Special Conditions: Astrid can only Summon 5 times and can only have 2 summons out at a time, If Shawn manages to beat all 5 summons then Astrid must fight Shawn herself
Circumstances: Shawn is searching for his younger siblings in the 80th Rukon district while Astrid gets sent there

Today was the day he was going to find his brother and sister, this has been the first day off that Shawn has had in months. So far he has searched a majority of the Rukon districts closer to the Seireitei, therefore he figured he would take the time to check out one of the farther districts. Making sure his Zanpakuto is firmly strapped to his back and his Shihakuso is on correctly, he slips on his Waraji and proceeds to leave the Squad Eleven barracks.



It takes Shawn an hour or two before he makes it to one of the farthest districts known as the 80th. He begins his search closer to whatever shops may exist, from there he searches the streets and alleyways for anyone resembling them. After failing to find them he begins losing heart, believing their probably not in this area. Deciding he might as we give the district one last look around before calling it in this area.

A few hours earlier:



Astrid had been doing her own thing in the Suicide Forest. Getting killed and occasionally, very occasionally killing something else. It wasn't exactly a normal but she had gotten a bit better at this thing called "Tactics". Having gone to Hueco Mundo or more accurately being thrown there and from her last excursion to the human world Astrid had noticed her hunger pangs while intense were not, on average, as overwhelmingly intense as they used to be. Certainly she could still get overwhelmed and be utterly consumed by this hunger that stemmed from deep within her but she noticed she could hold out longer now. Not that she liked to but if push came to shove she could. All in all Astrid had been advancing some, at a snail's pace but still considering she used to have absolutely no chance against even the weakest saika's and now she could attempt a fight with some of the forests hell beasts it was a pretty good level of improvement.



Still she was missing something. Something important. An edge if you will. But for as much as she thought on it, she couldn't figure it out. She needed more time or more food perhaps. She'd noticed that the more she consumed the greater her mental clarity was. Hell she'd even managed to reflect a bit on her prior fight with a shinigami. The first one who'd managed to kill her spirits, one of which she killed outright. The other she'd damaged fairly heavily. That ultimately was what spawned her to decide to reflect on some of her prior fights and consider if she could do better with her "tactics". She wasn't certain if that word was correct but it felt like it might be. It was a strange word though.



Regardless Astrid had been pondering things a bit too long in her grove and hadn't realized that Alastor had spawned up yet another door. Somehow the man seemed to always have an eye on her regardless of where she was or what she was doing. Which meant she'd probably seen her various failed attempts at continuing to take over the forest or at least a portion of it. However and whatever means he used to keep an eye on her he did occasionally decide to spawn doors near her. However with a "recent" feast having occurred within the past hour Astrid could actually find herself lost in some simple thoughts now. Thus how she hadn't realized the door was present.



After a short duration of ignoring the door it opened up anyway, this time to some far off and honestly degenerate portion of the Rukongai. Not that Astrid would have any clue what that is or was but that's where it opened up to. And upon the doors being fully opened began to draw a vacuum on the nearby area. Strong enough that Astrid actually got pulled out of her thoughts and turned to look at what it was exactly that was trying to draw her in. Sadly. . . Astrid was just as weak as ever and had no means whatsoever to really avoid being sucked up and shit out the other end of the door. That however did NOT stop her from trying her absolute best to do anything but get vacuumed. She sent her tendrils and roots into the ground, grabbed onto nearby plant life, to her detriment, hell she even attempted to spawn a spirit to aid her. All of her attempts ended in failure.



Thus through the door Astrid went and out the other end into something incredibly fucking cold. So cold Astrid immediately jumped up tried to avoid by jumping elsewhere only to realize that there was this cold white shit everywhere. She frowned and narrowed her eyes as Astrid began to shiver from the drastic temperature difference, not even realizing the door had closed behind her. Wh-what? Why. . . Am I. . . here? Where? The more she looked around the more she realized she wasn't anywhere like her realm or the quiet and simple countryside like she was last time. No it was the dead of winter in the furthest portion of the Rukongai and she had next to no means of keeping herself warm. Not that it would matter much given that as a plant she was a bit more tolerant of cold and heat than the standard human.



Regardless she was slowly growing more frustrated at her new predicament. And she swore she was going to have words with Alastor if she could muster them up in an intelligent manner. And by intelligent she meant actually forming some of them as opposed to namely growling and yelling at him. For now though? She'd have to start walking in a direction and hope she found somewhere to be. Or something to eat. Mainly the latter given if she could do that, she'd warm up sooner than later.





Current time:





Alright so a couple things had happened since. Astrid had lost her fucking mind and temper at the constant cold. Not to mention being snowed upon and having had a few tree's pile on snow directly to her. Bright side? She found a nearly collapsed upon house and the few thin and possibly starving plus in there. Within seconds she'd consumed them utterly, barring one. Speedy fucker that he was had run out as soon as he walked in and saw Astrid consuming the brain matter of his family. Had she not been unwilling to stop licking the insides of the man's skull she'd have gotten to him in time but she didn't. Thus he'd run out and started screaming. So did a couple others but they had just told him to "Shut the fuck up asshole!" And eventually he had.



She'd shrugged it off at the time not realizing that this man was going to be the reason she had more issues. And more shinigami. . . Again. When she walked back out, all 3 feet of her covered in blood, viscera, and even a couple bones in her teeth that clearly weren't here own it would be no surprise that she found said shinigami before her. And extremely pissed off. But that only made two of them because Astrid as well had just gotten warmed up AND fed and here YET AGAIN was a shinigami. Her irrational anger of them still didn't make sense yet try as she might she couldn't figure out why. Though the reason felt closer and closer than ever. Especially when she consumed something. It always just flittered away but it was nearing her grasp slowly but surely.



At this point however that didn't matter. What mattered was she was interrupted. And she was trapped wherever the fuck this place was. And HE was here staring her down. Astrid simply growled lowly at him, not quite pissed off enough yet to do more than give him ample warning to fuck off. Though truthfully even if he did fuck off she'd chase him down and eat him. Certain that he'd be of help for her understanding just why she held such an intense and irrational anger towards them. For now though she simply waited to see what he did. Maybe that teleportation thing again. Who knew? The last one seemed very fond of that move after all. Granted it hadn't helped her then but who knows? Maybe this one was better at running away than the former.

There it was for Shawn to hear again, someone screaming as if they were about to die. Sure that was eventually followed by others telling him to shut it, the problem is Shawn could hear the genuine fear in his yelling. Rushing over to where he heard the screaming, the man passed him pointing at a house Shawn assumed to be the mans, resting his hand on the grip of his sword he started inching his way towards the run down building. Currently he was hesitant to rush on in, after all he knew close quarter combat was not his specialty, could he manage? enough to possibly survive, but he wasn't eager to test that theory out right away.



Before Shawn could make it to the building something lingered out, and something was the only way he could describe this thing. It didn't have a Hollow mask or fragment, so it couldn't be a Hollow or Arrancar. It didn't seem like one of the beast clansmen he heard about, in fact it was more like a plant then a beast. So what was it, if he was right than two major feelings surged through him simultaneously, fear and anger. This thing was covered in the blood and remains of the souls that most likely used to live in that building. It infuriates him that this far out in the Rukongai doesn't get much Shinigami protection, who is ignoring the needs of these souls?



The thing begins to snarl and growl at Shawn who at the moment was just standing there, looking down at the thing unsure of what this thing might be capable of. "You can snarl at me all you want, but know this, if you didn't crawl out of the depths of Hell then I'm about to send you there." It was at this moment he would draw his sword and hold it close to his face, pointed towards the creature.



Not knowing what this thing might be able to do, Shawn was ready to use Shunpo at any moment to dodge out of the way of anything. His nerves were really getting to him and a cold sweat even began to fall down his forehead. I really hope this thing goes down without much of a fight, however, considering it's covered in blood I doubt it will be that easy. Lunging forward he plans on piercing the monster straight through the area he assumes to be the neck. What will Astrid do? Will she dodge out of the way? or is Shawn about to learn how painful it is to attack an opponent much higher Spiritual Pressure using a non Release weapon?

Astrid growled further at him, especially when he mentioned hell. As if a shinigami could even imagine what hell was like. In ANY capacity. She ground her teeth together and quickly attempted to draw up some sigils in the air. The issue at hand being that the shinigami had decided it was immediately going on the offensive and that meant either she created her sigil, maybe two, and dealt with him after, maybe even beating him if she could be quick about generating them. Or she'd give up the sigil and attack outright. Astrid was many things, but intelligent was not one of them.

She chose to keep creating her sigil and actually managed one before she started moving. While she wasn't going to be stabbed in the jugular, if she even had a jugular given. . . plant life. She didn't have the means of dodging it outright, especially not without her sigils prepped. Thus when she tried to move out the way Shawn's zanpakuto actually managed to find itself within her shoulder. This would be the first time a couple of things would happen for Astrid. 1. She was not immediately killed upon being hit by something. A strange commedity given in hell, she'd be dead by now. And there would be no stopping it. However here? She was just hurt but far more readily able to handle the pain of being stabbed in the shoulder.

This did however show her a new set of issues. Dealing with being injured and not yet killed outright. As sad as it may be this was not a concept Astrid was familiar with at all. Thus while the pain was managable the fact that she was bleeding . . . sap. That had to be it given it's thick syrupy substance though unlike her saliva it was darker. . .orange even or maybe red orange? Whatever the case it was a drastically darker color and it definitely wasn't a pleasant experience. Though she'd find it manageable. What she didn't find manageable was that her left arm was greatly hindered in the process because of this. And now she'd only be able to draw forth sigils, reliably with her right hand. And that pissed her off. A lot.

The second thing however, and arguably more important feature of the hour was that surprisingly Shawn did not get away unscathed. If anything the shinigami actually got off far worse than she did. See Astrid had far more spiritual reserves than she gave off. Far more than spiritual beings her level should normally have and the thing about that was others who had lesser amounts couldn't get away unscathed when they hit beings with such drastically higher quantities. Thus when Shawn impaled Astrid's shoulder he was subject to cutback and not a small level either. His hands were immensely bruised, black and purple with a good degree of swelling was all his hands were now. And given the sheer pain, especially out of nowhere he'd even gone so far as to let go of the sword.

Granted that hadn't helped him at all considering this swelling and pain went up his arms and finally stopped just short of his elbows. Though the bruising got immensely less painful and definitely not as intense as his hands. To say they were the main ones issuing the sheer volume of pain he'd be recieving would be an understatement. His arms by comparison were swelling yes but they had yellow to light purple bruising. Hell they'd likely feel more usable. His hands and fingers without a doubt would be FAR less compliant. Still with one sigil done Astrid placed it inside her open chest cavity and then ripped out the blade from her shoulder. In truth it hurt worse coming out than it did entering. And the syrupy sap blood was coming out a bit more than prior. Actually trailing down her own arm even.

Once out though she threw the damnable thing on the ground and created yet another sigil one and immediately threw it out 40 feet behind Shawn. The next moment she teleported to said sigil, now buried in the snow and a good bit harder to see given the sigil was also colored white. However all this did was piss off Astrid more and more and more. And that's when Astrid started to notice she was losing herself again to her anger. Not that she'd stop it, the anger was helping her forget about the pain entirely in her shoulder. But even still she couldn't let this stand. So like any pack alpha would do she began spawning her allies except something strange happened. Her control was sluggish. Something wasn't quite right and though she could sense the spirits within, the ones she knew of anyway, it was much harder to bring them out.

She narrowed her eyes and yelled out in anger. The sound fairly accurately the sound of boulders falling down a mountain side and crunching trees along the way. When she was done she immediately forced out two spirits both spawning from white sakura blossoms on the shrub tree on her back. They were white and the petals blew away on a breeze that wasn't present in the area. Once off though they coalseced into a small pile and out popped a couple wispy humanoid spirits. The energy black and gaseous, especially at the edges. She then growled out an order to have them run after Shawn and kill him. She didn't care how. Pain is. . .small. . .cut stops arm. . . Shinigami. . . Grrrrrr SHINIGAMI WILL BE EATEN!

In the meantime while Astrid was half hiding behind her summons she start drawing up another sigil in the air and quickly placed it on the back of her right hand. From there she took a moment to see what other spirits she could summon forth. Still finding their response sluggish and sometimes not there at all. She knew of at least two others she wanted. Her canine and her serpent but she wasn't sure which she'd need. For now though she needed to figure out where they were within her and have them at the ready. Fighting with this much of a delay was going to give that shinigami another chance to stab her again. And if he got her other arm she'd be unable to produce more sigils. . . easily that is. She could use her feet but she needed those to get away if necessary or even to attack him. Something she valued a bit more than sigils. Especially right now.

Shawn realized far to late the major mistake he made, for his attack did succeed. The problem with that is it succeeded in a good way and a horrible way, for the creature avoided taking the stab in the neck but instead had it's left... shoulder? That was great, in fact it seemed to inconvenience the thing and make it upset. The big problem is the bad thing that happened, he must have been hit with the cutback affect he heard about during the days he was in the academy.



How bad was Shawn affected by this cutback affect? his hands are no nearly unusable due to the fact they are nearly completely purple and swollen. In fact it was bad enough that he just let go of his Zanpakuto, leaving it planted in the things shoulder. Sadly his arms up to his elbows didn't get away unscathed either, however, they were nowhere near as bad as his hands. Stepping back a few feet from the pure shock of that moment, he finally collects himself enough to focus back on the target in front of him. With his sight set back on the creature, he watched as it pulls his sword out of it's shoulder and tosses it to the side. Thanks to this though he was able to notice it bleed this strange sap stuff, So it does bleed, if not with normal blood.



It was at this moment Shawn losses sight of the thing, it vanished from where it was as if it teleported. Searching around frantically for where that thing disappeared to, he witnesses two humanoid wisp creatures form spontaneously behind him. Of course, that thing probably summoned these things, the problem is I don't know where it went. With that thought in his head he begins preparing to fight these wisps. One thing for sure though, He wasn't going to be able to use his Zanpakuto again during this encounter, it was bad enough his hands wouldn't stop throbbing.



Shawn finally decides on a plan of action, raising his right... sausage hand, he points what seems to be his index finger at the wisp on the right. Hado #4: Byakurai, mentally casting the Kido, a beam of what appears to be white lightning shoots out of that finger heading straight towards the forehead of that wisp. If that didn't stop it he would then repeat the action again. If either one decides to make a move during his attack, he would prepare himself to Shunpo out of dangers way, especially considering how fast he would realize they are compared to him.



If neither of the first two Byakurai finished that wisp off, he would attempt to finish it off by blasting a third Byakurai into the things head. Finally he would hopefully watch that one fall, the problem is that took way to much effort to delete from existence. With there still being one last remaining wisp, he would behave to change his game plan as beating the last one took for to much energy and that didn't help considering the pain from his hands.

Things very quickly got very interesting for Astrid. Interesting in ways that Astrid hadn't realized were possible. For one thing lightning sprouted from this mans hand. And not a little bit, it was an entire fucking bolt. And Astrid was stunned. So much so that she simply watched it go abover her own head and into the trees far behind her. Truthfully even though she was pissed off at Shawn for well existing she had to admit she was greatly impressed by this and had at least a small margin of respect for him. Granted she didn't know what respect was nor the feeling associated with it but she knew there was something not terribly "bad" that she felt towards him for being able to conjure that up with ease.

Still that meant she'd have to be more careful. Thankfully she had her 3 sigils up and about so she could easily manage something, maybe even get close again but she'd have to see where Shawn was to figure out how to manage him properly. That and manage her summons. She needed to use those "tactics" again because currently they were simply running after what was before them. Her question was quickly answered however when she noticed one of her spirits get nailed straight in the forehead, even going through it some. Thankfully due to it being a spirit it wasn't really concerned about a lack of a complete face but even Astrid had to admit she was surprised it was still standing. Again she was NOT used to anything of hers, self included, surviving a hit. So the fact it managed to all but eat a lightning bolt pointed towards these things being far more durable than what they were in another life.

For specifics the wisps were both running as quick as they could to Shawn. And though Astrid herself had no capability to sense energy that was not the same for these entities. They had a decent grasp on the rudimentaries of it. And thus quickly caught onto the fact that Shawn was doing something. Thus the wisp on Shawn's right dodged the attack by simply side stepping it while he was continuing forward. By this point it was 20ish feet away, what the wisp did not however expect was the second bolt that was already approaching him post dodge of the first. If it had anything more than a gaseous face Shawn would have never seen it but he could get the feeling it was having an "Oh shit" moment before getting blasted through the face with a bit of resistance before the remainder cut through it.

This remainder of the lightning bolt streaked through the air before finally sizzling out. And Astrid yet again was amazed. It was beautiful how deadly and yet pretty it was. She knew it was beyond her current reach but she couldn't help but grow a little envious. She wanted to do things like this. She saw others do things EXACTLY like this but yet she couldn't. She didn't even begin to understand how she might be able to let alone what it was fully so she had no chance of figuring it out. But one day ONE DAY, she'd get there. Today however was not that day. Instead she had to focus herself a bit and stop looking at the pretty lights. She focused a bit more inward and managed to find her canine companion as well as the serpent with wings. They didn't respond, wouldn't almost. But she at least had an idea of where they might be inside her.

As for the external events Shawn had just "teleported" away from the wisp on his left. This was due to it attempting to give him a serious knuckle sandwhich. Sadly though it was fast Shawn with Shunpo was far faster and managed to get a good bit of distance away. Then the same wisp who took the first shot was hit yet again this time in the upper torso area. It attempted to figure out its life but the issue at hand was Shawn had managed to take out it's "heart" area. In addition to it's head the thing puffed out of existence. With the sound of a gas being released from it's prison the wisp died and then exploded into petals. These petals immediately returned to Astrid and merged together to create a white sakura blossom. This however did not stop the other wisp from continuing onto Shawn and if he wasn't paying attention he'd be within striking distance of it.

Against all odds however the wisp had a . . . unique idea to try out. Astrid had afterall been trying to get them to fight differently. Maybe not better strictly but differently so that they could handle enemies better. One of which she saw a very acrobatic monkey akki use. And thus the wisp was going to attempt to recreate it. It vaulted on it's hands and then launched itself at Shawn feet first aiming to hit him center mass. To say it would hurt would be an understatement if Shawn let it hit him. Hell it'd likely crack if not break a rib or two so he needed to figure out what to do with it. However if the wisp missed it'd simply continue forward and eventually land on it's side and slide for a few feet before picking itself back up and running directly for Shawn again.

Astrid in the meantime just continued to watch. Her anger was cooling some from her growing respect of the shinigami. It could teleport, it could fire lightning. It couldn't take a hit but frankly neither could she. So that wasn't something she was holding against it at this point. But she was curious if it had more magic it could do. She had her sigils but they were fairly unimpressive at the moment so she'd need to figure something else to do with em later. But that was for another time. For now she simply moved closer to Shawn, slowly. Eyes narrowed and her focus entirely on him she wanted to make sure she kept her eyes peeled for if or perhaps when he teleported again. She could play that game but not without a bit of set up. So she needed to keep in mind where he was going or was at until she could get in a good attack.

To Shawn's dismay, his attacks were not doing nearly as much to these things as he wished they would. Even a direct hit to the head did little to the thing as both just continue rushing at him before he Shunpo'd away and finished the one wisp. The problem with this situation was it took three whole Byakurai before the thing finally returned back to sender. Huh, so if I beat them they just return back to it? Well, at least I know they aren't unbeatable, just highly resistant.



Shawn was lost in thought just long enough were he didn't see the other wisp get closer to him, thankfully though he realized in time to Shunpo to the left about five feet avoiding the weird drop kick attack. This wasn't all, for this was the perfect position and moment to counter attack, ensuring this wisp won't be bothering him for to much longer. Raising his left hand and pointing his index finger at the wisp that just touched ground and started sliding. Bakudo #4:Hainawa, this would be cast mentally causing a strange glowing robe to launch from his fingers at the wisp. Once the rope hits, it would begin crawling and slithering around the wisp thus tangling it up and keeping it from being able to move.



Walking over to the hopefully immobile wisp, Shawn would flick his hand downwards at it which would also bring with it a good deal of pain considering the bruising and swelling. Pushing through that pain a few thin strands of class 8 string would soar downward before sticking to the wisps strangely physical yet not physical body. "Hado #11: Tsuzuri Raiden", he would cast this Kido which would cause visible volts of lightning to travel down the string and into the body of the wisp, essentially electrocuting the thing until it also returned back to Astrid.



This time though Shawn would be ready, following the wisp turned flower until he finds where the creature was hiding. "There you are, that was something I must admit I wasn't ready for, now I hope your ready." Saying this Shawn would slowly walk towards Astrid, never moving to fast and always watching his back for a possible sneak attack. After all, if she was able to summon those wisp humanoid things then she might have more up her figurative sleeve.

The wisp did the best it could do. Truly but it wasn't going to be able to do much especially when it was mid slide when the rope from Hainawa decided to hold it in place. Given it'd full body wrapped it up the poor thing couldn't even get up or attempt to get up via it's knees and feet. It was simply stuck there. Still it had managed to hold Shawns attention and even have Shawn decide to full send it's destruction. This however was a mistake and one Astrid was going to capitalize on as much as possible in this situation. She just needed to play her hand a bit carefully since she quickly realized she wasn't noticed at the moment. A bit confusing for her but she'd take it.



Thus she threw the other sigil out to land quietly behind Shawn, not even a foot behind him. Then in a moment Astrid teleported behind him. But this wasn't the only thing happening, Astrid was mid process of summoning her next companion, this one would be canine hollow and it's summon was a good bit more violent than her previous summons creation. The flower blossomed and broke apart same as before but then subsequently created the hollow head and body in mid bite attack. With Shawn mid electrocution of her minion he'd be more than a good bit distracted and find it hard to dodge the canine's jaws which were currently tearing into his right shoulder. Teeth to bone in an instant and then with all it's strength it would rip Shawn off the ground throw him up and subsequently slam him down on his back.



The canine however in the process would not let go, even going so far as to step over Shawn and onto his other shoulder claws digging in. Not that Astrid would want him to let go. Shawn clearly was capable of doing magic while his hands were banged up. Hell he was fighting pretty well through it even. Astrid just needed to continue keeping him in pain until eventually he couldn't fight and then he'd be easy pickings. The question was how to do that. And given her current summons predicament it likely wasn't going to be of any use. Thus she willed it away and within seconds it turned into sakura petals and found its place yet again on her tree shrub on her back. Still she didn't feel comfortable with Shawn around and alive for that matter while she had only one spirit assisting her so she pulled from within a spirit that Shawn would be familiar with.



A fellow shinigami. She smiled wide as a dark purple flower bud sprang open on the wisteria vines of her tree. From here same as the other flowers before it the petals blew off and then piled up on Shawns left side before creating a fellow shinigami. Although he looked incredibly different, one might even go so far as to say corrupted. His entire visage was purple hued with his eyes being bright purple lights and his skin tone being dark purple. The form was ethereal like a ghost as far as the human world was concerned and even on the skin were dark veins that looked like they pumped a purple substance. It said nothing as it looked at Shawn simply staring him down before drawing it's zanpakuto and aiming it into his right shoulder, a little bit closer to the neck to ensure the canine didn't have to focus on weighing him down entirely.



Thus with Shawn pinned and hopefully unable to move Astrid had to admit she felt a smidge safer though she was still on high alert. Shawn's magic could mean he could do a lot with it. Or rather a lot more. He had rope. Lightning. Some thing thing that looks like long strands of hair. And he teleported. Seriously he had the whole package. At least as far as Astrid was concerned. But she couldn't be certain he didn't have something else in store for her so she had to be careful thus she took a step back and stared at him. Waiting for something to happen. If it did she'd immediately teleport away given she didn't need line of sight for her sigils. And since both were within 60 feet, one being less than a foot away and the other being 40 feet away she was golden.

This time the wisp was much easier for Shawn to take care of, apparently Hainawa is the way to go for this batlle. If only it was that easy, due to his current senses he didn't even notice the plant thing teleport close by. In fact it wasn't until after he heard the canine begin to form that he realized the creature was right there. Suffice it to say Shawn was currently in quite a pickle as he just wasn't able to react fast enough to avoid the oncoming attack. Well, at least he wasn't able to avoid completely.



As the canine starts to clamp down on his right shoulder, there was only one thing Shawn could think of to avoid an even worse situation. The problem is he was about to go through a whole lot more pain. Before the canine fully bites into his shoulder he does the only thing he could think off, using Shunpo Shawn moves at 500 speed backwards thus escaping the jaws of the canine, but only at a steep cost. As he moved backwards he could feel as the teeth of the Hollow like creature began being dragged through his shoulder, in other words he escaped by ripping a good portion of his shoulder off.



Landing in his new spot about twenty feet back, Shawn drops to one knee for a moment. Not only were his hands currently hurting horribly due to the major bruising and swelling, now his right shoulder was giving sharp pangs of pain as his unprotected muscular systems in that shoulder are now open to the world. At this point he was barely holding on to his concentration, using the fight as a means to try and forget about this awful pain. The sad thing is nothing he can do right now will get his mind off of the misery he currently feels by much.



It would be at this moment he notices yet another thing be summoned, this time causing his blood to go cold. The thing summoned this time looked like a Shinigami, granted with with a complexion of purple saying he was long since dead. What does this mean for Shawn? Two wisp things, ok, not to abnormal. A Canine Hollow, a little bit more to worry about. A long since dead male Shinigami, now I think I understand, but I really hope I'm wrong. What was this thought about that rushed through Shawn's head? He might have just figured out how the Creature's summon power worked and oh boy does he hope to be wrong. If he isn't wrong then this thing kills someone or something and then takes the soul of it, using the soul as a messed up summon.



Standing back up Shawn stares straight into the eyes of Astrid, "Now I know you must be sent to Hell, there's no way something like this can go unpunished." With his feeling essentially stated he raises his left hand-- as he probably can't lift his right arm up much right now-- and points it toward the newly formed Shinigami. Bakudo #4: Hainawa, with that mentally cast he sends out yet another rope, this time aimed at the Shinigami. While this is happening Shawn would begin to circle them going counter clockwise.

Astrid growled to herself for thinking it would be so easy. Of course Shawn would teleport out of the way. That's what she'd do even because teleporting meant that she'd avoid the attack outright. However when the man reappeared her eyes widen as she saw his right shoulder was damaged. She tilted her head and narrowed her eyes in confusion. How? He. . . moved away. . . What? She was genuinely confused was he not doing the same things as those in hell did? Even moderately powerful saika opened portals. Hason had sigils and akki had straight up teleportation. Was this not normal for races? And if not then just what was Shawn doing? Astrid couldn't figure that out but she knew from the fact her canine had managed to tear through his shoulder regardless it was lesser than the movements she was used to.



Still he'd escaped regardless so it must be useful to some degree. The real question however was how would she deal with him now? She had yet another spirit out to aid her but she was feeling that sluggishness again. This was not something she liked. It felt like she had a limiter on her. A limiter she was not fond of, especially because she had to wonder would having more forces be better to use in this situation? But even still she managed to almost debilitate Shawn with just 2 alone. So perhaps this was another "tactic" where she didn't overwhelm with numbers alone. She wasn't certain though it definitely wasn't her preference but she could admittedly see that things were a good bit on her side. Though most of that was due to the shinigami hitting her outright at the beginning.



She still had no idea what cutback was nor why it worked to her benefit. She'd have to ask Alastor or, and heaven forbid, Orobas. Hmmm. . . Maybe even Arma given he was a talker. Maybe he knew what happened. Astrid frowned as much as her plant body would allow her given she had grown steadily less fond of him. He was in a word, a wimp. Passive almost a pacifist and confusing. She had no idea why Orobas had even wanted him around because it truly seemed like he was only a detriment. Especially with how much he talked. Good lord Astrid could feel herself getting more angry from that alone. Always the talking. And talking. And talking. Regardless she shook her head and focused back on the shinigami before her. He was talking too however it was short and sweet but what he said caused her tendrils to wriggle angrily.



She felt bipolar, even if she didn't know what that meant, given how she kept switching from anger to amazement to wonder to then immense frustration and ultimately back to anger. This was only getting worse by the moment. What did this man know of hell? Even this place, this frankly dilapidated place was a great deal better than most of hell. Barring the random realm of Limbo where it was something akin to a paradise comparatively given the beasts there didn't attack anyone there but those who weren't supposed to be present. But he was talking to HER like he knew what hell was like and that he was the authority on the matter. And that pissed her the fuck off. Enough that even despite her loud growling, which was inherent when she started to get pissed off, she decided to speak to him.



"Hell? How would. . . you know of it? . . .You kill. . . take. . . and live here. . . Better place than hell! YOU deserve hell . . . YOU ALL deserve hell! I've seen it. . . lived there. . . YOU KNOW NOTHING!" With this screech she ordered the two summons to attack with the shinigami going to Shawns left and the canine heading towards him dead on. Astrid in the meantime noticed her sigils had broken and thus quickly drew up two in rapid succession. One that flew into her chest cavity and the other that had flown up to her right hand. She wasn't going to deal with this arrogant fuck any longer if she could help it. If Shawn wanted to know what claim he'd send her back then he was welcome to try. If anyone was going to hell it'd be Shawn via the hold of her canine hollow. He'd experience it for himself if she could manage it.



Moving back to the summons however the shinigami quickly realized that Shawn was going to cast a kido. Having been around kido in it's prior life it wasn't much a stretch to know what was happening. The only issue was that he didn't know what kido it was but upon seeing rope form he quickly jumped and rolled to the side ensuring the rope missed entirely. This did give Shawn about 5 more feet to work with meaning the summon was about 10 feet from him now given Shawn was running. However this meant that Shawn who had been focused on the shinigami spirit now had the canine hollow upon him at at his right and if he wasn't careful or didn't dodge he'd be full body tackled into the ground.



Astrid however for once was watching her minions attack him and attempting to scheme. She had her sigils ready and Shawn was well within her range so she sluggishly ran up between the shinigami and the canine she'd summoned to ensure she had visibility on him. She wouldn't catch up, she simply wasn't that fast. But she could keep an eye out for what was going on and when the time was right she'd strike. She wasn't going waste any time doing anything else. She would strike as fast and as hard as her body would allow her. She just needed to get in and managed it assuming the right moment appeared. For now though she was simply trying to figure out how to manage her summons well and ensure they didn't trapped again or be forced to take a solid hit like her prior summons had.

Apparently Shawn's statement struck a nerve for the thing ACTUALLY started to form words, "Hell? How would. . . you know of it? . . .You kill. . . take. . . and live here. . . Better place than hell! YOU deserve hell . . . YOU ALL deserve hell! I've seen it. . . lived there. . . YOU KNOW NOTHING!" That's when it ordered the Canine and the Shinigami to attack him, the Shinigami going to Shawn's left and the Canine to his right.



Well, he almost caught the Shinigami summon in his Bakudo, but he clearly still has some form off knowledge stemming for his past. Before the Hainawa could land home the Shinigami summon rolled out of the path of the Bakudo causing it to miss entirely, thankfully it did roll in a direction forming more space between it and Shawn. Thus giving Shawn a moment to glance at the ... currently charging Canine, I reeeeeally need to hone my senses, if I don't my senses will probably get me killed.



Flicking his only usable hand towards the Canine, Shawn lets loose another mentally casted Bakudo #4: Hainawa as the thing was lunging at him mouth wide open for another bite. If everything works out correctly the rope would strike the dog Hollow in the muzzle causing that to be the first thing tied shut before it worked it's way done the Hollow summons body. It was only a second, but Shawn was able to catch a glimpse of that plant thingy. Thinking quickly he turns his head away to throw off suspicion, after all this thing didn't seem to be completely stupid, before mentally casting a Hado #4: Byakurai towards where he noticed it.



There's a chance the Byakurai would miss, after all he wasn't looking at it and the thing could move so Shawn turned his attention quickly back on the Shinigami summon. "I'm sorry your in this state, hopefully you may find true rest soon and your soul be set free." Saying this Shawn used Shunpo, not to get away from anyone or anything but instead aimed to land behind the imprisoned soul.



Without a moment to lose Shawn quickly flicks his throbbing but still useful hand to face the Soul Reaper summon, Mentally casting another Hainawa before the poor thing notices he is there. If that worked the Hainawa rope would connect to the summon directly in the middle of his back before slithering it's way both up and down simultaneously. Allowing the summoned Shinigami to hit the ground, Shawn touched the summons cloak before raising his hand having created a Class 8 Advanced Air Arsenal: Air String that created a connection between the two. "May you find peace soon", with that he would cast Hado #11: Tsuzuri Raiden and keep the lightning going until the Summon was gone.



Anger in his eye's Shawn would push past his exhaustion and pain and turn his gaze to first make sure the canine was entangled before finding the monstrosity that could do such a horrid thing. If Astrid was still around he would start berating her with the truth he has come to know, "What do I know of Hell? I deserve Hell? I earned my place here, I struggled through life knowing that death wasn't the end. I did everything I could to ensure my siblings who died with me would accompany me here, yet I STILL haven't found them. Have you ever lost someone you loved, knowing they died because you weren't strong enough to protect them!? Or after doing everything you can to find them but failing!? No, you were sentenced to Hell for causing pain and misery gleefully, maybe you even thought hurting someone was what you needed to do. No, I don't deserve Hell, and I'm certain that's where YOU belong now!"

Astrid's anger blinded her some and while she was doing her absolute best not to lose herself to it she failed. This was most notable when she didn't warn her canine companion of the inevitable spell. The poor thing managed to get wrapped up in the rope it summoned. The hollow struggled for a good bit but ultimately found the rope too tight and that alone made Astrid's tendrils wriggle. She was losing her pack to this shinigami's magic. And she wasn't capable of doing much in and of herself. She was, as always, incredibly weak. And it was this feeling that was constantly reminded by everyone around her. Nothing she could do on her own would help her or her pack. It was always someone else she had to rely on. Something else that could manage a task for her. And that continued to eat away at her immensely.



Thus when Shawn decided to focus his attention elsewhere Astrid decided she needed to help at least the hollow. Her shinigami spirit was going to have to manage for the meantime. Besides he was a former shinigami surely he could do something. Speaking of shinigami though Astrid finally came back from her thoughts and noticed there was a lightning bolt coming her way. With a growl she threw out a sigil next to her hound and immediately teleported over to him. Thankfully the most she got was a very light singe on her shoulder and that just because she'd almost been hit by the damn thing since she was losing herself in her mind. Speaking of her mind she was starting to get a serious headache. And not like any old headache this was the mother of them. It must have been her anger getting to her because nothing else made sense at this moment.



Regardless with the attack dodged and her enemy distracted she had a brief window to attempt to aid her hollow companion. But what could she do? Just a simple clawing at it made it very evident Astrid couldn't break it on her own. Thus she had to make an executive decision, she needed help. She needed her summon that wasn't going to be this limited to physical combat. She needed the serpent hollow. Thus with a quick glance at her shinigami spirit that was currently getting trapped in Hainawa Astrid decided it was done for. One could be saved but not both. So she willed it to return to her while she called forth for the other hollow. This hollow bloomed out of one of her white sakura blossoms and within an instant found its 10 foot long 3 feet thick self brought out. Astrid nodded to the rope.



It simply reached down and sprayed some stomach acid on it and eat through the rope in seconds. In the meantime given the other spirit was returned to her she knew Shawn would be on her ass in a moment or two. And thust quickly wrapped herself around her serpent and ordered it to fly into the air. A couple flaps and it was rising up to 20 feet above the area. More than enough to ensure Shawn would have a difficult time following, assuming he even could. Astrid didn't want to assume the worst but nothing right now spoke to anything less than him having SOME means of getting up here with her. Meanwhile for her canine companion she ordered it to continue to attack and distract Shawn. Astrid and her newest mount ensure his demise without delay.



The canine shaking off the last remnants of the rope would immediately begin running to him. However Shawn had noticed what was going on and had started speaking to her. Well more like yelling at her. And as he continued Astrid's headache got worse. And worse. And worse. Until he finally tried to call her out by asking if she'd ever failed to protect someone or something that she cared about and that's when the headache peaked and subsequently brought her back to another time, memories from her past life. Vague but infinitely clearer than before and so right in her face that she was surprised she'd ever forgotten. She couldn't imagine how she forgot them. All of them. The pack of hollows she called a family and her parent. Eridrox.



For a moment it was like she was there. The forest far far FAR away from here. Deep in the wilderness of the Rukongai. In fact she now understood where she was at because of it. This was the Soul Society and this was the shitty Rukongai. Not where she was at but closer than she'd liked to have admit. But the forest she died in. She could see it. She saw her hollow family members being slain one by one. Blades cutting through their limbs. Blood being shed over the grass. And the screams of her family. Masks broken. Bodies disintegrating into nothing. Energy at best. But they'd never return. And then there was Eridrox such a mighty and large gorilla hollow yet even he was battered. Bruised. One arm useless while the other barely wanted to function and he was littered in cuts all over. Even had a crack in his mask.



And in order to save her from being a fool and getting impaled he'd taken the blade of the vice captain. It was through his heart. He was dead on contact and then THROWN like trash. And thats when she remembered her screaming. It wasn't like her current iteration but it was loud. It was almost wailing. And she pure depth of anguish was there surrounding her. Choking her as all she could do was scream out. And just like that it was over. She had returned to the present.



Before Astrid realized it she was letting out tears of her own and all the prior rage exploded out of her in a scream that promised bloody murder. Her entire body was wriggling and tensing up. Even her ride was realizing that Astrid had never before been anything like this. She was utterly overwhelmed and utterly infuriated. HOW DARE HE assume that SHE didn't know what it was like to lose others. How do you think one gets to hell? By having a perfect life? Of course not, things happened and Astrid perhaps made a few wrong choices but she KNEW how it was to lose those close to you. And she wasn't going to stand for this FILTH telling HER how she DIDN'T know how to feel. And for once she was going to tell him EXACTLY what she thought and with the sudden clarity of mind it was that much easier to do so.



However that didn't stop her order to have the serpent immediately fly down while raining acidic artillery fire down on him. She wouldn't let him live after this. Not if she could help it. Meanwhile as her ride made haste to blast Shawn and the surrounding area of 10 feet near him with 4 blasts of stomach acid she screamed at him with a drastically more human voice than she'd managed prior. "YOU SHINIGAMI ALWAYS THINK YOUR THE ONLY ONES TO SUFFER! YOU WANT A SOB STORY GUESS WHO LOST THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY, THEIR PACK TO YOUR ILK!!! I DID! AND IT WAS YOUR KIND THAT KILLED THEM IN COLD BLOOD! EVEN THEN YOUR KIND STILL LECTURED OF YOUR MORALS AND RIGHTEOUSNESS!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT ITS LIKE TO LOSE EVERYTHING!!!



With a quick mental order she had her canine companion stop and encircle Shawn at about 15 feet away to ensure it didn't suffer any of the acid blasts. Meanwhile as the serpent finally made its way to Shawns air space Astrid produced two more sigils while canceling out her prior one from earlier. One went on the backside of each tendril hand. With the beast only 8 feet above Shawn she ordered it to fly down directly at him and slam into him. It complied and in the meantime released a breath of stomach acid to ensure Shawn got not only run over but melted down in the process. Astrid had never ordered for such a beings death but she'd make sure it happened now. He would NOT escape. She would take EVERYTHING from him. His limbs. His will. His siblings if she could EVER find them. She'd plunge him into the same despair and hell she'd endured for the last two centuries. And it all started now with this attack and Astrid's roar of pure unfilted rage and fury at this arrogant little shitstain of a person.

Stomach acid Shawns immediate area for 20 feet with one 5 foot orb having been launched at his spot specifically.

With his attention on Astrid he watches as she not only summons another creature, this one a winged snake, but also watch as the snake frees the Canine Hollow. With the Hollow summon free the plant creature wraps around the snake which soars up into the sky. At this point he begins his little speech, anger flaring and starting to push past his limit. Then what he get's in return is the creature begins wailing.



Shawn tries to bounce his attention between the Hollow summon and the Snake with the plant thing in the sky, barely paying the wailing any mind. Then, as if she wants to make him even more upset, she begins speaking completely coherently. "YOU SHINIGAMI ALWAYS THINK YOUR THE ONLY ONES TO SUFFER! YOU WANT A SOB STORY GUESS WHO LOST THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY, THEIR PACK TO YOUR ILK!!! I DID! AND IT WAS YOUR KIND THAT KILLED THEM IN COLD BLOOD! EVEN THEN YOUR KIND STILL LECTURED OF YOUR MORALS AND RIGHTEOUSNESS!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT ITS LIKE TO LOSE EVERYTHING!!!"



Following this outburst, the snake starts spewing what he can only assume to be stomach acid at Shawn. At this point he is far past his boiling point, giving his own shout of rage at the two creatures in the sky. Before the acid gets close to hitting him or the canine can rush him, Shawn begins running straight up and around the acid spit using Advanced air ground. Because of his highly decreased reiatsu pool, Before he doesn't have the energy to do much else he uses the anger to will himself on using Shunpo to vanish not far off of the ground.



Astrid at this point might be surprised, after all he used the elasticity of the Advanced Air Ground to boost himself even further than normal with his Shunpo. So where does he appear? right in front of Astrid standing on the head of the snake with his left hand already outstretched. Speaking a few final words while simultaneously mentally casting Byakurai, "How dare you assume I slay Hollows for sport." At the end of his words a beam of lightning would blast out of his swollen index finger pointed directly at the center of Astrid's head.



With that final action of casting that Kido, darkness falls on Shawn's eyes. While entering unconsciousness, he would hear the laughter of both his little sister and brother, the laughter he always heard while playing with them in there favorite field of flowers found in the country side of New York. Depending on the outcome of his last attack, Shawn would either fall directly on the snake in front of Astrid, or possibly even fall from whatever height they were onto and through one of the many rundown houses below.

Shawn surprised everyone present with his bold action. Running head on into the face of danger and outright avoiding the stomach acid blasts and breath attack outright. Even more impressively Shawn had managed to do something no one else had currently and that was land upon Astrid's own ride and stare her down. To say Astrid was shocked was an understatement however that didn't last for long as she didn't even bother listening to whatever filth he had to say. It was lies and slander as it was. Ignorant fucks on their high horse and now HE was on her ride. No. This wasn't going to do at fucking all. Thus Astrid did something even Shawn would never have suspected. She willed the beast away and subsequently had the both of them falling down to the ground below. But Astrid had a plan a simple one but one that would keep her from hitting the ground. She threw out a sigil below her not even a foot below and slammed onto it.

Her chest ached as she landed upon it but considering what happened to Shawn she could handle it. Though the wound in her right shoulder was much more aggravated now that she'd smashed it onto something hard. She immediately grabbed onto it and squeezed. That didn't really help but it did make her feel like she was doing something. A few moments later and she was able to pull herself up and stand on her sigil. And the sight she saw was beautful. Shawn had fallen face first into the ground below and while he didn't look like he broke anything he surely wasn't in any good state or condition. Those hands and his shoulder alone ensured that. Thus she had to wonder how much pain he'd be in once he woke up. She did something akin to chuckling, though it sounded like rocks grinding against one another.

Her anger was slightly, very slightly satiated. Still she wasn't completely content and with a loud growl she ordered her canine companion go over to Shawn and make sure he wasn't dead and that he'd stay down. The canine companion did so within a few moments and a small nod was what she got in response. She turned onto her back and just stayed on the sigil breathing a sigh of relief. She cared that he lived if only so she could make good on her promise to him. Not that she knew how she'd do it at this moment but she'd figure it out. For now though she needed to get down to the ground. But that was a simple matter. Using her alternate sigil she threw it onto the ground and teleported down. No more falling from above and so much easier than even trying to hop onto her mounts back.

Now that she was on the ground however she walked over to Shawn and stared down at him. Filth. Just wait til. . . I decide. Hell. . . is coming. For now she took her canine companion and ordered him to pick up Shawn. It didn't look pleased but it obeyed anyway. Which was good. Astrid was this close to willing it away also if it didn't want to listen. Still it didn't make Shawns life any better. It grabbed him by the lower arm and dragged him into the snowy forest with Astrid. Through which they walked for a good while until they got deeper inside it and eventually found a natural opening where it was just a snow covered plain where grass would be if it were buried. Astrid nodded to her beast and it threw Shawns body ahead of it.

This would be where Astrid enacted her plan. See on the way she had decided she would try something, given she had started to get a good bit more mental clarity. She assumed the sudden burst of memories was why but whatever the reason she could think and think without worry about the hunger for the time being. And that's when it had hit her. Alastor had always known in some way, shape, or form what was going on with Astrid. This meant he had to know what was going on now with her. Which made her wonder if he'd respond to her asking for him to do something. Like say open a door. This could have been tested in the Rukongai village but given people were there and Astrid wasn't certain which houses were abandoned she wasn't certain if he'd respond.

But here in the clearing? If he was watching he he'd do it. Thus with narrowed eyes and a look towards the sky and it's continuous snowfall she roared out. She'd not caught his name but she knew who he was. And if nothing else Astrid would only ever yell out the word akki to one person. And it sure as hell wasn't Orobas. Creepy fucker. Once she was done she waited for a moment to see if anything would happen. At first and fore what felt like a good few minutes nothing did. Silence was all that was in the groove and then there was a disturbance. The space near the center warped and suddenly cracked. Before her eyes two skeletal hands ripped open space and also ripped open a door. A door she was intimately familiar with. The gate to hell.

And what a curious choice Alastor had for Shawn. Enough that Astrid could think of no better place for someone like Shawn to go to. The seventh circle, Violence. But it wasn't the outskirts or her home turf. It was the innermost circle. The circle of violence against God. And it was so perfect for Shawn that Astrid couldn't have pictured a better place. So incredibly hot that even breathing in the air could give burns to the insides of ones lungs. And to make matters worse it was always raining there. Raining fire, hellfire, and so many other types of fire that even Astrid couldn't for the life of her wouldnt be able to describe it. But even if she didn't know everything about it she knew one thing. Shawn would never survive there. Scarely were there any sinners there given how surprisingly large the desert was. And the demons in that circle? Infinitely worse than the other two circles.

He'd experience hell and suffer for his own sins. The sins regarding his own "righteous" violence. Sure Astrid was not God. Nor would she ever be. But no god would allow one race to utterly genocide another would they? So if his god allowed it well. . . surely he must follow a false idol. And that alone was enough to get him into this circle. Without further delay Astrid had her summon throw Shawn into the gate and into the burning sands where he immediately started to cook just from coming in contact with it. And that's when it hit her she'd need to leave a calling sign. Thus she went to his right shoulder and bite directly into his flesh but didn't tear it out. She simply made a marking to ensure he'd know who sent him there. Not many hellions had as jagged and displaced of teeth as she did. But he saw her form. He'd know. And when he woke up he'd know who sent him there. Upon walking out and back to the Rukongai the door closed behind her.

She felt oddly satisfied at her condemning of Shawn. He was finally going to get punished like she had. Though at least he knew why he was getting punished. Astrid still couldn't remember why. And didn't understand why. Which honestly upset the mood as a whole. But that wouldn't matter. Astrid simply needed get back to the Rukongai and start feasting. She needed to find more shinigami afterall. They all needed to be punished. And she would find a way to ensure it happened. One way or another. But that would wait until she let her shoulder heal and she had a bit of rest. With a quick order she hopped onto her canine companion and walked back into the forest. The snow that had previously melted quickly piled over. Showing no signs of anything that occured that night. Not that it mattered. Shawn just like all who got condemned would be forgotten about. It was simply "Gods way" afterall and no one would argue that.
