"Well then it looks as though we can have a chat, and that our Mr. Naito here can stay! As for Genrick, don't mind him. He deserves a lightning jolt up the nose, I say! In any event, you are very gracious, Mr. Takashi. Oh! Captain Takashi, forgive me. You know, my father was in the military. Lieutenant. Never mind that.
Let's get straight to it. I am meeting with you now on behalf of the Philanthropists' Association. As our name implies, we are an organization dedicated to the benefit of humankind."
At this, Bostich disappeared and the wall began to show a video. There was a corporate logo: the name with a globe as the first "o" in Association. Pictures and videos of helping people in all sorts of situations flashed on the walls.
"Quite simply, we love humankind. We have a wonderful world filled with wonderful people, and we want to make our existence here as wonderful as can be. The Philanthropists' Association is just like it sounds: an association of people who think like I described. We send all sorts of aid all over the world. We lend relief from disasters and build infrastructure to make lives better without care for race, religion, creed, color, et cetera.
It recently came to our attention that there is a system by which people are removed from their natural habitat and made to become a part of something... unnatural. Our attentions were first drawn in this direction by the activities of the Hollows. They appear to be in the habit of literally devouring the indomitable human spirit and incorporating it into themselves in the fashion of a poor bit of food. Naturally we were horrified upon learning this and immediately got to work combating this problem.
As our efforts progressed, we happened upon another group that shared our goals, or so we thought. The organization I refer to is known as Soul Society. It is populated by people called Soul Reapers, and their chief activity on Earth is the killing of Hollows. However, we discovered a most sinister motivation upon investigating. These characters actually take the spirits from Hollows just to claim them for their own purposes. We were positively mortified when we found that they actually capture free roaming spirits and forcibly take them to their own realm!
We are now heavily engaged in the protection of the humans of London and the surrounding areas in England. We hope to expand through the entire United Kingdom by the end of the year and into mainland Europe just months after that. With any luck, we'll be present on every continent in 5 years."
The video ended and Bostich reappeared. "Now, you gentlemen appear to be rather strong and, if I might inquire, important? For that matter, it's been rather difficult getting anyone to talk or listen. I should be frank: the general policy thus far has been to up and kill any Hollow or Shinigami encountered. However, if you might see your way to leaving humans alone, we could leave all this nasty business behind us. Perhaps we can find some other source of... whatever it is you need. We have quite a few resources you know, and more than a bit of power. How does all that strike you?"
Bostich stood waiting for a reply. It seemed that he wasn't an evil man after all. He clearly had no personal ill will toward either of the figures in this mirrored room. He's just someone who cares about his human brethren and wants to use his power to protect them. How will Kuroi respond to all this? What about Shiro?
