binding")}
Technique Name:白い縛り - Shiroi Shibari (lit. "White Binding")
Technique Stage: Shikai/Bankai
Technique Cost: 100 Reiatsu
Description: Shiroi Shibari is a phenomenal tool for when Yui isn't exactly able to set up a trap in enough time. By piercing an area with her Zanpakuto and paying the reiatsu cost, Yui is able to imbue the area with multiple threads, primed to fire either on command or from proximity, chosen when using the technique. Firing based on proximity will cause these threads to trigger when an entity comes within five feet of the threads, whereas firing on command requires 50 reiatsu in order to activate. Regardless of how it's activated, Shiroi Shibari will fire out the imbued threads at a speed equal to her Reiatsu Strength toward an entity when conditions are met, aiming to bind them in place. Threads will bind them to nearby surroundings, will bind limbs together, and will even bind them to Yui's Zanpakuto if she's close enough. No matter how it's done, the end goal is complete physical restraint. 4 threads will be fired with one activation of Shiroi Shibari. The number of threads can be doubled up to twice by paying an additional 50 reiatsu per doubling.
Instead of piercing an area with her Zanpakuto, Bankai requires Yui to wave her Tessen toward the area where she wants to set up the trap, allowing Yui to set up a trap from a range. Much like the other Bankai variants of her techniques, wires fired from Shiroi Shibari will be coated in her Bankai's frozen winds. Bankai allows Yui to double the number of threads fired up to two additional times, though still requires the extra reiatsu to do so.
Drawbacks: Shiroi Shibari can only be set up thrice per post. Both castings on this technique are potentially detrimental; proximity activation can cause this technique to bind allies (except for Yui herself), whereas command activation requires Yui to have the Instinct to activate the trap in time. The Bankai variant of this technique removes a significant amount of subtlety from the technique's setup, potentially defeating the purpose of it in the first place. Additional threads must be paid in full, and cannot be halved in cost via her Overall Ability.{白い吹雪 - Shiroi Fubuki (lit. "White Snowstorm")}
Technique Name: 白い吹雪 - Shiroi Fubuki (lit. "White Snowstorm")
Technique Stage: Bankai
Technique Cost: 100 Reiatsu/Post
Description: Serving as a sort of "Stance" for Yui's release, Shiroi Fubuki allows the girl to, instead of firing off gusts of wind, whip up a localized area of frozen winds and icy threads around her. These winds and threads will rage in a ten-foot diameter centered on her, rotating at a speed equal to her Reiatsu Strength. This functions as one can expect, forcing deep cuts and lacerations from the threads that fly around the girl, serving as both a fairly potent offense, as well as a useful defensive tool. Similarly to the rest of her techniques, this technique's size can be doubled up to four times by paying an additional 50 reiatsu per doubling per post.
Drawbacks: While certainly potent, Shiroi Fubuki isn't without its drawbacks. While active, Yui is incapable of firing off gusts of wind via her Bankai Overall. While the threads from this technique won't touch Yui, she'll still be actively caught in the middle of the snowstorm created; given she isn't immune to her own powers, keeping this technique active for too long could prove fatal for the girl. Size increases must be paid in full, and cannot be halved in cost via her Overall Ability.{白い花火 - Shiroi Hanabi (lit. "White Fireworks")}
Technique Name: 白い花火 - Shiroi Hanabi (lit. "White Fireworks")
Technique Stage: Bankai
Technique Cost: 100 Reiatsu/Post
Description: Shiroi Hanabi serves as a tool to quickly coat an entire area in a perpetual snowstorm. By forcing reiatsu into the threads she's set up across the battlefield, Yui forces them to explode, ringing outward and causing the fragments from said threads to rage around the area in a blinding haze. Centered on where each thread was located, activation of this technique causes all of her current threads to be removed from the battlefield, and for gusts of wind akin to her Bankai Overall Ability to rage over those areas in a ten-foot diameter. While certainly useful on its own, Shiroi Hanabi shines from its ability to blind those in the area; all individuals in the area, except for Yui, require a 3 in Battle Analysis or a 4 in Battle Focus in order to see through the storm. Similarly to the rest of her techniques, this technique's size can be doubled up to four times by paying an additional 50 reiatsu per doubling per post. This can be stacked alongside Shiroi Fubuki in order to count toward two posts of freezing, if both are maintained at a time.
Drawbacks: Given they'll simply explode, Yui is unable to sew any new threads while this technique is active, forcing her to rely almost exclusively on non-release techniques, or non-thread-oriented applications of her release, which are few and far between. Affects allies and enemies alike. While the threads from this technique won't blind Yui, she'll still be actively caught in the middle of the snowstorm created; given she isn't immune to her own powers, keeping this technique active for too long could prove fatal for the girl. Size increases must be paid in full, and cannot be halved in cost via her Overall Ability.{白い平和 - Shiroi Heiwa (lit. "White Peace")}
Technique Name: 白い平和 - Shiroi Heiwa (lit. "White Peace")
Technique Stage: Bankai
Technique Cost: 100 Reiatsu/Post
Description: Shiroi Heiwa serves as one of the most synergistic abilities within Yui's arsenal. What this technique seems almost counterintuitive to her abilities as a whole, but actually serves to bolster most of her offensive capabilities into one, focused attack. Upon spending the reiatsu to activate Shiroi Heiwa, all of the frozen winds produced from Yui's release thus far, and all of those she produces while this technique remains active will disappear entirely. The world around her resorts back to a calm, almost insidiously serene sense of peace. Though in actuality, this couldn't be further from the truth. All of the storm, and all of the threads that would otherwise be inside of each storm is instead localized on Yui's Tessen. By activating her Bankai Overall Ability, and swinging her Tessen to fire off a gust of frozen winds, Yui is able to localize every instance of winds that would otherwise be generated from her threads into the one she had just fired off.
While not a statistical increase, this technique remains incredibly powerful simply due to the sheer number of of cutting edges from each of the frozen winds, and each of the threads localized on the blast. Even one swing of her Tessen could result in a blast of frozen winds with enough cutting points to mince a person into bits. Even with a minimal amount of winds stored inside the Tessen, defensive techniques and manifestations are absolutely no match for this technique, bypassing them so long as Yui maintains Class superiority. These winds, while powerful, begin quite small in size; one gust of condensed frozen winds is no larger than 4 feet in diameter. Similarly to the rest of her techniques, this technique's size can be doubled up to four times by paying an additional 50 reiatsu per doubling per post.
Drawbacks: This technique goes heavily against the core concepts of Yui's release as a whole, making it a very situational tool for her to make use of. Even if the situation does arise for her to utilize it, activating it with minimal effectiveness is quite expensive for a character with an otherwise quite low reiatsu-pool; at maximum effectiveness, Yui is quite likely to burn herself out almost entirely after more than two or three posts of usage.
Other Techniques:
Shunpo lol✚ HISTORY ✚
Birthplace: Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama.
Current Residence: Karakura, Tokyo.
Memorable Figures:
Ishikawa Seiji - The Shinigami responsible for performing Konso on the girl. While she never caught his name, his appearance has remained practically ingrained into her mind to the point where she's not going to be forgetting any time soon.
Madelyn Fūrinji - Yui's first real friend. Having met in the Rukon, and eventually ended up separated during a Rukon cleansing done by the Shinigami, Yui very heavily seeks to find this girl once again.
History:{CHAPTER Ⅰ}
The story of Yui Tsumugi begins roughly five years in the past, detailing Yui's life prior to her own death. Having originally been born in the Tsurumi Ward of Yokohama City, Yui's life was one of relative bustle. While certainly nothing extravagant, the girl found herself familiar quite quickly with the city life, having grown up in said city for sixteen years with her family.
Those first sixteen years of her life passed with relative ease, with nothing particularly out of the ordinary occurring during that time frame. From a young age, she found herself excelling when it came to academics, staring fairly early in Primary School and even despite the low-focus toward academics still flew through her class with minimal effort required.
Secondary School ended up more of the same, allowing Yui to only further excel in her classes and maintain perfect marks across the board. Though while she did, her biggest fault around this time was due to her lack of ability to make any real friends. Sure, she had people that she interacted with on a daily basis, but most of this was no more than that; simple interactions that just happened to occur throughout the day.
As Secondary School continued, Yui found herself spending more and more time alone. Though, unlike what some might've anticipated or expected, she didn't actually have a problem with that fact! Quite the opposite; she grew quite content being able to spend time on her own, when and how she wanted. It felt almost... relieving to her, in a sense. Like it was always something she could fall back on.
As one could expect, High School was more of the same. Her 9th grade year began as expected, with the girl excelling almost immediately in her classes from the get-go. Further exemplifying her own intelligence, Yui once again sat at the top of her class, freshly setting herself up for quite a strong lead on the life she was prepared to lead.{CHAPTER Ⅱ}
Alas, for poor Yui, things don't always end up as planned. As she found herself walking home from classes, one fateful day during the start of the 10th grade year, she found herself immediately caught off-guard by something she couldn't even hope to see. By something that immediately threatened to take her life. Watching as buildings immediately began to crumble, as an invisible force barreled toward her, Yui found herself defenseless, letting out a frightened shriek and forcing her eyes shut.
And then, she felt practically nothing. Nothing more than a cold, numb feeling from her legs. In fact, this cold crept up her torso, only continuing to grow. Slowly opening her eyes, and realizing that adrenaline was keeping her functional, she'd noticed almost immediately that whatever it was that had attacked her had split her down the middle, with her lower half nowhere in sight. Unable to comfortably process this information, and immediately sent into a state of shock, darkness once again overtook the girl's vision.
When next she opened her eyes, she found herself standing once more, just above where she'd just been attacked. A little confused, she took a look around, making immediate note of her own body laid before her and immediately looked away, not wanting to vomit. Though, she noticed something else; someone clad in black robes, wielding a rather scary-looking sword. Almost immediately frightened, she fell to the ground, and began to move back as he approached.
Taking in his appearance almost immediately, Yui made note of his physical features; more distinctly, his emerald-green hair. As he approached her, he seemed to do what he could to calm her down. The hollow had been removed from the situation, and now he was there to purify the girl; send her to Soul Society. After a few moments of discussion between the two, Yui eventually reached a point of calm.
After she did, and allowed the Shinigami to approach, she made sure to remember his appearance. As he performed Konso, pressing the pommel of his sword against her forehead, she made sure to remember his appearance. If she had the opportunity after her purification, she was going to try to seek him out in order to thank him for effectively "saving" her. Such was just the right thing to do.{CHAPTER Ⅲ}
As she ended up in the further districts of the Rukongai, Yui immediately found herself unable to do much of anything. She didn't know what was going on, nor how she was going to, well, live. To say this put the girl into a sate of panic was an understatement. Though, despite the conditions around her, she seemed to make a fair few acquaintances that were willing to aid her.
One such acquaintance was a girl by the name of Madelyn Fūrinji. Becoming close friends with the girl in a very short span of time, Yui considered Madelyn to be someone she could confide in; someone she could trust. And, despite the conditions that the two were forced to endure given the Rukongai at the time, Madelyn seemed to make most everything that much more bearable.
Though, all good things do eventually come to an end. While minding their own business one of the days in the Rukon, the two girls were met with a small squadron of Shinigami entering their district. Unexpected to most everyone there, however, these Shinigami eventually began to massacre the citizens of the Rukongai. Sending everyone into a sheer state of panic, Yui included, she found herself almost immediately separated from Madelyn.
Unaware of whether or not her friend found herself dead or alive, Yui herself did what she could to keep herself safe, making sure she was well-hidden from the Shinigami currently "attacking". Though, unbeknownst to her, the girl was found rather quickly due to a rather surprising amount of spiritual energy residing from her.
Fortunately for the girl, she wasn't killed, and instead given an alternate opportunity; given her latent spiritual capabilities, she was given the opportunity to join Shinō Academy. Cautiously, she accepted, not really sure of the consequences of declining such an offer like that. More so out of fear for her life, she began to follow the Shinigami out of the Rukongai.{CHAPTER Ⅳ}
Departing from the Rukongai for the first time in about six months, Yui found herself being brought to Seireitei. While not something she felt she was particularly in favor of, given the circumstances and what she'd recently witnessed, Yui couldn't help but find herself in a state of confusion and concern. Truthfully she wasn't quite sure whether or not she wanted to go through with joining the Shinigami. But, whether or she was prepared was beyond her for the time.
As she followed the Shinigami through the Rukon, she couldn't help but notice the folks around her. Some had given her odd glances, others simply turned their heads away and refused to look at them as they travelled. As one could expect, such treatment didn't exactly sit well with Yui. So much so to the point where she'd begun questioning her choice to follow the Shinigami.
As they continued on through the districts, though, the opinions of folks around seemed to change greatly. Almost like there was a level of respect for the Shinigami passing through with her. Though, with Yui being as smart as she was, she made a fairly solid inference based on the events that had unfolded prior; she had every reason to assume that Shinigami didn't hit the higher districts for the mass damage caused to maintain the Soul Cycle.
Such a thought made the poor girl sick to her stomach. She found herself very quickly at odds with the Shinigami ideology, but felt almost powerless to do much of anything about that fact. A fact that did not sit well with her in the slightest. Before they arrived to Seireitei, she knew full-well that she needed to come up with a plan. And a plan, she did come up with.
As they made their way there, and Yui found herself quickly registered to attend Shinō Academy, and given her own little living space; much more than she had originally been expecting upon her arrival.
