The sound of pencils hitting the paper on wooden desks silently tapped across the room. Final exams to graduate the academy were taking place. Practical tests were first and already done. Eiko naturally did not excel but did well enough. Average in Kido, barely average in Zanjutsu and Hoho, and below average in Hakuda. Better than what Eiko ultimately expected, Eiko still needed to pass the written portion with an above average score to graduate though, which wasn't ideal, though the temperamental soul had learned to use the written portion to keep his head above water these past few years, every year he was just a taaad bit better. Just better enough to not fail the year.
Yozora Eiko rummaged his way through the answers to each and every question. Most questions had cookie cutter answers. The purpose of each division of the Gotei thirteen, the history of it and noteworthy captains and what those captains did. All answers that were simple enough to answer. Eiko felt confident he had a near perfect score on all these questions, they were only drilled into his head as he ran through them like nothing. Descriptions of Hollows, Gillians, Adhuchas, and Vasto Lorde, how hollows are born, the process of a Konso...in excruciatingly inane and redundant detail.
"Hey hey, don't make a mistake now. You can't really afford it can you? Heh heh heeeeh," the voice echoed in Eiko's head as his faced contorted and shifted, showing natural irritation and frustration, knowing he knew all these answers and that the voice had served no purpose but to torment Eiko as he went through the test. "If you weren't so pathetic you wouldn't be in this position you know," the voice echoed, as if it were a macabre shadow over his shoulder, Eiko could feel as if four eyes coming from the shadow staring back at him in the madness, it was as if a hand was on his opposite shoulder, another hand on his head forcing him to focus on the test as it mocked him like it was some sort of torture experiment. A shadowy demon nobody else could see but Eiko.
"Shut the fuck up," Eiko quietly muttered so as not to disturb anybody else or get kicked out, though a few nearby classmates looked over with concern at the quiet outburst. Eiko's eyes were wide with anger, frustration, fear, anguish, angst...stress. His pupils shivering in his eyes as he answered the next question on hell butterflies and their functions, purpose, and how to use them. The mouth near his ear chuckling as he continued through the test, testing Eiko's rapidly dwindling patience as Eiko neared the end of the test, completing a few final questions before getting up and handing it over to the instructor. "Finished Yozora-san?" the instructor overseeing the final asked? "Y-yeah. I'll excuse myself now," Eiko replied before walking out the door and closing it behind him.
Eiko walked a fair distance until he got to a quiet hallway and sat down in the corner and curled up into a ball, breathing heavily as he tried to calm himself down, the voice in his head continuing to torment him as the shinigami student rocked back and forth where nobody would see him. He'd have to wait until tomorrow for the final results. Hopefully everything went well enough. "It's not like it matters if it did, your just going to end up a meal for some ugly monstrosity," the voice in his head mocked as Eiko gritted his teeth. "I told you to shut the fuck up."
