-Basic Information-
Name: Holika
Age of Death/Damnation: 39/ 25,000
Birthday (Month/Day): Unknown
Blood Type: A-
RP Sample (Optional):
As Holika strolled across the plains of Tartarus, her black wings reflecting the light of the fires and the screams filled her ears, her ruined and boiling skin stretched on her face. She was attempting a smile, the skin seeming to unnaturally pull away from itself. Her skin appeared as if burned, fleshy pockets looking reflective as plastic splotched along her skin. Her talons on her feet clicked against the ground with each step she took, her eyes scanning the terrain around her for anything that moved in her presence. She was looking for someone or something to punish in order to pass the time. The thoughts of the unending pain she would inflict on the first unlucky soul to cross her path made her begin nibbling her bottom lip. She was anxious for it, needed the release from this boredom that prodded her mind from within and taunted her to find the right button to push.
When Holika first spotted a soul wandering the desolate plains of Tartarus her lips curled into a wicked smile and her eyes seemed to beam with the joy of a child on Christmas morning open to open their gifts wrapped underneath a tree. The soul had been trudging along, seeming to be an older man wrapped in extremely long black chains, as dark as the abyss itself, and holding him from moving much faster than a snail pace as he attempted to cross the fiery domain. As the man, unknowingly crossed Holika's path, she stomped her right foot into the ground in front of her, her talons digging into the dirt and propelling her forward at a breakneck speed. She lowered her body, crouching into the sprint as she threw herself towards her slow moving target.
As Holika neared the target, she would give a half jump on the final step, at approximately five feet to the left of the old man, so that she would have her knees at the level of this damned soul's neck. She would then spin her body about in the air, lifting her right leg up into her body, bending it at the knee and almost having the back of her foot graze the chainmail covering her buttocks, the long ends at her front and back of the chainmail spinning with her and splaying outwards to reveal the metal undergarment covering her crotch and buttocks. She would finish the spin with a powerful kick, making her leg unbend at the knee and became straight and horizontal with the ground as she aimed to kick the old soul in the side of the head.
This would possibly incapacitate her target and leave him quite easily dumbfounded if her kick connected to the side of his head. The force of her kick would also possibly send this poor old soul flying from her and splayed on the ground, waiting for her next move. She preferred to make her targets dazed and confused at what possibly just happened to them before explaining her purpose. She would let them know that she was there to punish them and make them regret their existence in Hell. And that she would find them again and again, hunting them every time they revived until she became bored with their screams and found no knew ways to make them suffer at her hands. And her smile grew wider as she attempted her kick on the old soul, the thoughts of pain crossing her mind.

-Appearance-
Height/Weight: 5’8’’ 155 lbs.
Physical Description:
Holika stands at six feet tall, has the hair of burning red and amber, and the eyes of blood red in the pupils. Her skin is marred with burns, looking like the flesh stretches in odd ways, pockets of pinker flesh with a plastic shine blotting all over her body. Her hair even looks to be slightly singed, the ends of her hair follicles extremely dry and splitting wildly. Her body is very thin, looking as if the bones within might burst from her at any moment.
Holika tends to dress on the lighter side, having what looks to be a metallic bra on her chest and a half chainmail shirt, exposing her midsection to view. Where her ribs are, the length of them look to be poking out of her skin and might tear through Holika’s flesh at any moment. Her belly button does not exist, a massive burn mark existing there and seeming to have leftover bubbles around where the belly button once existed.
For the lower half of her body Holika sports an iron clad under piece and a chainmail skirt, short on the sides to her mid thigh and long down to her ankles in the front and back of her body. The chainmail seems to be made of silver, glimmering in the firelight of Hell as she passes through Tarturus. Holika’s thighs also seem to have little to no muscle mass, looking as though to be more like stilts attached to her body and the lower half of her legs.
Her hands and feet are also scarred like the rest of her body, looking extremely thin and bone-like as well. Her fingernails are sharpened, looking an unnatural black as if burned at the tips and smoky gray to the root. Her toe nails have a similar coloring, however the toenails have changed to look more like the talons of a bird. The feet also have a talon in the back of heel, jutting out in a most painful looking attire, just stopping before stabbing back into the bottom backs of her feet.
Upon Holika’s back are a set of withered and seemingly unusable wings, made of a metal that has been fused to her body and melted into her back. They are shriveled and clutch close to her sides, the metal sharp and looking painful to touch as they stab slightly into her sides. The metal of the feathers, as they stab into her sides, cause black ichor like oil to spill out of her body, dripping against the ground as she walks. The area around where her wings sprout from her back has split the skin between them, exposing her spinal column and showing the bones as blackened as if lit aflame before.
As well on her neck are two prongs that stab out from the sides, pointing towards the sky as they bend out from her body. The metal as well looks to be silver in nature, gleaming slightly when reflected upon with a light. The skin upon her face is very thin and pulled against her skull, making her eyes looking sunken and dangerously close to popping out of her eye sockets. Holika's eyes also have a cross pattern for pupils, black and piercing with her stare.
Holika’s arms and legs follow the same fashion as the rest of her body, marked completely with burn scars and thin, showing the bone beneath with ease. Her elbows look like they have points with the skin being so tight against her frame. The wrists, having chains from hell wrapped around them look as though the chains may fall off at any moment, the thin appearance looking as if the chains could never be tied tight enough to her to be truly secure.
Holika has a hollow hole in the center of her chest, between her cleavage. Most people never actually see this as her upper body is covered in her chainmail and solid metal coverings as well as the size of the hole being problematic for one to see it. The hollow hole for Holika is about five centimeters in radius and goes through to her back, also covered in her chainmail and solid metal coverings. Holika prefers to not let anyone know about where her hollow hole is present as it would show that she is not perfect.
Holika's legs have also been bent unnaturally, bending backwards instead of the traditional forward bending of a human. Her legs look more akin to that of a bird's, allowing her to perch upon edges and other small landings while she oversees the suffering of the damned in her territory. Holika's teeth looking like a row of razors, all pointed sharp and concealing a secret behind them. Her tongue, hidden behind the razor tipped fangs that line her entire jaw on both upper and bottom half of her mouth, is twelve inches long and forked, looking like that of a snake's.

-Personality-
Dislikes:
Cold: Holika will attempt to avoid any cold spot and destroy anything creating cold air in her vicinity.
Judgement: Holika believes that she has done nothing wrong or has any need to explain why she did what she did.
Penance: Admitting your faults in Holika’s presence only causes disdain and hate from her. If you were a powerful being like her, you would own what you did and be proud of it.
Water/moisture: For obvious reasons, Holika detests the sight of water or moisture condensating. Out of self preservation Holika will attempt to remove all traces of moisture and water from around her.
Trickery: Holika detests those who attempt to use wit to avoid the punishments they deserve or even just to outwit her for the fun of it. Holika responds with rage and pain being her favorite weapons.
Stoicism: Holika hates those who endure her punishments without showing the pain they are suffering. To look at her while suffering in such ways while refusing to show her the pain she is lavishly handing out will cause explosive rage.
Kindness: Holika refuses to show basic kindness and to have it given to her insults her very being and position. She will lash out and show it to be the weakness that it is.
Cowardice: Holika has no place around her being for such weakness as cowardice. To not face your punishment is beneath all beings and she will drag you to your torture if she must. It will simply be worse for cowardly behavior.
Saika: These beings are beneath Holika, the lowest of the low among those in hell. They serve at her beck and call and should never raise their heads to meet her eyes, as long as they enjoy where the heads currently are.
Likes:
Heat: The hotter, the better. Holika enjoys the touch of flames and curls into such things against her skin. The hotter the source, the more Holika will enjoy their presence. She’s even been known to purchase space heaters when amongst the living.
Cruelty: When Holika isn’t dealing the punishment she enjoys seeing the cruelty produced on the souls of the damned around her. If one can produce enough pain in a soul they can find a place by Holika’s side.
Masochism: Seeing someone enjoy the pain she delivers is not a bad thing in Holika’s eyes. As long as they receive the pain and show that they are receiving it, Holika will enjoy it along with them.
Straight Forward Attitudes: Someone who speaks plainly and shows their intentions is much more received by Holika then a trickster. Trying to use wisdom or smarts to outwit your opponent is rude and undeserving of praise in Holika’s eyes.
Misery: Holika enjoys seeing those in their dire straits and deep moments of anguish. Seeing them stuck in this state makes her pause in adoration, soaking in the view and soaking in the scene.
Comeuppance: Holika enjoys the sight of those getting exactly what they deserve, especially after they have been boasting about themselves. Receiving it may not bring her joy, but it doesn’t actually infuriate her to receive her just desserts.
Hot Sauce: Holika enjoys the burning sensation and taste of crushed peppers mixed with liquid known as the greatest invention, in her opinion, Hot Sauce. She has preferences in the types that exist, however the hotter the better. For those who may come to visit her it might be best to bring a bottle to get her to warm up to you.
Fire: Holika is entranced and enamored with the flame, having become the only thing that can possibly distract her from any other thoughts. To witness a fire engulf a soul is the most exciting thing that Holika can imagine.
Flaws:
Vanity: Everyone is beneath Holika. Who are you to ask why? Pitiful. However she will answer this question, as she is the mistress of punishment, doling out the needed acts of pain and suffering that the souls of the damned need. Holika will do anything to look different from her base sinner form.
Moisture Aversion: Holika cringes at the sight of moisture, fearing the effect of water to her body. When around most water related terrains or thick moisture in the air she becomes very cautious and avoids combat.
Hubris: Holika believes that she is truly better than almost everyone. Shewould only be able to say almost as she recognises and lusts after the superior Lucifer. However, she does think that everyone else, especially in Hell is beneath her and a waste of her time other than to inflict the appropriate punishment upon them.
Enraged: Holika has a short temper and even shorter leash on her patience. If she does not understand a concept or ability from an ally, she will easily become frustrated and look to punish anyone nearby that she can. If it comes from an opponent however she may charge in without regard to self safety and instead berserk upon them. This has led to past failures of which Holika discounts as being the fault of her rage.
Habits:
Lust for Pain: Holika, when witnessing the pain in another, bites her lower lip and chews on it slightly. To witness true pain and suffering is enough to get Holika fairly excited. To see them grovel further in the pain will warm her engines.
Punishing: Whenever Holika becomes frustrated she intends to take it out on the nearest being to her person. In the absence of such a target Holika has been known to dig her weapons into her own body, a self punishment in replacement of a nearby sinner.
Abstinence: Holika would never indulge herself in carnal pleasure, with the exception of Lucifer if he ever made an attempt on her. She also does not drink alcohol as she sees it as a habit beneath her. At the sight of it she would throw alcohol from her person and scowl at the one presenting such an awful beverage.
Fears:
Lucifer: Holika has seen Lucifer angry, stifling her own in the process and as such knows that he is not a being to test. If it were not for her fear, Holika would have attempted to take the throne from Lucifer and changed the lake of ice into a hot spring by now. As such, she remains devotedly loyal to Lucifer, refusing to face his wrath.
Goals:
Manifest Cruelty: Holika wishes to see all souls suffer in the fiery pits of Hell. To have them all wriggle beneath her boots and grovel at the licking of her flames. She wishes to see all realms in this position as none can be above her rule or cruelty with but one exception. This may even one day look to take over Hell, but seeing as she loves Lucifer it would not extend to the removal of his body from his throne, but instead see the creation of a throne beside him. Hell would have a Queen, powerful and terrible and all would bow in her presence next to their Dark Lord.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Aspect of Hell: Hellfire
Overall Personality:
Holika has a fiery personality, if you can pardon the pun. When she faces any individual that is not Lucifer she has already decided that they are beneath her and not worthy of Lucifer’s time nor more than the necessary amount of time from her. Those that cannot stand within her aura in Saisei Oni are just cowards and weaklings and those that can are fools tormenting themselves for no good reason and are therefore too unintelligent for her to spend too much time on them.
When in a rage, Holika has been found to equate to a volcanic explosion of emotions and acts accordingly. For example, when one damned soul told her that she was not fit to lick his boot she immolated him a total of five hundred and sixty two times in order to make the point that he had no chance of ever defeating her and that he should avoid her presence at all costs. The term vengeance does not fit Holika when she does such things to the insolent and foolish as it is not personal to her in her mind, it is the natural order.
Holika has been known to hate the cold to a degree that deserves special attention when observing such a moment. Holika does not just hate the cold, she avoids the cold like a plague rat that has invited several other rats of varying sizes to a party and they have been in all of the cups and have offered you a drink. In instances against enemies who command an element of water or ice, Holika will show her distinct disdain for them in both insults and fighting against them with everything she has.
Holika does enjoy cooked foods and hot sauce when it has been offered to her. In fact, she has been known to give denizens of Hell leniency when they bring offerings of tasty cooked dishes that are hot and a certain brand of hot sauce to her. Holika even makes trips outside of Hell when a pepper tasting convention occurs and will attempt to compete with living participants and if she cannot join in she will tamper with the peppers. She does not see this as underhanded or using wit to defeat these fools, instead it is just showing them their just deserts for not giving her a place amongst the tasting of such delights.
When it comes to free will Holika fully believes that anyone has the right to such an ability of the mind and has the right to choose their fate. However, she also states that the choices are between one torture and another when she faces a victim of her wrath. To have free will is an obvious basic right but her own free will supersedes those that do not have the power to oppose her. She will not hesitate to attack and immolate those that do not agree with her until they beg for the chance to agree.
Secretly, Holika wishes to find someone who would look upon her base form and find beauty within it. She would never admit it out loud but the burns and scars upon her make her feel less than, as if they are a false shame upon her body and soul. To find someone who might love her despite these scars is actually a desire she denies to even herself and can be found flirting with damned souls that might look like an average human, or as close to one that they can get. And even though she may fear Lucifer, his beauty has drawn out her flirtatious side more than once.
Holika prefers to fight rather than talk in almost all instances. She's not really a planner or tactician by any means, and so does not dicuss plans for long scale battles but instead prefers to fight on the front line of a large sclae battle. She may lead a legion but that does not mean that she must employ a strategy of leading from the back of a battle. She instead leads by example, showing that her legions should inflict personal punishment on their enemies beside her.
Holika also prefers to hide her natural form from sight, preferring to use a gigai that shows her in the image she prefers the world around her to see. Her burned skin, her forked tongue, her shriveled wings, and her bird like legs are marks of shame to Holika, being constant reminders that she is a sinner from hell. She'd rather look like a gleaming angel of punishment, judging the wicked and delivering the tortures they deserve. If one were to point out her flaws, especially her natural form if they saw it, they may find themselves in a world of tortures and pain.
In Holika's down time Holika she continues her job, even requested not to, by torturing the souls of the damned. She takes great pleasure in randomly picking a sinner in her domain or even other domains of hell and inflicting great pain upon their bodies. She prefers never to relax and instead try and show Lucifer that she is worthy of his time and presence by doing a good job. This further reflects on how she sees herself as not one of the damned but instead that she is mistakenly in Hell and is instead, Like Lucifer, there for a purpose beyond being punished.

-Powers-
Fighting Style:
When in her base form Holika fears no army or man and will take any challenge as they come. She has a bravado that causes her to launch forth into battle, attack with her bare hands and legs, punching and kicking wildly against her opponents with a fury and a blind rage. Hell hath no fury like Holika when someone challenges her and deems them strong enough to handle her with ease. She is not however above using improvised weapons.
By improvised weapons this means anything Holika may get her hands on in order to batter her opponents with them. If there are rocks, she will throw rocks in order to slam into the forehead of her opponent. She will even be known to hold them in her hands and smash them into her opponent. If there is a chair leg present, she will use it like a bat or even a poking stick, jabbing it into her opponent’s body in order to throw them off guard or just damage them in general. Anything is fair game in a fight as the only fair fight is the one you win.
The only exception to the above rule is that Holika will not stoop to cheap tricks in order to gain the upper hand against her opponents. She will not attempt to blind her opponent with loose dirt or sand as blinding your opponent in such a way is beneath her. She also refuses to try and use words in order to trick her opponent. One can take Holika at her word when she speaks, especially in a fight. Trying to outwit your opponent or convince them of a peaceful solution only means you are a coward in Holika’s eyes. Only a coward might try and convince someone to not fight as it’s obvious to Holika that they were picking a fight they should have known they could not win.
In base form however, Holika prefers to fight with the chains attached to her arms, unfurling them and using them in multiple different ways. Holika can use her chains to entrap her opponent, wrapping them in these chains and causing them to be the ball at the end of her chain. Holika may swing the opponent around at this point, bashing them into structures or the ground in an attempt to make them dazed and confused. She may pull them in while entrapped and begin beating them with their arms and legs confined to their body and unable to defend against her.
Another way that Holika uses her chains to whip at her opponent as if she were a lion tamer. She will lash them against her opponent’s bodies, aiming mostly for the back of her opponent while doing this in order to cause the most pain possible. When usually using her chains in such a way it is because her opponent is obviously far beneath her in power and obviously is not worth entrapping in order to beat. She will laugh at and humiliate her opponents in such situations and, if not a being from Hell, simply let them go after a thorough lashing.
When entering into Saisei Oni form Primera, Holika has seen a challenge worthy of fighting her with significant power. When in this form Holika takes on two large swords and has several unique ways of using them. By causing them to become aflame she increases the deadliness of her blades and intending to make her opponent suffer. She will also use her Burning Body technique in order to defend against her opponent while also taunting her opponent to enter into her aura of Hellfire. When using her blades while aflame she will also aim to set the environment on fire in order to bring further fear to her opponent.
At Segunda form Holika has most likely decided that her opponent is worth destroying and has either become infuriated or irrationally calm. Her blades having melted and become chains from hell, she will use these chains as if they are whips. Cracking them against her opponent’s bodies is her most basic form of attack with these chains but she shows true skill when using them in conjunction with her Hellish Whips technique. By causing small explosions either on or around her opponents she hopes to quickly disorient them and cause a great amount of damage to their hearing and body.
Her stare has also become a weapon, igniting this upon opponents who threaten to get too close to her or grab the whips that she is using in this form. By causing flamethrowers from her eyes, if the opponent comes too close or decides to stay in one place they have guaranteed a painful existence for themselves. She may even use this technique against groups of opponents, deciding that they all must burn beneath her stare. Holika has also been known to set the environment around herself and her opponents aflame, knowing she is impervious to her own flames.
Her techniques from her Primera form have also grown stronger, remaining within her repertoire and she has been known to use these techniques in Segunda form. No tool is useless no matter how powerful she has become or the form she has decided to use. And she will gleefully find new ways to use these techniques in conjunction together in order to bring hellish pain upon those who decide they are worthy of facing Holika in combat.
While manifesting Holika’s Trecera form, she usually has taken on a much more defensive stance and position, more than likely having been pushed back to such a state. Holika will rely upon her techniques from before, more heavily on her Burning body, Hellfire aura, and Burning Stare as they have further grown in power and provide her with the ability to be a much more defensive fighter.
She also uses her technique Hellzone Mines in order to keep a greater distance from her opponent or set a line of explosives around her. By doing this she may further keep a distance from her opponents while also threatening to damage them immensely should they push an offensive against her while fighting defensively. This is usually done with her weapons, flinging these mines around and even directly towards her opponents in order to keep them at bay and away from attacking her directly.
Another technique she uses in this form is Flocking Flares, a more long to medium distance technique. She will use this in conjunction with her mines, having possibly pushed them back to keep them at the required distance for this technique. The explosions are very volatile and dangerous, the concussive forces from both techniques being dangerous for Holika, even if she does not fear the flames produced from them. By firing her explosive feathers at her opponents she attempts to hit them while they are pushed back and possibly finish the fight in a quicker fashion.
In her final form, the Cuartra Etapa, Holika has abandoned all idea that this opponent is not her equal. She recognises that they are powerful enough to rival her and has at this point decided to go all out with the Hellfire within her. All of her techniques now inflict the same damage as her Hellfire aura and she will use this in order to damage her opponent in a brutal way. By using their own bodies as an origin point for her Hellfire to spout out, she hopes to confuse her opponent while they suffer from the flames.
Of her two new techniques in her repertoire, her least favorite is the Eruption Button technique. This technique is only to be used when an opponent is in close and overwhelming her with their strikes, causing her to show a slight panic and the need to end the fight quickly. When using this technique she exposes her body, removing the natural armor of her basalt skin, making it a very risky move for her to use and knows that she will take additional damage without this armor on her body.
The other technique Holika has in this form is also very final and can be very dangerous for groups of enemies as well as an individual opponent. When she uses Rain Hellfire, she summons two thousand caltrops coated in her Hellfire, aiming to cover the entire area around her in them on the ground and while falling from the sky, as the origin point is actually shot into the air before exploding into these small weapons. Holika, after using this ability, will usually take advantage of the new dangers for her opponent(s), aiming to either make them lose track of the small objects and step on them or simply lift them into the air with her massive metallic wings, pulling both her and an individual opponent into the air and then slamming them down into a grouping of the caltrops.
Saisei Oni Overall Ability:
This ability only takes affect when Holika releases into Saisei Oni. Holika’s overall ability centers around the suffering that flame and steel can bring to the body in Tartarus. The agonies and screams that come from such tortures excite her and bring the blood rushing throughout her body. This is shown through her wings of black steel, lighting up on the edges with almost pure white flames burning along them. The heat wafting off of these feathers reaches upwards of 2,500 Kelvin, easily enough to melt through most metals and rock.
Holika’s skin also mimics this theme, as it grows darker and begins cracking, showing a glowing red and orange beneath, dark and pulsating in the cracks of her skin. Her skin mimics the rock basalt where it is not cracked, a dark black with speckles of a light grey almost white smattering about her body. Her own fire and heat cannot harm her however fire coming from another source is another story. She also exudes an aura of hellfire from the cracks within her skin, decimating most low level beings that approach her.
The aura reaches outwards by ten feet and scorches the soul. Those that remain within the aura for more than a single post will feel their skin begin to blister. Remaining within this aura for more than two posts will cause such blisters to begin to burst and begin pouring out a black ichor that has the smell of sulfur. Remaining for even one more post will cause the ichor to burst into hell fire, threatening to consume the being. The flames take on the color of black at its center and bleed outwards reaching an ultra violet purple. Once the ichor bursts and the hellfire is fed the target will suffer double damage from OS attacks. This effect takes up one of her Long-Term stat boosts upon usage.
Those with a superior OS to Holika’s highest Spiritual Stat are able to resist these flames. Those with more than 2 in Strength of Will, Heat Tolerance, or Pain Tolerance can resist all of these pains and continue fighting, ignoring all pain. Those at 2 in Strength of Will or Pain Tolerance will become nearly crippled once the black Hellfire emerges from their body. Finally at a Strength of Will or Pain Tolerance at level 1, the blistering of the skin will cause them to recoil in pain as if one touched hot super heated metal, like the red glow of a stove top, across their entire body. Characters without either of these skills recoil immediately from Holika’s intense heat, not able to enter within ten feet of her body for more than a single second.
Saisei Oni Appearances:
Saisei Oni: Phylacista Tartaros (Jailer of Hell)
When first released, Holika takes on the image of a woman trapped in stone, specifically basalt. Cracks emerge in this rocky skin, burning magma pulsating beneath the surface. Her eyes are also encapsulated in the aura of dark magma rolling beneath her skin, showing in the crack and her eyes. Her arms, legs, and body in general is not encumbered by this, still moving as fluidly as anyone might but the image makes one wonder if her body is entirely stone and magma.
Her clothes remain, changed slightly into chains and chain link garments stained black and grey by flame. Her midsection is without clothes and her cleavage and crotch are covered in chain mail, connected about her body with layers of chains wrapping around these areas as well. The links look like silver, twinkling in the light but slightly blackened with soot. Her feet are bare and have the look of normal human feet, with the exception of the basalt skin with magma poking out of the cracks along with what looks like talons coming off of her toes.
Within her hands are two blades, shaped as if they were made of flame and trapped within steel, coming out four feet from their hilts and curving towards the back of the blade. The back of the blades’ steel looks like flames, licking at the air behind the blade and frozen in time.
Saisei Oni: Custodia Tartaros (Guard of Hell)
In this form, Holika’s skin grows darker and seems to have become slightly denser, having bumps and sharp edges of basalt. The magma beneath even becomes a darker shade of red, yet brighter, becoming harder to stare at with unprotected eyes. The pulsating of the magma slows and seems to visibly shift beneath her basalt skin and where her eyes are. Her body becomes thicker, no longer looking bone thin but instead like the average person.
Her clothes, or rather chainmail garments, becomes even further stained by the heat coming off of her and becomes stark black. The two metal prongs coming out of her neck follow suit while the metallic wings upon her back instead become even brighter. They shimmer with a red hot appearance, the waves of heat distorting the air around them.
Where Holika’s blades once were, they visibly melt into red hot metal before reaching a length of thirty feet, becoming chains from Hell and the links of this chain remaining red hot for a few moments as she transforms. When they have cooled they become as black as the night sky if the sky had no stars present.
Saisei Oni: Carnifex Tartaros (Victimizer of Hell)
As Holika ascends in form her wings become seemingly hotter, burning white hot and exuding massive amounts of heat from their feathers. The wings grow to a span of thirty feet when measured from tip to tip. With a flap of these wings heat rolls off of them and they can lift her off the ground with two mighty flaps. The prongs from her neck have disappeared, lost in the change of her form.
Her skin becomes pitch black, almost seeming to absorb the light around her and it becomes further defined by the magma within her basalt skin. The magma has become darker, seeming to become a blood red with a yellow hint at the edges where the molten magma touches the cracks in the basalt skin on her body. The skin of basalt itself has a glossy look to it, as if the heat has polished her and made it glimmer like glass against the light.
Holika’s garments have also changed, the chainmail remaining as black as the night but also having become studded with sharp metal fixtures that make a checkered pattern. The chainmail at this stage cover her neck, cleavage, and half of her midsection and has become tight to her skin. On the lower half of her body, her legs and hips also have the chainmail clung tight to her body, mirroring the upper half of her body’s chainmail in appearance.
Saisei Oni: Imperatrix Tartaros (Mistress of Hell)
In this final form Holika adorns a crown of white hot metal, looking like thorns around a circlet and pressing tightly against her forehead and her fiery red hair. Holika’s hair flows down her back, almost reaching to the bottom of her feet, sweeping just above the ground. Her wings have grown in size and reach a forty foot wingspan when measured from tip to tip and spread from her body. The metal of her feathers are now white hot but have a hint of purple flame at their edges, the hellfire from her body spread to them.
The magma within her has turned to purple, the hellfire from within her body becoming evident and spreading throughout her. Her eyes, marked with the same purple magma, seem to pulsate as she stares. Her basalt skin against the image is now smooth instead of rocky and jutting out of her with small bumps, having become the look of a dark night sky and reflecting light off of her person.
Her feet and hands have changed, the talons on her feet becoming the look of her basalt skin and just as slick and reflective while the fingernails on her hands have grown three inches long and half an inch thick where they protrude from her finger, slimming down at the farthest end to the look of a needle point. Holika’s fingernails have grown sharp as well, threatening to cut enemies with ease.
Saisei Oni Primera Etapa Techniques:
Technique Name: Blazing Weapons
Technique Type: [Weapon]
Usable By: Hell
Technique Element: Fire/Hellfire
Technique Description and Effects:
Holika’s weapons become covered in red flames, making the metal glow red while engulfed in the fires surrounding them. At the first stage the flames are no more than ordinary flames, causing damage to those who come into contact with them. At stage 2 the flames are hotter than ordinary flames, becoming blue and causing damage to those who come into contact with them. At stage 3 Holika’s flames become nearly invisible white flames around her weapons, still afflicting those that come into contact with them, however they cannot be seen on the weapons except by those who have techniques to view spiritual aura or those with energy sensory of at least 200.
At stage 4 the flames are made of her Hellfire, causing similar damage as her aura for as long as they are touching the skin of those with a lower RS than her highest Spiritual Stat. Holika’s weapons also change, becoming covered in black Hellfire flames, leaving the weapons seemingly untouched with the exception of the black and purple flames surrounding them. Those with a higher or equal RS than her highest Spiritual Stat would simply receive damage as if they were normal flames.
At all stages these flames may spread from her weapons and set either the target or the environment on fire. This does not include anything that is non-flammable or water based. The flames will continue to spread five feet per post when the environment is set on fire and the flames are not doused. The damage added to her weapons hitting a target is based on Holika's highest Spiritual Stat.
How to use technique:
Paying 100 reiatsu at form 1, with each form adding to the cost by 50 reiatsu per weapon. As she increases in form she only pays the difference between forms to keep weapons that are already alight lit.
Technique Drawbacks:
The cost of this technique is 100 reiatsu per weapon at base form with an increase of 50 reiatsu per level of her forms. The flames on her weapons can be dosed with water at stages one through three and at the fourth form water and wind based reiatsu attacks may put out the flames.
Technique Name: Burning Body
Technique Type: [Body]
Usable By: Hell
Technique Element: Fire
Technique Description and Effects:
Holika’s body becomes immune to flames of lesser beings, having become a source of Hellfire incarnate. At Primera she immolates all non-water based techniques that do not exceed 50% of her highest Spiritual Stat. At Segunda she immolates all non-water based techniques that do not exceed 75% of her highest Spiritual Stat. At Trecera she immolates all non-water based techniques that do not exceed 100% of her highest Spiritual Stat. At Cuartra her body immolates all non water-based techniques that do not exceed 125% of her highest Spiritual stat. She also becomes immune to all Hellfire-based attacks that do not exceed 100% of her highest Spiritual Stat. Holika can be harmed if the OS of a character using any technique exceeds the aforementioned limits at the appropriate stage of release. This includes a fire based technique.
When a non-water based technique meets the above requirements, the heat from her body surrounded the target technique. Her bodily heat then produces flames around the technique, burning it to a crisp and stopping it's motion, keeping it from touching her body. The flames then expunge the technique from existence, burning it to nothing but ashes that fall to the ground after the immolation has been completed.
How to use technique: This technique is automatically activated upon release and costs 50 reiatsu per post.
Technique Drawbacks:
When activated, Holika takes damage from Ice and Water based attacks, taking the damage as if it is an additional 50% of OS damage.
Saisei Oni Segunda Etapa Techniques:
Technique Name: Hellish Whips
Technique Type: [Weapon]
Usable By: Hell
Technique Element: Explosion/Fire
Technique Description and Effects:
Holika uses her short to mid-ranged hand held weapons, summoning a spark at the tips of them that can be audibly heard. At Segunda level these sparks, when touching an object in either a solid or liquid state, explode in a fire around the tip of the weapon in a ten foot radius. This can cause burns and concussive damage to all within this radial area. The resulting shockwave of the explosion travels at 800 speed, outrunning the average speedsters.
At Trecera the sparks become even more volatile and dangerous, causing even louder pops when summoned to the tip of Holika’s weapons. When used on an object, these sparks produce an explosion that takes up a fifteen foot radius burning objects within the blast with third degree burns. The concussive force at the center of the blast may even disorient those with low level resistances. The resulting explosive shock wave travels at 900 speed.
Finally, at Cuartra the sparks become softer and sound more like a smoldering flame, purple edging the ends of Holika’s weapons instead of the bright flash of the regular spark. When the end of Holika’s weapon comes into contact with a liquid or solid object the explosion radius is twenty feet. The resulting shockwave from the explosion travels at 1000 speed. The damage from this explosion is with her Hellfire, causing blisters to appear on whatever living being is within the blast radius and her Hellfire to burn their bodies.
The blisters, if attacked with this technique successfully a second time, will burst open and feed the flames with the black ichor inside of the blisters. If this technique is used on a target that already has blisters present the blisters will open the first time that the attack connects and produce Hellfire through the black ichor. The resulting burning by hellfire activates Holika's overall ability on the targets body with all included effects.
The damage of the sparks is based on Holika's highest Spiritual Stat for the fire burning and OS for the explosion.
How to use technique:
Activation of this technique is 100 reiatsu per spark summoned at the end of her weapon.
Technique Drawbacks:
The cost of this technique is it’s drawback and she may be affected by the concussive force of her weapon’s resulting explosion but not the fire.
Technique Name: Burning Stare
Technique Type: [Body]
Usable By: Hell
Technique Element: Fire
Technique Description and Effects (Explain appearance, powers, and effect):
Holika’s eyes burn with judgment as she stares at her target, inflicting literal flames upon them. The flames burst forth from her eyes, like a pair of flamethrowers on her head. At Segunda the cone of the flames is about the size of an average person’s arm. Also, at this stage, the flames can only extend to a total of twenty feet from her body.
At Trecera, this technique summons ordinary flames that can engulf her entire target's body or object. The longer the target remains in her flames, the more powerful the flames become and the harder it will be to extinguish these flames. At this stage Holika’s flames can go farther, reaching up to thirty feet from her body.
At Cuartra the flames become Hellfire, having the same effect as her aura as they burn the target. The resulting burning by hellfire activates Holika's overall ability on the targets body with all included effects. At this final stage, Holika’s fire can fly from her body to a range of fifty feet and affects the environment around her, setting objects ablaze as well as beings.
At all stages these flames may spread from her affected target and set the environment on fire. This does not include anything that is non-flammable or water based. The flames will continue to spread five feet per post when the environment is set on fire and the flames are not doused. At all stages, as well, the speed of her flames projecting from her eyes are at 600 speed. The damage of this technique is based off of Holika's highest Spiritual Stat.
How to use technique:
Holika must have sight on the target and then activate the ability by spending 400 reiatsu with 100 reiatsu per post that she continues feeding the flames with her eyes on the target.
Technique Drawbacks (Limitations, repercussions for use, etc):
Those with a higher RS than Holika's Highest Spiritual Stat will not be engulfed in flames. Holika may also not perform any other actions besides moving her body minimally while using this technique.
Saisei Oni Trecera Etapa Techniques:
Technique Name: Hellzone Mines
Technique Type: [Weapon]
Usable By: Hell
Technique Element: Fire/Hellfire
Technique Description and Effects:
Holika runs her hand over her weapon, causing small sparks, about three centimeters in diameter, to grow along the weapon’s body and throughout the weapon itself. The shine of the sparks may make them look larger, having an aura that is visible about them and making it difficult to determine it's actual size to those with a high energy sensory, about 100 or above. Holika then may swing this weapon, launching these sparks in the direction she swings. When these sparks, size depending on the stage that Holika is at in her Saisei Oni, these sparks will either embed into an object or being, causing fire to erupt from them at the Trecera level.
At Trecera, the sparks once embedded explode when touched by an object or person. If the sparks are not detonated by this, the sparks last three rounds at which point they will explode regardless of touching a living being or object. The explosion radius is fifteen feet in radial range and causes fire to erupt from the explosion.
At Cuartra these sparks have a dimmed and more purple effective glow and produce a smoldering sound. These sparks will act similarly to the Trecera level and will last just as long until the explosive effect at three posts. The radial range of the explosion and erupting fire however are dissimilar. When these sparks explode they cover an effective radial range of thirty feet and produce Hellfire from them, burning the targets and causing blisters on their body if there are none. If there are already blisters present on their body, the explosion will cause these blisters to open and produce Hellfire on their body. The resulting burning by hellfire activates Holika's overall ability on the targets body with all included effects.
At both stages these sparks travel from Holika’s weapons at 900 speed. The damage of the fire burning a target is based off of Holika's Highest Spiritual Stat when it is Hellfire.
How to use technique:
Holika creates the sparks in the palm of her hand and runs them along her weapon of choice, embedding them into the length she chooses. She then swings her weapon in the direction of her choice, throwing the sparks outward via her weapon. Whatever object or person first touches the sparks will become embedded with the spark. The cost for this technique is 150 reiatsu per spark wave generated.
Technique Drawbacks:
These sparks do not go off on command. They will remain until touched by an object or person after becoming embedded for three posts. After three posts they will explode. Holika can be damaged by the explosive force but not the fire that is produced. She may only create a maximum of ten sparks per wave.
Technique Name: Flocking Flares
Technique Type: [Body]
Usable By (Technique is available to which races?): Hell
Technique Element: Fire
Technique Description and Effects:
Holika’s wings of metal, burning red hot, can detach individual feathers, and launch them at targets with a single flap of her wings. These metallic feathers fly through the air at 800 speed, still engulfed in the flames that they had when attached to her body. When the feathers collide with an object or person they explode with fire, immolating the target with red hot flames and metallic shrapnel at Trecera level.
At Cuartra level, these metallic feathers burst with purple hellfire, traveling at 1000 speed towards their designated target. When these feathers collide with a person or object , they explode with hellfire and consume the target with said hellfire. The hellfire as it connects with the target, if it has flesh, will experience the blistering of their skin if it does not douse the flames with a reiatsu based water ability. In the second post after being set aflame with hellfire, the target will experience blisters. On the third post these blisters will burst open and black ichor will spill from their blisters, feeding the flames of hellfire. The resulting burning by hellfire activates Holika's overall ability on the targets body with all included effects.
If the target already has blisters caused from earlier attacks of hellfire, the blisters will burst open and feed the hellfire with the black ichor that issues forth. The area around the impact can also be set aflame by the explosion in a five foot radius. While Holika fires flares she may still fly with her wings, however how many flares she fires determines how fast she may fly after until they have respawned. 1-4 flares having been fired has no effect on her speed of flying. 5-10 slows her speed by 25%. 10-12 slows her speed by 50%. 13-17 her speed by 75%. 18-20 flares having been fired nulls her flying speed, but she may still hover. Any more and she cannot fly or hover, falling to the ground below and remaining flightless until they respawn.
Flares respawn at a rate of 2 per post unless stunted by firing more flares which will reset the respawn clock. Holika may not respawn a flare while firing a new set of flares from her wings. The damage of Holika's flares is based off of her highest Spiritual stat cut into a quarter per flare.
How to use technique:
Holika focuses on the target and flaps her wing, intentionally dislodging the metallic feathers from their placement and launching them at her desired target.
Technique Drawbacks:
Holika can only launch three feathers at a time at the Trecera level and five at the Cuartra level forms. The reiatsu cost of this attacks is 50 per metallic feather.
Saisei Oni Cuarta Etapa Techniques:
Technique Name: Rain Hellfire
Technique Type: [Weapon]
Usable By: Hell
Technique Element: Fire/Hellfire
Technique Description and Effects:
When used, this technique summons two thousand small, purple flame consumed caltrops with barbed tips on all four ends of the metallic bodies. They then fall from above Holika’s body and will tear into most objects and people’s bodies. The Hellfire they are consumed in has the same effects as Holika’s Hell Fire aura. The Hellfire cannot be extinguished by normal means such as average water or human made chemicals. When raining down on the battlefield, the caltrops land within a fifty foot diameter around Holika's body.
The Hellfire in the first post of contact with the person will cause immense pain, blistering the skin and the beginning of boils will be produced on their skin. In the second post, the Hellfire will cause these blisters to grow to near bursting size, pulsating on the flesh of the individual around where the caltrops are currently attached to their body. Finally, on the third post of contact, the individual will have their blistering boils burst and Hellfire consume their body, becoming fed by the black ichor bursting from the boils. The resulting burning by hellfire activates Holika's overall ability on the targets body with all included effects. The burning damage is based off of Holika's highest spiritual stat.
How to use technique:
Holika points towards the sky, her hand wrapped in Hell Fire flames and index finger extended. She then releases the hell flare into the air, allowing it to fly free before it bursts like a hellish firework.
Technique Drawbacks:
The cost of this technique is 200 Reiatsu and can only be used once every three posts.
Technique Name: Eruption Button
Class:
Technique Type: [Body]
Usable By (Technique is available to which races?): Hell
Technique Element: Fire
Technique Description and Effects:
Holika’s last option, this technique is reserved for the life or death situations that may pervade her course of actions. This technique, once activated by Holika reaching into her own chest and squeezing her Hellfire core until it bursts, exploding the skin from her body. Her body then remains only a molten form, continuously dripping with dangerously hot Hellfire magma. When she explodes the basalt skin she had encasing her fires in a 100 foot radius around her body, burning with her Hellfire aura still attached to the pieces.
At the shortest range, 0 to 10 feet around Holika’s body, they will easily become riddled with Holika’s ballistic basalt and consumed briefly in her Hellfire. The hellfire, if coming in contact with current blisters will activate her overall ability and all effects included. At 10 to 50 feet it becomes a little easier to dodge Holika’s basalt blast and suffer only minimal Hellfire burns. Hellfire burns will cause the same effect as those at a range of 0-10 feet. Any further up to 100 feet and the chance of being hit by the basalt is easily avoided. The Hellfire blast has no chance of hitting an opponent outside of this range. The damage of this ability is based off of Holika's highest spiritual stat. Within the 0-10 foot range it is 1.5x her highest spiritual stat. In the 10-50 foot range it is her highest spiritual stat with no bonus.
How to use technique:
Holika reaches within her own chest, grasping at her internal Hellfire core. She then squeezes until it bursts, causing the outermost layer of her skin on her body to explode outwards, keeping only the molten form.
Technique Drawbacks:
Holika abandons defense with this technique, which can only be used again after 5 posts of cooling her new skin down. During this cooldown she also removes her Legatus Guard until her new skin cools and replaces the destroyed layer. She, during this cooldown, takes double OS damage other than from fire based or other heat related techniques. The cost of this technique is 400 reiatsu.
Other Techniques (Kido, Cero, Etc.):
Technique Name: [Placidus] (Mastered)
Class: [4]
Technique Type: [Other]
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects:
This is the Akki step technique. While Akki can use step techniques from other races, this technique is particularly devastating because it belongs to them. This is the unique Akki ability for stepping.
What this technique does is allow the Akki to phase briefly in and out of their current plain of existence. In other words, they momentarily disappear, blinking out of existence. As they do, a flash of black explodes outwards. Anyone that witnesses them blinking out of existence will suddenly see nothing but blackness for that split second. It is hardly enough to affect the battle, but rather it is theatrical. The Akki, during that brief second, is gone, and cannot be attacked. This is a direct "teleportation," unlike Shunpo or Sonido, which are merely fast movement.
Averagely, this is performed at 15x the user's speed, making it one of the fastest individual steps. It is also known to be able to move forwards within three small steps rather than one. It can also be done for one. If done in three, the same distance is covered in three smaller steps, creating a theatrical flash of black with each appearance and disappearance. Additionally, there is a flash of white light when the Akki reappears and blinks back into existence. Any who witness this flash of light will suddenly see hallucinations of horrible monstrosities and new body features on the Akki in question that uses this technique, and their fear of the individual will increase.
How to use technique:
Like all step techniques, this one requires a simple step as well. It is done for 200 reiatsu per use, which is why most Akki prefer to use the steps of other races. It is an expensive step technique, but is easily one of the most powerful.
Technique Drawbacks
Reiatsu cost.
Made By: [Admin]
Technique Name: [Hellfire Arts: Grand Hell Cannon] (Mastered)
Class: [1]
Technique Type: [General Akki Technique]
Usable By (Technique is available to which races?): [Akki]
Technique Element: [Hellfire]
Technique Description and Effects (Explain appearance, powers, and effect):
The Grand Soul Cannon functions very similarly to the Grand Spirit Cannon of the Saika. In fact, this is the upgraded and superior Akki version of the same technique. It is set up very differently from the Grand Spirit Cannon, though. First, the Akki must find or create a source of natural fire. By plunging their hand into it, they suck it into their hand like a magnet pulls in metal. This process hurts and costs 100 reiatsu, but pressurizes the fire into a crystal that is stored on their arm in the form of a bracelet. Five crystals must be created, one of which must be made out of unnatural Hellfire and is the Prime crystal.
These crystal bracelets are set up in an array that allows the Akki to channel their fire. The Akki places the Prime crystal at the center and can place the other 4 crystals as far away as he or she wants. Once placed, they cannot be moved safely. Once a circle has been created, with the four crystals equidistant from the Prime crystal, the Akki can now begin to draw on their energy and fire large blasts of Hellfire. These blasts are as big as a semi truck, move at 1000 stat speed, and explode with the force of a Cero. The explosions leave behind Hellfire that is capable of even setting water on fire if it has superior offensive stat and does not burn out until a source of spiritual water with a higher offensive stat douses it. These blasts themselves cost 200 reiatsu.
At Learned, 5 such blasts may be generated before the Akki develops first degree burns. For every 5 more, the burns increase by a degree.
At Proficient, 7 such blasts may be generated. For every 5 more, the burns increase by a degree.
At Mastered, 10 such blasts. For every 5 more, the burns increase by a degree.
How to use technique (How is it activated?):
See Above
Technique Drawbacks (Limitations, repercussions for use, etc)
Minimum 700 reiatsu cost to set up and fire 1 blast. Pain, burns for setting up, additional burns for casting. It takes time to set up and if any of the crystals are broken then the whole array catches on Hellfire. Potentially alighting the Akki.
Made By: Kyomei
Technique Name: [Bladed Chains] (Mastered)
Class: [3]
Technique Type: [General Sinner Technique]
Usable By: [Hell Races]
Technique Element: [None]
Technique Description and Effects:
1: The chains of Hell torment the denizens endlessly, so why not share the misery? Learning this ability influences the blades, giving them the ability to cut through anything as easily as a normal spiritual blade can, regardless of the chains not changing in appearance, still as rounded as ever. The offensive stat for the chains is based off either the highest Spiritual stat, or the user's Strength stat, whichever is higher. Chains are unable to cut their owner. This is a passive ability, and is unable to be turned off.
2: Through some heavy handed use of reiatsu, the user can extend and manipulate the chains to do as they please. For strength users, the chains will extend upto thirty feet, and will move at either a speed equal to their speed stat, or at a speed of 600. For spiritual users, the size scales off of their highest spiritual stat. For every 50 they have in their higher stat, the chains can extend another foot, and can move at either 600, or the user's speed. Cost is 100 reiatsu every post.]
How to use technique: [Pay the cost for chains. Cutting power is permanently active]
Technique Drawbacks: [Cost.]

Reserved?: [No]
Technique Name: [Bakudo #61: Rikujokoro (Six Rods Prison of Light)] (Mastered)
Class: [4]
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: [Light]
Technique Description and Effects:
Summons six thin, wide beams of light that slam into a target's midsection from all sides, holding them in place. This technique also results in total paralysis, and can even suspend targets in mid air.
How to use technique:
This requires the user's eyes to be focused on the target, and their casting hand to be aimed at the target as well. The six beams will then close in, but those who are quick enough or instinctive enough will be able to dodge.
Incantation and Effect:
The incantation increases the reiatsu strength of this technique by 25%. (I.E. Reiatsu strength of 100 is instead worth 125.) ("Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!")
Technique Name: Hado #91: Senjū Kōten Taihō (Thousand-Hand Bright Heaven Culling-Sear) (Mastered)
Class: 2
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: An exceedingly powerful spell, this Kido creates ten points of glowing energy around the user before being fired at the target, homing in on it and curving about to impact the victim from numerous sides. Upon impact from the ten blasts, an enormous explosion of Reiatsu is released, beating and quivering as it devastates the entire region with its sheer force. This technique requires the incantation to cast, but in exchange, its power is equal to three times the user’s current Reiatsu Strength.
How to use technique: Speak the spell and point hand towards the target.
Incantation and Effect: “Limit of the thousands hands, respectful hands, unable to touch the darkness. Shooting hands unable to reflect the blue sky. The road that basks in light, the wind that ignited the embers, time that gathers when both are together, there is no need to be hesitant, obey my orders. Light bullets, eight bodies, nine items, book of heaven, diseased treasure, great wheel, grey fortress tower. Aim far away, scatter brightly and cleanly when fired” As the incantation is required for casting, there is no bonus.
Technique Name: Hell-Fire Punch (Mastered)
Class: 6
Technique Type: Hell Technique
Usable By: Any Race of Hell
Technique Element: Fire
Technique Description and Effects:
The user's arm is engulfed in flames burning wildly. This attack causes a small explosion upon impact with the target. If the target were to move, the energy from the attack would travel from the user's arm and out for about ten yards before exploding. Not only is the force of the explosion pretty powerful, but it will also cause major burns to the target.
How to use technique:
Concentrate energy into cursed arm, and willing the fire to ignite and consume the limb. Reitsu Cost: 200
Technique Drawbacks:
This technique not only damages the target, but the force of the explosion would also cause slight damage to the user making repeated use of this technique unwise. For every 100 points in strength, the users body can take 3 explosions without severely injuring himself. Requires 1 point in any martial art/street fighting.

-History-
Birthplace: North America
Current Residence: The Fortress of Tarturus
Memorable Figures:
Lucifer
History:
Much of Holika’s history is speculation and myth mixed with ounces of truth. Even though she cannot fully recount all the events she has ever seen, she can relive flashes of the times she lived in when she was alive. A time of cold, huddling within a cave amongst her fellow humans, cuddling close to one another in order to survive. That was before a spark lit by a strange and powerful flash and boom later called lightning struck a tree. A branch had fallen from the tree that had been struck, an orange flame licking against the bark having been made. Holika approached and lifted this branch, observing it closely. This new found heat excited her and lit her eyes. But what truly brought out her excitement was the taste this flame brought in the flesh of her brethren.
She immediately attacked those around her, swinging the branch wildly and catching her fellow humans aflame. They fell as she bashed them on their heads and set them aflame so that they would run into the walls of the cave. There was no water for them to escape their fate to and she was delighted to see the flesh cooking inside of the fires she made. When she bit into their flesh it feel from their bones with ease. Sure, she had to chew a bit to ensure that she could swallow the chunks of meat off of their bodies, but the juice was worth the bite.
She was soon found amongst a pile of bones, stripped of the delicious meat and a flame kindled by more branches by a returning hunting party. When they first arrived, they were very confused at what might have happened to the rest of the tribe, but when a piece of skin was found upon her sleeping lips and bones found in each hand they quickly surmised what she had done. They restrained her and picked up the branches before approaching her with the branches in hand. The last she remembers of her life was fighting amongst her kind, watching the branches that held the wondrous flames that soon engulfed her.
After her death, Holika’s spirit wandered the plains of her people in random directions. She had no specific place where she would hunt, only search out people for her to feed upon as she felt the growing need every moment. While she fed she noticed many anomalies as time passed. She oversaw the developments they made with fire and the wheel, bore witness to the expanse and destruction of tribes, and observed the rise of empires and the destruction of the land as pale faces arrived. It was almost poetic to Holika to see them spread, like a fire that took over the continent she had once called home.
At this point, she had become a hollow that stalked the nights, becoming a legend to the peoples that she hunted. For invaders such as Spaniards and Europeans she was a demon on the wind. For a short time the Vikings actually worshipped her as a Valkyrie coming to claim them for Valhalla. She had been a winged beast in the night, her body looking like that of a giant hawk that soared through the night sky, observing her prey before swooping in. She would usually target spiritually strong children or small animals if she felt the need. The only other specific targets she might choose was during a skirmish or full out battle of war, finding comfort in taking those that would already be lost in battle. Better to fill her belly than go to waste, she had thought many times to herself. The flesh tasted interesting to her, but she missed the taste of those she had cooked when alive.
It was a long time before a soul reaper came looking for her. Although she had never encountered such a being, Holika had come across a few hollows by this point in history that had seen them. Or so they said while Holika held them down and demanded all the information they had. After hearing of these dangerous beings Holika knew that she had to be careful. She had been overly cautious, making sure to only take those people who were far on the plains or isolated in some way from the main populace of people taking over the land east. But everything must eventually come to an end, and Holika knew that staying under the radar was not an entirely fruitful existence.
Despite all of these behaviours, an anomaly reached Holika that could not be ignored. She had seen singular wagons before, but this was very different. One day, Holika had decided to go after a wagon train that had been traveling farther west than anyone ever had. When she came upon them in the night, she saw the massive circles they made and at the center she saw her favorite thing in the world. All these centuries later it seemed to be staring at her. The fires they were using to cook their meat and brighten their dark world around them.
Holika began her attack by swooping in and fanning the flames as the people slept, although that would not be their state of awareness very soon after. Holika could lie and say that she had a valid reason for attacking this wagon train. A few of them were spiritually aware but not entirely strong. It wasn’t about that however, rather it was the fire that had beckoned her to their wagons. She saw the way the flames engulfed the wagons in the circle, lighting one by one and growing the size of the fires until it was almost blinding to the humans who scurried in fear.
Holika enjoyed picking them off and eating the burned flesh of the travelers in the night. The taste of their boiled bone marrow was especially delicious and mouth watering. She even enjoyed the view of the flames while she perched on a log nearby in the desert, savoring the meals she made of their corpses and souls. She had more than her fill and decided to rest a bit after such a successful hunt. However, this had been a mistake to do, having attacked such a large group and deciding to stay at the scene for far too long.
In the morning Holika awoke, looking around at the landscape and how flat the earth around her seemed to be when she noticed something off in the distance. The silhouette of a figure that she had never laid eyes on before. The figure was wearing a long black robe and had what looked to be some strange sword on their hip. It curved backwards, not straight like she had seen in her times when the Europeans, Vikings, and Spaniards invaded before. This sword was most definitely foreign to her.
She stood tall and flapped her wings three times, the magnificently large bid that she was, in an attempt to gauge if he could see her. If he did not react she knew he would be easy to pick off and consume. When he flinched however, she internally grinned at the idea of what she would do to him as her beak-like mask could not convey this emotion. She knew he would be threatened by her, knew that she would easily pick off this odd human, knew she could not be beaten with simple steel. But then she felt it. His power exuded, a spiritual energy like the humans she preyed upon but this was more. It dwarfed her in her mind and she thought for a moment to flee.
Holika became enraged at this idea, a simple man making her fearful. The nerve of him to continue walking patiently towards her, as if she were nothing but a part of the landscape around him. With that she became impatient, watching him walk as easily across the desert as a man walking through a field of grass with a warm wind at his back. And she took off at him, racing through the air and aiming her beach for his heart. She never felt it.
One moment she was five feet from him and he was drawing his blade from it’s sheathe. Only the handle seemed to have no blade within the sheathe. In the next moment, she was cut in half, water dropping around her where his blade should have been. He had not hit her mask, instead cleaved at an angle that bisect her, leaving her head attached to her left side and her right wing and leg on the ground.
Holika slammed to the ground, skidding across the desert ground and landing behind the swordsman. She gave out a pained cry and began trying to hobble away from him. She cried out, begging him to stop what he was doing and let her go. The swordsman never spoke, simply turned to face her while lifting up the handle of his bladeless sword. He then brought the handle down and she looked up. Directly above her had manifested three long sickle blades of water. And they reaped the life from her, if she had any in her.
The next few moments are fuzzy for Holika. She remembered a large door, massive in size materializing behind where she lay. Two skeletons were both the door and holding it closed, chained together in some macabre fashion. She stared at it, her mask in pieces and her body torn asunder. As the door creaked open, pulling against the chains, she felt dread. She knew that she was to abandon all hope and be forced to enter this place, smelling of sulfur as some air escaped from within the doors.
The worst part was she could feel the heat and felt a calm within her, wrestling with the panic. ‘If there was fire, what was there to worry about?’ Holika wondered to herself as her vision blurred. And then the stabbing sensation overtook her as chains from within plunged into her flesh after streaking through the air. She heard their rattle and felt their cold iron pierce her flesh, digging into her and holding tight before slowly dragging her into the dark abyss.
Upon the beginning of Holika’s descent into the black hole of Hell, the void swallowing her, she momentarily saw and heard nothing. It wouldn’t surprise her if she remembered feeling nothing as well as she was pulled beneath the chasm of despair and into the bowels of Hell. But in the next moment she began to hear the screams around her. The wails of pain and anguish as the souls beneath her lamented their similar fates and toiled to make amends with no possibility of achieving this.
Where Holika finally landed was in Cocytus’ first circle of Hell, Caina. As she landed in her hollowfied body, Holika found that her entire body was once again healed and whole much to her surprise. As she stared down at the frozen lake beneath her, Holika saw that even her mask was whole and unbroken. She stared at her reflection as she began to shiver, the howling winds chilling her to the bone.
Holika spent what felt to be an eternity, the ice slowly encapsulating her body all the way up her bird-like body and over her neck. She could still strain her neck to look around her, but the pain of the frozen ice was slowly destroying her over and over, life breathing into her each time she collapsed from exhaustion. She usually strained her neck in order to avoid the pain of the wind against her face. Her wings, though frozen solid, offered further protection to her face and her body but the wind shifted so often it made it unpredictable when the torture of it would become worse.
One fateful day Holika looked up from her miserable crouching, facing the wind as she felt a presence that exuded malice and torture. There was even a heat coming off of this being, making Holika strain against the ice, her skin breaking and spilling blood from the wounds created on her body. The ice encapsulating her became stained with her blood, the red making her stand out and it seemed the presence took notice of her. She felt his eyes on her, his intrigue piercing through her and making her shake more than the wind ever did.
As the figure, later to be understood as Lucifer, approached her, Holika craned her beak closer towards him. She felt fear within her but the heat he had coming off of his body overrode her flight or fight instincts, causing her to become more intrigued than fearful. “You are a hollow…” Lucifer spoke softly, “A child turned away from a pure soul. What crime did you commit to come to such a horrible fate?”
She could tell he seemed bored as he asked this question, but Holika’s eyes narrowed in her mind as she lurched forward, her mask’s beak chattering as she spoke. “I did nothing wrong…. The flames called to me and the taste of flesh sated me... . You cannot convince me it a sin to taste such divine flavor….” As she spoke she saw the figure’s face fully for the first time and heard his voice clearly. With one hand raised, he stopped the winds around him and she could see his eyebrow raised.
“You intrigue me. Allow me to give you a gift for this. Enjoy someplace further from my home with it.” And Lucifer brought the hand he had raised down and onto her mask. As her mask shattered, Holika felt the change course through her immediately, her body exploding and becoming banished to the fiery Tarturus of Hell before reshaping her. Lucifer was definitely intrigued at first, but now bored wanted Holika far from his presence.
When she awoke she was scarred with burns all over her flesh, looking as if she remained in the body she had when she died. She was now a humanoid with a small hole in between her cleavage and upon her wrists were black chains, wrapped around the entire length of her arms as well after dangling loosely from her wrists. She had fiery red haired, frayed and split at the ends.
Upon her back were a pair of shriveled wings, the feathers made of metal and digging into her sides as the wings clung tightly to her burned flesh. From her neck sprung two prongs, tearing holes from inside her and pointing up towards her head as they bent out from her body. Her feet and hands as well as the rest of her body were unnaturally thin, pressing the burned skin against her bones and looking as if she had starved deeply. The fingernails and toenails on her looked more like burned claws and talons, her feet suffering as the back talon on each foot pressed into the bottom of her feet with each step.
The punishment was severe, but her gifts showed with time. Holika became a killing beast, attacking other sinners in Tarturus and doling out her own punishments upon them. She wielded her chains with malice and destroyed foes over and over, seeking them out and describing to them each time that she was no sinner like them. She had been brought here for a different purpose than to be punished, in her mind at least. She would be the punisher of the damned.
